Chapter 5: Difficulties
„What?" Nikki asked with raised eyebrows, „Here we go." Aura muttered to herself causing her brother to roll eyes, „It's true." Mikey said, „Our people wants to destroy you!" Panic rising in his voice he looked from one woman to other, „Please believe us." He added silently. Matthew and Lucille were nodding, „It's true, Andarians hate humans with passion." Matthew explained.
Nikki and Renni's gazes shifted from the strange trio to the only one in the room who hasn't spoken since, „Is it true, Aura?" Nikki asked watching her student closely. Sighing the werecat flicked her her gaze between her teachers, „Indeed it's true. And we can't do anything abut it." She said plainly before turning to the door, „We should go." She hissed softly without turning to face Renni. The redhead nodded and grabbed her books, she left together with Aura, closing the door behind them, leaving her friend in company of the trio.
„Is it true?" she asked once outside, Aura gave her slight glance, „Yes. Everything." She answered, „Even the 'we can't do anything about it' part?" „Even that. Though we have plan, you're never going to agree to it." Aura mumbled slipping into the class before her.
„Don't mind her, she's pessimist since birth." Matthew said when they left, Nikki looked at him in confusion, „What?" Clearing his throat he looked at his companions, „We in fact have a plan." He said with wide grin, „And what plan is that?" „We're going to train you!" Mikey squeaked in delight. „Pardon?" shaking himself he explained in calm voice: „We want to teach you how to fight, all the cantors here. So you can defend yourself and the students with ease." „And how do you want to do that?"
The trio exchanged looks, „That's a surprise we'll reveal once we've gathered everyone." Matthew said with a sly grin plastered on his face, „Aw. Don't worry your head about it. It's safe, we promise." He added with chuckle as her worried dark eyes glanced at him.
Once in the class, Aura had hard time to focus on lesson, ‚Plan? What plan? Damn Wolfi you screwed again!' She took deep breath and glanced up, Renni sat right opposite her leaning in her chair giving her latest victim- Barra soft smile. Aura flopped her ears down, ignoring the whispers it raised, ‚I remember the times she used to smile at me like that too.' She whined in her head, sighing loudly she returned her gaze to exercise book lying in front of her.
Soft laugh snapped her focus away again, „No Barra. Try again." „But miss Hammer, I really don't know the answer." Barra pleaded looking at her professor. Renni chuckled, „You shouldn't be on your phone then." „But it wasn't my phone. She pushed it in front of me as you looked at us." She argued pointing her finger at Barbra who scowled at her classmate.
Not caring about the conversation, Aura shifted her senses elsewhere, ears twitching she turned them to the door, trying to block the whispers once again, but failing this time, „Do you think she's got some mechanics under them?" „She's really past normality point now, such a freak." „Who does she think she'll impress?" Claws unsheathed at this point Aura drifted away from the class, trying to catch her brother's speech in the next room.
„Agreed then. We'll held the meeting this afternoon." „Alright, we'll tell everyone then."
Aura narrowed her eyes in confusion, 'Was that Mrs. Darling, why she's there? And what's the meeting about-‚
„Aura?" sound of Renni's voice brought her back into her body, looking up she met the light brown eyes of her teacher, „Yes?" she asked sheepishly, „Go to the board, MaxWolf!" „Stop slowing the lessons down!" „Get your wet dreams at home!" Everyone laughed at the comment, except Aura, she stood up trying to look calm and walked to the black board. Turning on her heels she grabbed the chalk, only to be stopped by Renni, „Wait a little longer with this. I just wanted you to answer my questions correctly." She chuckled, her eyes smiling brightly at Aura for the first time, nodding slightly Aura let go of the chalk and turned to face her teacher.
„And right again. Well done you answered everything correctly." Renni said as she let Aura solve the equation.
„The lesson's over!" Suzanne shouted happily as the bell rangs, everyone stuffed Chemistry into bags and prepared the next lesson. As Renni stood up to leave, Barbra took the opputurnity, „Hey, Wolf!" She yelled loudly, Aura closed her eyes mentally preparing herself for what's to come. Barbra stood up and came closer, „Why did you come late? Was it because you've finally made a move on our dear chemistry teacher?" her friends snickered as Renni turned to face them. „Not your business." Aura said coldly, Barbra pretend to be hurt, „Of course it's my business. It's the business of our whole class when you decide to stop fucking her, we need to know so we can prepare to beat you up when we get worse cantor." She explained, „Or do you want us suffer? Do you hate us so badly? Do you, Aurora?" Barbra faked few sobs waiting for Aura to respond.
Taking deep breaths, the feline blinked few times deminishing hurt from her eyes, „Again. It's not your problem." She replied controlling her voice closely, trying to ignore the ache who was piercing through her heart like billions of needles, „But,"
„Barbra, that's enough." Renni said cutting her off, her mouth was twisted with disgust as she stared at the young teen. Aura took the oppoturnity and fled the class.
Matthew and Mikey exited the cabinet just as Aura walked past them. Exchanging confused glances they looked toward the class, „What happened?" Matthew asked in concern, looking at Renni who just closed the door, „I don't…want to talk about it." She dismissed the question with wave of her hand and dissapeared in the cabinet.
„Go after her. I'll confront my sister." Matthew said to Mikey before following Aura's scent, „Okay." Mikey mumbled and knocked on the cabinet.
Matthew found Aura easily, she stood in the hallway staring outside through big window, „You okay?" he asked as he set himself beside her, „Of course, why you're asking?" she replied with big smile. Looking into her eyes Matthew saw the deep ache she was fighting with, „Why you're lying to me?" „And why do you care?" she snapped at him instead of answer, she tried to leave, but he was faster and blocked her way, „Answer me, Wolfi." He said in flat tone. Aura's ears flipped backwards as she bared her teeth, „Why should I?! You come into this world with a plan you told me nothing about! Then you befriend my teachers like you belong here! And all along you're pushing me into the alpha role without caring to ask if I agree!" She snarled at him, furry blazing in her irrises, „Without caring to ask if I'm alright myself." She added her back facing him,
„But," she said turning back toward him, „that's over. Cause I'm done." Matthew tilted his head to side in confusion, „With everything. With this school, with the war, with the pack. I'm done, I've had enough." She finished before leaving. Matthew stared after her in disbelief.
„Did you calm down?" Barra asked as Aura entered the classroom once again, „Such an emberassement. Making miss Hammer disgusted. You better be ashamed with yourself." Clara added. Aura walked past them without saying a word, „Did you really think a trash like you would have a chance with her?" the question made her stop, „What?" was all she managed to get out of her mouth, Janet smirked, „Did you really think a patethic excuse for girl, an ugly freak like you would have stand a chance with someone as miss Hammer?" she repeated her question with a raised eyebrow, Aura gulped feeling coldness spreading over her body, „I-I…" „See patethic. You think you look so cool with the fake ears and tail, you think she'll notice you more. Such a weakling, a patethic freaky weakling, that's what you are! You're pulling us all down, making us a bad name. You're a stupid excuse-„
The words got stuck in her throat as a white canine jumped at her, pulling her down, it trapped her under its body. Snarling, teal eyes lit up with rage, it raised its paw and raked its long sharp talong alongside her face, leaving red marks behind. Janet screamed in pain, but it chose to ignore her, biting into her leg instead. She tried to kick it off of her, but it didn't budge, instead its eyes snapped to her and malicious growl escaped from its blood stained jaws. She looked around for help, but all of her classmates were huddled closely together, pressing against wall farthest from her and the beast. „Please, let me go." Janet sobbed in fear and the white wolf circled around her licking its jaws. Suddenly it leaped into the air and landed on her leg, crack followed by sharp pain signalized a bone broke inside her. Janet let out a cry of pain, she saw the beast sniff at her leg before taking it into its jaws, she closed her eyes and turned her head away.
Sudden yelp and weight lifted off her leg made her open her eyes again, looking up she saw two older looking strange boys holding the struggling wolf between them, „You did enough damage for today!" hissed taller of them as they dragged the wolf out of the class.
„What's wrong with you?!" Aura growled as she transformed back into her humanoid form, „With me?!" Matthew snarled sending her a glare, „For your information, I'm NOT the one who's trying to kill innocents!" „She started it!" Aura spat in argument, Matthew shook his head with a sigh, „You should've been the responsible one and just left." He cut the word battle short and walked back into the cabinet, leaving Aura alone.
„What happened? Is she alright?" Mikey asked frantically moment after Matthew closed the door, „Don't worry aout her." He said and sat down, „We've got bigger problem ahead." He added facing wall in front of him. Mikey exhaled loudly, „Shouldn't one of us go-„ „and inform other cantors and headmaster? Yes, brilliant idea, get into it!" Matthew cut him off pointing at the door, „You and Lucille go. I'll stay here."
Before Mikey could object, Lucille stood up and covered his mouth just as he got his reply ready, „Let's just go." She said calmly leading him onto the hall.
„Hun?" Lucille said silently, „What is it?" „Can you manage to complete the quest alone? I want to check on Aura." Mikey nodded, „Of course." He replied with a smile, Lucille smiled back and parted from him, climbing the stairs up. Mikey watched her dissapear before he started looking for other cabinets.
„Hello, I'm Mikey Leech. I'm here to inform you about important meeting held this afternoon." Mikey said to the first teacher who crossed his path, „Oh, really? Alright. I'll be there." The woman gave him bright smile before walking away. Mikey sighed, 'This is neverending!' he groaned inwardly scratching his head, „At least small part is done." He tried to cheer himself up, but to no awail. 'You're paying for this Matths!' he warned his buddy in his mind.
Lucille found her alpha quite easily. She sat on one window, ears fallen down with tail wrapped around her, her eyes were dull lifeless, staring husks. „Aura?" she called softly trying not to scare the werecat. Nothing. „Wolfi?" she tried again kneeling under her on armchair, she placed her head on the window to get good look on the young feline. Aura didn't move, she stared into nothingness.
