Chapter 2: Remembering
It has been almost six months after her death-rebirth experience, and Shen Ling was getting used to her new life.
Though one thing that she couldn't understand was the birthmark that she had in her right leg's inner ankle. It was a blue-flame like thing, but if she touched it, it gave a chill feeling... So, she decided to call it the "Ice Flame" birthmark.
Since she couldn't find any information about the birthmark, she decided to ignore it.
Although she had the intelligence of an 18-year-old, she almost knew nothing about ancient times except the things she learnt through reading novels. She was very uncomfortable in the first month without a fan or A/C. But as it was the winter season, it didn't affect her that much.
Later she got used to everything. But she had to learn everything all over again, as she doesn't know anything about this place. She Ling felt that it was alright, as she had a loving family.
She found that she had two uncles and a few cousins. Not that she liked them... They were an annoying bunch... Especially her two aunts. Both of them had fake smiles whenever they came to visit her and her sister. But since their parents didn't object to them visiting, she also didn't. But if they became too annoying, she'd definitely do something to scare them away from her.
Just as she was thinking, she felt someone pull her dress. It was her twin sister, Jiao Jiao.
Well, Jiao Jiao is her sister's nickname and her full name was Shen Miao.
And her own nickname was Xiao Hua and her full name was Shen Ling.
When she thought about her twin sister and her family, she felt as if she had heard of those names somewhere...
'Wait! wasn't Shen Miao the protagonist of "Rebirth of Malicious Empress of the Military Lineage" novel...?'
All of it made sense to her... Shen Xin, Shen Qiu, Lou Xue Yan and Shen Miao...
She had read too many novels that she had not realized it. So it was only now that she remembered it. If it wasn't for the fact that it was one of the best novels that she had read, she wouldn't have realized even this.
'So... Wow! I'm Shen Miao's twin sis!' she thought.
But it took a moment for her to fully grasp what that meant. It meant that they were under the Fu Family's mercy, who wanted to eliminate their family at all costs. And all the scheming b**chs of the Shen Family...
When she realized it, she really wanted to shout out loud that, " FREAKING HELL! I'M SHEN MIAO'S TWIN SISTER!!!!"
But, all that came out of her mouth was...."wawa... vooo woo.."
It scared her wet nurse and her mother. So her mother took her in her embrace.
When she was held by her mother, the warmth made her calm down.
She has come to love this family of hers in the past six months. And she wouldn't allow any freaking Shen family or the Fu family to mess with her or with her family.
Hell! She finally found a peaceful family with two siblings and those people wanted to ruin it. She definitely wouldn't let them have their way.
But she wouldn't use Shen Miao's methods. It wasn't suitable for her, nor was it cost-effective. It was too precise and wouldn't happen if something changed. And her presence itself would change some things, and there were many other factors.
She'd protect her family in her own way.
First, she started to remember all the things that happened according to the timeline and went over them again and again, so as not to forget them.
And she had so many grand plans that would let her succeed. She wasn't worried at all. Except, she didn't know how long it would take it to achieve all that.
'Could it be that I'm overestimating myself? I better be careful, cuz this is not a novel only and this is reality", she thought.
So, she carefully began planning.
First, she doesn't want to be the Empress. It's too much of a burden for her, and if she wanted to slack off, she wouldn't be able to do it. And who knows, if it interferes with Xie Jing Xing's plan, he'd stop at nothing to kill her. She wasn't her sister to be let off by him even after provoking him. Although she'd love to see how he looks as the author had praised his looks to the heavens, 'Bro-in-law' is off-limits.
It was her sister's job to be the Empress and Xie Jing Xing's wife... After all, she was one of the hardcore shippers of this pair... She'd love to see it happen with her own eyes. And, for that to happen, she couldn't have Shen Miao grow up as she used to. She'd have to do something about that.
And for her grand plan to happen, first she would have to observe the world well. Since it was ancient times, things worked in quite a different way from what she knew, and things that she always read in novels couldn't be fully trusted. Also, it would be better if she experienced things in person rather than having read about it.
For all these, she should be hardworking.
Yeah, she was lazy to the bones. But not when her own life was on the line. She knew how the original Shen Family ended before Jiao Jiao's rebirth. And now that she was here, even if it was not to protect her family, she should protect herself too. She was also a Shen Family member after all. One decree to sentence the family to extermination, and that's all, she'd die.
So she definitely couldn't let that happen.
But what if it did happen? She needs to prepare for that as well. Even if the Fu family decides to exterminate their family, she'd have to have the ability to protect them from them. She was sure that if something like that had happened, XJX would definitely have the ability to save the Shen Family unscathed.
