I mean, I'd imagine that too much of the good life, like anything else, would get boring and monotonous after a while. So, a little bit of real danger would be just what is needed to spice up his life and paint his boring Grey world red (literally in this case).
But not the whole mob thing, you can still live a really high profile life and live a totally second life about being in the shadows without anyone finding out. Trust me I would know as apart from just being a famous assassin I'm also a really high profile Movie Star and no one knows of my assassination jobs.

to be fair, if you research a bit about ancient Asian cultures, you'd find that men from powerful,rich, and/or influential families often had multiple wives as for why? There are many reasons actually in some cultures the size of one's harem and the beauty of its members was a kind of status symbol. In multiple cultures, it was also a way of securing multiple political and financial alliances with other families of status. Harem's aren't just about having multiple partners. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand the historical, political, or cultural significance of harems.

to be fair with how deep and justified the racism between most of the races of men, beastkin, and mer runs in the elder scrolls universe, I can't really fault him.
