Sinossi
A novel about cultivation that combines the power struggles of the sect, disputes in the fairy world, and counterattacks and growth.
The abandoned son of the sect, Gu An, was forced to marry into the family, but he used the wedding to expose the inheritance of the God.
He broke through step by step, and transformed from a puppet in the marriage to a behind-the-scenes God who subverted the fairy world.
----------------
Yeah, I am Gu An, from the story above.
Transmigrating into a world of cultivation, I find myself at the lowest rung of the sect's hierarchy. Everyone wants to bully me to gain some benefits. Fortunately, there are always a few junior brothers and sisters who are 'generous and understanding', allowing me to improve peacefully and secretly grow stronger. Years later, unbeknownst to anyone, I successfully become a deity within the sect. This day, my master visits me at the sect's request.
'The upper echelons of the sect believe you have been diligent and loyal over the years, and though your strength is mediocre, you are an honest person, so they've found a marriage alliance for you.'
'An alliance marriage?'
'Not exactly. The other family has a rule: marrying into their family means taking their surname.'
Is this... becoming a son-in-law who marries into the wife's family?
Looking at the long sword before my neck, it was obvious that they didn't give me too many substantial opportunities to choose.
What should I do?

Scrivi una recensioneRead to chapter 35. Good read so far. MC got lumberjack cheat. The world hasnt been established yet. We only know the MC is in a sect that has a lot of trees. The translations are ok with a few pronoun errors every few chapters cough cough chapter 7. Maybe because I am currently reading Cultivate in Secret Beside A Demoness (CISBAD), I see a few similar elements eventhough they differ a lot. So if you like CISBAD I think you would like this as well.
Never expected my first review on this site to be a on a cultivation novel but here we are. This novel is one of the few cultivation novels that don't get boring and repetitive very quickly. The MC has a cheat that lets him increase his cultivation and learn skills from chopping down trees (or logging as it's called in the novel). The better the quality of tree he logs the quicker his cultivation increases. The world building is decent but what I really liked is that the MC isn't OP immediately, but he is always able to defeat the people with the same cultivation realm as him. The novel spends a lot of time with the MC in each cultivation level exploring the nuances of the cultivators lifestyle at each realm. Most novels gloss over the first 3 or 4 realms and the MC immediately becomes a powerhouse, but here i am 200 chapters in and still haven't seen the sect master. Some people might prefer a novel where the MC gets strong immediately but this is good too. The characters of course don't have much depth as in all Chinese novels, but the relationships between characters are more complex than the stereotypical novels with young masters and stuff. There is a small amount of depth to the MC (he is still an emotionless chinese mc but better than most). Also there are quite a few side arcs that i'm invested in. There MC has a junior sister called zheng lan and she has some family problems. He also has a junior brother called Yu Tu whos constantly being schemed against by his childhood crush. Ngl im more invested in Yu Tu's story than I am in the main storyline lmao. In summary its definitely one of the better cultivation novels out there in terms of plot, but the grammar and stuff could still use work
Mostra SpoilerI'm at chapter 34, and so far, this story is top-notch👌. I recommend at least reading the free chapters.
translation quality is good. The story is kinda meh. some things are realistic, some things absurd. characters are not completely one dimensional, but most of them are selfish af. update stability is good The world background is not yet developed (47 chapters).
Ch224(203) Marriage gets first mentioned. Story is a one point worse copy of „Cultivating in secret beside a demoness“. Pacing is good with no boring or too long sections. AI translated. Review as of Ch226.
Story is very good. I liked the plot development in the story And Slow pacing that MC didn't go op powerhouse straight away and author is also show the MC whole character development of each realm nice 👍😊
This novel has some mistakes but it is skippable, and the only thing I dislike is the cheat the MC has, apparently he needs to chop wood to accumulate points like that's a shit cheat lol. I'd rate this novel 6.5/10. its pretty slow and chill not exciting. good for wasting time.
this was my favorite book on the app, but then it apparently got dropped? I'm so upset because the author was finally starting to hit his stride. I hope they can find a way to get him to come back!
At chapter 665 and dropping now. The reason: MC is dull and gets schemed against constantly, there has never been a point in the novel where there has not been a bunch of people scheming to kill the mc. He tries to stay lowkey but gets caught up in everything bad and troublesome constantly like he has been cursed or something. It is really annoying to read.
After reading about 80 chapters , I have to say that I am quite disappointed about the mc's killing spree. He kills very uselessly and ruthlessly for the smallest of reasons(like feng mei) . Plus after killing all those sect disciples he somehow by a small bribe is not implicated showing the sect's weak laws. Another issue is how he successfully hides his cultivation every time, like as this is a decent sect shouldn't there be elders of at least someone like managers being able to discern him and implicate him,but there is no one and he hides his real level for basically the entire time in these chapters and kill ruthlessly for the slightest of reasons. And though I am not sure who is the female lead yet only seeing Chu Meng close to him and the only other main female being the "despicable women" , I think at least after these many chapters some romance should develop. But overall a good and descriptive story and i love the logging idea.
It's very frustrating to follow the MC. He is very impulsive and hot-tempered. Every person in the novel seems unreasonable to the extreme. I wonder how one can actually improve their cultivation in such a terrible environment.
This is a really good story for those that like these types of stories. This MC is “kill first, ask questions never” until he inadvertently lands in some kind of bigger plot. Which is why I stayed with this book for so long. A lot of the “humor” is drawn from everyone manipulating him and him stumbling into worse and worse situations as others profit more and more. He gets manipulated by everyone. From the sect to his “superior” to the hidden “superior” to even the secret organization he is with. He also finds or gets entangled with worse and worse cursed items. Plus he looks like a skeleton with skin and super old all the time. I need my MC to be able to break out of constant manipulation by at least the 700th chapter. However, this MC is still going forced along with all the manipulation with no way out. The final strike for me in the story is that he’s a “eq moron” that doesn’t have any drive for women and of course the “main manipulation” is getting married to someone he doesn’t even know.
After reading over 400 chapters, I’m just frustrated. Although the MC rises to a decent position, he still hides his cultivation realm for no clear reason. If his goal was to remain low-key, then why not actually lay low? Instead, he creates major incidents and kills people without hesitation which completely contradicts the idea of staying under the radar. Even after 400+ chapters, there's very little world building. We only know about his sect and a few others. Most characters constantly mock and underestimate him because of his old appearance and seemingly low cultivation level something that could easily be avoided if he just revealed his true strength. His excuse is always that he cultivated too fast, but that could easily be avoided with something like I was hiding my realm. Despite being powerful, he often has to act submissive and get treated like a weakling. I don't usually mind lowkey MCs, but this novel is just a frustrating read. I stayed patient and pushed through to chapter 400, but now I’m really starting to lose interest. The plot feels repetitive: The MC levels up => Someone tries to kill him =>He finds out a day before thanks to his cheat =>He ambushes them => Then the sect sends him on a mission with people who look down on him => He kills them and comes back… rinse and repeat.
The translation almost feels like MTL. And the translator is breaking a single chapter from the original novel into two here. It feels like he is trying to drag this out.
Very promising at the start thought the MC had some sense, but the author keeps stretching the plot point, and tbh after ch 120 it's just the same thing repeating. MC is truly a looser.
Title of the story didn't do any justice. This story has lot to offer but title narrow it down to little.
Doesn’t seem to be remotely close to the description
