Chapter 66: A Hidden Adversary

The next morning, Mina had Xander round up the elves to take care of them. He'd be left behind, but his strength was enough to take care of transporting fifteen elves.

After leaving him to take care of the elves, the group set off towards Truvale once more. The first day, Rin confirmed that they had traveled a bit more than half of the distance. It's the reason they had been attacked so late at night, as the elves felt them on the wind. Having traveled for quite some time again, Mina finally felt some form of resistance on the wind. It seemed to push them back, keeping them from entering the deeper part of the forest.

"Lady Mina, this barrier blocks out those that don't hold elven blood. You don't really have any blood, so entering should be quite different for you."

Mina looked down at her wrist, a silly smirk popping on her face. With a quick snap of her wrist, she slammed the bracers into the wind barrier. Though it didn't collapse, a small hope was made. It was big enough for a person to duck under, but was quickly regenerating. Mina repeated her actions enough to allow everyone to enter, though Rin stared with heavy concern.

"For magic deflection to just... break a chunk of the barrier. That just doesn't seem right."

Mina could only shrug, after all she only knew so much about this world's magic. The bracers were a fluke that she only desired to test really quick as she had the chance.

"Rin, how much further?"

"It'll probably be another hour or so. We can rest here for a bit, but be cautious."

Her words were nearly refuted, but Mina noticed the group. The air inside seemed to be heavy, so they were struggling to breath and even move. Rin wanted them to try to get used to it before they attempted to go into Truvale.

"Lady Mina, does the wind pressure not affect you? Those unable to gain access to the winds protection are unable to resist."

Mina saw that her group was panting, most unable to even speak for the moment.

"I'm fine. This doesn't really seem to be able to bother me, but I can feel that the air is dense. I'm pretty sure that Melody would be fine in here though."

"Melody? How so? She's just a human."

"Well she has wind magic. I rarely see her even try to use her fire magic since I made her my slave."

Rin stared at her with wide eyes.

"Melody... she's a half breed?"

"Huh? What are you talking about? People can't use their restricted element?"

Rin looked up and nodded.

"Humans are bound to fire. Beings such as beasts, they hold a single element as well. Elves are bound to wind. Holding multiple elements is taxing on the core of your magic. They run wild and even have the chance of destroying your body. Half breeds are quickly snuffed out, mostly due to the world's unfamiliarity towards multiple elements."

"And light and dark?"

"Higher elements. You're still only born with one, though the two of them are rare in the end. Your existence is just odd in and of itself. You're stronger, almost a transcendent being, while Melody is but a mortal woman. To be honest, she's probably a half-elf. In my time with her, I've seen her ears. Maybe a charm hides them, or she was born without the short pointed ears. I know not, though I'm impressed that she is still alive having lived with humans for so long."

Mina leaned against a tree, calmly thinking of what a half breed would entail.

"Well, looks like we can ask her later. Honestly, she may not even know. Being unfamiliar with this world, I obviously wouldn't have known."

Rin nodded, her ears suddenly perking up.

"It seems we have a guest, though they aren't an elf. I'm quite confused. Pride of an elf wouldn't allow another being to enter their restricted forest."

A sudden voice came from behind Rin.

"Right you are, beautiful elf girl. I'm just passing through, though I don't mind playing with you. Consider it a thanks for dealing with Vex!"

Mina instantly dashed forward, grabbed Rin's arm and moved her away from the voice. They laughed softly, though didn't seem concerned by Mina's actions.

"You know, Vex had hoped I could find the Dark Font. I never cared for it, but seeing as its owner is here... should I play with you for a bit? I think it would be a blast! Hehe... although maybe I should have some fun first?"

Soft panting and sexually charged moans suddenly came from behind Mina. She turned, her eyes growing wide as she saw her comrades with bright red faces and their bodies hunched over as if to resist what was happening.

"Hmm. I can't seem to trigger your lust. Even the pretty elf can't resist the desire to plunge her fingers within herself. Not fully, anyways."

'Mina... Rin looks like she's in pain. Can we do anything?'

'Rin and the others are sexually aroused. We either knock them out, or make them feel better. Right now, both choices could be dangerous. We don't know how many enemies there are, then this weirdo is hidden from sight.'

"Hey, hey! You're gonna leave them all to be taken by force? The elves aren't able to hold back much longer!"

Mina suddenly emitted a heavy burst of energy.

"Oh. Wrath and Greed! To think they would work so well in conjunction."

Surrounding the girls with a spiralling barrier made of every element, Mina's eyes began to blaze red as her hair turned dark with red on the end.

"A transformation. Most of us have one as well, but it's not so... easy to start up."

'Dammit. How do I deal with this situation!?'
