There I was, shaking hands with the CEO of Music of Tomorrow Entertainment (MTE), Bin Soo-hyuk, also known as Hipster Hyuk. I could not believe my interview had gone so smoothly.
“Welcome to the family, Doctor Marchesa,” he said with a firm handshake.
“Please, call me Melody,” I answered him with a bright smile.
“Very well. Melody, it is. Now then, when would you like to meet your team?”
“Team, sir?”
“Of course. I assume you would like to meet the staff that works with BHY (Beating Hearts of Youth) first, or would you prefer to meet with the boys first?”
“Oh, right.” I blinked for a moment, quickly thinking before jumping to a conclusion. “I suppose it would be more formal to meet the staff first, right?”
“Well, in this case, it is entirely up to you, seeing as how you are the professional.”
“It is, however, your company though, sir,” I tried to emphasize.
“I insist, ladies first.”
“All right, you win. I would prefer to meet my clients first then. If that is okay with you?”
“That is perfectly fine with me. The boys should be in dance practice right now if my memory serves me correct.”
“Seeing them dance on day one? I must be pretty lucky.”
He laughed as he stood up and fixed his suit coat before motioning toward the door. “Let us be on our way then, and I shall introduce you to them. I am sure they will be delighted to meet you.”
I nodded as I stood up and straightened out my navy-blue knee-high dress; it was tight enough to show that I am a woman but loose enough to show that I am a lady. Then I grabbed my purse, tossing the strap over my shoulder to lay across my chest. I followed the CEO over to the door, and he stepped to the side as he opened it.
“Ladies first,” he insisted.
“Thank you,” I bowed slightly with a smile before exiting the conference room and into the hallway. The walls were cream-colored, but they had various album covers decorating the hallway.
“This way,” he gestured as he made his way out of the room.
I gave a slight nod and quietly followed behind him. It was quiet in the halls, but I figured that was because most people would be working instead of wandering the halls at this time of day. I felt a little nervous about meeting the world’s current most prominent boy band. However, I was always anxious to meet new clients. Though that may seem weird, considering I am a psychologist. However, I just like to refer to myself as mental health support because it sounds less intimidating.
After walking down several hallways, we stopped in front of a large black door with no window. However, if you really focused, you could hear the bass coming from the music.
“This is the practice studio,” he started as he placed his hand on the doorknob with his eyes on me, “Are you ready to meet them?”
“Yes, “I answered without hesitation.
He smiled before turning back to the door and turning the knob. The music flowed into the hallway as he slowly opened the door. Then, he reached over to the radio and stopped the music. That is when I heard him call out to them.
“Boys! May I steal your attention for a moment? There is someone here that I would like you all to meet...”
I took a deep breath as I stepped into the room wearing a smile, my wavy silver hair resting on my shoulders. All eyes were on me as Bin Soo-hyuk gestured toward me with his hand.
“May I introduce you to Doctor Melody Marchesa. Starting today, she will be your counselor for your mental health. So please, treat her with the utmost respect.”
