Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Learning the Ropes

Rengoku rode through the city, admiring the beautiful city with it's cyberpunk esthetic along with spirits flying around. The cars run entirely on water, but only due to the government being backed into a corner with the gasoline running dry, and the mutants refusal to make more of it. Rengoku looked at some police men going about their job, but out of sight since he technically was suspended for driving due to an accident. So he parked his motorcycle in an alleyway and walked the rest of the way to his base. He then saw his newest and youngest recruit, Ningyo Akuma. He was a chubby boy and 5'7. He had slick back baby blue hair, with red eyes, and was wearing a tank top with pants that stopped halfway down his calves. Rengoku personally trained him as he was half merman and half devil. In some ways he can relate as he was half devil and half Shinigami. "Hey, Ren. I was wondering if we could....if we could do a mission together? I don't feel comfortable doing this on my own." he asked, to which Rengoku agreed. Ningyo was shy and not very confident in his own powers over water and fire. He had the capacity for magic, but he feared blowing himself up. A report came in that a biker gang in Shinjuku started making mass casualties, and they were stealing important cybernetic chips in order to try gaining control in other countries. Many gangs would like to create insane chaos in other countries all for the sake of it, and no one wants that, so the deploy special forces to deal with them. "Okay, come on. Let's go to the motorcycles. Make sure you pack your weapon, that way we don't have to worry about getting shot full of holes." Ren said as he went to get his sword. All Ningyo had was a manriki chain and a few spell cards he never used.

As they both began to ride, they noticed a car following them which seemed suspicious, so they began to speed up and see if the car would turn at some point, but it kept pace. A person flew out of the car and rushed at them at superhuman speed, causing Rengoku to grab Ningyo and both of them flew into the air with a flight spell, with their motorcycles automatically going back to the base. The person caught them anyways and pinned them both to the ground. "Not so quick are you boys. You know the rules, suspension means no driving until your license is returned, don't make me tell you again!" the person said. It turned out to be Harris Taylor, the son of 2 of the most successful police duo of the last 3 years and older brother to the youngest detective. He was wearing his usual black shirt with a demonic pentagram and fishnet shirt over it, with green skinny jeans with gothic man boots and his dreadlocks in a ponytail and dyed with red highlights. Rengoku smiled at him like he was teasing. "Oh no! Police brutality, its the early 1900's all over again!" he laughed, but Harris just hit him over the head for the joke. All the same he knew about the corruption that still goes on. He knew that the color of his skin would always make him a mark, and was also scared for his younger brother who has autism, and an innocent view of the world. He cleared his mind and helped Rengoku and Ningyo up off the ground. "You know, you guys should be studying. I thought you wanted to become a powerful exorcist like your mom." Harris said. Rengoku showed him the mission they recieved and promised that he'd study hard to be able to get better grades. Harris let them off with a warning, and gave them a teleporting card that allowed them to teleport to anywhere they wished, and wished them good luck. Rengoku held Ningyo's hand and they traveled to Shinjuku within a matter of seconds, and saw the biker gang heading their way.

Ningyo was scared, utterly too terrified to take a single step and he started to smell like salt water. Rengoku calmed him down, assuring that he'll support him as best he can while they disable their advance. The leader pulled up on them and got up to their faces telling them to move so they can pass, but Rengoku didn't move an inch and insulted his hair and breath. "If you want us to move why not pull the trigger on that ridiculous hairdo you got gun head? Oh wait, maybe the smell of that nasty left over and expired tuna fish from a year ago will melt us both and you'll just ride over us. You're not even worth a date, and I'm into biker dudes. Sucks to be you I suppose. Now hop back on those trash heaps you call bikes, return what you stole, and maybe I'll be inclined to knock out just one tooth from each of your braindead-" he was cut off from a surprise punch he narrowly blocked with his hand. Rengoku just smiled widely, with his hands seemingly engulfed in white flames. "Well, just know I gave you the option. Let's try this. Awaken." he said as a singular chant as one of his talisman began to take the form of what seemed like a large turtle with a very long neck. This was one of his God Shikigami, the spirit of Genbu the Black Turtle. Ningyo looked at Rengoku's calm and serious demenor and tried to summon as much courage as possible to turn his chain weapon into a trident, and succeeded. With every spin, it generated water, and his arms began to shine with the scales refracting light from the water. The other gang members all had cybernetics, so they manifested things from their own personal cyberspace network. It was essentially a 2 on 50 fight, and both sides were ready to fight. Rengoku took a single step and suddenly disappeared, then reappeared with a kick to the leader's jaw with a follow up palm strike to his chest. He very subtly added his Oni Arms spell to give it the strength he could'nt provide on his own, and all the other gang members started to charge. Ningyo was still scared, but he closed his eyes and imagined himself dancing. His body suddenly went fluid and he moved like he was doing tai chi and dancing at the same time. Each strike was calculated perfectly, multiple gang members came at him from different angles but he countered every single one with his eyes completely shut. Rengoku was still going with a pure fist fight, and seemed to slightly predict each member's moves a split second before they made it, and countered with pressure point combat. Their combined efforts along with Genbu's protective shell and earth manipulation powers were helping them win. After a minute, they had completely beaten all 50 of the members, and left them unconsious on the floor, while also taking the various computer chips they stolen, and gotten each and every address. Rengoku called the police to take the members away and deliver the chips back to their owners, and flew back to the base. Ningyo blushed that Rengoku saw his fighting style, and how revealing it must've looked with the water making his skin shine, but Rengoku just smiled and patted him on the back for doing a great job with his eyes closed and his mind focused on the prize.
