Our main character, Evan, born within a poor household and a hard working mother along with a quirk that could come in handy one day.

Mm, just a full counter quirk, I just thought of it, not from any anime or stuff.

Novis was looking at the mass of people in the hall, many of them were watching the fight around the arenas. You could tell apart the contestants from the audience because the contestants had a white sticker across with a number on them. Similar to marathon runners. Some of the contestants were even off to the side practising with wooden or blunt swords. 

"Look at all the people playing, Some of them are even younger than me," Novis said while staring at what looked like a ten year old swinging his sword.

A match had just finished and two numbers were called out over the speaker. Then two people who were watching the match climbed into the capsules starting a brand new game against each other. The system they had was quick and efficient and wasted no time. 

Novis looked around and was surprised to see a lot of adults at a VGW tournament for kids. The adults were even more nervous than the kids.

"Hey, Arthur don't you think all of this is incredible?"

"Yes, there are so many children here. I can see it in there eyes. These children have the same passion to improve their sword skills as I did. With this, it gives me hope to believe that swordsmanship will always exist in one way or another."

Novis started to look around moving his head side by side as if he was looking for someone. "Hey, I wonder if Lucas joined this event, I can't see him anywhere."

Novis kept bumping into people as he was walking around. "There are too many people, there's no way I could find him even if he was here."

Arthur wasn't paying attention to what Novis was doing but was watching one of the matches take place in a ring nearby.

"The person in red is in trouble, he's looking for a chance to counter when he should be using speed against his opponent," Arthur said. 

Novis went over the ring to look at the game, Each character had a different coloured sash, one wearing red the other wearing blue. This was implemented in case the contestants picked the same character.

Novis could see what Arthur was talking about, the person in red was only blocking. As if he was waiting for the perfect opportunity to counter. The character in blue was using a powerhouse character, it focused mainly on attack power. These type of characters were slow so it was best to counter them with speed. 

"Red is going to lose if he keeps waiting for a counter, he needs to use his speed." Novis was simply just repeating what Arthur had said. 

A woman who was also watching the match had overhead Novis. 

"Did you just say my son was going to lose!" She went and grabbed Novis by his shirt. 

"I was just talking to myself, I'm sorry." 

As the two were arguing Red ended up losing, he never got a chance to counterattack. 

The women started to shake Novis harder. "See you jinxed my son, how is he meant to get noticed now!"

Security had quickly come over to try to calm down the situation but the mother was screaming saying her son deserved a second chance. 

Just then, a man in a suit appeared, he had blonde hair that was split parting and was wearing glasses. 

The venue security went over to the man and bowed down to him. 
"Sorry, the situation has gotten a little out of hand Mr Lally." 

Mr lally put his hands on the security guards shoulder and lifted him back to a normal standing position. "Don't worry about it, I will handle this, can you tell me what happened?"

"The mother is demanding a rematch, saying that this boy had swayed the results of the match due to his words."

"What did he say?" 

The mother then interrupted the security guard. "He said my boy was going to lose! that he was stupid." 

Novis was getting annoyed he didn't mind getting punished but not for something he didn't do or say. "That's a lie, I said if he needed to stop looking for a counter and use his speed."

Mr Lally then went up to one of the capsules. He stood there for a moment and pressed a few buttons. Then the two holograms. The same two characters that were fighting were doing it again. It was a replay the match that had just happened. 

As Mr Lally was watching the match he had come to the same conclusion as Novis, that the red sash needed to stop looking for a counter and focus on speed. Mr Lally thought it was unusual for a kid to have that much insight from just watching a game, only pros or top tier players like himself could do something like that. 

Mr Lally then walked up to the mother. "It looks like to me what the boy said was correct. If the boy had taken his advice then perhaps he would have won. Even though in this type of event the contestant can hear the crowd on the outside, if this boy tried to intentionally give bad advice I still doubt your son would have heard him over all the cheers and screaming. Maybe even your outburst at the side of the arena had put him off."

The woman knew the man standing in front of her held a high position at the tournament, if he didn't agree to the rematch then there was nothing she could do. She also didn't want to offend a pro player. The pro Comunity all knew each other well and it might spoil her son's chances in the future. 

After the commotion was over the woman and her son had rushed away from the scene to avoid any further embarrassment. Mr Lally then went and approached Novis. 

"Are you part of the tournament as well?"

"No, I just came here to watch."

My Lally thought it was a shame, he wanted to see the boy display his skills in the arena. He had a hunch that something was special about this kid.

"Do you mind coming with me?" Mr lally asked.

The morning was slow for Juray. He difficulty washed up and got prepared. Taking his bag one thing was disturbing, that team he joined yesterday, Captain Zekai, The Great Champion and his elite members. He, as a weakling joined this team and made a big mistake.

If anyone else saw this party with his level character in it, there could have been a risk of losing Ivy Mist team 's ranking of population or problems could have created for him.

Since Common teams are very high rank party and takes part in many of Minus Zero Competition and League, they were high chances of spires to enter them or watch them. The other team members of common groups, medium guilds with great guilds all could do anything related to spying which mostly ended up in great conflicts. These high parties used ordinary character or low level players to do their dirty work in exchange of any items, weapon, armor or rare credits. 
Since this was an online game any part could be played. Even inside such a great online game security measures were also a priority however, human brains are far from limits, including a normal player too. He, any ordinary player, would also have a cannon to break through the walls of iron in order to fulfill his desire. 
Thus, if a matter grew out of limit, Minus Zero security and community would have no choice but to erase the character completely off the database not caring if he's guilty or not. Such were the situation occurring around. 


Juray offed the light and went out. While walking through the corridor he was lost in his thoughts worried maybe some problems might create and he might lose Cecil forever. As getting out and entering the yellow bright station, the morning counter man greeted him with wishing him good luck for his university. As getting out, looking up at the six balcony as expected he was there. 
Yu-say with his cup, smiling at him and weaved. Returning the weave Juray walked on to the path of studies. 


When the sun was over head, Juray returned back. Arriving near the station, surprisingly Yu-say was at the opposite side preparing to cross the road. The boy waited till the other person met at one spot. 
"Ah! Juray!...." surprised his fellow "you are here but....." he noticed him tired and weak. 
Obviously for a player like Yu-say he would understand this guy was feeling regret about the previous night. He smiled taking out from his pocket a lollypop and said unpacking it "let's go inside. Soon your job will start".


At 1:30pm, the crowd increased in the station. The morning counter man couldn't leave so easily he was extreme busy in running upstairs, down hall, left and right. There was no stop and the man wished it should be over soon with the shift.
In this station, one employer couldn't take or interrupt in another's work until his time arrives. The boss's rule was one should give all his strength and energy in his own work rather than trusting others. Then only there will be a value of hardship and paying. But in case of any incident or health point two extra employers were registered to come and do his duration, instead of the next shifter taking his place plus, work further hours on his own timing too. 
While Juray arrived at the counter, preparing for his timing, climbing behind the counter, the night shifter was standing near the counter enjoying his third lollypop, he said "hey, Juray I was thinking let's take a break tonight...".

"What?" surprised the boy behind the counter "we won't play tonight... but, I am fine".


"I know..." he turned to him leaning on the table, supporting his elbows on the surface and placing his palms under his chin, with it chewing his lollypop "but the class will start tomorrow and you will get more people to face than more to learn. So, I suggest you should rest well before we start...".


He was right. Juray was tired due to late bed timing even thou, he didn't have problem in waking up no matter he slept in due of bird or dogs. He was disturbed by knowing the identity of the team that accompanied him yesterday and couldn't even nap well. 

Yu-say was good at noticing such things that's why he offered a break from the game to have fresh mind. When Juray asked about the mission, it was blue rose, remaining him he HAS to be on time at once to attend it. However, Yu-say smiled and answered relaxed, 
"The timing is in Long shooters hands. If I go online the timing will start. So let's say I won't play too... Got it?"

 Blue rose had only two characters in it Cecil with Long shooter and two players working side by Juray and Yu-say.
So, it was clear for both they didn't have any problems of worries who will go online or who will be offline. Both were at same place, same spot, same area, same timing and together. Thinking about it a smile stretched in Juray's lips.


 Just as a side question away from games he asked "you are so attracted to the lollypop that even when it's in your mouth you still can be heard clearly" adding there wasn't any disturbance in his sound either. 

The tall boy stood straight and said "I am been eating this sweet for quite long... I am use to it.... Wanna have?" he offered him another, taking it out of his pocket. Juray just shook smiling. 


In the afternoon, Juray took the shift and began whereas, the man was finally relief and ran away. Like always, bit in double quantity, the employer had to work in the counter registering, attending the calls of other customers needing help and helping around in the system.
Whereas, Yu-say was only roaming around empty, with his hands in his pocket and lollypop in the mouth. He sometimes went to the upper floors watching there and sometimes stood where Juray would be working and watched. 

Nothing was boring around, a person would always get something to do to spend time with.

 Like wise, Yu-say opened the counter drawer as he remembered there were two guide books, one of Minus Zero, the other of Dimensional Gate and began to reading the second guide. 

After few minutes, Juray returned to get some needing and surprisingly found him in the seat, lacking while reading the guide. 
"Ah! you are reading?..." he saw the book's back cover and recognized it cause he's always use to it's delivery but, the question was why was he reading a book about a game different than his own usual game. 
Yu-say didn't reply but kept reading attentively that brought a smile in him. He's a strange character person who was difficult for Juray to understand. The employer picked up a pen and left.


Among the crowd while Juray was working he heard "JURAY" a call. He saw Yamato weaving at him in the side. 
"Ah! it's Yamato...." and went to him.

Yamato was a classmate of Juray arising in the same university but studying in different group. Like Juray was studying computer engineering whereas, Yamato with his brother were studying business and accounting. Yet, all three knew each other well through the game Minus Zero. The two twins were very interested in combat skills and fighting action which was why they choose Twin star dragons to fulfill their flavor. 
As the two mates met, Yamato said "you look quite busy now-a-days. Is everything alright?"


"Yeah, nothing to worry. Just attention got a lot here" his friend replied.


"Well, you seem so busy so I won't take much time of yours but, I wanted to tell you two things" spoke Yamato. His friend was all ears. 
He told him a special event of Minus Zero will soon began so he wanted his friend to make sure he too should take part before the unknown great event's coming. 
Juray was dumbfounded.
The second thing he told was his brother has gotten a job and might come here in different timing for it. He asked if Juray could led him a hand when needing. 
Juray replied agreeing "yes, I will. No problem, I am not sure during my off times but if I find him around I will ensure to help him".


"Thanks a lot" said Yamato in relief and both returned to their works.


At night 10:40pm, the station was still lightened and the guest were few in number. Stretching the arms high in air and falling lifeless, Juray leaned back on the chair and sighed deeply.
"Tired?" he heard Yu-say coming to the counter.


"Yeah..... weaken too" he replied "but I will sleep well and it will be fine" the other employer nodded. Then Juray started a question roaming in his mind for long.
"Am.... Yu-say"

"Yes?"

"I have a question to ask...." 

"Go on...."

"I heard a special event for the game will start soon in Minus Zero... do you have any idea?"

A shock shoked the other employer and he quickly turned to the counter, grabbing the calendar from the table and went through it. 
"Oh dear that early....?" he asked himself. 
Juray stared in confusion and asked "is everything alright?"
Yu-say smiled at him and replied "yeah it will be fun and you will be there" taking out the empty stick from his mouth, placing on his lips, he winkled saying "it should be secret for new comers then only they will have fun".


Giggling, Juray commented "I guess this game's events are all surprising and filled with delightment just like the place which took place in here earlier".

Yu-say was confused. He was new here and didn't attend it but, heard of it a lot and only nodded.

Come to know a game, where you battle new unknown beast, struggle in fights against New opponents, work on your character like one self and see who shall reach the top level, your favorite fighter or your opponents, unknown to all. Apart of this a game where professional has a value. Top player level-100?
No Top player level 1! and what is it to be beyond that!
Player will realize the true worth of being higher level, above 1 the power of Minus Zero, will soon lay in our hands.

Chapter 4 – Continue the Game
[Play the game. Keep Sword Beast's identity a secret. If you tell anyone, I will report you to the Grentz Union and you know what will happen to people who hacks a game under the union's control, right?] 
Ethan read the message and he shuddered. 'A hacker? How can a hacker outwit the powerful AI or is the powerful AI only a rumor?' Ethan's mind was in a mess. 
'Why me?' He wanted to ask the question but the message disappeared and was replaced with a new one. 
[Play Next World every day. Don't ask any questions and just play the game. Make sure you play both the characters. I know everything you do] Ethan read the new message and his body started shivering. He was too scared. 
A second later, the message vanished. 
"Why am I so unlucky?" Ethan spoke to himself. He did not know what scheme was this hacker had and he was extremely afraid. It looked like he was forced to be in some kind of plot or something. 
Ethan went to the kitchen and had a cup of water. He needed to calm down. Even so, he could not calm down. Everything that had happened earlier was too scary. A timid person like him would not be able to handle everything by himself and he was too scared to tell anyone about it too. 
It took Ethan an hour before he fully calmed down. He still felt scared but he was already a part of this and the unknown enemy was too scary for him. 
'Who is it? Is it Shawn? But Shawn is a nice person but maybe that is all just a front? But Shawn is a nice person. He will not try to harm me and we don't have any problem with each other,' Ethan tried to list down people who he suspected the one behind all of this.
'Is it that girl? Or, the guy who fixes the VR device? That guy is working at the Diamond Dragon Tech so, he is possibly the only one who is capable of doing this?' Ethan thought about everything. 
A few minutes later, he just stared blankly at a wall in front of him. He was not sure who did this and he did not know the purpose he was chosen. He suspected Shawn, Clarisse, or Clarisse's brother but he was too scared to investigate them.
"Whatever happens will happen. Everything is like that all my life," Ethan spoke. He looked listless. He gave up on thinking who was the perpetrator. "I have a more important matter to care for. I need the money and if this cheat can help me with this problem, I should just use it…" 
"That person did not tell me the reason he chose me and my purpose of using this hack or cheat, so, I should just play it normally. Once that person gives me more instruction, I will think about this later. Now, I need money…" 
Ethan glanced at the VR device and sighed. He wore the device and lied on the bed. He turned it on and dived into the game. 
[Choose your character. Ethan or Sword Beast?] Ethan chose his original character and appeared at the same plaza he appeared earlier. There were a lot of people around but Ethan looked the most noob of them all. 
Since he was new to the game, he only wore a plain white t-shirt, pants, and slippers. Ethan walked to a nearby bench and checked on his menu. 
The game menu had nine options. They were status, skill, equipment, storage, map, mission, chat, notifications, and login/logout. Ethan clicked on chat and registered Shawn's phone number but it looked like Shawn was not online. 
So, Ethan checked on his status. When he clicked the status menu, he was given a choice to view his and Sword Beasts' status. Ethan checked his original character's status first.

"So, all the stats have the same limit," Ethan nodded, and then, he checked on Sword Beast. Since he now knew that the character was functional, he wondered if Sword Beast had indeed done stats training.

When Ethan saw Sword Beast's stats, he was shocked. Sword Beast was level 1 without any experience points but his stats were now more than what he should have at this moment. 
Every Player in Next World would get 10 total stat points in the beginning. This was something Ethan had read on many forums since the game launched last night and he had experienced it too when creating the characters.
When leveling up, the Players would only be able to get 3 stat points for each level and 10 stat points to increase the stats' limit. 
However, increasing the stats could also be done by training or continuous use or movement of the related stats. According to the information, he read online, for one stat point, the player needed to accumulate 5 hours in-game time of the stat's training or movement or uses elated to the stat. 
In Next World, 1 day was equaled to 1 hour in real-life. Ethan logged in an hour after what happened earlier and Sword Beast's stat should not be this much. 
Sword Beast had maxed out his Health, Energy, and Strength stats. Not only that but he was currently training his Endurance stats as stated by the timer at the side of the stat. 
Sword Beast had his stats increased by 20 points in 24 hours which was impossible. Since 5 hours was needed to increase one stat point, in 24 hours, theoretically, a player would only be able to increase at most, 4 points. 
Even so, 4 points were still hard to gain because they needed some rest too but Sword Beast did the impossible. He had increased his stats by 20 points!
"Is it the multiplier? Did the multiplier decrease the time needed for training by five times? I made Sword Beast's multiplier by 5 so, is this it?" Ethan wondered and he remembered that he put his original character's multiplier to 2 so, his training would twice as fast as other players. 
"Will anyone get suspicious later?" Ethan was scared but even though he felt that way, he was smiling. Ethan realized this too and remembered that his character's personality was happy and humble which was different than his real personality which was timid. 
"…It feels weird smiling like this…" Ethan spoke weakly but his character spoke differently. 
"It feels weird smiling like this~" while smiling. Ethan was smiling happily when he spoke this sentence. 
"…" Ethan went silent as he was not used to smiling. Even so, his character was smiling showing a bright face. 'This feels like my soul is inside someone else's body and that person's soul was also inside that body…' 
Ethan looked around as he was not sure what to do. He did not know where to start. According to the forums online, they needed to go to the training center and learned basic skills and after that, they were free to do whatever they wanted. 
The missions were generated based on situation and the players needed to grasp the opportunity themselves if they wanted missions with high rewards and so on. 
So, Ethan got out of the plaza and searched for the training center. As he was walking, Ethan felt the view was different from that he used to in real life. 
The reason was that Ethan's character was walking while looking forward and his body was straight. The character was unlike Ethan who always walked while looking at the ground and his back hunched a bit. 
Ethan was not used to this view as he saw many people's faces and looking at them filled him with anxiety. Even so, he was not able to evade seeing them as there were too many people around and he was unable to look at the ground. 
This was a new experience for Ethan. He wanted to embrace it but it was too hard for him to feel comfortable in this situation. After walking for a few minutes, Ethan saw a massive building and on the signboard was the training center. 
Similar to the normal fantasy world, Next World used the style of the middle ages for their building. There was no technology in the game's world. So, the building in front of Ethan right now was not a common modern building but a stone building following the style of the middle ages. 
Many players and NPCs were walking in and out of the building and all of them looked like a newbie. Ethan walked inside and there were many counters inside. 
"New Adventurer can choose either to learn basic skills of your choices or go to the training ground behind the building to train your stats," an employee of the training center shouted. 
"If you want to train your stats, you don't need to register at the counter. If you want to learn a basic skill, choose a counter you like and register. If you want to become a swordsman, register at the Swordsman counter! If you want to become an archer, go to the Archer counter and so on!" 
Ethan heard the shout. Then, he looked for the forging counter and there was one, and compared to the other counter, it was quite empty. It was understandable because everyone preferred fighting in a fantasy game. 
However, Ethan's aim was not the fun of the game but money. He needed money and thus, production playstyle might be the best choice. Ethan registered at the counter and after that, he and a few other players were led by the staff to the workshop to learn forging. 
On the way there, Ethan passed through the training ground and he was shocked to see that Sword Beast was there and he was training his Endurance by bumping his body against a thick log. 
'H-H-He can move by himself?!' Ethan was shocked. Sword Beasts suddenly stopped his training and he turned around to look at Ethan. 
"!!!" Ethan was shocked because Sword Beasts looked so much alive as a normal person. It did not look like a computer was controlling him. 
Since Sword Beasts was set with a cold and domineering personality, Ethan was sweating on his back due to the pressure. Be that as it may, Ethan was looking straight to Sword Beast's eyes and smiled at him.

Synopsis
Grentz is a world with high technology. One of the technologies that have advanced far is Virtual Reality (VR). Thanks to this, VR is widely used in the world and as usual, the gaming scene is the most synonym to the technology. 
The Grentz Union alongside the biggest gaming company in the world collaborates and makes the biggest Fantasy Action RPG game called the Next World. They also intended to use the game as a platform for safe competition among the countries.
Ethan is a college student but a family problem made his life in the college harder. Next World is a game where it can help his problem and Ethan decided to buy the special VR device for Next World. 
However, an accident broke the device but thankfully, he managed to fix it. Even so, after he starts the game, he finds out that he can create two characters.

Having some wifi "accidentally said power lol" outages so might not have all my 5 done by tomorrow but I'll try my best. *yawn* I got time to kill I'll try and write them out but I only finished 26 before I got the outage so I'm working on a text doc which doesn't have a inbred character counter which I use to define chapter start and stop so it'll be a bit hard to make sure it's not short or long but long probably won't be a issue. I like to get my point across in a short to put more content into every chapter but there's also a delicate balance between blow hard and ocd which means I could write the same sentence 500 different ways just to get the same point across in a different amount of words usually lean towards shorter but I like to use big words everyone in awhile to better define the appearance of a thing in a more poetic way. Rather then a pile of short hands and slang. Such as "I ponder with extreme doubt as I strain my brain to remember the details needed" or "ig" about the same point a vastly different number of characters. Ones a bit strained and pulled out though. Both are kinda extremes of different sides. Anyways yeah I'm sure you get my point, I'ma have to set up a character counting application or something for this moment shouldn't be hard... was my h harder to set up that fake Windows update as a kid to text me my computer's admin password when my father had me locked out of the system as just a user. A simple key long to define the number of times I've typed out a few letters then hit space is quite easy to design. Hmm anyways yeah toodles my poodles. I don't have the foggiest idea what that was intended to mean... heh... accidentally typed doggiest and now I wanna leave that dumb pun... but I'll make it foggiest.

*Yawn* 

 Infinite lifetimes is the theme of this story. The mc will repeatedly die... This gives the option of 0 plot armor and total freedom of the work. There's no way to spoil it... The story has an overarcing plot... that hasn't even really started... but tons of foreshadowing and buildup... so look forward to that...

"Kuya, what happened- truly?"

Hearing this I sighed as I began to monologue most of everything that had taken place- leaving some parts out.

"I knew it-!"

Said Mother as she looked at me again- 

"I received information from one of my sources that you had fought against one of the local Yakuza's."

"And even destroyed the leader with a flick- !"

"Yes mother, but it's because- I"

But before I could speak Mother interrupted as she said seriously.

"You saved Luna Calithilel Bella N'dim Torher - from the Torher Family- one of the oldest and strongest families in this world who dominate multiple sectors of Magic Society.

You saved her- I know this but it seems that the girl has developed an interest in you- 

She too is attending the academy- so be on the lookout for her- and stay safe now Kuya!"

After this, she squeezed me again as she patted my back.

Reciprocating, I answered- "Yes mum, don't worry I'll make sure I stay safe and I'll contact you if anything goes wrong."

Hearing that she sighed a breath of relief as she left me to my own device- what I needed to do now was train harder and get stronger- 

And I needed to unlock my special ability- the Soul Slayer so that I could use this ability when my base form failed in a battle.

Knowing that it was a 10x multiplier was great as it meant that in times of need this ability would be undoubtedly useful.

Right now Byakuya was within a classroom as the beginning of his life within Kurama Academy began.

Yes, this was the school name- Kurama Academy due to the founder being a Nine-Tailed Fox that studied to the apex of Magic.

Hence the name, and right now I was sitting next to the protagonist seat whilst I was between another person.

Three Successes, no crits or botches -  During any game session that you notice a strange trend in the results of the dice.  The first player to announce this can earn an Event reward.  The player gets a minus one difficulty for any knowledge test for the rest of the game night.  The Player can choose to purchase this Forbidden Knowledge merit anytime for the cost of 20 Souls.
Event - Successful gaining the reward of an event can grant a Player a chance to purchase a Merit. There are many types of events created by the Storyteller or by certain actions in game.
Merit - All merits are available to starter characters.  Merits can be purchase from events in the game with souls.
Knowledge - There are twelve categories to choose from on your character sheet.  These can be raise with experience points with only the Storytellers approval.  You have to work hard if you want increase the level of any knowledge.
Forbidden Knowledge - 20 Merit.  Reduce by one the difficulty of any knowledge test.
Souls - A Player resource similar to experience points. As they are spent only with the Storytellers approval.  After all you need to earn the right to be able spend your collected souls to improve any stat on the character sheet.  Any race or creature you kill will grant you a copy of it's soul.
Permanent - Magical tests with five success for effect can be made permanent, the number of permanent enchantments is dependent of crafted items rarity.
Rarity - Crafted items start at Common, Rare, Master crafted, Grandmaster crafted, and Legendary.
Beastfolk - Humanoid race that have beast like heads/body parts for appearance.  The most powerful are the Lionmen who created their own race.
Race - Any Player may choose freely from the ninety four races for their starting character.
Lionmen - A large and powerful faction of the Beastfolk decided to become a new race and conquered the surrounding regions and named the warchief their ruler. A kingdom of Lionmen was born eight thousand years ago and still standing strong.  Lionmen are known to be blood thirsty bastards on the battlefield, so regional rulers avoid fighting them.
Warrior - Any Starter Character can choose this as their starting class.  Warriors are the most common class among the races.
Storyteller - Hopefully the person who can weave great stories for the players to enjoy.
Dice - A pool of D10 that the total sum equal to the level of the test plus appropriate attribute.
D10 - Only type of dice used in this game that has 10 sides to land on.
Successes - Number of dice equal or greater than test difficulty.
Crits - A naturally rolled 10 is considered a critical roll and can cause critical damage with out the proper defense.
Critical damage -  These types of wounds can only be healed by magic or at the start of a new session  for each level of critical damage taken.  For example if a player suffered three critical level of damage, without magic to heal they have to wait three sessions to finally heal.
Botches - A naturally rolled 1 is considered a botch and will negate a naturally rolled 10 in the result pool.  Multiple botches can result is some serious effects due to a large number of Flaws available.
Flaws - All Flaws are available for starter characters.  The cost of the flaw gives same amount of starting souls for the player to spend.  However, flaws cost three times their cost in souls to remove. Please add some flaws to your character and the Storyteller will attempt to incorporate them into your story.
Attack - A test plus appropriate attribute to hit something and hopefully cause an effect.
Shadow Strike - Common enchanted sword from the local guild shop. Reduce difficulty to hit by one and plus one damage.  Shadow Strike skill, cost one mana point to instantly teleport to your target's shadow and engage them in melee combat.  The surprised target suffer plus one difficulty to avoid this attack. Might, cost one mana to activate which last until the end of the round, this gives the wielder plus one to their Racial Advantage Might.
Mana - A Player resource that is needed to activate Magical Items and cast Arcane Spells.
Magical Items - Several Magical Fields allow for the creation of magical items.
Magical Fields - There are fifteen magical fields a Priest or Wizard can choose to learn.
Arcane Spells - Are Wizard class spells.
Priest - Any Starter Character can choose this as their starting class. They can only learn Magical Fields that their Patron Deity possess.  Priest use Faith as a resource to cast Sacred Spells.
Patron Deity - Other the nine main Deities, there are also Demi-gods, Demon Lords, Elemental Lords, Spiritual Lords, etc.  The Storyteller can create a NPC as a Patron Deity to better fit into his story. Players can also attempt to negotiate with the Storyteller if they have an idea for a Patron Deity. However, no self created Patron Deity may exceed the nine main Deities powers without serious in game events.
Faith - A player resource that is need to cast Sacred Spells.  A Faith point can also be use for an automatic hit in combat, but must be acknowledge by the Storyteller before the test is made.
Sacred Spells - Priests cast spells from their Patron Deity's magical fields, these spells give off a divine feeling from their Patron Deity.
Wizard - Any Starter Character can choose this as their starting class.  They must choose the starting Racial Magical Field plus one of their choice. Wizard use Mana as a resource to cast arcane spells.
Racial Magical Field - Each Race has one Magical Field that they are naturally gifted at using.
Racial Advantage - Any non-restricted racial advantage can taken by Starter Character.  Every race and creature have their own mix of racial advantages to start with.
Might - A racial advantage that convert normal damage to critical damage and can only resisted with the racial advantage Resilient.  The maximum critical damage causes per attack can not exceed the level of Might.
Resilient - A racial advantage that helps resist critical damage.  The maximum amount of critical damage you can resist per attack can not exceed the level of Resilient.
Counter Attack - Can only be used after a successful Dodge or Parry. You suffer a plus one difficulty to hit as you attempt to push your body that extra mile.
Dodge - One of the twelve talents on the Character Sheet. Test consisting of Dodge plus Melee Combat, each success cancel out one hit success.
Parry - Test consisting of Weapon plus Melee Combat, each success cancel out one hit success.
Difficulty - Ten minus the level of the test you are using.  Example one handed weapon is level three, then the difficulty would be ten minus three so the difficulty of seven to hit something with your one handed weapon.
Difficulty to Hit - Any questionable attack the Storyteller has the right to grant bonuses or penalties to the hit chances.  Basically the final modify number you need to hit your target.
One Handed Weapon - The most common of the twelve talents available on the Character Sheet. Any weapon that need only one hand to wield and the ability to land a successful hit.
Damage - Test consisting of Strength Combat plus number of successes that hit.  Other factors may be involved to increase the dice pool
Johnbedamage - Human Warrior who recently join Goldbranch's adventurer team.
Ironfang - A large Beastfolk male with panther like features with Warrior as his class. The Tigerbeast is his Pet Follower and the Karla the Beastgirl owes him a life debt and travel with him.
Karla - A young female Beastfolk with mink like features with Rogue as her class.  She owes her life to Ironfang and travels with him in hopes of negating the Life Debt.  She carries Grimfang, a magical enchant knife that emits a pale yellow glow.
Life Debt - Many races take a Life Debt seriously, if someone saves their life they will follow that person in attempt to save their life in return.
Grimfang - Common enchanted knife from the local guild shop. Reduce difficulty to hit by one and plus one damage.  Swift Strike skill, cost one mana, if you have more than 3 successes hit after your opponent dodge or parry results you force your opponents to suffer plus one difficulty to resist the damage.
Tigerbeast - A Demonic Beast with some tiger attributes.
Demonic Beast - Common creature that plague the wilds in most worlds.
Pet - Any Player, NPC or Creature can own combat pet.  The number of pets a person can own is equal to their Leadership Virtue attribute.  A pet can be any creature that the Storyteller permits you to have.
NPC - Non Player Character are used by the Storyteller to flesh out his story and give the players something to interact with socially or in battle.
Creature - There is a large variety of creatures crafted for the Storyteller to use.  Of course the Storyteller can create their own creatures or modify existing ones to flesh out his story.
Follower - Any Player or NPC can hire any race as a follower.  The number of followers a person can own is equal to their Leadership Virtue attribute.  Followers can only be earn though successful events in the story.
Healing Potion - An enchanted Item created by using Alchemy magical field of study with medicinal herbs. It's purpose is to heal wounds, and the strength of the potion is dependent on the number of successes the resulted in it's creation.
Str 6 - Shorten version of Strength 6, this shorten version is used to denote various level of enchantments and is heavily use by the Storyteller and veteran players.  Higher the number gives the possible of higher effect.  Note Crits and Botches in the enchant can have a variety of unknown effects that the Storyteller can employ.  A lazy Storyteller can simply use each enchantment crit to be consider an automatic success, while each blotch cancel out a crit and if no crit is left simply reduces the strength of the enchantment by one.
Enchantment - Magical field of study that specializes in put a magical effect on any item.  An Item's craft level will restrict the number of enchantment  it can have.
Critical Wound - One critical wound can only be heal at the beginning of the next session or by magical healing.
Bleeding - Wound that suffer bleeding effect suffer the same damage successes at the beginning of the next round.  Some bleeding wounds can bleed more than one round.
Injured - Injured status cause the victim to lose one action on the next round.
Shadow - Beastman Rogue who joined Goldbranch team a year ago.  Shadow know the rules and can calculate basic test results.  So instead of stating successes, crit and botches, he just stats the final outcome.  Example I took another level of damage and now at wounded.
Rogue - Any Starter Character can choose this as their starting class.  Rogues are known for stealth, traps and ambushing.
Basic Test - Test plus attribute is easy to figure out, hidden tests are those the Storyteller need to advance any event.
Hidden Test - Test that the Storyteller may decide for any reason, including rolling a single dice mysteriously and give out a grin to add suspense to your story.
Turn - Is divided up of an exchanges of Actions among the combatants that end when all combatant use up all their Actions.  The more Actions a player has the more exchanges they can participate in.  When a Combatant runs out of Actions, any opponent can spend a action to gain a free hit on the defenseless combatant.
Free Hit - An attack that automatically hits the target and may ignore one Botch roll.
Wounded - Wounded status cause the victim to lose two actions the next round.
Toughness - One of the five Combat attributes, this one help resist physical attacks.
Armor - Crafted to protect the wearer and can be made from a large variety of materials.  Light Armor provide one level of protection and is made for leathers and cloths.  Heavy Armor provides two level of protection and made of various metals.
Actions - one of the five Combat attributes, each level grants one action to use during a combat round.
Blazing Glory - Human Wizard who has followed Goldbranch for a number of years as an adventurer
Firebolt - A basic magical attack using fire as the base element.
Added Effect - Each success for effect when casting a magical spell can be converted to an extra magical effect.  Examples would be double the number of targets, area of effect, extra duration.
Burning Damage - Common fire base added affect use duration.
Fire Resistance - One of seven elemental resistances.  Each level automatically removes a level of fire damage.
Round - A round of combat which end when no combatant has any Actions left to use.  It is divided up by exchanges, each exchange can have a maximum of two Actions spent.  However the second action always suffer a plus one difficulty hit.
Initiative - Based on each Combatant Dexterity Physical Attribute.  Ties are resolve by rolling one die, highest gains the better initiative. Once the initiative is set it can only be change with magical effects. 
Leap - Racial skill that allow you to jump out of combat and ignore any free hack from melee opponents.  Demonic beast can jump up to 30 feet away and humanoid can jump up to 20 feet.
Aggro - Combatants will concentrate their Actions on the one that cause the most damage to them.
Sixth Sense -  One of the twelve Talents list in the Character Sheet.  Sixth Sense is mainly used in ambushes and events that require special detection.
Ambush - Attempt to surprise an opponent using Conceal/Spot Rural or Urban Knowledge.  Each success forces the victims gain an equal amount of Sixth Sense success to be able to use an Action for defense.  If the victim fails to gain the number of successes, they suffer an automatic hit.
Character Sheet - Piece of paper that records the actual stats of the player and their inventory.
Goldbranch - Elven Ranger who leads of a group of adventurers. He likes to act out his move in front of the Storyteller so he can see and judge the difficulty of the move more accurately.
Hated Rival - A 20 point Flaw, when the player cause too many botches a single session it make cause the Hated Rival or some of their followers to ambush the player.
Eye for an Eye - Spend an remaining Action to instantly make counter attack that automatically hits.
Hurt - Hurt status cause the victim to lose one action the next round.
Stunned - Stunned status cause the victim to lose two actions the next round.
Bite and Throw - Tigerbeast special attack, cost one mana, if the victim is successfully bitten the Tigerbeast will then shake the victim is its jaws and throw them away.  The victim must resist the same amount of damage from the bite at the beginning of the next exchange or round.
Barrier Ring - Common enchanted ring from the local guild shop. The Barrier Ring has limited charges.  A charge can be use to instantly create a protective barrier of Arcane Energy.  The strength of the barrier is dependent of Enchanter's successes for effect.  Once the Barrier Ring reaches zero charge, make a single die test, odds the ring turns to dust and even the ring can be recharged.
Arcane Energy - The entire multi dimensional universe is fill with Arcane Energy, all Players, NPCs and Creatures naturally absorbs Arcane Energy and turn it into Mana.
Infernal Claw Strike - Tigerbeast special elemental fire attack, cost one mana, turns his claws on fire which cause standard magical fire attack.
Recharge - Enchanters can attempt to recharge magic items.  However if there is any charges left, there is an automatic Botch added to the effect test.  This is known as the recharge overload, and this is the main reason Enchanters wont touch magic items still with charges. After all the exploding item can kill them.
Enchanters - Common title to those who possess the Enchantment magical field of study.

Just a creative story about role play gaming.

When Aastha hears loud noises in her head she covers her ears and runs out of the canteen leaving dumbfounded Aayushma behind.
Aastha took a long deep breath and tried to think she could only hear like a normal person, then to experiment whether it works or not, she slowly put down her hand then open the canteen door a little and hear the sound coming from it and to her surprise it actually works.
She looks around for Aayushma only to find shocked her still rooted in the same place as before. Aastha walks up to her friend and pats her shoulder, " why are you daydreaming in such a place?"
Aayushma regains her senses and glare at her friend, " You are asking me why?"
Aayushma put her hands on her waist, narrow her eyes then said," It's because someone runs out of the canteen as if they had seen a ghost leaving me shocked by their abnormal behavior, and do you know who that someone is?"
Aastha sheepishly smiles and scratches her nose out of embarrassment, " sorry, it's just I couldn't adjust to so much noise suddenly."
When Aayushma heard her friend's apologies she 'humph', " It's ok, now let's go and eat something I am hungry," Aayushma said rubbing her belly.
"You are a lost cause," saying that Aastha pulls Aayushma's hand and went to look for a seat before ordering their food.
The canteen system of T university is quite different from other universities, in this university the canteen is like a restaurant where you could order the food on the menu and you could even order the food out of the menu but you have to pay more for it.
The coolest part is the canteen organizes a lucky draw every week and 3 lucky winners could add their favorite food on the menu for 7 days of their choice but they have to notify the canteen beforehand when they wish to add their food.
However, since there are no waiters to take orders they have to go to the counter and order their food themselves.
Aastha and Aayushma luckily find an empty table of four at the corner of the room since it is 1 pm right now, a right time for lunch there are many students in the canteen and they have to wait a while to get their food so they had to find table beforehand so they can relax while they wait for their order.
" You sit here, I will go order something to eat," Aastha said leave.
Aastha quickly walks to the counter and order themselves 2 chicken rolls with 2 bowls of hot mixed beans soups then she returns to her table with the number 105 receipt in her hand.
Aastha takes a seat then handed her the receipt she gets from the counter with the names of the ordered food.
" 105! It will at least take 15 minutes to get our order," Aayushma groan and pouted in response Aastha could nod her head and give sympathy to her hungry friend.
As they wait for their food, Aayushma asks her about her life in A country likewise Aastha also asks her how she spends her time in N country in her absence.
As they were talking someone suddenly sits at their table which is surprising, as Aastha is cold and indifferent to everybody she doesn't have any friend other than Aayushma and Aayushma may seem bubbly and friendly but she is suspicious of anybody who wants to be close to her since she is the only heir of Singh Enterprise so when they notice someone sitting in their table they both stop talking and look at the person sitting.
However, it seems it isn't a good idea as they both don't welcome the person sitting at their table.
However, Aastha didn't show much on her face as she hasn't met him properly yet.
But Aastha was quite surprised to see a clear disgusting look at Aayushma when she looks at the Danish sitting at their table.
Aastha couldn't figure out how Danish make Aayushma disgust him that much but Aastha was quite happy with the development.
Saying this is the best thing that happens this month mightn't understand. She is quite curious about this development and is ready for the gossip.
When both of them look at Danish with not so much interest, Danish was embarrassed. He might be shameless and have a disgusting character but he is handsome with his dark blue eyes, blond hair, sharp face, and well-maintained body.
If his character wasn't bad Aastha will definitely consider him good-looking but to her disappointment, he is total a*sh*le and a complete jerk.
" May I sit here?" Danish asked softly looking at both Aastha and Aayushma as he takes a seat in one of the remaining chairs at their table.
" Haven't you already take a seat?" Aayushma sarcastically reminds him ignoring his soft voice.
Danish laugh sheepishly hearing Aayushma sarcastic laugh.
Aayushma 'huffs' and ignore him.
" Who might be you?" Aastha asked Danish.
" I am an exchange student Danish, Danish Malhotra," Danish introduced himself.
" Myself Aastha Acharya nice meeting you and sorry I was out of the country so I didn't recognize you earlier," Aastha said with a smile.
" No problem, we could start getting to know each other now," Danish said flashing his one of the charming smile as he claimed.
" Yes, we would know each other soon," Aastha said with a mysterious smile on her lips which seems to make Danish smile more in anticipation.
Aayushama was quite unsatisfied with this development with them and pout in discontent and glare at Danish fiercely.
Seeing her friend's unapproved face Aastha smiles more and laugh inwardly at Danish foolishness.
This time Aastha will surely make him pay with his blood and tears. Danish didn't bother them and start to eat his lunch.
After sometime 105 number was called since Aayushma has a receipt, she went to the counter to take their order.
As soon as Aayushma walk out of their table, Danish look at Aastha and asked, " Are you, two friends?"
" Yes, we are why?" Aastha asked raising her eyebrow at him.
Danish fidget for a moment, he looks uncomfortable and he opens and closes his mouth as if he was having a dilemma on whether to tell her something or not.
If Aastha doesn't know him better she might really think he was going to say some secret but since she knew him she just ignores him and starts to look at her phone.
" You aren't the topper Aastha Acharya, are you?" Danish finally speaks weakly as he sees Aastha ignoring him.
" Yes, I am. Why is there any problem?" Aastha asked coldly.
Danish was angry and disappointed at Aastha's response but he continues his plan to break their friendship.
At first, he wants to win over Aayushma but his boss wants him to woo Aastha and break her completely, he was reluctant to leave Aayushma as she was a rich and only child but when he hears Aastha is the BIG BOSS of ASHAN he was in a great mood and happy.
Aayushama may be the heiress but right now she doesn't have anything of her own whereas Aastha is president of the company at such a young age.
" Well, have you heard the rumor about yourself, and do you know who spread it?" Danish asked looking worried.
