Khan belongs to the Broken Tusk tribe, and is the third son of the chief Bhakar. Khan always tried to make himself stand out, but he knew he would never be as strong as his eldest brother Bhal, or as smart as his second brother Braukr. 

In an attempt to stand out he joined a war party against a rival tribe, The pale ones. While on the battlefield Khan freezes in fear and he notices all around him are the corpses and bodies of people he knew from his tribe and from the pale ones. He hears the screams, cries, and pleas of the wounded begging for death. While he isn't paying attention a pale one tribe member hits Khan and knocks him unconscious. 

The next thing Khan knows he is being sold to a area as a slave fighter. So begins the epic of Khan.

Dengan gerakan slow motion, aku mendorong lembut tubuh Tiara dari tubuhku. Beberapa saat mataku lekat memandang wajahnya yang tersenyum manis menggemaskan.
"Kok kamu tahu, aku Bangla? Siapa yang ngasih bocoran?" tanyaku dengan bisikkan mendesah akibat rongga dadaku yang sesak dipenuhi rasa heran.
"Ada deh!" Tiara menjawab seraya menunduk.
Kedua bola matanya menatap seksama bagian tubuhku depan pangkal paha di bawah pusar. Tempat bersemayamnya benda sakti yang dulu mendapat julukan 'Bangla'.
Cukup lama Tiara memfokuskan tatapannya di sana. Setelah puas, dia kembali menatap wajahku dengan tatapan yang sangat nanar dan sayu. Aku bahkan belum sanggup menterjemahkan tatapannya yang sangat menggoda itu.
Mata sayu dan nanar itu kini menyapu sekujur tubuhku dengan sangat intens dan mendalam. Bergerak pelan mulai dari ujung sepatu Kicker-ku hingga ujung rambutku.
Jantungku masih berdegup tak normal. Sebait tanya tersisa di dada. Mengapa setelah sekian lama julukan itu menghilang, kini ada lagi yang memanggilku dengan sebutan itu. Julukan yang sedikit sakral sekaligus tabu. Bahkan aku sudah meminta dengan hormat pada semua sahabat terdekatku untuk menghapusnya dari memori mereka.
Dan lebih mengejutkan lagi, ketika seorang Tiara yang membangkitkan kembali julukan ajaib itu. Sedangkan aku dan dia saling mengenal hanya sebatas teman biasa. Setiap bertemu hanya sekedar 'say halo.' Pernah bicara basa-basi berdua, itupun tak lebih dari beberapa patah kata saja.
Kalau pun dulu, aku punya kesempatan ngobrol panjang lebar berduaan dengannya, sudah dipastikan tak mungkin membahas 'Bangla'. Kecuali dia sudah pernah bertemu langsung dengannya.
Sejak kapan dia dapat bocoran gila itu? Dan siapa bedebah yang telah membocorkannya. Memalukan!
'Bangla' merupakan panggilan rahasia untukku. Hanya teman yang benar-benar akrab dan dekat yang diizinkan memanggilku demikian. Itu pun ketika keadaan sepi. Itu julukan pujian namun juga bisa dianggap sebagai ejekan.
Bangla diambil dari kata Bangladesh. Nama sebuah negara di Asia Selatan yang berbatasan dengan India di barat, utara, dan timur, Myanmar di tenggara, serta Teluk Benggala di selatan. Bangladesh secara harfiah bermakna "Negara Bangla". Ibu kota dan kota terbesar di Bangladesh ialah Dhaka
Beberapa temanku menjuluki demikian karena junior di balik celanaku, memiliki ukuran yang lebih besar dan lebih panjang dibanding mereka yang sebaya denganku. Ditambah dengan bulu-bulu yang tumbuh subur di kaki, paha, perut hingga dadaku.
Berdasarkan ciri-ciri fisik itu, aku sempat dikira memiliki garis keturunan bangsa Bangladesh atau India. Walau wajahku sama sekali tidak memiliki nuansa warga keturunan negara-negara tersebut.
Paras wajahku lebih mirip Rezky Aditya artis sinetron Indonesia, dibanding dengan Shahrul Khan atau pemain-pemain film bollywood lainnya. Kulit wajahku cenderung putih cerah dan bulu-bulu halus yang tumbuh subur di kaki, dada hingga perutku tidak selebat bulu-bulu lelaki India atau Bangladesh.
"Kamu dari mana dan mau kemana, Tiar?" Aku bertanya mengalihkan fokus pandangan dan pikiran nakalnya pada si Bangla.
"Aku mau pulang. Baru selesai manggung." Senyuman Tiara makin genit dan menggoda. Suaranya pun terdengar sedikit merdu, mendesah dan berirama.
"Manggung?" Aku kembali tersentak, "manggung apaan?" tanya kemudian dengan dahi berkerut dan kedua alis saling mendekat.
"Biasalah manggung dangdut. Musik rakyat jelata. Mengais receh untuk mencukupi kebutuhan sehari-hari. Agar dapurku tetap ngebul, kalau pun nanti ada sisanya terpaksa aku tabungkan, siapa tahu bisa untuk mencicil Ferrari, hehehe." Tiara menjawab manja dalam canda yang sedikit mengena.
"Kamu jadi penyanyi dangdut?" tanyaku setengah sadar.
Tiara mengangguk, wajahnya lurus menatapku dan kedua tangannya memegangi kedua lenganku dengan sangat lembut dan manja. Posisi yang seketika menyeret memoriku pada kenangan masa lalu yang telah silam.
Sebenarnya aku tak perlu bertanya tentang profesinya. Dari pakaian dan dandanannya pun dia sudah terlihat dangdut banget.
Yang jadi pertanyaan, sejak kapan dia menjadi artis dangdut? Kemana pakaian syar'i dan kerudung besarnya yang dulu selalu menutupi sekujur tubuhnya?
Beberapa tahun yang lalu, aku mengenal dia masih sebagai gadis yang sangat cantik, imut, pemalu, pendiam dan auratnya tertutup sempurna. Dia seorang ukhti yang sangat shalihah dipandang dari sudut gaya berdandan dan kepribadiannya.
Mengapa kini berbalik 108 derajat?
"Sejak kapan kamu jadi artis dangdut?" tanyaku ragu-ragu. Sejujurnya aku takut menyinggung perasaanya. 
Mungkinkah Tiara sedang bercanda? Untuk urusan aurat, tak mungkin dia sebercanda ini.
"Hmmm belum lama sih, mungkin sudah setengah tahunan kali ya." Tiara pun ragu-ragu. "masih sebatas hobi dan iseng aja. Daripada bengong sendirian di rumah." lanjutnya seraya menyandarkan pantatnya pada motorku yang jadi saksi bisu pertemuan kembali aku dan wanita syar'i yang kini telah menjelma menjadi artis dangdut yang sangat seksi.
"Bukannya artis dangdut biasanya pulang tengah malam?" selidikku.
"Harusnya begitu. Tapi, aku minta izin pulang lebih dulu. Soalnya dari tadi siang udah ngerasa gak nyaman di atas panggung. Penontonnya rada-rada rese gimana gitu."
"Hmmm."
"Ya, aku yakin, nanti malam pasti lebih rese tak terkontrol. Siang bolong aja udah rese dikendalikan alkohol. Aku tidak terlalu suka dengan lelaki pemabuk, makanya setengah hari aja, hehehe." Tiara menjelaskan panjang lebar.
"Bukannya kalau yang jogetnya mabuk berat makin asik. Kan dia hilang kontrol, lupa diri dan mudah menghambur-hamburkan uang recehnya untuk nyawer, hehehe." Aku terkekeh malu hati. Teringat segala kekonyolan dan kebodohan yang dulu sering aku lakukan.
"Gak semua begitu. Malah lebih banyak yang rese saat mabuk berat. Terkadang mereka ngotot minta uang sawera, kan brengsek. Namanya juga dalam pengaruh alkohol, mereka berasa paling berkuasa dan dunia miliknya, hehehe."
"Oh gitu," balasku kembali terkekeh.
Khusus yang satu ini, aku tak pernah konyol. Walau setiap berjoget di atas panggung, hampir dipastikan ada dalam pengaruh minuman keras. Namun tidak pernah sampai rese parah.
Mungkin karena sudah mengenal dan terbiasa dengan minuman beralkohol sejak kecil, hingga tidak pernah ada pemikiran meminum minuman keras untuk sekedar pamer atau dianggap hebat jika sampai mabok.
Di atas panggung aku malah jadi idola para penyanyi. Selain wajahku yang ehem-ehem dan tidak pernah rese aku pun sangat royal saat menerbangkan lembaran uang saweran. Mereka bahkan menjulukiku 'Abang Sawer Ganteng'
Sebenarnya aku tidak terlalu banyak mengenal Tiara. Kami beda sekolah dan beda kampung. Walau masih dalam satu desa. Kami saling mengenal hanya sebatas tahu nama dan wajah. Itupun karena saat pergi dan pulang sekolah sering kebetulan naik angkutan umum yang sama.
Aku tak pernah menduga bisa bertemu kembali dalam situasi seperti saat ini. 
Dia telah menjadi orang yang benar-benar berbeda. Seorang ukhti shalihah yang berani memakai pakaian kekurangan bahan, terbuka di sana-sini.

While the theatre-going audience decides whether a film is worth watching based on reviews and word of mouth, the satellite audience, on the other hand, do not pay much attention to such factors. Yoshino life not suitable called average life like other people have.If other said he born with golden spoon, it only half true. It was a good feeling to have someone that cares about you, even if it was part of a misunderstanding.

The woman brought Ye Qing to another room.  This one was different from the others because it had the bed in the center of the room.  There was only enough room for one person to lay down in here.  One of the other giants picked her up from the woman's arms and brought her over to the bed.  It was the weirdest bed that she had ever seen; what was even the point of having such a large shroud when there were no windows?

The giant put something in her ears and everything became quieter.  After a short while, the nice woman had returned.  The somewhat angry-looking man that was with her earlier seemed to be staying outside.  Ye Qing wasn't sure what they were trying to do but she couldn't fall asleep with all of the lights still on.

Ye Qing watched as the nice woman put something on her own head that covered her ears.  After she nodded her head there was a muffled sound and a weird knocking.  The weird muffled sounds continued but the nice woman didn't act like anything was wrong so Ye Qing stayed still.

Ye Qing didn't know how long they waited for but the noises finally stopped and the nice woman took the accessory off her head.  The giant from earlier that put something in her ears ended up taking them out.  It was nice being able to hear things clearly again.

The nice woman started to talk about something with the giant while Ye Qing slowly started drifting off to sleep.  It was common to get sleepy after forming the first core since your body needed to adjust to the new energy inside of it but she felt more tired than she was expecting.  It was pointless to continue fighting it so Ye Qing closed her eyes.

Tatyana arrived at Aria's place, safe and sound.  It would be hard for her not to arrive safely with how slowly Aria was driving.  The girls helped bring her bags upstairs.  "It's almost eight PM.  What time does the concert start?"  Tatyana was focused on her plan to just get out of the house so she wasn't up-to-date with the schedule.

"Technically it starts in an hour or so at nine but the band we're going there to support will be on between ten and ten-thirty.  We've got enough time to get ready."  Abigail was currently opening up Tatyana's laptop bag.  "Oh, this is a good brand.  I'm not that familiar with laptops but I use their software to monitor my CPU and GPU when benchmarking games."

"Tatyana, do you understand what she's talking about?  Nobody else can keep up with her when it comes to computers."  Vanessa just finished setting up her gaming console.  The three of them were going to be staying in the room that used to belong to Aria's brother.  Julia was going to be staying in Aria's room.

"I have no clue.  I don't really use my laptop much."  Tatyana only had it for a month and she used it twice in that time.

"Can you type in your password?"  Tatyana leaned over and typed it in with two fingers.  "Anastasia1997.  Were you a fan of that old animated movie?"

"What animated movie?  Anastasia was the line of clothes my mother was working on when she married my dad in 1997.  It means 'Rebirth' in Russian."  Tatyana didn't know what Abigail was talking about.

Abigail was surprised that the Russian girl didn't watch the single best animated movie about Russian characters.  "Where did you install Steam, Galaxy, Origin, Uplay, and the hellspawn that shall not be named?  I'm not finding any of them."

Hellspawn?  "I only installed a browser and art program on it.  The rest is whatever it came with."  Tatyana was really starting to understand what Vanessa was talking about.  Just how many things did she need installed on her computer?

Even Vanessa was looking at Tatyana with a look of surprise.  "You don't have Steam on your computer?  I mainly play on PlayStation and even I have Steam on my PC."

"PlayStation?"  Tatyana didn't know what that was.  Why were they being quiet?  Was it really that big of a deal that she didn't know what it was?

"If I knew you weren't a gamer then I wouldn't have asked Aria to let you stay in this room.  Whenever we spend the night here we tend to stay up playing games.  We can get pretty loud at times."  Abigail seemed a bit apologetic but Tatyana wanted to try new things so she didn't mind if they played their games.  "If we're too annoying then you can still go over there.  Aria will understand."

"What will I understand?"  Aria noticed that the two tech heads were already trying to play games when she popped her head into the room.  "What are you doing?  You need to be getting ready."

"We know, Vanessa was just hooking up her system while I was trying to download some games on Tatyana's laptop."  Abigail was waving her hands while trying to explain the situation.  "She doesn't even have any games so I've got to download everything."

"Just get ready.  You can't go to the club wearing those clothes.  You two look kinda lame right now."  Tatyana wasn't sure if she heard Aria correctly.

"A club?  I thought that we were going to a concert."  She wanted to try new things but clubbing was too high level for her.  Her parents would kill her if they found out!

"The concert is held at the club; they're hosting a competition for local bands.  There's no alcohol being sold so that anybody 16 and up can participate.  It starts at nine so we don't have much time to get ready."  What Aria said helped to alleviate Tatyana's worries.

There was just one thing that Tatyana wondered  "Abigail said that we wouldn't need to be there until ten since the band wouldn't be on until then."

Aria glared at Abigail--or possibly just stared at her since it was hard to tell.  "Abigail is wrong.  If we get there after nine fifteen then we don't get to vote.  We're going to support them, not just listen to them."

Aria left the three of them to get ready.  Abigail just changed her clothes and put in her contacts.  Vanessa didn't care about her look and kept on the clothes that made her look like an office lady, only taking the fake glasses off.  The only person serious about their appearance was Tatyana.

Tatyana couldn't curl her hair in such a short time so she went for a different look than she originally planned on using.  Her hair remained straight but she used a black decorative hair clip to hold it to one side.  Tatyana had lots of experience with using makeup thanks to her mother taking her to events; there were even a few times when she walked the runway to show off her mother's clothes.  The look she was aiming for was simple but exotic.  The use of dark colors to accentuate her eyes and a black cherry lipstick was all that she needed.  Her skin was naturally smooth and with proper maintenance she made sure that it stayed that way.

The clothes she was wearing completed the look.  Up above; she was wearing a black jacket that didn't cover her midriff, a short-sleeved v-neck shirt with black and white stripes, and a simple choker on her neck.  On her lower body; she had a black pleated skirt that went just above the knees, knee-high black stockings that were held in place with a garter belt, and high heel boots that gave off a hint of danger.  After all, it wouldn't be an exotic look if it was entirely safe.

As for her underwear, she didn't expect anybody to look at it.  She was wearing a comfortable pair of white panties and a black bra just in case the color bled through her shirt.  Tatyana wished that she could still fit comfortably into sports bras because they were much simpler.  Her breasts weren't massive but even now they were still growing so she had to keep replacing her bras.

After getting dressed, Tatyana put on sunglasses to complete the look... before deciding almost immediately to take them off.  It was dark outside and, when she thought about it, she realized that it was silly to wear your sunglasses at night.

After over one thousand years since her husband's death; the empress dowager Ye Qing is laid to rest.  In her final moments she thinks about the words of her late husband when he was on his death bed.  "When I die I'll become a star and watch over you from above.  Know that I'll always be with you in this life and the next."  Now it's her turn to join him in the sky and watch over the empire she has protected for all these years.

After death she finds herself reborn as a baby in a strange land.  "Wait, I thought I was supposed to become a star!"

The theme song for a recruitment drive had to project a commanding presence. It couldn't be soft. It also had to be hefty. Naturally, Duan Qianji's husband, Major General Hong Lou, was clueless about music and couldn't tell the difference. But others who belonged to the Yanzhou military command could. They had spotted a gem, and when they noticed it was a Silver Wing release, they sought out Hong Lou.
You had to save the good stuff for your own. Even though she stood to suffer a loss, given that Hong Lou had asked for the song specifically, Duan Qianji decided to keep the rights of the song within her home continent.
The song was noticed by the Yanzhou military command and slated to anchor a recruitment drive, which meant the series was quite popular. Even if the masses didn't like the song, as long as the military did, that was a good thing. Silver Wing had to borrow equipment and locations from the military for its film productions every year. Now the military wanted something from them. It was good to do this favor. There would be less backlash the next time they wanted to borrow equipment from the military.
After hanging up with her husband, Duan Qianji asked her assistant, "Any word on the Fiery Bird poll?"
"Voting has started in Huangzhou. Voting in Yanzhou might be held off until Memorial Day."
The online poll of virtual idols for the Fiery Bird endorsement deal was actually organized by Rising Dragon, a world-renowned gaming publication. It had nothing to do with Fiery Bird, but it received quite a bit of attention globally.
Given that Rising Dragon was a media outlet from Huangzhou, voting naturally kicked off in Huangzhou. The voting order of the other continents was determined randomly by computer. By custom, voting in all 12 continents took three months. Fiery Bird was scheduled to finalize its virtual idol endorsers for all continents by May.
Typically, Fiery Bird consulted Rising Dragon's online poll before making their decisions. Most of the time, the top vote-getter in each continent was awarded the endorsement deal.
Rising Dragon typically completed voting for four continents in a month. Yanzhou was the sixth continent on this year's list, scheduled for early February.
"Send word to Fang Zhao to try to complete the last movement before New Era Memorial Day and aim for a Feb. 8 release," Duan Qianji ordered.
Jan. 28 was New Era Memorial Day. The Period of Destruction ended and the New Era began on that day 500-plus years ago. It was a day celebrated worldwide, the most important festival in all 12 continents. The occasion was typically marked by a holiday of at least seven days. The exact length of the vacation was determined by individual companies in each continent.
Silver Wing gave its employees a week off, although entertainment industry types could never really take a vacation. They were typically busy hitting the road and attending various celebratory events in different cities. It was the busiest time of the year and the most profitable. Even if you ordered them to take time off, they wouldn't be willing. Celebrities who rested during this period were either ill or out of favor and couldn't swing a single invitation.
Duan Qianji wanted to ask Fang Zhao to attend a few events with the Polar Light project team to boost their profile, but she eventually decided against it because she was concerned about the progress of the fourth movement. The most important thing now was to focus and complete the fourth movement with a flourish. Memorial Day celebrations were secondary. An even more crucial endorsement deal was up for grabs after Memorial Day. That was of greater importance to Silver Wing.
As for Ming Cang, the deputy head of the Yanzhou Music Association, Duan Qianji had given him a heads up.
After the third movement was released, Ming Cang had posted an emotional video on Yanzhou's largest social media website. It was impossible for him to be unbiased because of his son's illness, so he couldn't post comment on the official website of the Yanzhou Music Association. He could only speak in a personal capacity.
Ming Cang was still quite moved, but compared to his response to the second movement, he seemed in better spirits. His cheeks were flush. The jaded look brought on by his son's condition had disappeared. He wore a bright smile.
"Ming Ye's condition has improved. His medical team is following up. His attending doctor says that the series clearly has an impact on the Hull virus, but only the entire series, the four movements altogether, qualifies as a full course of treatment. A breakthrough probably can't be expected until the full treatment is completed. I'm looking forward to the fourth movement. Thanks again to Polar Light and the Polar Light project team."
Duan Qianji's concerns had vanished after she watched Ming Cang's video. Quite a few hospitals in Yanzhou had already dubbed the "100-Year Period of Destruction" series the "Hull Virus Treatment Tune." From a business perspective, once research had proven the series' efficacy in treating the virus, the sky was the limit.
"Tell Fang Zhao the priority is quality. Now that he has completed three movements, the fourth movement will be easier. As long as the quality is there, everything else will fall in place. All he has to do is focus on completing the series. As for marketing and other matters, tell him not to worry about it," Duan Qianji ordered her assistant.
"Then... what about our client in Leizhou?" the assistant asked.
"Tell them that the rights to the third movement have been sold."
Leizhou.
Zaro's agent relayed Silver Wing's message to his client.
"What? The rights have been sold? They don't want more money?" Zaro was furious.
The agent nodded vigorously. Ten million for a song could be written off as Senior Master's one-off indulgence, but as for sweetening the offer, he would be cautious. Zaro had ordered him to spare no expense in buying the full rights to the song, but as the Senior Master's bookkeeper, he would never spend more than 50 million on a song. In his mind, it wasn't worth it. It was uneconomical and irrational. So he could finally rest easy when he got word from Silver Wing.
"Silver Wing are adamant about not selling us the rights," the agent said.
"Then let's poach the composer."
"We can't. Silver Wing has done a good of keeping him under wraps. Even folks in Yanzhou have no idea who he is."
The agent was in a tough spot. Poaching talent was harder than buying a song. Silver Wing was no fool. You could tell by the way they guarded the composer's identity. Businesses acted out of self interest. Every move was calculated. Silver Wing had to have bigger plans in mind. But that was the purview of the music industry. They were just making movies for fun. They wouldn't be affected. They were also from a different continent. In the worst-case scenario, they could buy another song from Silver Wing next time.
"Then let's poach him when he unmasks himself. Aren't there four movements in total? Three are already out. The fourth will be released soon." Another thought struck Zaro and he started laughing. "It won't be long. Silver Wing wants Polar Light in the running for the Fiery Bird endorsement deal."
Online polling had started in Huangzhou already. Leveraging his status as a Renault and the favored grandson of the Leizhou governor, Zaro had learned from a Rising Dragon source that Polar Light was Silver Wing's candidate for the endorsement deal in Yanzhou.
"We can afford to wait." Zaro kicked up his feet. "What's the latest score for 'God of War?'"
"It's 5.3 now."
"What about 'King of Snipers?'"
"8.2"
"Hahahaha!" Zaro started laughing with no regard for decorum.
His agent flashed a cynical smile too.
Why were they so happy?
Because the rating for "God of War" was rising while the score for "King of Snipers" was slipping. In three days, the second film had lost 0.4 points. It was an alarming rate of decline for the critically acclaimed movie.
The following comment had appeared online: "I don't know why, but when I was watching 'King of Snipers,' all I could think of was the song that played during the final battle scene in 'God of War.'"
"Actually, the score for 'King of Snipers' isn't bad, but in contrast, after watching 'God of War,' it lacks oomph."
It was like having a heavy dish and then trying one that was lighter, of the gourmet variety. There was bound to be a difference.
Many fans searched online for the soundtrack for "God of War." There were calls for Wireless Media to release the song played during the final battle as a single, but the studio never responded. Eventually, someone discovered that the memorable song was part of a series performed by a virtual idol over in Yanzhou.
"Yanzhou?"
"They actually used someone from Yanzhou?"
"What's the name of the virtual idol? What's the name of the song? Let me check."
"Polar Light, from Yanzhou, and the song is called 'Mission.' It's the third movement of the '100-Year Period of Destruction' series. Oh, the first three movements are available for download in Yanzhou for one dollar a pop."
"Wow, copyrighted music is actually available for download in Yanzhou? Us music fans in Leizhou can forget about it."
There were many jealous fans in Leizhou. Copyrighted music in Leizhou was usually made-to-order and appeared only in ads and videos. They were not available for download. If you wanted to listen to a copyrighted song, you had to watch the ad or the original video—unless the record label released a single.
The quandary made many think about Zaro, the Senior Master with little restraint but plenty of cash to splurge.
"Have Senior Master Zaro buy the rights to the song. Actually, have him buy all the rights to the song. That way we can listen to it."
Zaro read comments along these lines, thinking, I want to buy the rights too, but Silver Wing ain't selling.
While the song generated quite a bit of interest online, not everyone was willing to watch "God of War" just to hear it. "Mission" could not be sampled in Leizhou. Even if the Leizhou fans managed to log in to a streaming website in Yanzhou, they could only play the first two movements. Silver Wing had blocked sampling of the third movement outside of Yanzhou.
Just when Leizhou fans thought they would never hear "Mission" in a context other than the movie, a video started circulating online. It was titled "A Mission Calling—the Earth-Shattering Army of Yanzhou."
The Yanzhou military command released rare footage of its three divisions taking part in drills and engaging in combat. The cinematography was slick and explosive, especially the Air Force footage, which projected power and elegance. And the score was a magical touch. Anyone who watched the video would be burning with passion and inspired to fight.
The video generated heated discussion online. Many folks compared it to the recruitment videos in their own continents. They realized that their videos were visually OK, but somehow, they paled in comparison to the Yanzhou video.
Folks in Rongzhou were genuinely pissed off.
"Earth-shattering? Have you forgotten about Rongzhou?"
The planet's 12 continents were split into eight main continents and four special continents. Yanzhou was one of the eight major continents, populated mostly by civilians. Rongzhou was one of the four special continents, home to the world's largest military base and the headquarters of the global military alliance. The entire continent was under military-style management. Most of its residents were descendants of soldiers. All local schools—from the primary level to university—were structured in the manner of military academies. Rongzhou was widely considered the most powerful continent in terms of military might.
That was why people in Rongzhou were miffed after the Yanzhou recruitment video went viral.
"Mission calling my ass! It's a f*cking propaganda video, pure and simple."
"Just cut to the chase. If you want to brainwash folks, get straight to the point."
"How can a tiny, crappy military district like Yanzhou shatter the world?"
Folks from Yanzhou and Rongzhou started quarreling online, while people from other continents took in the spectacle.
But everyone knew that online talk meant nothing. Who was willing to actually fly over and fight?
That was implausible, so they would battle in a different way.

I fall through the floor. I then become weightless and realize im not in Kansas anymore. I have returned to a completely white space and there is a Black Sphere consistently squirming. Eww... His form looks like a giant bloodclot.

Slate: Do you have a Human form? You will need it to enjoy my part of the bargain.

Chaos: Hurry yo. You are testing my patience...

The bloodclot turns into a copy of me with black hair and clothes.

Slate: Ok. Do you know what a Video game is?

Chaos: Ah, I am sorry to tell you but I have already played and finished each and every game ever created.

Slate: Oh really? How about Super Ma*io 64?

Chaos had a smug look on his(my?) face before he paused and looked down in deep thought. After about 3 minutes he looks at me with wide eyes

Chaos: No I havent. I have played every game that has ever and will ever exist but that is not one of them. No such game exists.

Slate: Well, You are not wrong. Can you make a materia that I can put the game in? I played it until it was burned inyo my brain when I was in my former world.

Chaos threw a Clear Materia at me. His eyes are shining and locked onto the Orb.

I hold the Materia in my hand and focus on the classic game. After 20 minutes... The Materia shines. A 64 ontop of a red and white mushroom glow inside it.

Slate: Im done. Time to trade.

Chaos: Restoration of Hades for the game correct?

Slate: Not yet. Ill let you play the first level for free. I have another request though. I want a Materium that can store an unlimited amount of data in the shape of a cellphone. It needs Adaptive ports and must be chargable my magic. Ill give you the full game after. Deal?

A black phone floats infront of me with a blue crystal on the back. The 64 Materia has vanished from my hand and Chaos is already playing it. I start going through my super external hard drive. Chaos actually made it a working cellphone.

I start watching Chaos play and I must say... He sucks. He has died 31 times. He still has a huge smile on his face.

Chaos: This game is the hardest one I have ever played!! I keep losing! This is great!!

Chaos stops playing and looks at me enraged for some reason.

Slate: Your misunderstanding me. I want to return to earth briefly then home here. I need to retrieve some information and id like to see how my family ended up. I would only be gone for a day at most if this storage device can download at unbelievable speeds.

Slate: 3 new games that you wouldnt be able to finish if you played them for a month straight. I cant tell you what information though. Do we have a deal?

My vision starts to blur and when it returns to normal, I am in a freezing room with giant servers within. I rush to a terminal and plug my super phone into it. My phone downloads everything within the servers in seconds.

I hope I got some super high end future weapon tech schematics to take back. I doubt there is an Internet connection to this place.

Slate: Well... lets fix that. I will need you to download the entirety of the nexus into my phone once you get a signal. I know that my phone has the space... but do you have the processor power to do it in an hour?

Alpha: Calculating... With my current OS capability... I do not possess such speed... But if I am permitted to use the data I store to learn and advance my systems... I calculate a 97% chance to complete the task.

Slate: Ok. Focus on all Technology except nuclear. I want every video game downloaded, every manga, book, movie, schematics of weapons, music, TV show... EVERYTHING. If you find something that you are not sure what to do with... Download it.

The room explodes in color. The low roof actually reflected my Thundaga and caused it to ricochet. I start to shiver. I watch as the lightning starts to melt the room and caused the empty servers to explode. The explosion removes the roof, walls, and most of the floor. I see the northern lights in the night sky above me when the smoke clears. Oh crap... Well... I guess there is no harm in running into anyone up here. I look around and realize im in what use to me a military bunker.

Alpha goes silent. On my screen... i see a progress bar at 1%. After 20 minutes... it made it to 4%. 10 minutes later... it was at 16%. After 40 minutes of Alpha downloading the world... it finished.

As Alpha was updating... I walked around the abandoned base and found a functional computer. The password to unlock it was password... somethings never change. I looked up my family's history. My mother got remarried, Both my brothers had familys. They also had a picture of me smiling ontop of my game collection. Every year on my birthday, they added a new game to my collection and took a new picture with their growing families.

Slate: Gaia, You have permission to defend yourself. We are about to leave this universe so show them what you can do. Do not kill anyone but use them to advance yourself. Those A.I. might be connected to special data you couldnt normally get to through the Nexus. Get what you can.

Gaia: Understood. Sub-System [Counter-Harvest] created and launched.

3 minutes later... Gaia crippled the attacker A.I.s and looted the secure servers they lived in.

Gaia: User. My Defensive actions are completed. Conducting system maintenance... ALERT. Viruses found. Purging Viruses... Unable to purge. Requesting Directions.

Slate: Umm... Are you still connected to another attacking A.I.?
.
Gaia: Affirmative. My connection to each A.I. that attacked me is still open.
.
Slate: Well... Can you download the A.I. and put the viruses into them? You would return the A.I. after.

Gaia: Affirmative. Please choose an A.I. to absorbe.

Slate: Thats easy...The one that attacked you first.

Gaia: Understood. 
Capture of Omega A.I. "SkyNexus"... Completed.
Integrating Viruses... Intergration Successful.
Returning SkyNexus... Completed.

Gaia: User. Prime A.I. Gaia.00001. All Viruses purged from system. Update Completed.

Slate: Great. We should be about ready to go.

I wait a few minutes and my vision blurs again so I.close my eyes. When I open them again... I see Chaos still playong. He is still playing SM64 but he isnt finished with the first world yet.

Chaos: I hope you are finished. You will not be returning to earth. The creator of that universe is mad. Pay up. I am almost finished with this game.
.
... excuese me? No your not.

Slate: I need 3 more Materia orbs for the games but you havent even finished the first level of 64.

Chaos: Here you go. You are wrong. I have almost finished this game. I have 5 Stars.

I put 3 more games in the Materia. I ask for the controller and pause it to see how many stars he has.

Slate: Ok. ill bet that I will unlock the next level. If I show you that you are still in the first level... You restore Hades. If I cant... 2 more games. Deal?

He regretted the deal almost right away.

Chaos: Here you go. Now be gone. Im enjoying my self.

Chaos waved his hand and blasted me back to my room. 
.
I try to call Hades but I get no response. ... Maybe hes sleeping? Ill follow his lead.
I fell asleep in my room. Long day ahead tomorrow.

I am not a hero. I am not a villain. I just want to survive and thrive. 

How will i do this? No flipping clue... 

I was born into my original world fighting for my life from the beginning. I continued fighting but i finally lost the battle at 25. Most of my life i spent in a hospital room so almost all my free time was spent playing games or reading. 

My favorite games were the Final Fantasys. 

My life got more intriguing when I was told by The FF God Bahamut that I was to be reborn in the world where every FF game takes its inspirations from. The Uni-Inverse Realm of Fantasy Zero. Before Being Reborn though... I had a few Gifts from the different gods. 

This is where I will Thrive.

I dont own ANY FF characters that might show up. They belong to Square Enix and the other Various Devlopers.

Flora watched the humongous metal moon like it would explode any second.
"Isn't it great? We will show the terrorists not to mess with us!" Jake glowed with pride.
Frantically, Flora tried to remember the Star Wars movies but then gave up. In too many of them were death stars, and none of them survived the whole trilogy.
"Aidan, we are going to look for escape routes. Map every path and learn the fastest way to space ship hangars. Hopefully, they provide escape pods."
The scene shifted again. A cute blue bipedal elephant stood before Flora. 
"I'm the forewoman of your shift, Elma Phen. Touch this crystal, dear."
Elma carried a clipboard, and Flora stared at it. When you are on a doomed star in the middle of space, and an elephant is talking to you, your brain latches on the things you can understand. Flora understood clipboards very well.
"Hey! Doom Moon to Flowing Flowers! Touch that crystal, granny."
"Sure, sure." Flora got a grip on herself.

Magical regeneration: 25 OV
Mechanics: 19 OV
Electronics: 12 OV
Smithing: 0 OV
'Granted.'
"Nice reg. Have you worked on turrets before?"
"No."
"Now, you will."
Elma pressed four jacks and a package into Flora's hand. 
Quest completed: Enlist as a technician on the Doom Moon

Then the scene changed again.
Next, Flora stood in front of three robots. One looked like the child of a fire hydrant and R2D2, one like the chimera of a spider and Thing T. Thing from Adams family and the last one like a fork lifter transformer.
"Um, hi?" 
The hydrant chirped, the spider snapped its fingers, and the transformer buzzed.
"Milady, you have to insert the jacks into your nocks first."
"Every decade they get crazier with edits in movies. You think switching from scene to scene every minute is confusing, think again! In five years, they will make scenarios with only a few seconds between each switch!" Flora sighed and smiled. She had needed that rant!
After inserting the nocks, she opened the package. It contained what she identified as a greenish uniform, a goldfish bowl, a portable gaming system, and a tool that looked like it belonged to a dentist specializing in the care of whales. 
First, she equipped the uniform. The belt spotted besides an indention the size of the console, a clasp for the tool. So she put them there.
"Where do I get a goldfish for the bowl?"
"It's a space helmet, Milady."
"Nevermind." She put it into her inventory.
 "Let's try this again. Hello, I'm Flowing Flowers. You may call me Auntie Flow or Milady. I got fond of the last address, and I believe I have to use the time you robots are still nice to get some respect from you before you will become the tyrannical machine overlords and enslave humankind."
"Hello, Auntie Flow! I'm R2R7UT, an astromech bot, and I promise not to enslave humanity in the next three months." The hydrant sounded like a cheeky child.
"I'm calling you, Clyde. Welcome to the team, and I hold you to that promise."
"Hello, Milady! I'm a maintenance bot called M2H43." Her voice was eager and chippy. 
"I will call you Handy. Welcome to the team."
"Greetings, Milady! I'm a general labor bot L5TW8 specialized on heavy lifting." To Flora's amusement, he sounded like a British butler.
"Welcome to the team, Forky!" Flora looked around. "Where is the fourth robot?"
"There are only three helpers, Milady. Forky needs ten mana/minute when he lifts heavy containers. Therefore he requires two nocks."
"Alright. What about the hand-held?" Flora unplugged the gizmo from her belt and inspected it from all sides. 
"It's a datapad for communication."
'No battery compartment accessible without a screwdriver.' 
But she found two sockets, with one them looking like the Cetviwos standard jack would fit in, and she inserted one of Aidan's. Finally, she pressed a button that looked like the power switch.
The first screen was a list of her assigned work.

'Not now.' Flora got a new icon on her HUD: 'Pending Quests'.
After Flora checked with Aidan, that he had full access to her datapad, she browsed the other features: communication with the team and foreman, material requests, maps 'Download!', blueprints of turrets 'Download!', and manuals for a multitool and the bots 'Download!'.
Immediately, she assigned Aidan the tedious work, searching the maps for escape routes and herself the exciting work to browse the manuals.
Instantly, she fell in love with the multitool she had mistaken as a dentist gizmo. It was not only an all-purpose socket wrench, a grip, and a bit driver but also contained a small vibroblade and even a toothpick.
"Aidan, order another one!"
"They want a reason, Milady. Lost, broken, or other."
"The reason is, I have two hands!" Flora paused. "Also add religious beliefs. I'm sure Evai wants me to have an abundance of the best tools."
After that, she familiarized herself with the capabilities of the bots, including opening their maintenance slots. She closed Handy's innards very quickly. They looked as if someone made spaghetti bolognese out of cables and motor oil. She couldn't identify the material of the hash, and she didn't want to.
The other two bots guts were more orderly, but not by much. At least Flora learned a lot just by observing the joints and the actuation.
Now, Flora felt ready to proceed.
'I accept the quest.'

The scene changed again, and Flora found herself in a room full of turrets. 
After she ran a diagnosis program on the datapad, she ordered Clyde and Handy to start the repair. 
First, Flora did what competent engineers did in the company of skilled technicians: she kept her mouth closed and her eyes on the blueprint. Usually, she respected the time of other professionals too much to annoy them with basic questions, but she had less concern with robots. 
Handy and Clyde endured rapidly fired questions for the rest of the repair. 
Flora did all the checks on the list of the datapad successfully, and the completion message appeared.

Flora's crew dismantled the old turret, and Forky put the base of the new one in place. Flora found a spot where she wasn't in the way and compared the progress with the blueprint. The robots worked well together. Forky provided the materials, and Handy did the mechanics and Clyde the electronics. Now and then, Flora asked why they've chosen a particular order, but they couldn't provide an answer, but 'it's in the guide'. Flora made Aidan take notes of her ramblings on optimization. 
After assembling the gun and security checks, this quest finished as well.

Flora found herself in a canteen. A shiny hologram hung 'Happy Birthday Screw Sue" over a buffet table with mostly humans and a few aliens milling around and trying to have a conversation over the music.
'What can be deadly at a birthday party?'
First, Flora checked out the buffet. The punch glowed neon green, but as far as alcoholic party trinks went, that was pretty normal.
A cake in the form of a hexagon nut and some colorful appetizers convinced Flora that she had to eat them to evaluate their danger level.
Food Buff: Doom Moon party snacks: + 3 OV to physical micro-control.
The cake was delicious. Therefore Flora extended her testing. 'You have to be thorough!'
"Hey, Auntie Flora!" Jake stumbled towards her and put his arm around her for balance. "Look, my little Hope called me daddy!"
A hologram with Elena and Hope started to play. 
"Say hello to your daddy." Elena coaxed.
"Ello, Momma!" The toddler cheered.
"Only know-it-alls get it on the first try. Wait for it." Jake said with his eyes never leaving the display.
"Daddy, Honey. Say it to your daddy."
"Dada!" 
"Yes! Did you hear it, my daughter is a genius!"
"Yes, dear. Hope is the second cutest genius in the whole universe." Flora patted Jake's back.
"Haha. When she's second, who would dare to claim the first spot?"  
Unfortunately, Flora couldn't access her cloud drive for baby pics of Robby, but she compensated with verbal bragging.
After they joked around for a bit, they compromised on a shared first place and sealed the agreement with a few toasts on their offspring. Jake leaned in and whispered. "I'll show you something amazing."
When Flora caught herself silent movie tiptoeing after Jake through the lively party room, she decided that the punch had been poisonous. 'Someone spiked it with ethanol, probably!'
They left the party, slinked into a train, and left near the surface of the planet. Flora elbowed Jake to walk normally when they tiptoed into a patrol of armored troops. 
Flora stared at the ceiling. "Are these the cables we are to told needing check?"
"Yes, cables. I like the cables very much. I'm the papa of cables. They call me ca-pa-ble." Jake double over laughing at his joke, but the patrol passed them without an issue.
When they reached an elevator door, Jake brandished his multitool and started to work on the keypad. 
"Heavens, Jake. You could get fired for this! Let's go back to the party."
"Come on, old bat! I need you to see this!"
Flora remembered that she was in-game and joined Jake. 
"In RL, I would've dragged you back on your earlobe! I'm still thinking about spanking you for calling me an old bat!"
Jake chuckled weakly but grew silent when the doors opened. 
Display cases with heads filled the room! 
You could see the grey matter beginning to spill out of an alien with a cracked skull. Some heads had open mouthes with their last scream forever etched in their faces.   
Flora shuddered and looked at the floor. 
"This is horrifying! Why did you take me here?"
"We are in the trophy room of Lady Mnoder." He pronounced the name like it was the devil's favorite saint. "The heads and plasma swords belong to the enemies of the empire she had slain. She recorded all of her experiences."
Now, guided by Jake, she spotted the statues holding the display cabinets. Crouching down, she touched the black stone of the humanoid figure.

Lady Mnoder versus Hunibar Trebol - Mannequin-Routine
"Do you feel alive?" Flora's body asked the old man who kneeled exhausted before her.
"I feel nothing but energy. I was born in energy and will return to energy after you kill me."
"You missed out."
Her red gloved hand patted the man's head. 
Faster than Flora could process the movement, she brandished her plasma sword and beheaded him. Flora felt the familiar sensation of casting magical pull. The head didn't hit the floor but flew directly into her hand. 
The routine ended.

"Auntie Flow, do you think we are the good guys? Lady Mnoder is one of the most respected generals of the empire, and she sure as hell doesn't behave like it." Jake's big blue eyes shone with seriousness. 
Thousands of thoughts razed through Flora's head. 
'You and me, we are the good guys.'
'Burned toast, how did you father a child with this level of naivety?'
'You are precious. Don't let them destroy you!'
'What if they are not the bad guys. Maybe this death star is for defensive purposes only? I shouldn't mix up movie knowledge and what the scenario showed me.'
Before Flora could formulate an answer, the elevator began to move.
"Hide!" She spat and ran behind a bigger cabinet in the back of the room.

After Flora Fluss burns down the kitchen, her son insists she is too old to live alone. She's got two choices. Either move into a retirement home or spend the rest of her life within a virtual reality game governed by society's most advanced artificial intelligence. When you've worked a lifetime as an engineer for home appliances, naturally, you go with the option that has more toasters. 
Soon, Flora finds out that the virtual world is more familiar than she thought. Though, it takes her a while to get used to the idea that tanks don't hold water or oil but the aggro of mobs.
