Tuesday morning, I woke up feeling a bit dizzy and so before I left for school, I took a pill of Panadol to ease my headache a bit. I took my time making my way to school, listening to my favorite songs and I was relieved that the dizziness I felt this morning had faded.

I walked in between buildings and through corridors before I arrived in front of our homeroom, where I saw Misha with her head down on her table. 'Probably sleeping?' I thought as I entered the room and sat down next to her.

"Hey, you good?" I whispered to Misha.

"Mmm…" Misha responded and lifted her head up from the table.

"You got a good rest yesterday?"

"Yes. Apparently, I slept like a log…" Misha said as she yawned, "You?"

"Still alive, just woke up with a bit of a headache."

"Are you feeling better now?"

"Mmm… Yeah, I guess." I said, "I don't have anything on today so I can go and watch you practice at lunchtime."

"Really?! That's great!" Misha started to get excited.

"I mean… I feel bad for not going yesterday so…" I said.

"Don't be. Besides it's not your fault that you couldn't go yesterday."

"True, but still-" I was cut off when the bell rang and Mr. Nakamura entered the room.

"Talk to you later…!" Misha whispered-yelled to me before facing the front and fixing her posture.

Homeroom felt short today, probably because of the fact that all we did during homeroom was play hangman since Mr. Nakamura didn't have anything to say to the class - except to remind us about the upcoming Sports Event.

As we made our way to our next class, which was English, Misha talked about her practice yesterday, "...so they did this pyramid thing and one of the girls nearly fell, luckily she didn't."

"She's really lucky… If she fell, she won't be able to participate in the Sports Event."

"Haha yeah." Misha laughed awkwardly.

"Well, I can't wait to see how good you are in cheerleading." I said as we arrived at our English class.

"I'll try my best."

We headed inside and took our seats. We took out the things we needed for the class and continued to chat while waiting for the teacher to arrive. We talked about our expectations in the upcoming Sports Events.

A few minutes later the bell rang and we started the lesson.

"Hello, good morning class! Starting today we will start doing creative writing…"our English said.

 'Yes!' I screamed in my head. I just love creative writing. Being able to write whatever you want to write.

After English, we had Maths so I didn't get to see Misha until break time.

"So… how was Maths?" Misha asked as we were eating our snacks.

"Okay, I guess…" I said, taking a sip from my drink bottle, "We're learning trigonometry at the moment so…"

"Oof-" Misha said as she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, "I don't like trigonometry, there's just a lot to remember."

"Haha, yeah…" I said as I put my water bottle back in my bag, "Anyways, what subject do we have next?"

"Hmmm… Let me check." Misha said as she took her phone out of her pocket, "I have Dance and then Science."

"Oof, that means we don't see each other until lunchtime." I said as I started to put my things away in my bag.

"Yeah…" Misha said as she, too, started to pack up, "See you at practice?"

"Yep yep." I said as the bell started to ring.

"Well then, see you in a bit." Misha said as we stood up and started walking.

"See you!" I said as we headed to our classes.

I was in Art, finishing off my painting while I waited for the lunchtime bell to ring. I looked at the clock on the wall and saw that there was still another twelve minutes till the bell rang. "Sigh… " I sighed as I painted the finishing touches to my painting.

I stood up and put my painting on the drying rack and then I went over to the sink and washed my brushes off. I put my apron away on the hooks and headed back to my table. '7 minutes' I thought as I looked at the wall clock again. I took my phone out and read an online book to kill time. Just as I finished reading the chapter, the lunch bell rang. 'Finally!' I thought as I picked up my bag, thanked my teacher and left the class.

As I headed to the school gym, I texted Misha, asking her where she was. She replied saying that she was just getting changed and that she'll meet me in the gym. I put my phone away as I entered the gym. I looked around, looking for Misha. Just as I was scanning the left side of the gym I saw someone familiar. Yuri. I saw Yuri with Alexa, Aubriana and Mary, sitting and chatting on the bleachers. Yuri saw me and I flashed a smile but she just looked away. 'Maybe she didn't see me.' I thought as I took a seat on the bleachers opposite to where Yuri and the others were.

I put my bag beside me and looked around for Misha. My phone buzzed in my pocket. I took it out and saw that Misha had texted me saying that she was on her way. I sent an 'okay, see you later' and put my phone back in my pocket. Just as I looked up, I saw Misha coming through the doors. She saw me and came towards me.

"Heya!" Misha said as she made her way up the bleachers to sit next to me.

"Hey!" I said as Misha sat down and placed her things beside her.

"How long were you here?"

"Not too long, maybe a few minutes." I said just as a whistle was blown.

"All cheerleaders, please assemble!!!" a booming voice echoed in the gym.

"Well, be ready to be amazed…" Misha said as she tied her hair up.

"Show me what you've got." I said as Misha stood up and joined the other girls.

"He's different than what I expected" is the first thought that pops into my mind as I look at the scrawny kid in front of me. His hair is dark brown, almost black, and his eyes are a deep green similar to wet moss. His professor proceeds to explain that he is an undergraduate student that is a great writer. But is unsure if he should pursue this job or another, more stable job. His concerns are valid. Anyone in this field, especially me, is worried about what their future will look like. Writing is a tough industry to be in. One minute your book could be a success, the next minute it is sold online for a quarter. And that is only if you pursue a writing career. 

If you are an editor, jobs can be hard to find. Yes, everyone wants to be published and there are thousands of people every day who bring in book proposals, but editors only see the books that make it, interns or other workers take care of reading the manuscripts while the editors help the authors get to the next stage of advertising the book and making it a success by offering revisions that authors may or may not take. It is especially hard because editors need to stay on top of the social world because interests and the way people advertise change in a flash. It can be really frustrating sometimes. 

Putting my hand out, I introduce myself to the boy. He takes it with a firm shake that surprised me from his small build. He seems shy, but he has a confident shake and that is important in this industry. If you are not confident in yourself, no one else will be confident in you. I learned this very quickly in my internship. 

After a little bit of push and pull, I find out that his name is Shane and he is only a freshman with parents who want him to do accounting even though he barely passed his math class in high school. 

As the conversation continues, he becomes more and more open with me and his sentences get longer and longer. It makes me proud and happy that he is slowly opening up to me. I want to be her mentor and his friend. I don't want this to be strictly business. I have enough of that in my life. Plus, this will be my first friend post-trauma. This is a significant point in my life and I need to take advantage of this opportunity.  

"How would you like to have lunch today? Do you have any classes?" 

"No, I finished earlier. I have short days on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays, but my Tuesdays and Thursdays are absolutely dreadful." 

"Get used to that. If you are a writing major or minor, the majority of the classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but as you get farther into your schooling, you will have Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays off."

He sits there silently for a moment or two, possibly contemplating what his future schedule is like. Remembering my earlier question, I redirect the conversation. 

"Would you like to have lunch today? You can ask me any questions that you would like and I will answer them the best that I can." 

"That would be great! Is there somewhere on or around campus we can go to? I don't have a car." 

"Of course! We can go to Starbucks and sit at one of the tables there. It shouldn't be too busy around this time." 

After saying goodbye to his professor, we walk over to Starbucks in friendly silence. It wasn't awkward, mostly because students were walking around here and there either talking to friends or on the phone.

I take Shane's order and tell him to find a table as I walk to the line. It's long as it usually is, but the workers are always quick to everyone's drinks out. A couple of minutes later, we are sitting across from each other at a small table in the corner. The volume is lower here, possibly because everyone sits in the middle, but it's nice. We can have a conversation without having to yell at each other. 

"Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?"

His question catches me slightly off guard, but I should have expected it. I mean, I am helping him choose whether writing is the career path that he wants to pursue. 

"Sure. Is there anything specific you want to know?" 

"No, not really. Maybe you can talk about how you first decided you wanted to write and what steps you took to get to where you are now." 

"Okay, let's see. I guess I can start from the beginning. Uh, I didn't have the best home life and I found that writing was something that always helped me calm down and cope. It still has the same effects today which is another reason I continued my writing career path. I find that inspiration is everywhere, even in places you don't expect, so as long as you know grammar skills and how to make characters rateable, you can write a story. 

"When I first started college, I really didn't know what I wanted to do. Similar to you, I was worried about the financial stability of having a writing career. It can be tricky, the market is always changing. And I needed money, I was on my own at that time and I had to take care of myself and some way to pay my tuition so my loans weren't as high as they would have been. I found a couple of apps where you could write and get paid. It wasn't much, but when I found out that people actually liked what I wrote, I became more motivated to get my words out there. 
"A couple of years later I was about to graduate with a bachelor's degree in writing. At this point, I had no idea what I could do with this degree or if I wanted to continue schooling. I looked up a few programs at colleges and decided to go to graduate school. I wanted a master's degree, at least, this way I could teach a writing course in high school if I could not find a job for a publishing house and I didn't have any ideas for a novel. 

"And then, last spring, I graduated with my master's degree and I work at a publishing house, not far from here, as an editor. But, I should back up a bit. When you are in graduate school, the program typically has a mandatory course where you have to intern at a location that you might be interested in working with after you graduate. I chose the publishing house I currently work at and interned there for the two years that it took to get my master's degree. After I graduated, they kept me on the team because they liked my work ethic, and I was friendly with the head of the editing department. It really helps to network no matter what field you are going into. 

"I think, if you really want to know whether writing is for you, you should give it a shot. I can mention your name to my boss and he may not be able to give you the job I had because you don't have a degree, but you can start as a lower-level employee and then work your way up."
He sits in his seat silently for a minute, absorbing all the information while he takes a couple of sips of his coffee. I don't blame him. I could have given him the condensed version of how I decided to be an editor.

"Wow. I feel like you. I have always used writing as a way out. I like being able to create my own world with it's own drama or-or a story with a happy ending that I can look forward to giving th charayeriers. It gives me hope that even if my life isn't going great at this moment, at least I can write about how I would like my life to be."

It is in this moment that I am more grateful than I could ever express for being introduced to Shane. He understands the need to write and how it provides an escape, a way out of reality and into a new world that we can mold anyway we want to. For us, it is another, happier, life. 

"It is great to have someone who understands the impact of writing. Just hearing you talk makes me certain that you should be a writer. Of course, discuss this with your parents, they can be tough, but I would use some of your electives to take a few writing courses, preferably creative writing, so you can see if this is the right fit for you."

"Thank you. I would like to try to get an internship at the place you work. Would you be able to give me someone's contact who I can call to set up an interview?" 

"Of course. When I go to work, I will ask my boss whose number to give to you. I am really glad that we were able to do this. Would you like to meet again sometime?"

"Yes, if I want to convince my parents to let me pursue this, I need to have all the facts."

"Great, let me know when you want to meet again. You have my number, just call or text me and we will set something up." 

"Thanks again, Rose. I will see you soon." 

"See you then." 

He leaves the table taking his coffee with him. I am glad we were able to do this. I think this is definitely going to help me, and in the process, help him as well.

Hello everyone!! I am back and I know I was gone for like three weeks and I apologise. However, I have some sad news. I will be taking a break from writing. Yes I am ok. Nothing bad bad happened. I'm just really behind in my online classes and I need to catch up. And I will bf taking a break so I can focus all of my attention onto my schoolwork. I hope you can understand this. I am REALLY sorry and I don't wanna do this at ALL. But I don't really have a choice. I don't know when I'll start writing again but I will try not to make the break too long. I won't be dropping this novel or any other so don't worry about that. I am ok as well. I've just been really stressed lately. As I was well-read in Hindi, English and other subjects (although, by myself), the little angel's mother told me about the lady under whom she worked as a maid. She said that the lady was a gold mine of kindness, especially towards the poor yet capable people like me.

She literally was a gold mine. Her face glowed immensely. She became my inspiration when she told me her own story of rising above all odds by herself. She belonged to a Dalit community and thus has to cover much more vulgar and hopeless journey. Being a Dalit woman, who have gone through child abuse, ****, widowhood, and discrimination daily-- she influenced me massively. The thing which I admired the most was her view of the world. She was a lady with a capability to bring peace on Planet Earth. But that can't be done alone probably.

As soon as she heard my story, she was encouraged enough to spend on my education. She wanted to make me better than who was I at that time; not as an educated girl, but as a human being who has awareness about everything. She wanted to make me capable enough to live freely, without depending upon anyone. For the next six months, I spent my time learning, both theoretically and practically. I made myself skilled in writing, keeping my speech raw and bold. My very first story was a short story, which made the "Goldsmith" comment, "Creative, simple, different---ah! A fresh voice! World's waiting for you, my girl! Keep improving!"

I gave her a pseudonym, "Goldsmith" as I never had enough guts to ask her name, although, I really wanted to. Nonetheless, I became totally involved with her in her regular activities. I used to make breakfast, lunch, and dinner for her. I also started to help her children in their homework by the end of January 2018. She had twin daughters-- Niharika and Mehar. They both were in sixth. With a tongue filled with sugar pebbles, they both were very naughty yet with brains of a computer and heart of their mother. I became their governess later, after my delivery.

I never met that angel, who made me meet her mother. Probably, she went back in heavens, after guiding me out of the ocean. Her mother told me once that her daughter was not her own, but of her sister. Angel's mother was a kind woman. I met her daily as she was a respected maid of the house. Her mother's name was Sheela too as of my biological mother. Sheela aunty was the one who in the absence of the goldsmith took me to the hospital. As soon as a life peaked out of my womb, she took him in her hands. When I opened my eyes, she swirled into thin air. I sat down and smiled. The nurse handed me, my baby. 

Next morning the goldsmith entered with her cheeks covered with waters. She took the baby in her hands and looked at me. She told me that now I have become ready for facing the world. From April 2018, I became the governess. Simultaneously, I started searching for houses. I had to shift by the end of the year. I also started scribbling a lot. I used to write poems, songs, shayri, proses, thoughts, stories of all kinds, and I tried writing, whatever I can out my interest and brain on; any genre, form, style, etc. I reached that point in my life already, where I started decoding my past.

My baby remained nameless till now. I never wanted to tell myself or the breathing life in my hands about that I made you. I wanted to make this baby into a capable individual, like the goldsmith made me. I started building up my contacts through online sources. Within a year, I had a clear understanding of my past and present. I also started to envision my future.

Although I called my baby peace, the kid was a disaster at nights. In the mornings, she made me happy, as she used to sleep all morning. I took tuitions in the evening of all classes. At nights I told my baby all kinds of stories, except the patriarchal nursery rhymes or tales. I told her the stories which would make her a being of strength, ethics, and grounded. I tried to instill in her compassion, courage, and spirit of never giving up. One night, I wrote a letter to her. It happened while I was scribbling down my thoughts in the diary.

I remained weak in my knowledge about the place where I live, which was the biggest hurdle in my progress towards becoming a capable, free, independent being. During the mid of 2018, I made up my mind to travel a certain number of places each day. Consequently, I started to struggle a lot, which was mostly deliberately. I used to carry my baby with me everywhere I go. I discovered a number of places, met a number of strangers, and also received a number of job opportunities. I used to meet my goldsmith every month and discussed everything that I saw, observed, and wrote with her.

I was enjoying my life immensely, until one day, I was hit by a bus on an empty road. My past haunted me as soon as my vision became blunt. I heard the gunfire in my head. My baby said goodbye to me as I laid down there, absorbed by the river flowing on the path towards heaven. I saw my baby swimming; I smiled.

In the year 2138 AD there was a term: DMMO-RPG. That word was an acronym for "Dive Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game". These games were played by connecting a dedicated console to the brain via a neuronal nano-interface — an intracerebral nanocomputer network, created from the fusion of cyber- and nanotechnology. These were games that allowed one to enter a virtual world and experience it as though it were real life. And among the myriad DMMO-RPGs that thronged the market, one of them stood head and shoulders above the others:
YGGDRASIL.
This game had been painstakingly developed and released twelve years ago, in 2126. Compared to other DMMO-RPGs of the time, YGGDRASIL's selling point was "player freedom". It had over two thousand basic and advanced job classes.
Every class had a maximum of fifteen levels, and so in order to reach the overall level cap of one hundred, one would need to take at least seven different classes. However, players could take as many classes as they wanted as long as they met each class's prerequisites. A player could even take a hundred classes at level one each, although that was very inefficient. As such, in this system, it was virtually impossible to make identical characters unless one was deliberately trying to do so.
In addition, one could use various creator tools (sold separately) to fully customize one's armor, weaponry, flavor text, appearance, and other cosmetic settings. A vast playing field awaited its players. There were nine worlds in total: Asgard, Alfheim, Vanaheim, Nidavellir, Midgard, Jotunheim, Niflheim, Helheim, and Muspelheim. It boasted a massive world, numerous classes, and freely customizable appearances. These features ignited the creative spirits of its Japanese players and sparked what would later be known as a stylistic revolution. So popular was it that whenever the word "DMMO-RPG" was mentioned in Japan, listeners would immediately think of YGGDRASIL.
Still, all these were things of the past now.
