Chapter 4: HOW ABOUT GETTING A JOB
He wanted us to eat? He might have been thinking about me. That was nice of him. We were outside and he walked straight to a motorcycle.He set it up and walked towards me.
He took off his leather jacket and wore it on me.
"Hop on".he said and sat on the bike.
"wait.. am going to sit on..on the bike?". I asked.
"What you haven't sat on it before?".
"Not really?".
"Sit or walk".
I couldn't walk hungry. I would die on the way. And I didn't care the stature of the restaurant wether it was A- class or not. AJ helped me to the bike.I held on to him as if he was dear life. I looked down and I felt like vomiting.
I closed my eyes and then finally the motor came to a halt.We ordered our food.
I ate food like it was the oxygen I needed. Food never tasted sooo good. I was done eating.And AJ was staring at me when I looked up.
"I'm sorry". I whispered.
"No I am sorry".he replied.
"for what?".I asked.
"Shouting at you earlier and starving you".he replied.
"no you didn't starve me and I deserve to be shouted at". I replied.
There was silence.
"I never asked. Why were you not focused in the kitchen".he asked.
"I had a call from my lawyer and things went pretty bad. The lawyer said Isla would be in government custody because I am not financially stable. I wonder how she's coping".
I answered.
" Well there's a solution to that". he said.
"Really? How?" I asked.
"How about getting a job?" he asked.
" A job?"I answered.
"Yes".
I always thought I wouldn't have to find a job. The Job was ready to find me at my own company.
"what job actually?"I asked.
"I don't know you have the qualifications. Just go look for a job then you can have Isla here".
"okay".
We sat, stared, smiled, ate more and drank. AJ broke the silence.
"you know nothing about me". he said.
"Huh?"I answered startled.
" I have realized we haven't properly introduce ourselves".
"Ah, yes".
"okay, I will start. My name is Ajax. I have a brother don't bother about his name. And a sister who lives with our aunt in California". he said.
" Oh okay. Your mom?" I asked curiously.
There was a loud silence. I guessed I shouldn't have brought that up.
"oh I am...".
"She left us, divorced our dad and married a richer man".he answered emotionless.
"oh sorry".I said.
"it's nothing".
"Soooo, how did my dad know your father?". I asked.
"They were college friends. They lived together for a while and when your dad got married they moved into separate houses in the same neighborhood. We were friends...".
"You aaand?".
"I and you".
"And you never thought of telling me?" I asked.
"I thought you knew"!!
"well, how old was I when we were friends and why don't I remember being friends with you?".
"Hardly a year?".
"so how did you recognize me?"
"I told I'd recognize those eyes anywhere".
