Chapter 9: Chapter 9: A Day In Mu City

On a beautiful morning, the light from the sun shunned brightly across Mu City. Standing on the balcony of Blue Moon Hotel a young woman age 17 years old look upon the city with a complicated smile, it evidently showed that she didn't want to be here but she couldn't deny how majestic the city looks from her vantage point.
Xiang Hua, one of the princesses from the capital arrived in Mu city last night and it wasn't by choice. Her father, Xiang Fan the son of Xiang Tong was having a few business meetings here in the city and he brought her along for a learning experience. However his real goal was to lend his eyes and ears towards the situation with the Deputy Mayors' death and his replacements. It's no secret to Xiang Fan that they may be other forces at play but his goal was to surmise if there was any benefit for his family in either supporting the new Deputy Mayor or withholding any opinions on the matter.
Their family has ties with the government in the capital so it's best to understand the undercurrents that may or may not be back by forces in said capital.
Meanwhile Xiang Hua not wanting to be here didn't stop her from be curious "Good Morning Dad" she said to her father in which he replied with the same. "Dad can I go and see the City while you go to the meeting?" "You know the meeting is for you to also get experience. One day you would have to share the burdens with your older brothers for the family's sake" he said in reply. "I know dad but I never really get to explore and meet people, isn't that an experience of itself?" She questioned, using her smart brain to flip the discussion in her favor. "I see what you did there, but that's not going to work every time. You must return to the hotel by 3pm is that clear." A simple appeared on her face she immediately ran to her father and hugged him while giving him a kiss on the cheek "thanks dad you are the best" she said flattering him. After that she left the hotel on her way to explore the city.

Nan'Ke had already woken up on this fine morning while having already completed his daily quest earning him 500LP. After yesterday's investigation into the police station and knowing he is not being track he decided to head out to the city to gain some fresh air and relax a bit seeing that he has been tense for the past few days.
'Nice day to be outside, the sun is not too hot and there is a gentle breeze that comes from the sea' he said while walking out of the community. He decided to go shopping today seeing that he didn't have much clothes as well as groceries after only buying takeout. 'Let's buy the clothes first, I would have them delivered and then I would go to the grocery store to get the goods. I should probably cook more' he continues talking to himself while on his way to Sky Mall. The mall had many stores and kiosks and was popular with the younger generation.
Nan'Ke entered the Burberry clothing store, a luxury foreign clothing store from the United Brits Nations. "Good day sir, my name is Tricia how can I help you today?" The sales representative said. "I would like a casual set of clothes and a formal suit as well as a cologne" Nan'Ke said and proceeded to try out the various styles of clothing she brought, being satisfied with a causal white T-shirt and a black short pants along with a black 3-piece suit. After paying $2,200 and asking it to be delivered to his home Nan'Ke was on to the next store.
He shopped as various stores by a few clothing here and there, shoes include as well as a few accessories such as watches. He bought an inexpensive Timex as well as a Seiko for a combined total of $500. After shopping his total spent was $3,450 including the $2,200 he spent at Burberry.
On his way out of the mall as his goods would be delivered someone had bumped into him causing his phone to fall out of his hand. "Oh shit, you could have watch where you're going you know?" He said not even looking at the person but bending down to pick up his phone only to see it had been smashed after falling on the hard tiled floor. He then looked at the person responsible and his breath was taken away, she was a young beautiful woman with black hair that was tied up, rosy pink lips attached to her oval like face with gentle brown eyes and light beige skin. Her body had no excess fat on it but she wasn't all bones as she had 'those' assets as well.
"Oh I'm sorry please forgive me I was distracted by the surroundings of this place" Xiang Hua said while giving a slight bow in show of her sincerity. "It fine, but you must be careful next time" Nan'Ke replied not wanting to make a big deal of it seeing she was a pretty girl, it might be different if it was a guy but he didn't care if he was being hypocritical. Seeing his phone smashed Xiang Hua offered "how about I buy you a new one as a form of apology?" "Well since you offered it would rude of me to decline" Nan'Ke said while thinking this may be opportunity to get to know the beauty.
While his life only exists of learning and academic competition, he was not naïve when it came to the opposite sex, nervous yes and at times overwhelmed he can hold a conversation with a girl and not pass out.
As they make they way to the phone store they both start conversing of minute things such as names and where they came from. Nan'Ke was surprise to learn that she was from the capital, even more so her age when she said she was seventeen. He took one step to side away from her to make sure they were not in close proximity of each other, "hahahahaha" she laughs understanding what he was doing.

"Don't worry I turn 18 in a few days" she said while still smiling, seeing him act like that made her see that he wasn't a creep well at least on the surface but she seemed a little more comfortable in there conversation after that. After purchasing his new phone albeit with the financial aid of Xiang Hua, Nan'Ke wanted to return the favor buy offering a meal, "would you like to have lunch with me? it the least I can do" She thought for a while then said "why not, seeing you did the inviting can I pick the place?" *chuckles* "Sure, let's go," he said as they look naturally comfortable with each other.
After that they went to a fried chicken restaurant for a meal and talked about there aspirations and their plans for future (which might seem weird as they are typically strangers but it's easier to talk to someone who has no particular prejudice towards you) "Well I want to own my own business, being your own boss where you don't have to be under someone's thumb is my desire" Nan'Ke said offering his reasoning as well not at all worried about speaking with her about his goals etc. "I see, so you want that freedom of life and career. Well we can't all have that" she replied while the sadness could be heard throughout her sentence she kept a smile on her face. "I want to be my own person, I'm not sure what I would do if I had the opportunity but I would at least like a choice". She uttered but then caught herself as she didn't want to reveal more than she already had to someone who is a complete stranger, but it felt good saying it out loud at least but her face didn't reflect that.
"Well enough about me, so what business venture are you seeking to start?" Trying to deflect the conversation in a different direction she asked. Nan'Ke notice the changes in her from her facial expression of a plight she can't seem to overcome to one of a bubbly energetic girl. "Well I was thinking-" before he could finish his sentence he was interrupted by a voice "Miss Xiang good day, I must say you are more beautiful in person that the photos give you credit for." Nan'Ke was baffled seeing this person interrupted him but he didn't say anything because he thought they knew each other however that idea didn't last long "who are you?" Xiang Hua said. "Forgive me Miss Xiang, my name is Mu Yen of the Mu family here in Mu city".
"Well as you can see Mr. Mu I'm currently speaking with someone so if you don't mind…" Implying that she wants him to leave Mu Yen was a bit embarrassed as all this was in public view, he then glanced as Nan'Ke who wasn't even paying him any attention which made him more aggrieved; "Who are you and how do you know Miss Hua?" "I don't think I need to answer that now do I Mr. Mu?" Nan'Ke replied adding some tension in the air.
Seeing the situation Nan'Ke then said "Miss Xiang it was nice meeting you I hope you stay well in the future and may you wish come through" he said before getting up and taking his leave without giving Xiang Hua a chance to reply.
After that fiasco Nan'Ke went to the grocery store to buy his goods before returning home, however on his way back he noticed a car was following him so instead of going to the Jade community he went into the open park nearby by to get a good look at the person and not to his surprise it was the young man he had just met Mu Yen. Seeing this he said "it's true what they say, trouble always follows after beauty". Before disappearing through alleyways adjacent to the park to loose his tail before heading home.

Mind_Medicine Chapter 9- I thank those who read my novel as I didn't expect to get this much traction but thank you nonethless. If you are wondering why the Mc acts like he is a mighty figure when he isn't its because of his plan which is become one. To his understanding become one with status would not only be background but attitude as well. It would make more sense soon. His first altercation is coming and hopefully it would be a game changer.
