+ From ancient Greek myths to Game of Thrones, the legend of the dragon is one of the most enduring and romanticized throughout history. It has been traced back as far as 4000 BC and exists in all parts of the world. In and around Europe dragons are viewed mostly as monsters of evil intent. In ancient Rome, the army used dragons as symbols of strength. During the Renaissance, fear of sea monsters kept sailors from venturing too far from known waters, and the edges of their maps would read "Here be dragons."


+ The etymology of the word dragon, which it says entered the English lexicon in around 1220 and was used in English versions of the Bible from the early 14th century. Dragon derives from Old French, the language used by nobles and law courts following the Norman conquest of 1066. This, in turn, stems from the Latin draconem or Draco meaning "big serpent," which was derived from ancient Greek δράκων (drakon).


+ In Greek mythology, the Hesperian Dragon named Ladon was a hundred-headed serpent that guarded the golden apples in the garden of the Hesperides. Historically, European dragons were viewed as being evil, jealous, and greedy hoarders of treasure. In the stories, they were generally treated as violent monsters who must be slain by heroes and saints. European dragons could have four legs, two legs, or none, and often had wings.


+ In Asia, and especially China, the view of these creatures was very different. Dragons were thought to live under the ocean in the winter, arising in the spring with a clap of thunder to bring the rain needed for their crops, according to the American Museum of Natural History. They breathed clouds and moved the seasons. The dragon was the symbol of the Chinese Emperor, and the Imperial throne was called the Dragon Throne. Known as the Dragon, the emperor ruled in harmony and brought peace and prosperity to all.


+ Chinese dragons are depicted as being more serpent-like, with long, snaking bodies and usually had four legs. They are generally seen as wingless. How people view them and what they believe about them varies widely, but the idea is too widespread not to think there are some common roots.


+ Ancient Origins discusses a number of potential roots. The first one is crocodiles. Saltwater and Nile crocodiles are the two largest living reptiles on earth today. Currently, saltwater crocodiles live in the eastern Indian Ocean region, and Nile crocs in the rivers, marshes, and lakes of Sub-Saharan Africa. But 1,000 years they had a much larger habitat range and could have been encountered by people living in Greece, Spain, and Southern Italy.

+ Dragons appear in the mythology of many ancient cultures but nowhere else in the world was the creature quite so revered as in China. There, in marked contrast to other world mythologies, the dragon was almost always seen in a positive light and particularly associated with life-giving rains and water sources. Considered the most auspicious year sign, worn on the robes of emperors, depicted in the most precious materials from gold jewelry to jade figurines, and with countless references in literature and the performing arts, the dragon was everywhere in ancient China and looms as large today in the Chinese psyche as ever.


+ One of the earliest creatures to appear in the tales and legends of ancient China, the dragon is most often depicted as a giant and lithe beast which dwells in either water sources or clouds.


+ The Chinese dragon is extraordinarily powerful, and when it flies, it is usually accompanied by lightning and thunder. When, by whom, and on what reality the dragon was first invented is not known, although some historians suggest a link with rainbows and a 'serpent of the sky' which is seen after rain showers or at waterfalls. Carved jade dragons have been excavated at sites of the Hongshan culture, which can be dated to 4500-3000 BCE, far before any written records of the creature appeared. The historian R. Dawson gives the following description of the Chinese dragon's physical attributes.


+ Alternative descriptions give similar attributes but sometimes with the body of a snake, the eyes of a rabbit, the belly of a frog, and the antlers of a deer. Other qualities of the dragon were that it could change its shape and size at will and disappear or reappear wherever it wished.


+ The Chinese scholar Wen Yiduo suggested that this fantastic collection of beastly parts was actually based on the political union of several different tribes, each with a different animal as their totem. The dragon was, therefore, a symbolic representation of the assimilation of these tribes into a single nation. An interesting hypothesis, it does not, however, explain the appearance of dragons long before any such political associations existed in early Chinese communities.


+ Despite the dragon's fearsome aspect it was not usually seen as the bad-intentioned monster that inhabits the myths of other cultures around the world where it is typically slain by a brave hero figure. Indeed, in China, the dragon was and is regarded as being a just and benevolent creature.


+ It is for this reason they became associated with rulership and especially the emperors of China who, in their capacity as the holders of the Mandate of Heaven and as God's representative on earth, must always rule in a just and impartial manner for the good of all their subjects.

  Accessing Myths Selecting Dragons And Dragon Kings In Ancient Mythology]


+ We encounter dragons in almost every ancient culture of the world. Dragons played an important role in the beliefs of our ancestors and these creatures were depicted in a variety of ways.


+ Dragons can be placed in two groups- East and West dragons, and they were regarded as either good or very fearsome and evil creatures. In ancient China, the dragon was a highly significant creature that became a symbol of the Emperor and his throne was sometimes called the Dragon Throne.  Ancient Chinese believed dragons were in control the weather and water. These creatures were said to be able to manipulate oceans, floods, tornadoes, and storms.


+ There are nine distinctive Chinese dragons and some of them are serpent-like creatures with large bodies and long heads. The dragon in China is believed to be a benign creature that is said to bring wisdom, power, and luck. They are famous for their goodness and to ward off evil, protect the innocent and bring safety to all. Tradition and celebration of New Year in China can be traced to a dragon named Nien (or "year").


+ Nien was a legendary wild beast that attacked people at the end of the old year. Villagers would use loud noises and bright lights to scare the creature away, a practice that slowly morphed into the Chinese New Year festivities. Today the dragon has its own year on the Chinese calendar. On the British Isles and in Scandinavia, dragons were often depicted as wingless creatures. In this part of the world, the dragon was depicted as a more malevolent creature that was very difficult to kill. The West dragon was wingless and lived in dark places or wells where he was guarding hoard treasures. Approaching the dragon was almost impossible because of its poisonous fire breath. Dragons in British and Scandinavian mythology often appear in stories when a prince tries to save a young maiden from being abducted by the fearsome animal. 


+ If he can slay the dragon, he can become the new King and win the girl as his bride.n ancient Chinese mythology we encounter five enormous dragon kings who were rainmakers and rulers of the waters. Four of them were stationed at the cardinal points and ruled the seas. Their chief had his abode in the middle. The five dragon kings were named Lung Wang. The dragon kings of China lived in crystal palaces under the sea. 


+It was believed these underwater dwellings were part of the mysterious Underworld that could only be reached through underground mountain caves and special secret entrances. When the Water Dragons rose to the surface the caused typhoons and when they flew through the air caused heavy raining and hurricanes. The Dragon Kings are among the deified forces of nature of the Taoist religion. A dragon's head was one of the most famous symbols of the Vikings. 


+The Viking dragon was in many ways a representation of the Midgard Serpent, a mythical sea creature who fought with the Norse god, Thor. The reason why Vikings built ships with huge dragonheads was that they wanted to appear as frightening as possible from a long distance. Vikings called their longships "Drakkar" or dragon ships and the dragon was a powerful and fearsome symbol of war.


+ Many have seen the Welsh flag features a red dragon and that the Prince of Wales uses rampant dragons on his banner. The old British word "draig," meant leader, and the word, "pen," meant head. The two words combined to form Pendragon or Pen Draig, a noble surname in early Britain as early as the fifth century. The dragon symbol continued to be used by the last native Welsh princes of Wales, Llewelyn ap Gruffydd, and Owain Glyndwr, during their struggles against English occupation in the 14th and 15th centuries.


+ The Pendragon name in Welsh literature includes Uther Pendragon, father of the legendary King Arthur.

Computer interpreting mythological creatures. After that creates or tells small stories on them. This is mostly for fun I hope you can forgive me I do not think this would be interesting to most people but please give it a try.

Three months had passed since Chen Fan had come back. 
Within this three month time, Chen Fan had spent most of his time on the Green Dragon Grand Array. Seeing the completion of the large scale dharma array was finally underway, Chen Fan let out a sigh of relief. As long as he had this Dharma Array, he could ward off any attack even if his enemy had modern weapons at their disposal.
The Green Dragon Grand Array was different than Zhou Daoji's Grand Array of Nine Dragons because it could be used multiple times. In addition, the energy inside of the Green Dragon Grand Array was much easier to control and had multiple functions. It could be used to gather spirit qi, confuse intruders, attack, and defend. Even modern artillery wouldn't be able to destroy the defense of the Green Dragon Grand Array.
After this array was finished, the Misty Mountain Array at Chu Zhou City would lose its function. Therefore, Chen Fan planned to get rid of the Misty Mountain Array and transfer the Array Spirit there into the Green Dragon Grand Array. Spirit creatures such as the Yin Snake were very hard to come by, and it would be the final touch that completed the Green Dragon Grand Array. 
"Boss, boss! I met a high school hot chick! She is supposed to be the class leader of her class and she has a lot of pretty friends. Do you want to join us at the bar tonight?" Qiu Yilun came up to Chen Fan and said with a lewd smile. 
"Bug off!" Chen Fan waved a hand and said: "I have a date with Xiao Qiong tonight."
"Tsk..tsk! Boss, you need a life. Xiao Qiong is nice and all, but you also need to appreciate other kinds of beauty in your life. It's good for your relationship as well." Qiu Yilun shook his head and lamented. "Ah-right, boss. Zhou Qinya seemed to have gotten back with her boyfriend. Lulu saw the two of them going out for dinner together in a Ferrari."
"I see." Chen Fan's eyes remain locked on his book. 
The night he was back from Hong Kong, Chen Fan erased the memories of the girls. His actions were backed by Qiu Yilun and Qi Wangsun 
"We are bros! I can keep a secret for you. However, we don't trust those three girls, they might spread rumors."
To believe a woman could keep a secret was like believing bears were not interested in honey.
In order to avoid his cover as a college student being blown, Chen Fan erased the three girl's memory using secret arts. Zhou Qinya and the other girl only remembered that they had been to Hong Kong but nothing about what had happened at the Cruise Ship.
"To be frank with you, boss, you shouldn't have erased Zhou Qinya's memory. She is nothing like Lulu nor Xiaojin. I don't think she would spill the beans but she might use your secret as leverage to make you sleep with her. A win-win situation! What a pity, she was one of the best in our Business School both in terms of looks and brains." Qiu Yilun lamented. 
He still believed that Chen Fan needed to loosen up a bit.
Chen Fan cracked a smile. If his identity was made public, there would be countless pretty birds flocking to him. The greatest idol of all girls in China became an idol only because he was the son of the richest man in China, however, even now, Chen Fan already had enough wealth to claim the title as the richest man in the world.
Jiang Bei, Zheng family, Medicine God Valley Sect, Lu family and Kunloon, all of these subjects of his owned over a few dozen billion at least. 
"Ah, right. Have you noticed that something is off about Senior Brother?" Qiu Yilun asked abruptly.
Chen Fan furrowed brows and put down the book.
He, too, had found Qi Wangsun was acting strangely recently. For example, he was gone early in the morning and wouldn't return to the dorm until very late in the night. Even when he made a phone call, he would find a quiet place to talk. Despite that, Chen Fan could still hear clearly of his conversation. Chen Fan respected his roommate's privacy, so he often blocked his room mate's private conversation. 
Chen Fan rubbed his chin as he recalled what had happened in his past life. 
"Could it be that the Qi Family is here?"
Qi Wangsun always kept things to himself, and he was like that in Chen Fan's past life as well. All Chen Fan knew about him was that he was from a prestigious family in Northern China and Qi Wangsun also had a fiance. He had come to this southern university just to avoid seeing the fiance that he never liked. After he graduated from Jin City University, he went overseas to continue his education.

The restaurant was filled with attractive maids wearing kimonos. The large V-neck exposed their neck caked with white power. They wore their hair up with an intricate braids decorated with glittering headdress. Their asses swayed sultrily with every step they took. Each one of them was carrying a tray full of Sake, Sushi, Sashimi and other expensive food. 
"Young Master, all these maids are hand-picked by me from Japan. They all have just graduated from high school and most of them are still virgins. would you like me to prepare one for you tonight?"
Inside of a plain but elegantly decorated room, a bald brawny man sat on his legs. His arm was inked with a menacing dragon, it's withering body contrasted a large scar that ran across his bald head. His body was encased in a black suit and his burgeoning muscles had stretched the suit so much that it was about to rip at the seams. He was at least two meters tall and even when he was sitting down, he was about the same height as an ordinary Chinese person.
Across from him sat a young scrawny man. He wore a pair of round glasses. His face was thin and had a pointy chin. He was Chen Fan's roommate, Qi Wangsun.
Qi Wangsun looked nothing like a wimpy college student. His kept his back straight, and eyes sharp, looking like a powerful boss. 
The brawny man lowered his head and regarded Qi Wangsun respectfully.
He knew that the young man sitting before him was his boss's son, the heir to an incredible heirloom.
"No need, even if I want to have some fun tonight, I would find a virgin from Tokyo University who had a decent upbringing." Qi Wangsun sipped the sake and said lightly.
"Why of course! You are the heir of the Dong Sheng Group. You could have a descendant of the Japanese Royal family, much less a college girl from Tokyo University." The bald man said with a smile. 
Tokyo University was one of the most prestigious universities in Japan. Most of the high-level government officials had graduated from this university. It ranked much higher than the Huaqin University of China globally. Being admitted to Tokyo University meant a bright future in Japan. 
"Let's get to the point, what do you need from me? I don't want anything to do with the mess in the Yellow Sea."
Qi Wangsun put down his wine cup and asked with furrowed brows. 
This brawny man was one of his father's most trusted assistants. He had contributed a lot to his father's success and therefore was awarded heavily as well. Seeing him in front of him gave Qi Wangsun a sense of foreboding. 
"Your father and mother tasked me to accompany you while you study here in Jin City." The brawny man said with a smile.
"has anything happened at home?" Qi Wangsu knotted his brows tighter and gave the brawny man a sharp glare.
"Ermmmm… Ermmmm" The brawny man was terrible at lying. He was taken aback by the question at first and then a wry smile broke slowly broke over his face. "Young Lord, please stop pressing me for more answers. I … can't…."
"Anything happen to my father?" Qi Wangsun pressed on.
"Dong Sheng Group and Fu Hai Group had a… run in.. on the sea. Your old man is concerned about your safety, so he sent me to protect you." The brawny man said under his breath.
"Fu Hai Group?"
Qi Wangsun snorted. 
Both Dong Sheng Group and Fu Hai Group were reputable companies in Northern China. Although both companies were privately owned, their influence touched every facet of international trade logistics and beyond. They were involved in business such as trading ports, international shipping, seafood, real estate, international trade, warehouse, etc… The Yuan Yang Group at Tian He was peanuts compared to these two.
Ever since Qi Wangsun was a child, the Dong Shen and Fu Hai were at each other's throats, competing for the dominance of trading routes to Japan. 
"Fu Hai seemed to have gained the backing of a very high profile person in Northeastern China. Therefore, they are acting up lately. Your old man wants me to ask you… if you could marry the daughter of our family ally in Japan?" The brawny man asked cautiously.
"No."
Qi Wangsun suddenly rose to his feet knocking the wooden tray and drinks onto the floor. 
His face was flushed red and he shouted: "I will never marry that woman! If Qi Dongsheng wants to expand his business in Japan, I suggest he marry her himself."
After having said that, Qi Wangsun pushed open the wooden door and barged out.
The brawny man sat awkwardly in the room by himself. After a while, the brawny man heaved a sigh and lamented disheartened.
"Young Lord… The old man is on his last leg now."
"We have lost a dozen of our men in the conflict and worse, their benefactors at Northeastern China are already on the move."
The thought of that man who had claimed the seat of power in Northeastern China that bordered Russia gave the brawny man a shiver.

He had never thought that even in Jin City he couldn't hide from that woman. The thought of that cold and stuck up b with an itch gave Qi Wangsun the jitters. He knew the vicious methods behind that seemingly innocent look, if she was not as conniving and ruthless as she was, she would never become the family lord of the Yukishiro family at the age of eighteen. She had the entire wealth of Kyushu in her disposal and was a CEO of the Sumii Group. 
If he married her, he would have sent himself into the blows of a vicious beast
Seeing Qi Wangsun's reluctance, everyone stopped pressing him for more answers. 
Chen Fan patted him on his shoulder and said: "If you are really in trouble, use my name, it might help."

In order to deal with the college entrance examinations, Ling Yun studied geography comprehensively.

West of the Yan Mountain range was the boundless Yin Mountain range. In the eyes of ordinary people, these mountain ranges were merely lofty and arduous. In the eyes of Ling Yun, they were, however, many dragon meridians! 
True dragon meridians!
Ling Yun would never believe it if someone claimed that there was no treasure here. Don't forget that he still had "The Book of Burial Rites" and "Tomb of Tombs" that Granny Li gave him! 
As of now, Ling Yun had managed to find time to grasp most of the traditional Chinese characters. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing shouldn't be a problem for him, which was why he had already finished reading "The Book of Burial Rites" and "Tomb of Tombs". He was thoroughly familiar with both books, and in "Tomb of Tombs", most of the major tombs were within the Yan Mountain range!

If Ling Yun chose not to drive and spent all his efforts on Qinggong, it would take a maximum of forty minutes. Regardless of what happened on both sides, he would be able to rush over promptly.

Ling Xiu suddenly smiled and rolled her eyes at Ling Yun before commenting, "Little rascal, this place is pretty decent in terms of location and traffic. If we drive over, it will only take slightly more than an hour…"
Ling Yun chuckled. "Big Sister is right, and I only picked this place because of how close it is to Beijing, the traffic, as well as its convenience…"
In front of Ling Zhen, Ling Yun was naturally not going to speak the truth about it. Therefore, he simply blurted out some nonsense that came to mind.
Ling Lie muttered to himself as he stared meaningfully at Ling Yun before saying, "Zhangjiakou City it is then… Good kid, you're really good at choosing a place. That place has always been a battleground for the military!" 
After saying that, Ling Lie glanced at everyone before asking Ling Yun, "Yun Er, do you have anything else for us?"
The old fella was going to chase people out. This was Ling Yun's first day back, so there were far too many things Ling Lie wanted to speak to Ling Yun about privately.
Ling Yun lowered his head in thought and only replied after a long while. He said, "Grandpa, I want to fork out money by myself to build another Ling Family villa at a location of my choice in Beijing."
