Chapter 3: Chapter 2 - The Doll

The first sight the doll saw was the horizon above the vast body of the ocean. Followed by its second senses - its hearing captures the perfect essence of calmness in a chaotic waves clashing with the sand. The doll views the endless boundary of the sky and the massive body of water with an array of chaos upon its awakening. The doll was completely mesmerised by the sight of it.

The next feeling it experience was the sense of softness within its hands, gripping gentler by every second. Realising the feeling, the doll looks towards the direction where the soft sensation comes from. Bewildered, or rather, the doll was enamoured to what it saw.

[A stuffed toy]

A stuffed toy filled with cotton and a soft fur like fabric which was pieced together to shape like an animal. Its species cannot be determined by the structure itself, although it can be classified by the similarities of characteristics it shares from what it was based on. Although with the condition of the stuffed animal, it cannot be identified.

The stuffed toy was far too old, and the mold from its yarns can easily tear the stuff toy apart. Not only that, its button on its head fell on the casket, half of its cloth was stained of dust and mold, and other parts of its fur like skin was stiffed.

Even with the given problem on the stuffed toy, the doll lifts it and placed it on its lap. The doll sits on the casket looking at the stuffed toy as the word 'lost' can be described to the doll. Both conscious and unconscious - the doll was [alive] but it's not 'living' thus, it can't feel any emotion to what it saw.

>Task Acquired

- [Fix the stuffed toy, Tierra.]

"..."

The doll received an order.

>Task/

- - - [Look for the following materials]

"..."

The doll's eyes widen and begun to lift its head. It follows by carrying its own body and grabbing the edge of the casket. Once more, its legs start functioning to assist the doll from moving itself up.

Even though this doll is a machine, the little mistake of lightly gripping the edge becomes more bothersome. Because of this minor error, the doll accidentally falls off from casket. The feeling of [hurt] does not exist in the doll; rather it was there to set a [lesson] to rewrite in its program. Still, the doll utters a word "ouch" under its breath.

The feeling of the sand mix with a greenish leaf, the dolls head rest upon it. It may also soften the doll's impact to the ground. After a short moment, the doll tries to stand up again.

The doll shrugs some sand and dirt off its face and clothes. Looking below to its feet, the doll slowly and gently tries to walk while carrying the stuffed toy in its hand. With a little stumble and fall, the doll, little by little, learns to walk.

To what its destination, the doll looked upon a fallen building near to the ocean, a building that was befallen to the hands of nature itself, warped under its own arms as the roots and vines inhabit the broken building.

The doll walks towards the building with a slow pacing, as the ocean's waves kept its calming sound amidst the doll's little journey to the broken building. For every step, the doll leaves a mark on the sand tracing back to the casket, and yet, for every clash of waves hitting the sand, those footprints left being filled once again, eventually getting erased. Almost four hours has passed, the destination is almost at reach.

For every, step the building becomes closer. For every step, the building gets taller. As for every step, the details of the building become more grotesque.

Eventually, the doll stand stood in front the building. The details become clearer, the damage was unimaginable, and the plants came to look like a predator slowly eating away its prey. From the opposite direction towards the ocean, far ahead to a small forest, a torn piece of the building was the only left standing.

It was relatively far away from its other part. It was torn apart by the disaster, and also been swept away by the second wave. It was one of the most horrifying aftermaths that brought into this world disaster.

As for the doll, it never felt anything witnessing the damaged building. No emotions that surfaces within its core. The doll felt -nothing-.

The doll looks for an entrance to the damaged building to savage the materials it was looking for. To its surprise, it is much more difficult to find one because almost half of it was buried under the sand, and for the most part, it was completely covered by plant roots. Towards near the body of the ocean, a broken glass reflects to the eyes of the doll, seeing through a small open window of the building.

The doll noticed the reflecting glass, but to a brief second at its eyes shines through its ocean like colour. As to the doll, that brief second becomes a minute. The bright ray of the sun looks like a faded memory from a distant.

...

[There was a girl - a young, beautiful, innocent girl who was mesmerised by the colours of the sky, an endless and colourful sky that touch both heaven and earth. The girl once said, "The sky feels like a place where our angels watch us!"

Even when she's all grown up, the sky was the only thing she ever loved. But life was too cruel for the young girl; the word 'angels' was long gone. That's why her perspective of the sky changes, "The sky feels like the only place where one can truly be free..."]

The doll muttered a small story, although it was not brief.

It was never finished.

A bird flew off in front of the doll, flying away at a distance where its eyes can only reach. Because of that, the doll becomes aware of the sound of its voice, immediately stopping to what it is saying and proceeds to what it is intended to do.

...

The doll walks towards the window where the light reflects to its eyes. For a brief moment, the sound of waves clashing to the sand becomes louder followed by a brief silent, as every step the doll takes, the same sound pattern of the wave's takes place. For each step the doll takes, the broken glass that reflects the light on to its eyes becomes clearer.

In truth, that broken piece of glass that was a part to a mirror. It was supposed to be attached to the wall, but as fragile as it is, the mirror was shattered to a million pieces. Those pieces was scattered all across the room itself, beginning to look like a giant jigsaw puzzle.

The doll entered the building, and immediately searches for the necessary material to fix the stuffed toy its carrying.

Looking through everything, from the broken cabinet to a fallen shelf, the doll searched for every nooks and crannies this room can offer. The image of placing back the furniture was once present in this very room, a clear stature of conclusion has appeared. The room was only a quarter of living space; next to it was a dining room. Without piecing together the torn furniture pieces, this place would be nothing but the word dreadful...

Straight towards the doll, there was a room that was painted in a light red colour with a childlike pattern. Due to the weather and the sheer amount of time has passed, the colour was distorted, and it was on the verge of fading away.

The doll looks towards the door and clutches its hands without knowing why. Its blank expression was not fazed and continues to stare blankly.
