Alice approached the Phoenix for the paper. Alice takes the paper while petting Phoenix's head and opens it. "It's a letter from Roy. Let's see...," Alice read the letter. "Hello, Alice. It's me, Roy Kivan. I found an old book in my basement while I was cleaning the room. I don't remember having this book and I can't read the language so I sent it to you. Maybe you can understand the language written in this book. From: Roy," Alice read the message. "A book? Hmm...," Alice looked away from the letter and turns her sight on the bag. "The book is in this bag?" Alice wondered. Alice opens the bag and pulls out a book inside it. "What a dusty book. Roy forgot to clean it before sending it to me. Phoosh!" Alice blew the dust from the book. Alice opens the book and she was surprised upon reading the writing format. "What kind of format is this? This is not an ordinary format for a story book. It's the format of manuscript! I don't believe it!" Alice's eyes widened. Alice read the manuscript that Roy gave her while leaving her spell book opened. "Huh...The tale of Vathek...What kind of name is that? This book said that this character named Vathek was born during the reformation of religion. Wait, what? What a strange tale," Alice exclaimed. Vine opens Alice's tent after he heard her shouting and enters the tent. "What are you doing, Alice? Your shouting tone can be heard from the outside," Vine asked. "Roy gave this manuscript to me. He said he found it while cleaning. I wonder if it belongs to the previous owner of the house. This book mentions someone named "Vathek" and I had no idea who that was. You may read it if you want," Alice wondered. Vine takes the manuscript and read it. "This manuscript is written in Arabic and I can't understand the language. Wait, you don't think that...this manuscript isn't from this world?" Vine asked in wonder. Alice looks bewildered and says," Maybe the timeline of this manuscript is from other era. Wait, I have an idea. Let's go back to the time of that manuscript". Alice turns her spell book's pages and found a spell that will help them understanding the language of the manuscript. "We're going to the past. This is going to be a scary strange adventure. Are you ready?" Alice asked. "I'm ready to go on an adventure with you anytime," Vine said. "Let's do this," Alice turns the pages and stop at the time magic. "Here it is. Quantum Leap!" Alice casted the time magic. "Whoo!" Alice jumped into the manuscript with Vine. "Whaa! What is this? I'm floating!" Vine screamed. "Not floating. We're on the way to the manuscript's time. This is the gateway of time, think of it as the road to our time destination," Alice explained.

Several weeks after discovering the existence of siren behind the myth, Alice receives a letter from Phoenix under the care of Roy Kivan. Opening the letter, Roy told her of how he found a forgotten dusty old book in a basement written in a language that he couldn't understand and send the book in a bag brought by the Phoenix to her hoping that she could understand the language and its writing style. With curious intent, Alice took the book and open it. Shocked by the language and format that she has never seen before, she take a closer look at the title of the book spelled Vathek. Vathek is a novel written by William Beckford and the second gothic novel of the 18th century after Walpole's Castle of Otranto that mark the beginning of distinguishable classic gothic genre which became the inspiration of the present gothic story. 
This story was written under Alice's exploration along with Vine of what happened within the story as she tried to save Vathek from his envisioned path of damnation.

Yes, you heard correctly there will be a sequel. For what you thought was going to be just one book, is going to become a sequel. What are my intentions for the book? Well, that's of course, to take my risk. The book will stay in it's POV format, there will be new shocking reveals, new characters, new insights on our beloved characters we've come to love in book one, and new parts to see. And crazy thing is, I'm not going to release any details on further on the book. Not even the title ^^.
But what I will tell you is the year of release. I plan to release it in the year of 2022. I want people to have the chance to read the book in it's full state without pause and look forward to the sequel.

But don't worry, your girl is not sleeping on you, lol. Where there is a will there is a way. I wouldn't want you to not have anything to remain me by. So, I have already started on a book to release on- this date I will sure.

In a four-person dormitory room, four girls were sitting in front of a desk, each of them holding a book in their hands. 
Yet, one of the girls was sneakily playing on her phone instead of studying. Long Lu was the brave girl who dared to play with her phone in such a critical period right before an exam.
It was not like she didn't fear the exams but for her, there was something more important than exams. It was watching her favorite celebrity, the heavenly king.
Although she was wearing a pair of earphones, she was occasionally talking to herself, which was disturbing the other girls.
The girl sitting behind her reached over and lightly hit her head with a book.
"Ouch!! What are you doing? Can't you see I'm watching something?"
Long Lu cried in protest but the other girl refuted her in a fit of anger.
"Can't you see that we are studying for the test? We can't afford to fail it or there will be a makeup test. The professor was already angry with our previous test results."
"Yes, that old man is really scary."
Another girl said, flipping one of the pages of her text book.
"I don't care about that. Today, my favourite celebrity is being featured in the show 'A house date with Meng Meng'."

The other girls became excited when they heard that it was a show featuring a heavenly king.
All people have some little interest in a celebrity that has been titled as one of the heavenly kings of the Chinese entertainment industry. 
That's why, the other girls flocked around Long Lu and started watching the broadcast, forgetting that they have exams tomorrow.

-As expected of the house of a heavenly king.
-Is it just me or the show getting boring? For the past thirty minutes, we are only hearing praises of the heavenly king.

-We aren't slandering anybody.
"The comment's section is really heated!" 
Long Lu exclaimed as she read all the comments. She felt that some people were slandering the heavenly king but it was just because she was his fan.
"Well, I think that the show is getting boring."
One of the girls said while the one who had earlier hit Long Lu with a book chimed in.
"Yes, I watched earlier episodes of it and the show only works because of the host cute expressions."
"The format is something that will get boring for the viewers soon."
The third girl added.
The thoughts of the three girls were practically the same and Long Lu couldn't help but glare at them.
"You three can't see the male god sitting there. Isn't that enough for the show to be running?"
"Only you think like that."
"You are talking like that because he's your favorite celebrity. You should come out of your decision."
"I don't want to keep watching just to hear his praises. Look, the comment section is getting more violent."
One of the girls said as she pointed at the comments appearing on the screen. The other girls focused on the screen.
-I can't watch more.
-I thought it would be exciting since there's a heavenly king appearing but….
-All of you people should go to sleep if you think like that.
-Yes, don't watch the show.
-We are just writing down our thoughts. No need to get aggressive.
-Hey guys!! Change the channels and watch A celebrity daily life!! There's something unexpected going on in that show.
Even though the show was boring, it was still featuring the heavenly king. The number of fans of a heavenly king are a force to reckon with.
The people who were speaking negative about the show were soon kicked out but one of the comments interested the four girls.
"What type of show is A celebrity daily life?"
One of the girls who don't know about the show asked and Long Lu answered her.
"It's a show similar to A house date with Meng Meng."
One of the girls told her about the format of the show and how it was similar to A house date with Meng Meng.
"Aren't the two the same?"
"From what I know, Meng Meng's show is younger. It's the copy probably."
"They have just changed the format a little."
"Yes. Look, many people are recommending ``A celebrity daily life in the comments."
Long Lu pointed to the comments section and the other girls also stared at it.
-Recommending A celebrity daily life!!
-You will miss it if you keep watching this.
-I am going. You all should go too.
-Why are people recommending another show here? 
-I'm also thinking about that.

EIAV—Equine infectious anemia virus Equine Infectious Anemia Virus.

Equine infectious anemia virus (EIAV), the agent of equine infectious anemia, is a lentivirus that infects cells of the monocyte-macrophage system in horses (also ponies, donkeys, and mules). The virus is mechanically transmitted by biting flies, such as horseflies and deer flies. Less common routes of transmission include blood transfusions, contaminated medical equipment, and transplacentally. Disease may present in acute, subacute, and chronic forms and is potentially fatal. After an acute period of fever, depression, and thrombocytopenia that lasts 1 to 3 days, there is a prolonged period of recurrent fever, thrombocytopenia, and anemia. In most cases, clinical disease subsides within a year, and horses become lifelong carriers and reservoirs of EIAV.

EIAV causes anemia by both immune-mediated hemolysis and decreased erythropoiesis. Hemolysis is typically extravascular but may have an intravascular component during the acute phase. Decreased erythropoiesis may result from direct suppression of early-stage erythroid cells by the virus, as well as anemia of inflammation. Thrombocytopenia likely results from immune-mediated platelet destruction and suppressed platelet production.

Animals dying during hemolytic crises are pale with mucosal hemorrhages and dependent edema. The spleen and liver are enlarged, dark, and turgid, and they and other organs have superficial subcapsular hemorrhages. Petechiae are evident beneath the renal capsule and throughout the cortex and medulla. The bone marrow is dark red as a result of replacement of fat by hematopoietic tissue; the extent of replacement is an indication of the duration of the anemia.

The severity of microscopic lesions is dependent on the chronicity of the disease, and they are most significant in the spleen, liver, and bone marrow. As would be anticipated, microscopic findings of the spleen are predominantly influenced by the number and activity of macrophages, which is a reflection of the duration of the disease and the frequency of hemolytic episodes. Hemosiderin-laden macrophages persist for months to years; therefore large numbers are consistent with chronicity. Kupffer cell hyperplasia with hemosiderin stores and periportal infiltrates of lymphocytes are the most significant changes in the liver. Bone marrow histologic findings vary depending on the duration of the disease. In most animals the marrow is cellular because of the replacement of fat by intense, orderly erythropoiesis. Granulocytes are relatively less numerous, and plasma cells are increased. As in the spleen, hemosiderin-laden macrophages are present in large numbers in chronic cases. Emaciated animals with chronic disease have serous atrophy of fat (see E-Fig. 13-1).

Clinical findings with viremic episodes include fever, depression, icterus, petechial hemorrhages, lymph node enlargement, and dependent edema. Equine infectious anemia infection is diagnosed on the basis of the Coggins test, an agarose gel immunodiffusion test for the presence of the antibody against the virus.

Name and History

Equine infectious anemia virus (EIAV), causing an episodic wasting disease in horses colloquially known as swamp fever, is classified as a member of the lentivirus group of retroviruses and is closely related to the primate immunodeficiency viruses including human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) [1]. The location of a retropepsin gene in the EIAV genome was first suggested based on sequence homology [2]. Protein sequencing of its naturally occurring Gag [3] and Pol [4] substrates identified several cleavage sites, and their comparison with those of HIV-1 showed limited conservation and substantial variation in amino acid residues at the scissile bond and the neighboring sequence [4]. Active retropepsin was found in isolated EIAV capsids capable of in situ processing of the nucleocapsid protein [5]. An oligopeptide substrate representing the cleavage site between the matrix and capsid proteins of HIV-1 was found to be a good substrate of EIAV retropepsin, and its P1′ pipecolic acid-substituted derivative specifically inhibited the enzyme [6]. Expression of a plasmid containing the EIAV gag gene followed by in-frame insertion of the putative retropepsin coding sequence resulted in processing of the Gag polyprotein while out-of-frame insertion yielded intact Gag proteins [7]. The EIAV retropepsin is commonly referred to as EIAV protease (or proteinase).

Equine infectious anemia virus (EIAV) is an equine-specific retrovirus (lentivirus) that causes equine infectious anemia in horses around the world. The virus persists in the white blood cells of infected horses for life. Transmission occurs by transfer of blood cells from an infected horse, for example via insertion and withdrawal of contaminated hypodermic needles. The primary pathology of the disease is the immune-mediated destruction of red blood cells.

Both agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) and ELISA technologies are being used to detect antibodies against p26 antigen, the major group-specific antigen found internally in the virus. For the ELISA format, both the p26 core and p45 envelope proteins may be represented within the test. The use of recombinant proteins makes these tests very specific for EIA, however, as the AGID is the prescribed test (World Organization for Animal Health), it is recommended that ELISA positives be retested by AGID. AGID and ELISA tests are available from IDEXX, Synbiotics, VMRD, and Centaur. The tests are formatted in either a competitive format (using anti-p26 as the solid phase) or in an antibody immunometric (sandwich) format (EIA antigens both coated on plates and conjugated to HRPO).

Frequency of use

Although the tests are used routinely in laboratories worldwide, sales to and use by laboratories is subject to satisfactory performance on periodic proficiency tests administered by local authorities.
