Chapter 93: Eventful arrival of schools

// THIS IS AN OLD CHAPTER. THE NEW CHAPTERS ARE IN VOLUME 2. YOU CAN READ THESE CHAPTERS IF YOU WANT SOME INSIGHT ON WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN LATER BUT SOME EVENTS CAN BE DIFFERENT BETWEEN THE OLD AND NEW CHAPTERS.

This afternoon I was not feeling very well as I walked down the stairs to the great hall, many students were crowded in front of a sign in the entrance hall. It seems that the announcement of the arrival of students from other schools has finally been posted. The students are hung on the end of the paper like leeches hungry for a thrill. At the same time, I can understand them, we are so bored here that there is nothing else to do. Fred and George are with everyone else, but they go into ecstasies for a completely different reason.

"What are you two up to again?"

"We are preparing for our hour of glory." I can spot Fred thanks to his sweater with a capital F.

"We figured out a way to make Dumbledore judge think we're seventeen." Ah yes, I forgot that they are not yet aware that the judge announced by Dumbledore the other day is in fact a magical object, I might as well give them a little advice, so that they don't make a fool of themself.

"If you think lying about your age is going to work, you're wasting your time. If I were you, I'd practice my paper dumpling throw instead."

"Do you know something Bones?" It's really scary when they are talking at the same time.

"Let's say this is not the first Triwizard Tournament and the judge is still the same. I'll let you have some fun looking for the answer in the library."

I return to the dormitory. The likelihood of the twins being selected by the cup is slim, but it will keep them busy for the next few days.

A few days later, it is finally the date of the arrival of students from other schools. We are made to line up in row ordered by year with the first years at the front and the last years at the back. I'm on the fourth row between Edward and Daphne who pushed Draco to stand next to me. I was planning to take some time to visit the infirmary to ask Madam Pomfrey for some potion for fever, headaches, and nausea, but participation in the arrival of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang is obligatory. I should have gone earlier but since the incidents with the dementors, the infirmary is one of my least favorite rooms in the whole castle.

"Are you okay? You really don't look well." Daphne puts her hand on my forehead to take my temperature. "You have a fever! We need to get you to the infirmary immediately!"

"It's okay. I'll go find Madam Pomfrey after the ceremony." Daphne didn't say anything, but her worried look told me that there was a good chance that she would drag me to the infirmary herself if I ever slacked on the path.

Suddenly, we see the carriage of beauxbatons appear above the forbidden forest and move quickly towards the castle. Their landing is far from the delicacy I expected from the French school. The first to get out of the gigantic coach was their headmistress who left to greet Dumbledore, but I was more interested in the students coming out one after the other in their blue silk uniforms.

"Do you know where that smell is coming from?"

"No, but I would like to know, it smells so good!" Several girls are chatting nearby, I hope for them that McGonagall will not hear them, or they risk detention given the stress in which our teacher is in.

"You're right, it smells like summer!"

More and more girls are fidgeting in the students and starting to discuss, which makes my migraines worse and earns us a glare from our Transfiguration teacher.

---------- POV Daphne ----------

I am with Sean watching the arrival of the Beauxbatons students and there is a delicious smell floating in the air very close to me, but I can't figure out where it is exactly coming from. It is so strong that I would give anything to be able to smell it closer.

But suddenly I hear a thud next to me and when I turn around, Sean is on the ground, unconscious. I can't help but scream when I see him sweating heavily on the floor.

"SEAN!" The teachers turn to see what's going on and a lot of the girls start to come and try to give me a hand before stopping to start smelling Sean lying on the floor.

I breathe in the intoxicating smell that seems to emanate from him and I need all my concentration to avoid ending up like the other bitches who remain clumped near us without doing anything.

"Miss Greengrass, what's going on?" Professor McGonagall is the first to arrive on us closely followed by Professor Dumbledore and Madame Maxime.

"I don't know, he was next to me and he wasn't feeling well and the next second he fell."

The number of students gathering around us continues to increase and some students of Beauxbatons have joined us.

"That's enough leave him some air. You there, go get Madam Pomfrey."

Girls reluctantly disperse when they hear McGonagall's icy voice but a tall blonde girl with blue eyes walks towards us. I would kill to have her hair or the same skin.

"Excuse me, does he have veela blood?" Professor McGonagall seems lost, but luckily I have already met her mother.

"Yes! Her mother is half Veela." Her gaze is full of curiosity when she looks at Sean, but she looks more relaxed than most of us.

"There is nothing to fear, what is happening to him is normal. It is the attraction of the veela which is manifesting itself. You have to see it as a rather harsh adolescent crisis."

Everyone is stunned by her response. How can suffering from such a fever be normal for veelas?

"Is it normal for it to be so violent?" The beaubatons girl turns to me.

"I've never seen one so strong, but it's also the first time I've seen a boy with veela blood. You have to isolate him quickly because the attraction will become more and more addictive. And you have to tell his mother. It's usually them who teach their daughters how to control themselves, but I don't know how it's going to be with a boy. "

"Well, you heard ladies! Now step back please. Mister Malfoy and Zabini, please transport your comrade to the infirmary with miss ...?"

"Fleur Delacour."

---------- POV Draco ----------

"Why do I still have to take care of this. Aren't there enough staff in this school for us to have to carry a student to the infirmary ourselves?" I don't understand why we have to deal with transporting students to the infirmary.

"You don't seem happy to help a friend of yours who is in trouble?" The girl from Beauxbatons who accompanies us is damn beautiful, I wonder which wizard's family she comes from?

"Oh no, I'm beaming with happiness at the thought of missing Durmstrang's arrival to bring Bones to the infirmary." She looks at me coldly, seems like I failed at getting a first good impression. "By the way, my name is Draco Malfoy, and you are?"

"Fleur Delacour." Delacour, it's not a name that ring a bell to me, but I don't know the good families of French wizards that well, I will ask Father for advice.

We arrive in front of the infirmary doors and Madam Pomfrey, who was ahead of us, is already brewing potions.

"Set him up on a bed, I'll be with you in a few minutes." We hurry to install him on the nearest bed, but he struggles in his fever and he's damn strong too.

"Could you hurry, we're having a hard time keeping him down." He resists us more and more.

"Mister Malfoy, start acting like a man, there are three of you to master one student." As she finishes her sentence Bones grabs Zabini by the collar before throwing him out of the infirmary through the door still open. Blaise crash heavily on the ground and struggle to get up.

Fleur is the first to react, she takes out her wand and points it at Sean still struggling on the bed.

"Petrificus totalus" Sean stops. I thought we could finally take a break after all this but something impossible is happening before my eyes. Bones is breaking the spell only with his physical strength.

"Leave me some space, I'm coming." Madam Pomfrey sticks a needle in his arm. A few seconds later, Sean is motionless on the hospital bed.

"What did you just give him?"

"Just a muscle relaxer, help me tie him up." She sighs deeply. "This is going to be a long night."
