This is a Preview book, the original story is CODE BREAK novel.

"Let's hand her to the court and have the law judge her," Yun Xiangxiang answered thoughtfully. "How will she be punished for committing the crimes of kidnapping and human trafficking?"
Song Mian gazed at Yun Xiangxiang quietly for a while. "If you want to, I can have her stay there for life."
Yun Xiangxiang shook her head. "Don't let her escape what should be her punishment, but don't punish her for what she didn't do."
She wasn't someone who would do anything to destroy the people she hated, nor would she break her principles for someone unworthy.
Abiding by the law was her principle as a human; even when she almost blacked out from starvation in her past life, she had never stolen a single rice grain.
If she couldn't survive without breaking her code, then that meant she was useless. She wouldn't blame anyone for that.
Once someone broke their code once, there would be a second time and a third time… Eventually, there would be no end to it.
"Alright, I'll talk with Eric about your choice. I won't have the Cardicra Family lessen her punishment." Song Mian sighed.
Yun Xiangxiang asked softly when she heard his sigh, "Do you think I'm too kind?"

Yun Xiangxiang smiled and changed to a more comfortable position to lay in his embrace. "As long as you understand me."
She didn't suffer any real harm, so she could remain calm and make the best judgment.
A family like Cardicra was no longer just an enormous business empire. It contributed a significant chunk of production and development for the nation.
Would France allow it to die just like this? The answer was a resounding no, so Yun Xiangxiang didn't want to make this personal grudge into a national one.
Eric was a sensible person. If Yun Xiangxiang was harmed, Eric could tolerate Yun Xiangxiang's revenge, even if it was severe.
But now that she wasn't harmed, she didn't have to make a nemesis out of an existence that couldn't be destroyed.
If she let Faye taste her own medicine, or if she killed Faye, she would make an enemy out of the Cardicra Family.

Song Meng snorted before she turned around and left, leaving Li Xiangling and Yun Xiangxiang alone.
Li Xiangling put down her book. "You wouldn't have gone shopping if you were picking him up."
"I got into a little accident, but I'm fine." Yun Xiangxiang didn't tell Li Xiangling what happened, but she didn't want to lie either, so she could only make a vague statement.
Li Xiangling looked at her for a while. When she confirmed her friend was fine, she didn't pry further.
When Yun Xiangxiang came out from the bathroom and changed her clothes, she saw Ai Li and Song Qian sitting there. Yun Xiangxiang went to sit between them, "Nobody's blaming herself for what happened today. It's not that we let our guard down; it's that she had planned this for a while."
They couldn't expect anyone to conspire against her. Besides, Faye wasn't a stupid; the first two failures were due to her underestimating Yun Xiangxiang.

After they returned, Song Mian had someone keep an eye on Faye to make sure she wouldn't do anything before they left France.
Yun Xiangxiang wouldn't be this relaxed otherwise. Faye knew Song Mian had his men keep an eye on her, and she managed to make them show themselves without the men knowing.
She even managed to trick the men and found out Yun Xiangxiang's number. That was terrifying.
He Wei knocked on the door, and Yun Xiangxiang invited him in. "Okay, okay, let's talk about the effort Faye put in. I want to see if we let our guard down, or if this plan was too elaborate."
Yun Xiangxiang felt a need to make this clear, or else the three of them wouldn't stop blaming themselves.
She asked He Wei first, "Brother Wei, why did you spend so much time in S.Q?"
He Wei looked at Song Qian and Ai Li. "All of S.Q's promo pictures of you were slashed into ribbons. They were worried someone might be targeting you, so they called me over. We called the cops and arrested some suspects.
Yun Xiangxiang nodded. He Wei did what he was supposed to do. He had to interrogate these suspects to get rid of the potential danger.
He wouldn't have thought that this was just a distraction tactic since he knew Ai Li and Song Qian were here.
"Ai Li..." Yun Xiangxiang paused and then changed her target. "Qian…"
"My best friend..." Ai Li spoke before Yun Xiangxiang could skip past her. "She suddenly lost both of her arms."
When Ai Li saw her friend, incredulity welled up in her eyes. Someone who used to be so confident became a shadow of her former self. Ai Li desperately wanted to know what happened to her friend and were the others...
"I am to blame. I abandoned my duty during working hours for personal reasons." Ai Li felt guilty.
"You are a human, not a robot. If people like you retire from the organization, there's no way you can contact them anymore, right?" Yun Xiangxiang could understand how Ai Li felt.
If Ai Li could contact her friends, she would know what happened.
If she missed them this time, it would be nigh impossible to see her friends again in this sea of people.
"When I was training, my master did always say that I'm a failure." Ai Li was dejected.

Su Yang, on the other hand, felt extremely uncomfortable as if he was sitting on needles. He had a feeling that Chu Xia's sharp gaze was poking his back into a sieve.
He tried to reject Qu Xuan, but after two to three times, he felt defeated and sang with Qu Xiaomeng. After that, he realized that agreeing to sing was probably the worst choice he made throughout the night because Qu Xiaomeng could not sing at all!
Qu Xiaomeng was seriously out of tune. Her pitch went high and low like a rollercoaster, and Su Yang was lost as he searched for the correct tune during the 'rollercoaster ride'.
After the first song, even Qu Xuan was stunned. He did not expect his sister to be so terrible at singing.
However, Qu Xiaomeng had no idea about her voice, and the silly girl had the potential to be a microphone hog. She seemed to have glued her hands to the microphone after the first song and she continued singing happily.
Su Yang's birthday party suddenly became a stage for her solo performance.
The atmosphere was awkward when Su Yang sang a duet with Qu Xiaomeng, but when she started singing alone, things came back to life.
Chu Xia pouted in jealousy at first, but the more Qu Xiaomeng sang, the funnier it got, and she started to giggle before she burst out in laughter.
The girl was never a dull person. She was just jealous when other girls got close to Su Yang. After Qu Xiaomeng 'moved' her with her singing, she set herself free and joined her in the next song. 
Su Yang was left behind like unwanted baggage.
However, Chu Xia failed to carry Qu Xiaomeng and started to lose her tune in the song too. Despite the out-of-tune singing, the big-hearted girl sang on and got high together with Qu Xiaomeng.
On the other hand, Li Runze was sitting at the corner with a stiff expression. He crossed his arms and watched everyone sing.
Su Yang asked him what happened and he shook his head. "Nothing's wrong. I'm just thinking. It seems like having a birthday celebration is quite interesting."
Su Yang did not understand why Li Runze would sit there with a stiff look if he found the celebration interesting.
'Hmm, maybe this the difference between us and Mr. Smart Guy…No, Mr. Smart God!'
The five of them had fun at the karaoke until 9 p.m. before Su Yang suggested leaving early. The reason for his suggestion was that he was still thinking about the system's countdown timer.
Before everyone went home, they each gave him a birthday present.
Qu Xiaomeng gave Su Yang a super member promo code for Tencent Videos. She said the site had a complete selection of American drama series and he could go enjoy them since he liked them so much.
Chu Xia gave him a beautiful belt, but since he never really wore a formal suit, he might not have a chance to put it on.
Li Runze was an oddball. He gave Su Yang a book named 'Learning From Data'. According to Mr. Smart Guy, the book was an entry-level book for artificial intelligence. He could tell that Su Yang was interested in A.I. development, so he told Su Yang to read it if he had the time.
'Yeah…This book is what I lack in my rack and it can collect dust there.'
Out of the four, Qu Xuan was the most practical. He pulled Su Yang aside and took a small box out from his pocket. He said, "Since we are all guys, you must pay attention to safety measures when you have fun outside. Here's my little present."
Just when Su Yang thought that Qu Xuan was talking about something sexual, he opened the box and saw a…wristguard.
Even though his friends had given him some strange presents, Su Yang believed this was the happiest birthday in his life.
On the way back, Su Yang reminisced about what happened throughout the day and found it fulfilling. Without realizing it, he had already gotten himself a group of interesting friends with whom he could get along.
Maybe because the birthday celebration ended a little later than expected, before Su Yang got back home, a beep sounded in his head.
[Beep! Happy Birthday! Here is your birthday present!]
'Time's up? And I even get a present?'
Su Yang excitedly called up the system and a golden gift box was floating on the home page.
He looked around and realized that he was alone on the road. Maybe because of the holidays, everyone else had gone on a vacation.
He ducked into an alleyway. After he made sure he was away from the surveillance cameras, he gulped nervously and prayed hard before he tapped on the golden gift box.
When the box opened, golden light shone from within. It was so bright that it blinded Su Yang for a moment.
As Su Yang blocked the light with his hand, his heart was pounding excitedly.
'Gold color?! Is this some kind of Legendary item? It's some Legendary item, isn't it?! What else can the golden color be if not a Legendary item?!'
After the light faded, Su Yang checked the system. Similar to the item displayed in the system shop, a picture of a handful of soybeans appeared.
[Acquired birthday present: Soybeans +4. Accept? Yes/No.]
'+4?' Su Yang was shocked.
'Lady Luck must be on my side! I'm getting a +4 item?! Yes! YES! I'll accept it!'
Su Yang tapped [Yes] and a bag of soybeans appeared in his hand. He then checked the system for the description of the soybeans. 
After he went through the description, he was 'shooketh'.

With the mysterious point system in hand, Su Yang aimed to become rich and alter his fate. On his path towards success, he encountered many interesting matters and people, including famous actresses and business tycoons. Fueled by determination, Su Yang set his sight on adding points into all things to help him achieve his goal.

Alex and the President were sitting at the usual table, drinking juice and studying for their upcoming test.
"I still believe 80% to approve is a little bit too much, but I think I can get the very minimum correct and throw some at random here and there". Alex looked at his math homework, which he had done three times already. Eventually, he got some of them right.
"You get an extra negative point for every three wrong answers," said the President.
"No way! That means I need at least uh...some answers right, then leave the others blank?"
"Or you could trust your gut. It wouldn't hurt to answer some from the heart, without using your brain."
"That's like a 20% chance of getting it right!"
"25%. It's four answers per question."
"That's what I said." Alex looked at his worksheet, one with over 100 exercises to solve. "Could I really get some of them right just by guessing?"

The President closed his book and sighed. "Alex, my boy. It's not about guessing. It's about knowing. Not the actual methods of solving, not the facts, but knowing deep inside yourself the choice you're gonna make is gonna be the right one. One day, you will have to choose something really important, and it's gonna torment you for the rest of your life if do it wrong."
Alex could not see the President's eyes. It's like the animator didn't draw them to show his mental state or something. Wait, this is a book.
"Wonder what happened in his past. Sounds like a pretty tragic event." thought Alex, realizing there was so much he did not know about his clubmate.
Before he could ask about the details, the door slammed open.
"NO ONE EXPECTS THE LUNA INQUISITION!" I guess you already guess it was Luna who said this.
The President and Alex looked at Luna, who was holding a game case in her hands. Her face was incredibly full of determination. In her other hand, she held a bag full of drinks (for minors!) and snacks.
The President got up from his seat. His glasses shining mysteriously.
"Has the time come, Luna?"
"The time has come indeed, President."
"Let's begin, then." The President closed the curtains of the room and turned the TV on.
Alex, already getting used to this routine, didn't dare to ask.
"Commencing Protocol 5318008. State of Emergency Level: A+"
"President, should I get... 'that'?" asked Luna.
"Indeed. It has been prepared."
Luna grabbed a key from under her bra, while the president input a 12-numbers code into his phone. A door behind the TV opened up suddenly.
"Wait, since when do we have a door there?! Actually, did you just open that with a phone?!" Alex could not hold himself anymore. Maybe it was a good time to get up and leave.
"Silence, Alex. You will disturb his sleep!" Luna was shaking.
"Whose?!"
As the President and Luna walked near the mysterious door, Alex slowly walked back, avoiding eye contact as he put his hand on the knob. He was almost out.
"!!!!!"
The door wouldn't budge. Alex turned around, only to notice the door was now shut down with several, big chains all over it.
"When did you guys even do this?! The teachers will get mad at us!"
They were not listening. Luna was holding a golden box with two locks in her hands. She carefully put it on the table.
"Shall we, President?" She was sweating. Her hands and legs would not stop shaking.
"We shall, Luna."
They both used their keys at the same time and the box opened with a click.
A golden light shone on their faces.
"It's...like the stories said it was. Marvelous..."
The President shed a single tear. "Am I really allowed to be in the presence of it?"

Alex shouted at them. "Guys, seriously, I wanna go home before you do this weird Chtulu ritual. What are you even saving there? What's with all these chains? How many references did the author put in just this prologue? We have to study for the exams!"
"Alex you foooooooooooooooool!" shouted Luna as she teleported behind Alex, swept his feet, and finished him off with a straight punch. Or so she would, usually, but her fist stopped in front of his face. "No. Not today. Today you're one of us."
"Thank you. My last surgery wasn't covered by my insurance and I had to sell so-wait no, just stop punching me altogether!"
As Alex got up, he saw the President holding the golden, shiny item. It was...

...a console controller?
"Alex, my boy. Today you will have to choose your fate"

After explaining the situation, the trio sat in front of the TV, now showing the title screen of a videogame with two heroines and one pretty generic-looking guy in the middle, whose hair covered his eyes completely.
[A Story of You And Them] read the title card. The subtitle was three lines long, so Alex didn't bother reading it.
"So, if I got this right..." recounted Alex. "Today was the launch of a brand new game you guys have been waiting for for three years."
"Four years. There was a delay when the author found out gacha made more money," said Luna, logging into the same game she was referring to.
"Four years. And so, Luna skipped an entire day of school to get in line at the store to buy it."
"It was awful! I had to camp all night in front of it. Would've been easier if people told me the store opens at noon! Or if I had known there wasn't gonna be a line at all."
"You could've pre-ordered it and get it delivered at your house..."
"And miss all these store-exclusive goodies?! Nuh-uh, no way!" The goodies being a keychain of a small unidentified animal and a handkerchief with both heroines printed on it. "This will keep my glasses clean and sparkly!"
"You don't wear glasses."
"Well, maybe I should start wearing them!"
The President actually felt offended, but he didn't say anything.
"Anyway. This game is a pretty big deal for you guys, so you planned this meeting three years ago, bought a controller made of actual gold, installed a security system where a hidden door would open with a super long code on a phone, even tho President wasn't even studying here back then, and now, after all that effort..."
Alex looked at the screen, holding the golden controller. He sighed.
"You want ME to play it?"
Luna and the President nodded.
"You see, over the years they've released lots of promo materials and sneek peaks of the heroines and...I support Akai-chan," said Luna.
"Ha! Dumb Redfan. We all know the true and only choice here is Megumi!"
"What are you talking about, President?! Akai-chan is a mysterious beauty with a dark past that slowly but surely builds up friendship AND love with the protagonist! She's a looooooooot more interesting than your dumb generic dark-haired basic walking moral compass!"

President laughed and looked down on Luna. Literally. He just got up from his seat just to look down at her. "As expected of a plebeian Akaifan. Akai is just a random girl who doesn't actually know the protagonist. Midori, on the other hand! She is the protagonist's childhood friend, who after years of not talking to each other, wants to slowly but surely rebuild that relationship they lost! To ignite the candle of love they both once held! And we all know dark hair is the best, you dumb Akaifan! Why is she even called that, her hair is not red, it's pink!"
Alex sighed. "I can see why you guys want me to do this. Let's just get this over with, maybe we can go home in an hour or two."
Luna and the President looked at each other, confused. "Alex, my boy. Is this your first galge?"
"Hm? Ah, yes. They are like those click games my dad used to play, right?"
"Well...you're not wrong, but you're not right either..." Luna put her hand on Alex's shoulder. "Alex, I..."
"Please don't do that, I'll cry."
"Alex, my boy. You won't go home tonight. The game is pretty long, but trust me, you'll enjoy it."
"You mean I'll have to sleep here tonight?!"
Luna laughed. "Aren't you thankful it's Friday? You can also sleep here tomorrow if slow down our pace!"
"I don't want to sleep here for even a minute! Let me go home!"
Luna laughed once again. She slowly walked to Alex's side. "Alex..." she started, before her voice dropped a few tones. "This is your home now."
Alex could feel his blood run cold. He did not know why, but he knew. He knew that a single movement would cost him more than just his life and dignity.

He heard a click coming from his hands, holding the controller. He shook. He started sweating more intensely. His vision was blurry. What had happened? Something made a click. What did? I want to see. I don't want to see. Debating with himself in his head, his breathing getting more and more agitated, he looked down at his hands and them handcuffed to each other.
*click*
The light had been turned off. The President walked from the switch to Alex's other side and whispered to his ear.

"Soon you will realize there is no escape. Now press the goddamn X button."
