Chapter 69: Adina
As the Guide, Able continued to speak, preaching about the importance of the eugenics and "pure power" that came with select breeding within the cult and how it drew one closer to Emancia Cane was having a slight mental aneurysm

"Oh god," he whispered under his breath for what must have been the sixth time, imagining the girl's reaction if they found him and discovered he had "cheated". There were many variations to what could happen but they all lead to one conclusion, DEATH. Bloody and painful
As Cane was busy wrapping his head around his newly acquired relationship status, Able had finished his speel about the importance of bloodline and general gene selection and had moved on to another topic
"Any more questions?" the words echoed through the crowd, causing the crowd to shift, the previous man and couple forgotten and meshed back into the herd. It took a few moments and two repeats of the same request on ables behalf but eventually, a man stepped forward, looking rather worried
As he began to speak, Cane could see sweat pouring off the man's forehead
"What if…*Ahem* What if you don't like women?" the man asked, rubbing his hands together gently.
"You mean if you are homosexual?" Able clarify, tilting his head and causing the man to both blush and flinch "Hmmm, good question! Are there any others facing the same issue?!" he yelled, looking toward the crowd
After a few tense seconds, a hand timidly rose above the crowd's heads, clearly belonging to a female this time. After being ushered forward the woman moved to the front of her group, leaving behind her shocked male counterpart before stepping next to the man who had originally asked the question
"Good, good…" Able nodded, before turning back to the crowd, "any others? No?"
He turned to the shepherd beside him, looking at him directly before promptly taking the man's gun and shooting the man and woman in the head
*BANG!* *BANG!*
Screams erupted from the crowd and people began to shift, Cane grabbed his "wife" up from the ground, lifting her to his chest and holding her close, preparing to run for it. However, despite the screams and panic the crowd soon stilled themselves when faced with the guns of all the shepherds and the stern gaze of Able who starred at the crowd with an empty gaze as he crushed the skull of one of the corpses beneath his feet, causing the whole corpse to turn to ash
{its a religious cult, what did you expect?}
Was that his ability?
Leveling an empty gaze at the crowd their once pleasant seeming guide opened his mouth, speaking coldly "there will be no abominable relationships within the family of Emancia, there will be no ungifted, there will be no conflict and there will be no black sheep amongst the flock" the man repeated, sounding like he was reading from a textbook, his mask sparkling with flecked blood
"If your partner was just removed from the flock, you will be partnered with another and move on" the cold mask continued, indicating toward the two people whose partners had just been brutally killed in front of them "thankfully there is still an even number of people so you will be paired together."
The room seemed as if it had dropped sixty degrees in the past few minutes as Cane watched the two crying individuals get moved towards each other by the shepherds before being escorted out of the cathedral
However, thankfully the atmosphere changed drastically the moment they left as, warmth returned to the voice of Able, and by extension the room as he gently lifted a hand, pointing towards the same door the two widows had been escorted through
"You will now be escorted to your temporary quarters and assigned your future posts in the family, some of you may be shipped across the country or may take a post within the city, but no matter what… you will be in Emansias grace" he finished, sounding as if he had just finished a tour through a museum and hadn't killed two people just because of their sexual orientation
As able stepped back, the shepherds drew closer, escorting the group towards the door, ignoring the fresh looks of fear and whimpers that the people were now exhibiting
The shepherds had just begun shifting people through the doors, two at a time when
Cane felt a hand on his shoulder. Stopping himself from reacting harshly or squeezing the girl in his arms too tightly, turning around slightly at the pull Cane quikly glimpsed who had pulled on his shoulder
Able, his now gold and red mask glinting in the light
"Not you," he said shaking his head and pointing towards a nearby Shepard "you and miss Adina will be following him to a separate location"
Miss Adina?
Looking towards the girl in his arms Cane inclined his neck slightly, looking into the girl's eyes "Adina?"
Getting a nod followed by yet another piercing stare, which gave Cane a nostalgic feeling, he let out a slight chuckle before slowly stepping towards the shepherd, putting Adina down and instead holding her hand as he followed the shepherd, prepared to fight if/when needed

{Alice pov}
"Fucking cultists" Alice growled in her mind as she watched her body leap from rooftop to rooftop, not stopping for a second, she had given Wolfy full control at the moment
"WE NEED TO FIND CANE, THEN WE WILL RIPP AND TEAR THEM APART SO SLOWLY THAT THEY WILL FEEL EACH DROP OF BLOOD LEAVING THEIR BODY" the lupine screamed into the wind, not on for stealth, as she cracked tiles and concrete with each step "THEY TOOK OUR MATE. OUR MATE!!!!! I'M GOING TO FORCE THAT STUPID OLD MAN TO WATCH AS I SCALP EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS DISCIPLES, FLATTEN HIS CATHEDRAL, AND SKIN HIS GODDESS ALIVE!!"
"And that's if we get there before Jasmin and the others" Alice reminded her counterpart, smirking at the thought of what torture methods Jasmin might cook up this time. For all the issues Alice had with her, she had to respect her mind, twisted and morbid as it was
