Chapter 6: The Fight of Halloween Night

Harry's friends watched intently while he talked to Esther's friends, they didn't trust them at all. Axel was standing next to them, trying to take their mind off of the possible danger.

"Ok, guys," Axel sounds exasperated. "You should at least try to be subtle about this. You can't just stare at them."

"Actually we can," Brooke says.

"And we will," Holt finishes her sentences.

"O. M. G!" A voice squeals. "Are you the guardians?"

"Yes!" Axel answers. "They are!"

The girl who had just come up to them squeals, causing Ella to wince. "Can I get a picture?"

"No-" Axel cuts off Ella.

"Of course, you can," he says with a smile. "I'll even take it for you."

Axel trades places with the girl and holds her phone up. She places herself between Brooke and Holt, smiley widely. The guardians smile to be nice, waiting for Axel to take the picture. Ella looks at the camera for a second before looking back to Harry. Only to find his hand hanging limply around Josh and his friend while Bethany leads them to another room.

Ella goes to walk away but is stopped by the girls' hands grabbing her arm. Ella tries to pull her arm out of her grasp but struggles.

"Where are you going? We still have pictures to take," the girl had a sweet smile but a vicious undertone in her voice.

"If you don't let me go in the next second I will freeze your arms off," Ella threatens.

When she realizes the girl isn't going to let go she immediately starts forming ice on her hands. The girl tries to hold on but lets go of her arms. Ella quickly turns toward the direction she saw them go in, her friends following her.

They run out of the room and see Esther's friends taking Harry into one of the other rooms. They run after them and Brooke grabs the doorknob, twisting it but being unsuccessful in opening it. Ella moves her out of the way and freezes the knob, breaking it off in an instant.

They push the door open and find Harry lying unconscious on a bed with Esther and friends standing around him.

"That idiot really doesn't know how to do something does she," Esther looks at her friends in annoyance.

"I'm about to show you what I can do," Ella walks up to Esther and wraps her hands around her throat.

Snowflakes form on Esther's skin as Ella forces ice to enter her body. Josh and his friends try to go after her but their feet are tied to the floor by green vines.

"Don't even think about it," Holt threatens.

"Let's get him out of here," Brooke walks to Harry's side and tries to wake him up. When she realizes he won't, she forms a cloud next to him, hovering above the ground. Holt uses more vines to lift Harry from the bed onto the cloud. Axel walks to Ella while Brooke and Holt take Harry back to the car.

"Ella," Axel tries to pull the water guardian's hands off of his sister's throat. "Ella, let go."

"She drugged him," Ella says in a low voice. Esther was clawing at her arms, trying to get her away. "Who knows what she would've done to him."

"You can't kill her, Ella," Axel says, still trying to pull her hands off.

"Why not!?" Ella turns to Axel with eyes glowing gold. "She could've done anything to him if we weren't paying attention. Do you know how this is gonna make Harry feel?"

"You can't kill her!" Axel yells.

"Why not!" Ella yells back.

"Because you're not a killer Ella" Axel tries to reason with her.

"I just might become one," Ella turns back to Esther.

Empress Persephone walks into the room and builds up a fire between Ella and her daughter. Ella's hands release Esther's throat as she runs away from the flame. Esther runs to her mother, ready to tell her a lie. Persophone puts up a hand, pausing her from speaking.

"I will speak to you when we get home. Guards!" She yells. "Take Princess Esther home. Now."

"But mom-" Esther begins.

"Enough!" Emperor Hades tells her. He walks to Ella after Esther is taken out of the room.

"Guardian," He says softly. "Let me see your eyes."

Ella refuses to look up from the floor. She was ashamed of how she had reacted, she promised herself then and there that she would never hurt someone again.

"Child," Persophone stands next to them. "Look at me. Please."

Ella slowly lifts her eyes up at the empress of Hell. She shows her eyes that were glowing a beautiful gold color. The royal family of Elder Woods had entered the room and saw her eyes. Everyone except for Hades, Persophone, and Axel gasped.

"Give me your hands," Ella puts her hands in the empress's hands.

Persophone warms her arms, allowing heat to flow from herself to the guardian. The ice that had formed around Ella's arms faded away and her eyes go back to their normal dark brown. Persophone slowly drops her arms and steps away from her.

"What happened to her?" Empress Iris asks.

"Nothing happened to her," Emperor Hades turns to everyone. "She has only revealed her true self."

"And what would that be?" Cheryl asks in an obnoxious voice.

"The Golden Guardian," Hades says sternly.

Everyone looks at each other, shocked at who she was. The Golden Guardian only came once every thousand generations, it was a very rare thing. Nobody questioned it was Ella because only the Golden Guardian could have eyes that glowed gold.

"I need to go check on my friend," Ella leaves the room quickly. She takes the elevator down to the first floor and walks to the car.

Ella finds her friends in the car they had come in, Brooke and Holt were in the back with Harry, trying to wake him up. Ella sits in the driver's seat and starts driving back to the castle in Elder Woods.

"What happened after we left?" Holt asks.

"I almost killed Esther," Ella says in a monotone voice.

"Why didn't you?" Brooke says, her words laced with hatred.

"Because Empress Persophone stopped me before I could," Ella explains, still emotionless.

"Anything else we should know about?" Holt asks.

"Yeah," Ella says.

"We're the Golden Guardians."
