Continue to invest in the low- and mid-tier authors? 
Ma Yiqun felt confused and bewildered. 
To him, Zhongdian Chinese Network's low- and mid-tier writers were already enjoying more than enough benefits. In fact, they were getting comparable treatment to big sites like Infinite Chinese Network.
However, it would be extremely difficult for low- and mid-tier writers to increase the revenue that they generated for the website. 
That was because writing was a form of creative art—it was very subjective. 
Some authors could not produce explosive works despite having written for ten years. Other gods grasped the essence of online literature after casually writing a million words and began aiming for the top. 
Thus, everything was dependent on the individual. 
Even if they poured all their efforts into finding and nurturing novel gods—as long as the authors' foundations remained the same, finding a novel god would be as difficult as winning the lottery. 
What if they invested in people who were not cut out for online literature? 
On the other hand, poaching people from other websites would prove more reliable. 
Still, since Boss Pei had spoken, Ma Yiqun had no choice but to obey. "Alright, Boss Pei. I'll do just that."

Their main source of income was still subscription fees from readers. Those were only considered side benefits to the top-tier writers; they would not be a huge factor to consider when making decisions. 
Ma Yiqun thought about it. 
To low- and mid-tier writers, Zhongdian Chinese Network could offer the same benefits that Infinite Chinese Network offered such as full-time remuneration. What's more, Zhongdian Chinese Network's standards were slightly higher. 
If Zhongdian Chinese Network was to offer more benefits, it had to offer benefits that other websites for online literature could never bear to.
What's more, although the benefits would be available to low- and mid-tier writers, the latter would be the focus. 
That was because there were far too many low-tier writers, and it would be impossible to consider all of them. 
Low-tier writers could even include people who only registered as authors on a whim and wrote several thousand words. 
If the website offered benefits to such people, it would be as good as a charity organization. No matter how much revenue the website generated, it would never be enough to cover its expenses. After all, it would be a pure loss-incurring transaction. 
Thus, the focus was mid-tier writers. 
The fact that they could rise a tier above the low-tier writers meant that they had the drive and skills to continue writing. They were more reliable and less likely to give up on their readers and quit the website. As they accumulated more experience, and with a bit of luck, some of them could be nurtured into top-tier writers.
Thus, the funds had to be invested in them. 
Ma Yiqun fell into deep thought. 
"Apart from royalties, readers, and fame which Infinite Chinese Network could provide as well; what else would these mid-tier writers need? 
"It's… security. 
"A career development plan and guidance… 
"A few social connections… 
"And… a more regulated, healthy life. 
"That means that only a portion of the writers can obtain this security. They will be selected through a rigorous process." 
Thinking that he had found the right direction, Ma Yiqun began to write his plan. 
Boss Pei was right. There was no way that Zhongdian Chinese Network would be able to compete with Infinite Chinese Network in terms of money. Even if the former could poach several authors over, they would not be able to keep doing so in the long-term. 
That was because Infinite Chinese Network had a huge reader base, many authors, and a greater ability to generate revenue. 
Thus, no matter which angle one looked at the problem from, Infinite Chinese Network could offer a more promising future to mid-tier writers than Zhongdian Chinese Network could. 
To attract more mid-tier writers to the website, Zhongdian Chinese Network would have to play to its strengths. It could not only work on visible aspects like royalties, readers, and exposure. Instead, it had to work on the invisible aspects. 
Basic security in life was one example. 
Authors did not earn basic salaries; neither did they have insurance or funds. After all, every book that they published was fraught with risk. Mid-tier writers' income was not considered low, but it was definitely not enough to compensate them for the risks that they had to expose themselves to regularly.
They could buy their own insurance and funds, but they would also have to pay the company's portion of the premiums. That was akin to paying double. 
Another example was a career development plan and guidance. 
Most authors were given free-reign. There were many authors and a few editors. Many mid-tier writers spoke less than a couple of sentences to their editors each year. 
Of course, many responsible and hardworking editors would discuss the author's writings with them. However, since there were too many boats chasing too few fish, only a small portion of writers would enjoy such treatment.
Many other writers ended up forming writing groups where they would discuss their experiences and grow together.
That arrangement could be compared to creating 'senior-partner' groups in companies. One could say that there was practically no career development or guidance offered in the online literature industry; authors were responsible for their own growth. 
The last example was a healthy lifestyle. 
Writers of online literature were free to create their own schedules. A common trap that many of them fell into was having irregular lifestyles. 
Having irregular lifestyles could affect one's body in many ways. For example, one could develop neck or back problems, high blood pressure, obesity, and the like. There had even been news reports of sudden deaths.
After all, one needed disciple to maintain a healthy lifestyle. 
Each person had different levels of discipline. Another important factor was one's environment. 
While at home, most people would only think about resting and playing; productivity would often be low. However, productivity would increase in an office or school. That was the power of one's environment. 
It would be hard to tell how disciplined full-time writers—who constantly wrote new chapters—were in other aspects of their lives, but they obviously had a high level of discipline when it came to work. 
Thus, after much thought, Ma Yiqun finally made up his mind. 
Zhongdian Chinese Network would start a class! 
It would not be a philosophical-type class, but a practical class that would provide security, provide career development plans and guidance, and nurture healthy lifestyles for mid-tier writers!
This was Ma Yiqun's initial plan: writers would be allowed to register, and the website's editors would shortlist thirty suitable candidates from the group of mid-tier writers at Zhongdian Chinese Network.

Debbie blinked. "All in due time, Scarlet. For a first attempt, it was very good. I just needed something to be the gauge of your current abilities before we move on from there. From what I can see, you have a rather strong grasp of the English language. The grammar and structure are not worrying. You also have an intuitive sense of how to pace your stories with a very natural way of telling it. I was one of these ambitious writers, I was good, really good. It wasn't until later that I found out, nothing comes for free.

Every fairytale we read says work hard and you will achieve your dream. But we keep forgetting, that in fairytales we know who is evil and who is good but in reality, evil wears masks that are difficult to be uncovered. 

My first book was one of the best sellers in japan, but I was betrayed by my publisher and editor. My book was published under the name of one of Tokyo's top five writers.
it wasn't until later that I found out that most of his novels were stolen and I wasn't the only case.

 I got angry and tried to tell the public about what happened. I was mocked, ridiculed and made into a laughing stock.

But put yourself in their shoe as they say in England, who you will believe a young writer just celebrating that he can legally drink beer or the man that his autograph is considered a national treasure.
The publishing company sued me for falsely accusing them of stealing the book. So I had only one option which is to SHUT UP AND TAKE THEIR MONEY. The following days followed the same routine wake up eat ramen, drink till wasted and sleep hoping not to wake up again.

She had long black hair and wore a necklace that looked like a knot in the shape of a man and a pair of rainbow colored wing on her back that gave her an aura that I had never felt before, it made me want to kneel and worship her.

"you have to find the book of Ani and decipher what it says, if you don't …" suddenly the sand erupted and a giant snake rose up, it was so big that it look like it can reach the sky, when he moved the earth start to shake. It kept rising, opening his mouth and showing his large fangs, his long thin tongue playing around so hard that one whip with his tongue can split the earth in two halves, his eyes seemed like a gate of hell that you can't dare look at it.
It kept opening his mouth until it covered the whole sun then in one bite it swallowed it.

"Where did this mark come from?" I shouted. "That dream, it can't be real right?"

In the times where the tides are changing , where the gods are returning and the wars are close.

I , Matsuraki Ken shall prevent the war from starting , i will face the gods and prevent their beginings and endings.

I will find the book and collect the missing pieces and awaken the forgotten magic.

Gorky considered the main task of writers to help in the development of the new man in socialist society. Gorky's version of a heroic revolutionary is Pavel Vlasov from the novel The Mother, who displays selflessness and compassion for the working poor, as well as discipline and dedication. Gorky's works were significant for the development of literature in Russia and became influential in many parts of the world.[12]

Nikolay Ostrovsky's novel How the Steel Was Tempered has been among the most successful works of Russian literature, with tens of millions of copies printed in many languages around the world. In China, various versions of the book have sold more than 10 million copies.[13] In Russia, more than 35 million copies of the book are in circulation.[14] The book is a fictionalized autobiography of Ostrovsky's life, who had a difficult working-class childhood and became a Komsomol member in July 1919 and went to the front as a volunteer. The novel's protagonist, Pavel Korchagin, represented the "young hero" of Russian literature: he is dedicated to his political causes, which help him to overcome his tragedies. The novel has served as an inspiration to youths around the world and played a mobilizing role in Russia's Great Patriotic War.[15]

Alexander Fadeyev achieved noteworthy success in Russia, with tens of millions of copies of his books in circulation in Russia and around the world.[14] Many of Fadeyev's works have been staged and filmed and translated into many languages in Russia and around the world. Fadeyev served as a secretary of the Soviet Writers' Union and was the general secretary of the union's administrative board from 1946 to 1954. He was awarded two Orders of Lenin and various medals. His novel The Routdeals with the partisan struggle in Russia's Far East during the Russian Revolution and Civil War. Fadeyev described the theme of this novel as one of a revolution significantly transforming the masses. The novel's protagonist Levinson is a Bolshevik revolutionary who has a high level of political consciousness. The novel The Young Guard, which received the State Prize of the USSR in 1946, focuses on an underground Komsomol group in Krasnodon, Ukraine and their struggle against the fascist occupation.[16]

The first years of the Soviet regime were marked by the proliferation of avant-garde literature groups. One of the most important was the Oberiu movement that included the most famous Russian absurdist Daniil Kharms, Konstantin Vaginov, Alexander Vvedensky and Nikolay Zabolotsky. Other famous authors experimenting with language were novelists Yuri Olesha and Andrei Platonov and short story writers Isaak Babel and Mikhail Zoshchenko. The OPOJAZ group of literary critics, also known as Russian formalism, was created in close connection with Russian Futurism. Two of its members also produced influential literary works, namely Viktor Shklovsky, whose numerous books (e.g., Zoo, or Letters Not About Love, 1923) defy genre in that they present a novel mix of narration, autobiography, and aesthetic as well as social commentary, and Yury Tynyanov, who used his knowledge of Russia's literary history to produce a set of historical novels mainly set in the Pushkin era (e.g., Young Pushkin: A Novel).

Writers like those of the Serapion Brothers group, who insisted on the right of an author to write independently of political ideology, were forced by authorities to reject their views and accept socialist realist principles. Some 1930s writers, such as Mikhail Bulgakov, author of The Master and Margarita, and Nobel Prize–winning Boris Pasternakwith his novel Doctor Zhivago continued the classical tradition of Russian literature with little or no hope of being published. Their major works would not be published until the Khrushchev Thaw, and Pasternak was forced to refuse his Nobel prize.

Meanwhile, émigré writers, such as poets Vladislav Khodasevich, Georgy Ivanov and Vyacheslav Ivanov; novelists such as Mark Aldanov, Gaito Gazdanovand Vladimir Nabokov; and short story Nobel Prize winning writer Ivan Bunin, continued to write in exile.

The Khrushchev Thaw brought some fresh wind to literature. Poetry became a mass cultural phenomenon: Bella Akhmadulina, Robert Rozhdestvensky, Andrei Voznesensky, and Yevgeny Yevtushenko, read their poems in stadiums and attracted huge crowds.

Some writers dared to oppose Soviet ideology, like short story writer Varlam Shalamov and Nobel Prize-winning novelist Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, who wrote about life in the gulag camps, or Vasily Grossman, with his description of World War II events countering the Soviet official historiography. They were dubbed "dissidents" and could not publish their major works until the 1960s.

But the thaw did not last long. In the 1970s, some of the most prominent authors were not only banned from publishing but were also prosecuted for their anti-Soviet sentiments, or parasitism. Solzhenitsyn was expelled from the country. Others, such as Nobel Prize–winning poet Joseph Brodsky; novelists Vasily Aksyonov, Eduard Limonov, Sasha Sokolov and Vladimir Voinovich; and short story writer Sergei Dovlatov, had to emigrate to the West, while Oleg Grigoriev and Venedikt Yerofeyev "emigrated" to alcoholism. Their books were not published officially until perestroika, although fans continued to reprint them manually in a manner called "samizdat" (self-publishing).

(Day 1: Session 1)
Me: My first question is that what makes you want to write? Is it because it is a necessity, is it because of the money, is it because you're passionate about writing, or is it something entirely different? 
Him: Hmm…well, would you like the long answer or the short answer? 
Me: Whichever one you're comfortable with. 
Him: I'll give you the long one; so that, you know…you don't think that I'm lying. 
Me: Why would I think that you're lying? 
Him: Because that is what people usually tend to conclude, don't they? 
Me: How so? 
Him: Well, if you may, it's a stereotypical perspective etched within society. You look at a bunch of writers who have a few bestsellers up their sleeves and are leading a pretty successful and wealthy life, and you ask them if it's all for the money or because they actually like doing it. Now, whatever they may say or comment, the only thing that'll be fluttering in front of your eyes is their wealth and success; indefinitely blinding you to the truth underlying within the person's answer. Therefore, even if the person says that it's because they actually like doing it, that it's because they like writing, your brain – which is only focused on their success and wealth – tells you that they're probably lying and are trying to appear modest and professional in front of the world. Your brain tells you that 'of course it's for the money and the wealth. What else could it be for?' 
It's also because – I think – that society has developed a predisposition regarding successful and wealthy people, so that they tend to generalize or associate anyone with the same caliber into that similar category. 
Me: And you're saying that you surpass them all? That you don't belong to this stereotypical and generic category created by society? 
Him: 'Surpass', no. I'm not saying that I'm better than everyone else. But yes, I am saying that I do not belong to that category, regardless of whether society tends to put me there or not.
Me: That brings me back to my initial question: why do you write?
He took a long pause, looking around at his lavish library for a few seconds. His face gave nothing away but I was convinced that he already had the answer to my question – he was only trying to figure out whether I was worth being answered in the right way or not. 
Then, once I spotted a sense of sudden resolution take over his face, he adjusted himself on the chair so that he was more comfortable – resting his left leg on his right leg and taking a few quick sips of his coffee – and then spoke: 
Him: I remember the first book I ever read called Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher by Bruce Coville. It was the first time I was ever introduced to the 'power of words'. That was the first instance wherein I observed and realized the seductive, magnetic pull words could conjure on me. It was intoxicating. 
By the end of the first book I ever read in my life…I was already an addict. 
You see, the concept of addiction has always been very pure and realistic. It was only disregarded and approached negatively by people when it began to be associated with drugs and substance abuse. In my perspective, every artist is an addict. Not because they're a bunch of druggies who try to grab at inspiration which they presume they'll find entangled within white powder or lying at the end of a bottle. No. They're addicts because they're severely addicted to their art and creative process. They're ferociously attached to it and nothing can separate them from it.  
When I was ten years old I felt that addiction of words induced within me. I could feel it take over my mind and soul as quick as current flowing through your body. Soon enough, I knew that I wanted to feel like that all the time. So I read whatever I could get my hands on. Fiction, non-fiction, mystery, crime, whatever it was I just completely devoured it. 
And then one day I heard voices inside my head. 
Now this may seem very difficult to understand, but it is how it truly is – at least for me. There are these constant voices blabbering inside a writer's head and the only way to get rid of them is to transfer them onto a piece of paper. 
So that's what I did. 
And the voices inside my head kept on increasing and I kept on writing. And by the end of that day, I was addicted to writing. I didn't care if people read it or not, I didn't care if people liked it or not, to be honest I didn't care about anything. I was only aiming to satisfy this burning sensation ignited in me that kept on pushing me to write.   
That's how it started, I guess that's how it still is, and perhaps that's how it'll always be. My entire life has been driven by words and guided by these voices inside my head. When you think of it, it sounds like a sad and lonely life, but it really isn't. 
In some ways I count myself very lucky because at an early age I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to emulate what other writers did. You know, Hemingway, Eliot, Dickens, etc., all of these people were regarded as the 'fathers of writing' – people who paved the way for future writing and writers, who guided writers into becoming as good as them and who explained that writing was much more than just sitting on a chair and producing words on a piece of paper. It has meaning and depth.  
Ever since I was a child I knew, I knew that I wanted to create what they created. I wanted to articulate words in ways that would stun people and lead them from their tiresome and heavily routinized life into an exciting new experience. I wanted my words to melt and mix with reality in a way that no other writer had ever attempted to achieve. I wanted to be deemed as good as Eliot and Hemingway.  
Me: Do you think you've achieved that?
Him: No I haven't. I'm glad that I haven't, and soon enough I realized that I, infact, didn't even want to. 
You see, I realized around the age of sixteen that what made writing so fun and exciting was the sheer experience of sharing your thoughts – your most intimate and philosophical thoughts – with a piece of paper that you know wouldn't lash out at you or curse you or mock you or judge you. And perhaps that's why writing has always been an intimate and a very personal experience for me.     
I write when I'm happy, I write when I'm sad, I write when I'm bored, I write when I'm excited, I write all the time! There hasn't been a single day since I first became a writing addict that I didn't practice this art. So, to answer your question, yes, I write because it's a necessity – because writing for me is now like breathing… I can't survive without it. 
Me: And if you feel so strongly about something then you're obviously just as passionate about it, right? 
Him: Yes, you could say that. 
By the appalled look on my face he obviously knew that I was impressed. I had never met a person who thought so deeply and intimately about writing the way he did.
Me: While we're on the subject, tell me, did your parents approve of you pursuing this field of profession? 
I noticed a sense of uneasiness flash in his eyes and quickly take form through the facial expression overlapping his face. But he recovered from the shock fairly quickly. 
He wasn't comfortable showing his emotions in front of people. He tried regressing them for some reason. Perhaps he was more comfortable writing about them rather than discussing them with another human being. I made a mental note of this – it was something I would have to incorporate within my questions and try to unravel as we spoke.
Him: No, they did not. 
Me: Why not?
He portrayed no sort of reluctance now.
Him: My father was a businessman, my uncle was a businessman, and all of my brothers are businessmen. My family's foundation was based on business. That's all they knew, that's all they ever did, and that was all they ever wanted to do. They were all entrepreneurs. In their eyes, I was the ugly duckling of the family. 
Notice how every parent wants their child to grow up to be a doctor, or an engineer, or a business tycoon, but no parent desires for their children to grow up to become a person who isolates themselves from the rest of the world for years in order to produce a stack of papers which people may or may not read. 
No parent pushes their child to become an artist, or a writer, or a musician when they grow up because these professions aren't deemed as being as lucrative as the rest. According to the rest of the world, these jobs largely depend on luck rather than a person's capability and skills. 
Me: And what do you think? 
Him: I think that they're just like any other job. In any other job you need a little bit of luck, likewise, you need a little bit of luck here as well but it doesn't all revolve around that. Writing, painting, composing, all these are skills and crafts. You need to develop them in order to be the best. And that takes a lot of work. Infact, I would say that jobs which require a particular talent or set of skills are much harder than other uniformed jobs such as being a businessman or a doctor. Yes, it takes a lot of hard work to succeed in that field as well, but not as much as you would need to work in order to become a good writer or a musician.
Me: Why would you say that?
Him: Because writing isn't as easy and simple as subtraction and division. It doesn't have a particular formula which can be used to extrapolate results. It doesn't have a specific process whereby one can succeed if they adhere to that process. Writing is solely based on intuition, passion, an observant mind, the drive to make a difference, and to have enough courage to portray yourself in front of the entire world to be critiqued and judged. That is why some people give up on writing very early on in their life, seeing as it is not something they are brave enough to do, and others just simply never try it because they don't want to expose themselves or be judged and critiqued by others.  
Me: So you're trying to convey this idea that writing takes a lot of courage and persistence, and that not everyone can do it?
Him: Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying. 
Me: And your parents didn't see eye to eye with you on that? 
Him: No they did not. Like I said, they were all businessmen and expected me to join the same line of work. However, I just simply couldn't because I didn't have the mind for it and I knew that from a very young age. I wasn't cut out for business, it didn't excite me, it didn't fascinate me, and to be honest it rather bored me. But my parents weren't convinced. They couldn't fathom how I could possibly make a living through writing books and essays which may or may not be published. Even if they did get published they may or may not sell well. So you see, their problem wasn't with writing, it was with the dilemma that I wasn't opting for a more stable kind of lifestyle. And I guess that's the underscoring issue here. 
Although, I guess another reason could be that they just didn't understand me. 
Me: Didn't understand you? How so?
Him: Well, tell me, do your parents understand you? 
Me: With all due respect, we're not here to talk about me we're here to talk about you. 
Him: And with all due respect, but you just answered my question. So they don't understand you. And I don't blame you for that. I don't blame them either. You're a writer. Writers are never understood by their parents or the rest of the world. It's a simple fact of life.
Me: What are your reasons for thinking so?
He smiled that same playful smile where his eyes bulged out and his lips broadened to an extent that his cheeks curled up into wrinkles. Regardless of how it may sound, the smile was charming and intellectual; as if echoing with the statement: "I know you better than yourself".
Him: How do I put this subtly? Umm…well…writers are weird. They don't think like rational human beings. That's because they aren't really wired as normal and rationally thinking human beings. And it's funny, I figured this out at the age of twenty three through a series of conversations with a group of physicists and mathematicians; all of whom were people of great intellect and vast knowledge. This was when I was researching my third book, by the way. 
Me: You mean 'The Boy Who Talked Too Much'? 
Him: Yes, exactly.
So, back to what I was saying. Writers are weird, right? I would disagree with anyone and everyone who argued differently. This is because, like I mentioned, writers don't process stuff like normal people do, and I realized this through my conversations with people of different professions. In my opinion, normal people look at the world with their eyes closed. 
Now a little disclaimer, I don't want to come out strong here or in any way insinuate anything robust. I'm not looking to offend anyone, I'm merely speaking my mind and what I think is true. Is that ok? 
I nodded.
Him: Alright. Ok, so, normal people look at the world with their eyes closed. This is because they tend to disregard most of what they see. They look at the politics of the world and the unfairness implemented by the politicians, but instead of doing something about it they close their eyes, bow down their heads, and say to themselves: 'Why should I put my life and my job in jeopardy for people who I don't even know?'
Me: And writers don't do that? 
Him: No, they don't. Allow me to give you a few examples. Almost every activist, freedom fighter, or any person with the guts to stand up to society and its principles – whether male or female – was and is a writer. 
Exhibit 'A': Nelson Mandela. He fought against racial discrimination all his life. But he was first and foremost a writer. 
Exhibit 'B': George Orwell. He discussed highly political issues in almost all of his novels, one very prominent example being 'Animal Farm' and his most famous book '1984'. He was one of the most courageous writers I have ever had the pleasure to read who refused to part with his unfinished book while lying on his death bed.  
Exhibit 'C': Charles Dickens. He was and is one of the most influential Victorian writers in the world who discussed important themes such as education, human rights, child labor, politics, and so on in almost all of his books. His only aim in doing so was to make people realize the extent of their actions, its effect on society, and how what they were doing was wrong. Infact, that's what all these other writers were trying to do as well.   
The funny thing is that do you know why people still read Dickens and Orwell? Why they're regarded with such high prestige and stature? Because people know that they were right. They know that what they discussed and influenced through their work resonates throughout the ages – past, present, and future. 
The only reason that writers are associated with this stereotypical view of awkward human beings walking through life with craziness clinged into their heads is because writers have the courage to talk about things that no one else will; and for that they are termed crazy, idiotic, having the tendencies to over-react, and so on and so forth. 
Writers aren't cursed with having a curtain drawn between them and the truth. They see the world for what it truly is and then they try writing about it in their prose in a manner which wouldn't offend anyone's feelings, but at the same time convey their message – or else in the past writers would have similarly been hanged and burned like witches.   
He chuckled at that.
Me: That is a pretty strong view about society and how they treat writers. 
Him: You could say that. I guess in a manner it is strong. Some may even say that it's biased towards writers and then they would probably conclude that it is because I myself am a writer. But in reality that's not what it really is. In reality, it is simply the truth, whether they want to believe it or not.                   
Me: I would like to revert back to what you said about parents dissuading their children from pursuing creative jobs like writing because they aren't very lucrative jobs. Well, don't you think that it's true? Being a writer does mean not having a stable job. You don't get a fixed salary and it purely depends on the audience and what they want to read.  
Him: I would disagree with that. 
Me: And what's your justification? 
Him: Simple. If you're an engineer, or a doctor, or in the field of any other occupation all you're doing is promoting yourself and your skill. A doctor, if unskilled and not proficient enough in his/her skill, could be banned from practicing for life. Similarly a lawyer, if an incompetent one, could be disbarred and refrained from ever practicing law again. 
So tell me, is there a huge difference between all these other jobs and writing? In writing you're also promoting yourself and your skill. Hence, writing is just as much a stable job as every other job. All that depends is how far the person wants to take his skill and craft and whether he/she is willing to stand up. 
Me: Alright, so let me put this into context. You're saying that writing does not have a specific procedure, as in you can't teach someone how to write, I mean in theory you can, but then it depends on the person and how much he/she practices to better themselves. And in that way writing is different from the rest of the jobs in the world. But where it is similar is that in every other job you're promoting your skill and talent, so likewise in writing you're doing the same. Correct? 
Him: Precisely.

At some point in our lives, we have resented living in our own skin, resented having to carry the weight of being the only. Like many other writers before me, this book wasn't a choice. I was in a dark place in my life, but the pen and paper liberated me. Writing opened up dimensions within me and allowed my deep-seated subconscious to come to life. Creativity was my therapy. It understood my strains of loneliness; it saw me at my most vulnerable and taught me how to be strong.
I entered the realm of writing with no expectations or desires, only with a torn heart and swollen eyes. But what I have created goes beyond 110,00 words of dialogue and fiction. I have created a book inspiring in tone and content, but at the same time, a book that does not romanticize or sensationalize the severity of prejudice and discrimination. 
I hope that my book will move you to laugh, cry, maybe shout or even throw your device against the wall in anger of one of the characters. Okay, not really throw the book. But passion is good, right?
Just like you, I'm a devoted reader. The devoted reader community isn't large, which in my mind means that we are friends, connected through the special bond we call the internet. Although I remain a work in progress, I've grown, and am excited for us to grow together.

Wallace began his session with a greeting.

She thought Wallace would be some typical old guy who preaches about the rules and regulations by immersing his audience with long dull and boring lectures. But that was not the case, Wallace is indeed old but he still rocks his young appearance and has a heart of youth. His job at KeyLine publication is probably one of the most boring ones is what often commented by others. 

To other's view, Wallace is a guy who talks about the company's history and knows about IN and OUT of its details. However, Shane Ricardo doesn't use him just for that. Wallace is also in charge of following the public response, paparazzi, rumors, gossips and other spotlight information about their writers. To simply put, Wallace is an important alliance to Shane and KeyLine. He is also well acquainted with every writer, editors, sales representatives, inventory managers, guys at the printers and so on. His network is huge and wide. 
Giselle could feel his majestic presence just by listening to him talk.
Wallace started off with KeyLine's history:
"To start off easy but also most importantly would be KeyLine publication founders. The Ricardo family were the ones who founded KeyLine. It was founded in the year, 1927 by James Ricardo. James is probably Shane's greatest grandfather, I think" Wallace laughed.
Giselle listened intently. Looking at her attentiveness made Wallace return back to his job.
He then continued... the history about KeyLine's growth in the publishing Industry.

One large cup of Americano is already over and yet there's more to learn. Giselle became weak. Noticing her tiredness, Wallace invited her out to lunch together. He got permission from Shane and they both headed out to the nearby burger joint.
Giselle and Wallace happily placed their orders and while waiting for their food, Wallace continued.
"Now, we can freely talk about the writers. We do currently manage a wide range of writers based on their manuscript, mainly. But right now, we got our top four contributors who dedicatedly work with us for a long time. I mean they're books are sold-out as soon as they get released, baby." 
Giselle gasped. 
"Our top four best are Jayce, Gill, Edwin, and Caesar. They have been associated with us for quite a long time. I think Gill is the oldest one right now, in terms of 'writers-associated with KeyLine'. Fact: Shane and Gill are old college friends."
The food arrived sooner than they expected, Wallace stopped with his session and they both enjoyed their lunch together.
"So, this is your major start as an Editor, right?" Wallace asked.
"Yeah. I have been an assistant and a proof-reader but never a proper editor. This will be my first-hand experience." Giselle confirmed.
"You're in good hands. Gill's editor is Jenna. Right now, she's our best. But when she joined, I heard that she never had any work experience. Plus, it was a die-hard situation where she needed the job desperately to take care of her family. I did have the Session with her. She's a good kid. You'll like her." Wallace shared his memories and advised Giselle to make use of this best opportunity.
After lunch, Wallace took the time to explain about each individual authors and their works. This included the genres they write, their current editors, successfully works and their achievements.
Later after their lunch, Wallace and Giselle returned to the office. The next topic of the session was all the rules and events. It also included the benefits for editors at KeyLine.

Time: 03:38 PM
"That's it. You got any doubts?" Wallace ended his session. 
His table had empty cups of Americano. Successfully, his session with Giselle had ended. Giselle looked tired but not completely worn out. She did take notes often to remember a few things. Wallace liked Giselle's calm personality. So, he gave her a lot of tips and advice. 
"Right now, I'm good. In case if I have any doubts, I'll find you." Giselle responded. 
"You got it. Hear, this is my card. And that's my number." Wallace handed over his business card and contact information for Giselle's convenience.
"Thank you, Wallace." Giselle thanked him.
"Text me if you need any help. I'll make sure to respond asap." Wallace gave her a tip.
"So, what's next?" he asked.
"Shane asked me to inform him once my session with you is over. I think I'll be meeting with Jayce." Giselle answered.
"Meeting with Jayce uh?" 
"Yes."
"well here's my advice for impressing your new author. Tell him that you like his first book." Wallace advised her.
"Tainted Love?" 
"Exactly, I heard it's based on his true life. Although his first book never really got much recognition globally, it did sell out many copies. We all say that his recent book 'Money made Love' is the most successful one. However, 'Tainted Love' is his soft spot. That guy is also smooth. So, be careful not to fall for him. After all, he is a Romance Novel author." Wallace winked.

Author's Note:
Get Back to You is very special because it is my first novel and a bold choice, I would say. The once short story showed a lot of potentials to become a perfect novel. The character had a depth to them and an unheard voice, for which I wanted to bring justice by exploring and writing. Just like how we would enjoy a typical romance story between two opposite sexes, I wanted to tell a sweet love story of two beautiful women. Through this novel, I wish to improve people's viewing of LGBT relationships and hope that we show respect without judging.
Join the adventure of Lillian Grey and Giselle and in their struggles to come together. I'm very proud of creating this story, and I constantly work hard to bring justice to its storytelling. I hope that my efforts reap when the readers enjoy the tale as they travel through this journey.
