"Wasn't there an investigation into his disappearance?" Daniel asked.

Grant shrugged. "I don't know that much. I had heard that Mr Emberry did make an effort to find him and suddenly gave up."

Daniel filed that away to add to the list of suspicious circumstances surrounding the missing student. Perhaps there was someone behind it who was more powerful than his parents and had quashed the investigation. Money and power often equaled corrupted investigations.

The idea of approaching the Emberry couple didn't seem wise. How was he supposed to preface any questions? 'I want to investigate the disappearance of your son' did not seem like a good conversation opener. Even Felix would have trouble terming that. The couple also looked like they'd had enough of everything.

He would have to find out more through other methods. He turned back to find that Felix was now asking Grant questions.

"Do you know his name?"

Grant looked annoyed at being interrupted again. "I don't know. The Emberries don't socialise enough for anyone to know too much. Gossip is all there is."

The lack of information surrounding the missing student did tie in with the destruction of the yearbook. It did seem like there really was a connection between the missing Emberry child and the missing student at the international school. He was unwilling to tie the two together as being the same person at this stage in case it was two separate cases. There was still a chance the two weren't related.

"Should we ask someone else now?" he whispered to Felix.

Daniel approached another familiar person, this time it was the one in his History class. He was currently ducked behind a large display of flowers to hide that he was texting on his phone. Clearly he wasn't enjoying the social function. If Daniel remembered correctly he was called Willum and was the laziest student in the class.

The conversation started off casually enough until Daniel started with his planned questions. He wanted to know people's opinions of the school management. Unlike at Kingston Royal Academy where the staff hadn't known a thing, this mystery only made sense if there at least one member of staff involved.

"In your opinion how corrupt is the school board?"

Willum was unconcerned by the change in topic.

"Aren't most privately funded schools a bit corrupt? Our school is no different. Most of us are connected to family businesses in some way. The original school building was something to do with the pharmaceutical drug company the headmaster owned. Then he decided he wanted to run a school and now our school exists. The place is strange," he narrated in a blasé manner.

"With that attitude you don't sound like you want to take over your family's business," Daniel commented dryly.

"Fuck no," Willum laughed. "I'm going to take great enjoyment in turning it down when my parents retire."

"So the missing student who was a member of the Mystery Club could be the missing son of the Emberries," Daniel summarised later on.

They were currently in his bedroom discussing everything they had found out. Daniel was still finding it strange that he could discuss things like this with someone else.

"It's a shame we don't know his first name," Felix said with a sigh. "It would really help us."

"Genealogy websites used to be useful for moments like this," Daniel replied. "You could type in the names you'd found out and see what children they had. Or if you had one name you could see who they had married and go on from there. Data protection ruined that."

There was a moment of silence before Felix answered.

"You're very knowledgeable," he commented casually. "I knew you loved mysteries from all those books you read and everything at Kingston Royal Academy…"

It appeared that he had slipped up a little by showing too much mystery solving knowledge for a 17 year old. Daniel was annoyed at himself. Felix was highly observant and he couldn't afford to make any more slip ups. Then again who could guess that rebirth was possible?

"My mother used to be really into snooping into other families and would look up if people she went to school with had married well," he answered in a manner he hoped sounded natural.

"Ah, I understand," Felix replied. "My mother isn't anything like that."

The moment of awkwardness passed quickly and they ended up discussing the other members of the Mystery Club. The actual mystery was momentarily forgotten until Daniel felt his phone buzz.

"It's Annabelle," he said after checking the caller information.

"You mean your fellow mystery novel reader," Felix said and sat back on the bed. "Pretend I'm not here whilst you have endless debates about mystery qualities and good writing."

Daniel poked him in the arm and sat back next to him. When he'd finished at Kingston Royal Academy he and Annabelle had started trading mystery books and having long discussions about them.

"Hello," he said. "What's the weather like there?"

"Grey and dull," Annabelle said. "It's evening there isn't it? How was your first day?"

"Felix and I joined a mystery club," Daniel told her immediately.

Annabelle squealed. "I'm so jealous. There's nothing like that here. Are the mysteries good?"

Daniel shot Felix a questioning glance. He wasn't sure if Felix would want Annabelle to be included in the mystery solving. Felix nodded.

"Well there is something strange going on…"

It took only five minutes to explain it all to her as they didn't really know much yet.

"There was a missing student six years ago and the Emberry child went missing at the same time. It does fit…" she summed up neatly. "However, you two have barely found anything."

Felix pouted. 

"We've found out a lot in the course of a day," he complained. "We're doing well."

Annabelle giggled. "I'm not dissing your skills, Felix. I have some suggestions if you would like to hear them."

Daniel guessed that they were going to be roughly the same as his and was pleasantly surprised that they were a little different.

"You can search the name Emberry on social networking sites and look for anyone male that is British and/or is located in Japan. You can ask students at your school who are old enough so that would be final year students. I can ask people here about the Emberries as well."

Daniel hadn't considered the social networking angle due to his low opinion of them. There could be something in that.

"Amien knows something…" Felix said. "We do need to find other students who were there at the time which could be difficult because it's an international school so everyone moves around."

"This is going to be difficult," Daniel agreed. "At least I've got you to help."

"I'm going to hang up now before you get amourous," Annabelle said hastily and ended the call.

Felix smiled widely and took the phone off him. 

"Let's talk about it tomorrow instead."

Daniel let Felix pull him in for a kiss. Mysteries were nice, but so was spending time with your boyfriend.

Daniel thinks he has it hard going through school again at a snobby all boys academy in the middle of nowhere.

Instead his first day ends with his roommate bleeding out into the snow right in front of him.

His boring second life just got interesting and dangerous.

Even if it was something worth mentioning for the rest of his life, a wizard who did something memorable would only keep it in a corner of his memory instead of using it as a constant chat-topic. 
During their talk, Angor learned something about what happened when he was out cold, such as the last item on the auction.
"Twilight Auction received a Mystery Item and put it up as the final?" Angor imagined what miracle he missed out after hearing Dave's explanation.
The word "Mystery" was something to help wizards seek the unknown and pursue truth. The word alone already meant something extremely valuable in the world of wizards.
And Angor, as an alchemist, certainly wished to witness something that only existed in legends.
"I wonder what it looked like… What's the difference between Mystery Items and alchemy ones?"
"I only heard that they use a completely different set of rules in this world," Prome said, "I've never seen one up close, though."
The books Angor found in Nightmare Realm did not contain much information about Mystery Items either. He only knew that being "Mystery" did not mean superior. Actually, in the right conditions, many mid or low-tiered alchemy products could be more useful than Mystery Items.
Still, Mystery Items possessed way more value.
It was like using someone in a battle arena. An ordinary peasant fighter might defeat the king of a country, but that did not mean the peasant was superior to the king. The king held much more assets on a whole other level.
Most Mystery Items could not be explained using the level system of alchemy.
"I didn't get to watch the final auction… pity," Angor sighed.
"Go ask your professor then," Dave said. He then added, "Did I forget to tell you? The Cursing Puppet went to Mister Sunders in the end. I think your professor's pretty nice to you, so he might not turn you down."
"Wait. My professor bought the Cursing Puppet?"

It reminded Angor of a story he read before. 
"I saw a book in my professor's library called Wonderful Worlds, written by Great Wizard Fein Werder. The book mostly popularizes knowledge of different planes. One of the stories mentioned a strange item, similar to what we're talking about.
"Inside a plane dominated by an ocean that had rainbow-colored sea waves, Fein Werder discovered a silver fish…"
Angor continued. 
The fish was only as big as someone's hand. Fein Werder was interested in them because he accidentally discovered the fish's tribe. Yes, tribe.
After observing them for two months, Werder noticed that the silver fishes had developed basic intelligence. They gathered in the same manner of ancient tribes and fended off predators together. They built their own habitat and established a primitive form of society.
Such primitive tribes were commonly found in many planes, so Fein Werder did not linger there. About a hundred years later when he visited the ocean plane again, he remembered the small fish tribe and decided to take another peek.
The century did not help the silver fish tribe to develop complete civilization, and what he saw was almost identical to a hundred years ago. However, Fein Werder noticed something new. The milters, otherwise known as the male fish, tended to build a "room" as its mating spot by using whatever it could salvage from the environment, such as sand, seashells, corals, and seaweed.
Fein Werder called this spot the "Breeding Room".
If a hen, the female fish, was interested in a room, it would enter the room and wait for her pair to "do its job".
Different milters built rooms of different styles. Some used whole shells, some used hard dirt, some dug places inside corals… Fein Werder found it pretty interesting, so he stayed for a few more years to observe how the small silver fishes gave birth to their next generation.
In the second year, he saw a silver fish who had black spots on its body built a delicate breeding room inside a rotten plank from shipwrecks. However, no hens came.
In the third year, the "black spot" did the same trick by making a rotten wood piece into his breeding room. Even Fein Werder was impressed by the stable triangle design which could support two mating lovers no matter how "violent" they moved. 
Yet no hens joined.
The fourth year, the fifth… The black spot failed to attract a "she" again in the eighth year, and Fein Werder was getting a bit worried about the small bachelor.
The usual life expectancy of a silver fish was about ten years, which meant this one did not have many chances left.
During the eighth year, the black-spotted fish constructed a miniature and adorable room just like how humans did. Fein Werder could not help approving the genius' work. At this rate, it was very likely that this one silver fish would bring civilization to the tribe.
Regretfully speaking, such a finely-crafted room still had no visitors.
In the ninth year, Fein Werder began to understand that it was not the room that discouraged potential mates. It was because… the "black spot" looked unsightly among its folks.
Fein Werder realized that female silver fish regarded someone's look as important as the room. 
He silently mourned for the misfortune of the little fish.
In the ninth year, using rotten wood again, the black spot created something yet more complex. It was a fortress, a castle with multiple levels.
It did attract hens this time. However, each time a hen entered the "castle", the black spot would immediately slaughter it with a weapon.
This time, the black spot managed to draw 39 hens to its home. He killed them all and used their blood to bath the castle in red.
"A fish left single for too long had gone insane…" Fein Werder commented.
The black spot did not get to meet its natural death. The "chieftain" of the tribe ordered guards to siege the castle and executed the black spot in the end.
The story did not end here.
Rather, this was where Fein Werder's story actually started. As an observer, despite his sorrow when he witnessed the sad ending of the little bachelor, Werder never interfered with the tribe's business.
When it ended, Fein Werder prepared to leave this plane since there was no more to see. Before he could do so, however, he saw something strange. The "castle" built by the black-spotted fish had undergone amazing changes.
It turned into a Mystery Item without being affected by any external magic!
Fein Werder did not say what the item could be used for in his book. He, however, understood the great value possessed by such an item. Great excitement affected his neutral standing. The man thought he had discovered the right approach to create a Mystery Item.
He no longer saw himself as an observer. He turned into a merciless killer and began slaughtering the fish before using their blood to taint their "breeding rooms".
But he did not find another Mystery Item.
He did some more experiment on the bodies of the fish, which yielded nothing.
In the end, the silver fish tribe became extinct in his hands while he only obtained that one Mystery Item in the shape of a castle.
Previously, Angor only regarded the story as a "story". He did not believe someone would watch fish building houses for ten years.
But he found it similar when he heard about the poorly-made cloth doll.
Perhaps it was poorly made in the views of humans. To the fishes, however, the houses they built were great treasures.
With no particular process, the simple castle became a "Mystery Item".
A doll too simple to be a child's toy became a Mystery Item called the Cursing Puppet.
They had the same ring to them.
"Maybe the appearance of a Mystery Item is triggered by strong emotions or desire?" Prome offered an opinion after listening to Angor.
Angor shook his head. "I'm not sure. The story is not validated anyway. But I do know alchemists can create such items. I have no idea how though."
"Mortals-wait, even fishes can produce Mystery Items? Such… mystery." Dave was lost in thought. He then said, "Now I really want to know more about them. Maybe I can accidentally create one, and I'll be beyond rich!"
"Thirty years ago, the Floating Mech City sold a Mystery Item called 'Whelk of The Dreaming Coast'. It can put all non-lifeforms into dreams regardless of their levels. Due to such a useless effect, the item was only sold at ten thousand crystals. So don't get too worked up. Not every Mystery Item is valuable," Prome commented.
Put non-lifeforms into dreams?? Angor was surprised. Can randoms objects have dreams too?
"Practice what you learned. There are cases where a tiered alchemy item sold for more than seven million," said Prome as he patted Dave's shoulder.

"Lady Lydia, you mean? She is-"
Before Prome could say much else, a tiny head poked out from the corner of the stairway.
"Lady Lotus is now at Midnight Sovereign??"

A Brief Summary of the Profound Mysteries of the Seven Elemental Laws?

Linley’s greatest problem right now was that he didn’t know anything at all about many of the profound mysteries of the Elemental Laws. Although it was said that others weren’t capable of teaching him regarding the profound mysteries, and that he had to gain insights on his own, if he at least had some general guidance, his training path wouldn’t advance in a wrong direction.

“Bebe, let me look at that.” Linley said hurriedly and eagerly.

“I knew Boss would want this.” Bebe laughed, then tossed over the book.

Delia had fused with a divine spark, and so she didn’t need to gain insights into any profound mysteries. Naturally, she didn’t need to read this book either. As for Bebe…given his lazy nature, he didn’t have the mental energy or discipline. As soon as Bebe saw the book, though, he understood that his Boss would definitely love it.

Holding the book, Linley immediately began to flip through and read the ‘Compilation on the Elemental Laws of the Earth’.

The Laws of the Earth had in total six profound mysteries. These were the ‘Essence of the Earth’, ‘Strength’, ‘Worldwalking’, ‘Vitality’, ‘Gravitational Space’, and the ‘Throbbing Pulse of the World’. This book had some basic introductions regarding each of the six profound mysteries, as well as the powers they held.

It even contained some information about simple ways of using them.

“The Throbbing Pulse of the World should be used like this?” Linley read on, shaking his head. “The person who wrote this book clearly only knew just a tiny bit regarding the Throbbing Pulse of the World.”

As someone who had trained in the Throbbing Pulse of the World, Linley naturally could tell that the person who wrote this book either knew just very little, or was just trying to cover up how little he knew.

The so-called ‘usage methods’ were extremely simple and very weak ways of using the Laws.

Linley completely ignored this sort of information regarding how to apply the Laws. Linley cared more about the descriptions of the other profound mysteries of the Laws.

“So that’s the case!” Linley, seeing the description of the ‘Strength’ profound mystery, sighed in agreement. “Originally, I thought that the Laws of the Earth included a ‘Massive’ type profound mystery, but it seems that’s just one aspect of the ‘Strength’ profound mystery.”

The Profound Mysteries of Strength was the highest level physical attack type profound mystery of the Laws of the Earth, and it was very complicated.

While reading the book, Linley didn’t notice the passing of time.

“So that was the Worldwalking ability.” Linley sighed in praise. “Back in the past, the O’Brien Empire’s ‘Monolithic Sword Saint’, Haydson, had already just touched upon the edges of the profound mysteries of Worldwalking.”

In the past, with a single step, Haydson had been able to travel dozens of meters. Linley had been shocked greatly at the time.

Actually, this was the simplest usage of Worldwalking; it couldn’t even be described as having reached a ‘basic’ level of mastery.

Worldwalking allowed a person to completely fuse himself into the boundless earth elemental essence of the world. It wasn’t that Haydson had teleported; rather, he had merged himself into the earth elemental essence, and then moved through it to another location before reappearing.

Back then, Haydson had been too weak, and the amount of time he could remain merged with the earth elemental essence of the world was very short.

For a true expert, when the Worldwalking ability was used, one could completely disappear and remain merged with the earth elemental essence of the world for a long time.

After finishing reading regarding the six types of profound mysteries of the Laws of the Earth, Linley began to flip through the ‘Compilation on the Elemental Laws of the Wind.’

The Elemental Laws of the Wind had the most types of profound mysteries, nine in total. They were the ‘Essence of the Wind’, ‘Doppleganger’, ‘Sound Waves’, ‘Music’, ‘Windwalking’, ‘Spatial Wind’, ‘Dimensional’, ‘Fast’, and ‘Slow’; nine profound mysteries.

Although there were nine, when different experts used them, they would produce effects of different power.

In addition, all profound mysteries of the Elemental Laws were fusable. Any two of them could fuse. Any three of them could fuse…and different fusions would create different types of marvelous, powerful attacks.

“So that’s what the Spatial Wind is all about.” Linley’s eyes shone as he read.

“Dimensional. This is the most powerful physical attack type profound mystery of the Laws of the Wind.” Seeing the description of the ‘Dimensional’ profound mysteries, he couldn’t help but feel stunned.

A long time later…

“Huh?” Linley glanced at his surroundings, puzzled. “How come its dark now?”

“Boss. It’s night.” Bebe and Delia both began to laugh. “You’ve been reading for half a day.”

Linley raised his head, and saw that in the sky, there was indeed a sliver of a knife-thin Violet Moon.

“Haha…” Linley couldn’t help but begin to laugh as well. “This book really is good. Although reading it hasn’t helped me gain any insights at all into the Elemental Laws, at least its given me a general idea.” Linley understood that in the end, insights depended on one’s self.

“I can’t read it, I can’t keep reading it.” Linley said with a sigh. “I haven’t even completed mastering the profound mysteries of the Laws that I have currently gained insights into. I can’t be hasty.”

Actually, the profound mysteries of the Laws weren’t so simple.

Reading this was one thing, but if one truly wanted to attempt to gain insights in accordance with it, perhaps one would even be able to make any headway at all. For example, it might say that the ‘Worldwalker’ ability required one to become completely merged into the earth elemental essences of the world…but how would you do that? There was no way to use words to describe such a thing. This was a form of insight that one might have into the Laws!

The next morning, Linley’s team headed to Redbud Castle.

“Before heading to the Indigo Prefecture, we at least have to gain some basic information regarding the geography of the Infernal Realm. Only then will we be able to work out a pathway.” Linley currently only knew that the Infernal Realm had five enormous, virtually endless continents, as well as the Starmist Sea and the Chaotic Sea.

To get to the Indigo Prefecture of the Bloodridge Continent…

Linley only knew that they had to first leave the Redbud Continent, then pass through the vast Starmist Sea before finally reaching the shores of the Bloodridge Continent.

Within the main hall on the first floor of Redbud Castle, Linley’s group hadn’t noticed any book selling counters last time. They first went to ask some of the customer service representatives, from whom they learned that actually…Redbud Castle had items for sale in more places than just the counters.

There were some standalone rooms as well.

The books were placed in a standalone room at the sides of the main hall. Linley’s team went into the room. There were very few people who were here looking at books.

“So many books!” Bebe sighed in amazement as he looked at the books.

“Search carefully. Let’s find information regarding the geography of the entire Infernal Realm.” Linley said.

The three began to carefully search. There were quite a few books that described the geography of the Infernal Realm. Some focused on describing the Nightblaze Prefecture, while others described the massive Redbud Continent. But as for describing the entire Infernal Realm, Linley found only a single book, which was just a simple atlas-type book.

What Linley needed wasn’t just a map; it was something which would describe the threats and the risky areas of the Infernal Realm.

After all, the three of them weren’t all that powerful yet. If they were to fall into a dangerous area, it would be disastrous. It was best to learn of these things beforehand.

“Linley, Bebe, come over and take a look.” Delia called.

Linley and Bebe immediately walked over. Currently, Delia was holding a dark red book that was five or six centimeters thick. On the cover of the book were four words: “Infernal Realm, General Summary”. Bebe pursed his lips. “A thin book like that? This book that I have which only describes the Nightblaze Prefecture is as thick.”

How vast was the Infernal Realm?

To describe it in detail, even ten books wouldn’t be enough, much less one.

“A book of this thickness isn’t bad. Most likely, it won’t just be a simple map collection.” Linley laughed as he accepted the book.

Flipping through it, it was indeed much the same as Linley had imagined.

“This is pretty much it. Although the book doesn’t have many descriptions, at least it has a general introduction to general geography and environment of the five continents, two seas, and 108 prefectures of the Infernal Realm. It even describes each of the ten or so cities in each prefecture, as well as some dangerous areas and information about them.”

The Infernal Realm was simply too vast.

If it took two or three pages to discuss a prefecture, then the 108 prefectures combined would require nearly three hundred pages.

In addition, the pages of this book were quite long. It was an unusual book; even if it was burned or drenched, it wouldn’t be damaged. After all, this wasn’t that sort of frail material which existed in the material realm. However, every single page was only slightly thicker than the pages in the material realms.

And so, a fairly simple introduction to the Infernal Realm required a book that was five or six centimeters thick.

If it was the type which went into great detail, it would require several hundred books of the same thickness.

“How much is this” Linley glanced at the nearby, violet-robed attendant.

The attendant walked over and glanced at it, then laughed and said, “A hundred inkstones.”

Linley immediately handed over a hundred inkstones. To Linley’s team, currently in possession of over a hundred million inkstones, this was nothing. Only, Linley’s team also understood…that their networth actually wasn’t that much.

After all, a single Deathgod Golem was worth a hundred million.

Some higher level metallic lifeforms were also worth more than a hundred million, and it was normal for some of the nicer houses within the city to cost billions.

A hundred million?

Well, at least for an ordinary life, it was enough.

“Hey, why haven’t I found any books regarding descriptions of the profound mysteries of the Laws?” Linley asked the attendant.

“Those books are a bit more expensive. They are held within the second hall. Each of them cost several thousand inkstones, and the better ones cost more than ten thousand.” The attendant said. “And these types of basic, elementary books that only have common knowledge within are fairly cheap.”

They left Redbud Castle. Linley’s team selected a nearby restaurant. This time, Linley’s team selected dishes worth roughly a thousand inkstones; this could be considered a slight extravagance.

While they were in the restaurant, Linley continued to flip through the geography book.

“Linley, have you made up your mind regarding our path?” Delia asked.

Linley closed the book, then nodded slightly. “Bloodridge Continent. This is the easternmost continent of the entire Infernal Realm. Right now, we are in the Redbud Continent, which is in the north. To reach the Bloodridge Continent, we must first head to a port city in the Rainbow Prefecture. Of the ten cities of the Rainbow Prefecture, Bluemaple City is nearest to the Starmist Seas. We should head to Bluemaple City first!”

“According to what the books describe, there are quite a few groups that will go from Bluemaple City to the Bloodridge Continent.” Linley said. “Only, the distance from our Royalwing City of the Nightblaze Prefecture to the Bluemaple City of the Rainbow Prefecture is roughly four billion kilometers!”

It was common for prefectures to have a circumference of a billion kilometers.

For the distance from Royalwing City of the Nightblaze Prefecture to the ports of Bluemaple City of the Rainbow Prefecture was within his expectations.

“Four billion kilometers.” Bebe stared. “That’s way too far. It will take forever to get to Bluemaple City, and it will probably be very dangerous.”

Linley laughed. “What are you worried about? We don’t have to go alone. After eating, let’s head to the Fiend Castle. We’ll take on an escort mission from Royalwing City to Bluemaple City. Wouldn’t we then easily reach Bluemaple City?”

Generally speaking, escort missions would have quite a few Fiends.

If Linley’s team joined one, their journey would naturally be much safer. Even if they encountered any dangers, with an entire group of Fiends present, the situation would be much easier to deal with.

“Take on a mission? I haven’t ever taken on a formal mission before.” Bebe was somewhat excited.

“Sirs, the ‘Goldscale Silkthin Fish’ you ordered is ready.” A waiter carried over a platter that was gleaming with a golden light. This beautiful, gaudy delicacy was placed upon the table.

Linley laughed, “Bebe, stop thinking about the mission. First eat, then talk. You ordered this fish, and it cost three hundred inkstones. Let’s taste it. How is it?”

After eating, Linley’s group headed to the Fiend Castle. The receptionist at the main hall of the first floor, their old friend Yuna, knew why they had come. Laughing, she pointed at Linley. “Mission acceptances are on the next floor up. One Star Fiends to Three Star Fiends take missions at the second floor, while Four Star Fiends to Six Star Fiends take on missions on the third floor.”

The second floor of the Fiend Castle. The location for One Star Fiends to accept missions. A row of rooms. Linley’s group walked into one of them.

“Speak. What sort of mission do you want?” A youth who was seated in the meditative stance on the ground said calmly.

“Escort mission, from Royalwing City to Bluemaple City of the Rainbow Prefecture.” Linley said. “Ideally, a two star mission.” Linley’s group all consisted of One Star Fiends. They could at most take on two star missions. Upon completing a two star mission, they would naturally become Two Star Fiends.

The youth nodded slightly. After closing his eyes for a moment, he then waved his hand. A scroll appeared in his hands, which he flipped open and began to read. “Escort missions from Royalwing City to Bluemaple City of the Rainbow Prefecture. There’s ten in total, three of which are two star. Take a look.”

As he spoke, he handed the scroll to Linley.

After taking a quick look, Linley came to a decision. “The two star mission that begins in twenty days.” The reason why Linley selected this one was because there were many people who had already signed up to participate in this escort mission, including the recruiting of a hundred Two Star Fiends!

As he was about to leave, Lin Xuan's eyes rest on a black book,

the title written in small writing "Records of Wen Lu."

Briefly flipping through it, he quickly finds that it's not a true book,

but rather a travel journal of many different people, who wrote down their

experiences during their travels.

Seeing a few other similar books, Lin Xuan figures he might get some clues out of them and picks out two more titled, "Kyushu Wonders," and " Divine Spirit Kaidan."

Three books, being the max that low-level disciples can borrow, Lin Xuan goes through the procedures, and quickly heads home with the books, where he sits in his chair and begins studying.

As the sun floats across the sky, dyeing everything gold, Lin Xuan repositions to relieve his sore neck, and rubbed his dry eyes, he finally finished reading all three books.

The Journals described, many different places and treasures, however not a single one mentioned the blue lights.

The Three books also spoke of a lot of different stories, telling of powerful figures from the past , as well as the stories behind various treasures. For example, one story spoke of someone who was poisoned by a heavenly poison, but rather than dying like all the others before him, he ended up gaining benefits from it. The books of spoke of many different treasures, and told of the advantages and disadvantages of them, and went into great detail in that, but they also stated that in the end it all depends on the person's luck.

Lin Xuan however was not worried, because he remembered how Zhou Yan behaved, so he was sure it was a beneficial treasure. His real worry was that he would be unable to figure out how to use those blue lights, and unfortunately they were not mentioned in the three books.

It seems that he will have to rely on his own efforts...

Lin Xuan once again sat down cross-legged, and began trying various different methods, attempting to see if there are any changes. After half an hour, Lin Xuan finally decides o take a chance and begins to gather his spirit power directly onto the blue lights, to begin circulating the lights just like normal spiritual energy.

This process has its own risks, since the blue lights are still a mystery while being attached to his body, they may potentially cause great harm to him.

But nothing ventured nothing gained, if you want benefits, you must take risks, so after closely observing the blue lights throughout his attempts so far, Lin Xuan has decided this may be his only chance.

After a while, beads of sweat start emerging on his forehead, compared to circulating his spiritual power, circulating the blue lights is much more difficult, but Lin Xuan is no stranger to difficulties, and after a while, the blue lights finally gather together and begin to circulate.

White gas starts to emerge from Lin Xuan's head, it seems that trying to move the lights like spiritual power is very difficult and so the movements of the lights is very jerky, but otherwise he could sense no problems.

Still, he keeps trying…..

"Whats this?" Lin Xuan raises an eyebrow, and his calm face finally slips into a surprised expression, when the points of light flow into the meridians in his hands, they flow out through the palm of his hands, It seems that they don't behave like spirit power, rather than circling back into the dantian, they lights escape the body.

Although it was unexpected, Lin Xuan did not panic and stopped working, slowly opening his eyes, he sees the lights floating in front of his chest, looking the same as they did inside his dantian.

Lin Xuan touches the lights with his hand, but other than feeling a slight warmth nothing happens, and he is unable to re-absorb the them back into his body, and after a little while the lights begin to dim and eventually fade away entirely.

Sitting back down, Lin Xuan looks into his dantian, and finds the points of light in his dantian are still there, but they are now slightly smaller than they originally were.

Lying in bed, Lin Xuan begins to thinking that maybe he wasn't wrong, and that these lights are supposed to be cycled through his meridians just the same as spirit power, but he was still unable to figure out why there were pushed out of from his palms, it seems that he would need to investigate further.

After carefully going over the day's results, Lin Xuan starts to become sleepy, compared to his nine weeks training in the inner area, circulating the blue lights is much more exhausting, and at this rate Lin Xuan felt that he would be unable to keep up.

With the sun coming up, and the rooster's crows fading away, Lin Xuan wakes up refreshed. Rather than going to the pavilion as usual to cultivate, Lin Xuan sits cross-legged on his bed, feeling encouraged by the progress he made the previous night, he prepared to continue experimenting.

Once again Looking into his dantian, Lin Xuan reveals a subtle smile on his lips, as it is exactly as he suspected, the night before when he saw the lights shrink, Lin Xuan had guessed that since the lights had integrated into his body, there should be a method to restore them, otherwise it wouldn't be qualified to be called a treasure by Zhou Yan .Although it was a great risk to take after only a guess, but this morning's discovery, had proven him correct.

Even better than he expected, there were no specific conditions to restoring the lights, they were truly a part of his body, and like all other parts of the body, they recovered after a good rest.Now he wouldn't need to worry about using up the lights, and could fully focus on figuring out their use.

Elder Luo didn't seem to see the woman's horror. She walked to the woman's side and looked up and down at the woman's skinny bones, her eyes were as cold as examining a dead object, not a person.
"If it weren't for my witchcraft which has helped you maintain your beautiful face, you will be old and faint. This youth spell is a treasure that only my Sacred Maiden Tribe possesses. To have been used by an outsider like you, you really got a great bargain. It is only natural that you have to return the favour for my tribe." Elder Luo reached her hand out, smiling, as she forced open the trembling woman's mouth. With immense fear shining in the woman's eyes, the bottle of potion was poured into the woman's mouth….

Qingzhou Academy was home to the largest library collection in all of Qingzhou.
After the written exam, Ye Futian returned to his dorm to cultivate. Sometime in the afternoon, he arrived at the academy library alone.
He only had access to the first floor of the library. On this floor were books and scrolls containing the most basic of martial art exercises, battle strategies, and simple divination spells. These books were perfect for outer sect disciples in the Awakening Plane.
The second floor of the library was only accessible to official disciples and outer sect disciples who ranked during the Spring or Fall Quarter Examinations. It was every sorcerer's dream to be able to view all these powerful spell books. Feng Qingxue was one of those dreamers and therefore it was her goal to be ranked at the Fall Exam.
However, the second level of the library was not the reason why Ye Futian was here today. He had begun properly cultivating. Aside from the Freedom Meditation, he had not done any martial art exercises, nor had he practiced any spells. Tomorrow's exam might require him to participate in a battle. If he showed up tomorrow with mediocre fighting skills, it would be a huge embarrassment. He could not let that happen; after all, he had ranked first on the written exam. Many people were waiting for him to make a fool out of himself.
The library was split in half, with a martial arts section and a divination arts section. Ye Futian made his way toward the martial arts section.
The sixth level of Awakening was a point of division. Before the Invincible Plane, martial and divination art cultivators had essentially trained in the same way. The difference was that one used Worldly Essence to enhance the body in order to break through the different planes and the other used Elemental Spiritual Qi. The planes were all the same until the division of the Invincible Plane.
When martial art cultivators were able to understand the artistic conception of the exercises, they could break into the Mystery Plane. Sorcerers, however, had to seek out hidden Elemental Spiritual Qi using their abilities to perceive these energies. They had to create harmony between these new energies and the Spiritual Qi they had previously collected in the Collection Plane. Then, and only then, were sorcerers able to break past the Invincible Plane.
Therefore, Qingzhou Academy had a requirement to become an official disciple. If you could make it into the Mystery Plane before your eighteenth birthday, you had the advantage of joining the school of your choice. Or if you were like Yu Sheng, capable of cultivating in both martial and divination arts, you could pursue both.
Even though there weren't many people in the library, there was the still a fair amount of attention on Ye Futian. His results from the written exam put him in the spotlight but in conjunction with the smile he got from Hua Jieyu, the amount of attention this ex-loser got was through the roof.
Rumor had it that he was stuck on the Collection Plane, so why was he here picking out books on martial arts exercises? Everyone was asking themselves this question as they observed Ye Futian quietly.
They watched him as he wandered around the library, stopping here and there. It looked like he was trying to find some suitable cultivation exercises for himself.
A while later, Ye Futian stopped again. He flipped through the book in his hands with great concentration.
The Release of the Dragon Power, studied by warriors, it was an exercise of immense power. The body of the cultivator became like that of a dragon, uncontrollably powerful and fierce.
"The exercise may be harsh, but also powerful." Ye Futian was satisfied with what he had found.
"This is it." He closed the book and was ready to leave.

"No problem, it's perfect for you," said the observer, trying to hide their laughter.
Ye Futian could not be bothered. He turned to leave and a round of laughter and gossip ensued behind him.
"Did he come to the library just to put on a show for us?" people questioned his true intentions for coming to the library.
"What do you know, the Release of the Dragon Power is so domineering, fit for someone who ranked number 1 on the written test. Oh, how could I forget, that's Ye Futian!" said another person.
"That's right. First place really is different from the rest of us." The mocking comments and laughter came from behind Ye Futian. The Release of the Dragon Power was very well-known amongst the outer sect disciples. Indeed, it was a powerful exercise, but it required the cultivator to mimic the movements of a dragon, how could that be possible? There had been people who tried but none that had succeeded.
Since Ye Futian came all the way to the library just to take out the Release of the Dragon Power, it was only right to have a little fun.
Ye Futian did not care about what they said. He headed for the divination arts section of the library when he saw two figures headed in his direction, causing him to stop in his tracks.
After being scolded by her father, Feng Qingxue was in a sour mood. So, she decided to look around in the library to get her mind off of it. Plus, after the Fall Quarter hunting practice, she had officially stepped into the sixth level of Awakening, the Invincible Plane. She was finally ready to cultivate the divination arts properly, so it would be perfect for her to find something useful at the library. Feng Qingxue had not even thought about the possibility of running into Ye Futian here.
Her beautiful eyes shone bright, no longer avoiding Ye Futian. She looked right at him and said, "Are you here to pick out some exercise books?"
"Yeah," Ye Futian smiled and nodded lightly.
Feng Qingxue did not know what to say. The atmosphere had become awkward.
"Feng Qingxue, didn't you want to go look at the spell books?" Beside her, Murong Qing pulled Feng Qingxue into the divination arts section after glancing at Ye Futian.
Ye Futian walked in that direction as well. Seeing him in the same section of the library, Murong Qing furrowed her brows and whispered, "Feng Qingxue, I don't think he's given up on you."
Feng Qingxue froze. She then snuck a peek at Ye Futian, only to see him browsing through book labels.
"What a fake." Murong Qing could not help but call him out when she saw what Ye Futian was looking at. Even though he ranked first, it was just a written exam. What did he know about actual cultivation?
Even if he did cultivate, he should be in the martial arts section.
"Maybe he just wants to get an understanding of the divination arts," Feng Qingxue lowered her voice. Ye Futian's performance on the Fall Quarter Written Examinations had truly left an impression on her. To rank first on the written exam required a deep knowledge and understanding of every class in both arts.
"Martial Divination?" Murong Qing saw the book in Ye Futian's hands. Her sarcastic smile widened and unrelentingly opened her mouth, "If you're going to be a poser, can you try a little harder? You're not fooling anyone holding that baby book."
Everyone around heard her words and looked at Ye Futian. Most of them began to laugh when they realized what she said was true. He was, indeed, holding a book which contained the most basic of spells. Martial Divination were spells that you would only use to trick children.
Ye Futian closed the book and put it under his arms with the Release of the Dragon Power. He then turned to look at Murong Qing quizzically. "Do I even know you?" Ye Futian asked and walked away, not taking a second look at Murong Qing.
"You..." Murong Qing pointed her finger at Ye Futian's back, not knowing what to say, then she finally mustered, "Seems like you got quite cocky after ranking first on the written test. You even have the nerve to come to the library and try to look good in front of us while holding a book like Martial Divination. Forget the fact that you're a complete loser; even if you were a proper cultivator, a martial art cultivator like you would never be good enough for Feng Qingxue!"
Feng Qingxue was a sorcerer, as was Murong Qing. Sorcerers all think that they are better than martial art cultivators. After all, in some sense, all sorcerers had the innate ability to cultivate in martial arts. All they had to do was cultivate Elemental Spiritual Qi as they would Worldly Essence, but other than those who were truly gifted in cultivating both arts, no sorcerers would waste their time on martial art development.
Ye Futian did not want to be bothered with what she said, but nothing could stop Murong Qing as she went on, "Besides, you'll be back to where you started after tomorrow. First rank? What a joke. Once a loser, always a loser. I can't wait to see how you'll make a fool out of yourself tomorrow."
Ye Futian took his two books to be registered then left the library. Inside the library was overtaken by a wave of gossip. People mostly whispered about the two books he had taken out, the Release of the Dragon Power and Martial Divination. How ridiculous was that?
Feng Qingxue quietly listened on. She had nothing to say. Even though Ye Futian had smiled at her, she still felt an invisible line separating them. He did as she asked and kept his distance from her but Feng Qingxue did not know why there was discomfort in her heart.

"The Release of the Dragon Power and Martial Divination," Yu Sheng was surprised upon seeing the two books. He looked at Ye Futian. "Are you cultivating in both arts and starting with martial arts?"
"Yeah, Mandate Sorcerers are called sorcerers because we're innately gifted with the elements. However, Mandate Sorcerers are also extremely suited for the cultivation of the martial arts. Naturally, I can't put Heaven's gift to waste!" Ye Futian nodded and continued, "As for my reason for starting in the martial arts, that's because at my level the sorcery I can cultivate is still not powerful enough. It's all the basics. I can't unleash my full potential as a sorcerer yet."
"Then what about Martial Divination?" Yu Sheng was very curious.

"I'm going to cultivate," said Ye Futian. He then made his way to the designated cultivation area and flipped through the Release of the Dragon Power. Looking at the words and diagrams in the book, he closed his eyes. Seconds later, a rumbling noise began. He was surrounded by flashes of lightning, which intensified by the second.
The fearful lightning roamed across his body. Ye Futian observed the dragon in his mind as it roared and danced. Its aura was powerful.
In his body, the Thunder and Lightning Spiritual Qi slowly shaped itself until it was in the form of a dragon. It looked just like the dragon in his Life Palace, incredibly realistic.
Others who had tried to cultivate the Release of the Dragon Power failed to replicate the form of a dragon, but to Ye Futian, this was no problem at all.
Using the exercises from the book, the dragon formed by the thunder and lightning charged recklessly throughout his body. It passed through his nerves, organs, limbs, and bones. It was everywhere. Instantly, Ye Futian's face turned bright red, then white. It seemed like he was in great pain. A groan slipped out every now and then.
The Release of the Dragon Power was immensely powerful and took a huge toll on one's body. It was all to create the image of a dragon within one's self, allowing your own body to become like that of a dragon.
This one session went from day to night. When the sun rose the next day, a figure was dancing in the yard of the dorm. It was Ye Futian. He was still cultivating the tactics in the Release of the Dragon Power, his movements big and powerful. His surroundings were brightened with a curtain of light. Circling his body was a faintly formed dragon, at times it almost looked like a real dragon.
A loud roar sounded with a single punch from Ye Futian. It sounded like a dragon had broken free. Another loud noise sounded from a distance away; a wall had collapsed.
Someone ran onto the scene. It was Yu Sheng. Upon witnessing the crime scene, his eyes fell on Ye Futian.
"You've achieved the artistic conception of martial arts. You're in the Mystery Plane of martial art cultivation," stated Yu Sheng.
"The seventh plane of Awakening." Ye Futian smiled. "Looks like we'll have to get someone to fix that wall. Tell them you broke it while cultivating."
"You're throwing me under the bus?" Yu Sheng stared at him in disbelief.
"Of course!" Ye Futian laughed and headed back to his room. He was dripping with sweat and needed to shower in preparation for the beginning of today's Fall Quarter Examinations.

Liu Jingning's statement startled Xu Que and his companions, and their eyes widened in surprise.
"Little demoness, you know something terrible again. Why do you know everything?" Xu Que asked.
Liu Jingning had previously learned all about Guan Chuchu and Xuanyuan Qishang thanks to a secret scroll kept by the Utmost Happiness Faction. Moreover, Guan Chuchu had been a saint of the Utmost Happiness Faction and she was related to Liu Jingning. This was why it was normal for her to know about them.
But now, she unexpectedly knew about whoever was stranded underground. This was too amazing. She seemed too knowledgeable.

"Hee, hee. You don't even know about the college entrance exam. It's no wonder that you are so uncouth," Xu Que spoke insultingly and shook his head. "Just look at me and the little demoness. We have pretty faces and a classy style. It's all thanks to reading books frequently, while you..."
"I..." Duan Jiude opened his mouth to answer back, but then he lowered his head to observe his sloppy clothes and recalled his wretched appearance, and he was left at a loss for words.

"It's out of the question. Faction Leader, we must deal with this issue carefully," Mo Junchen opposed this matter right away.
He didn't believe that they should take risks for it. After all, they just needed a few Chiliad Gold Resurrection Vines, and they could take enough of it from the main root. This was why they didn't have to touch the main root.
If they released the great snake by mistake, then they wouldn't be the only people who would die, as the whole Heaven Continent would be doomed.
After all, that was a great snake that had devoured even Gods.
Xu Que stroked his chin and wore a pensive look.
After several seconds, it seemed as if he had recalled something, and his eyes lit up suddenly. "Well, hold on! It seems like I have a way to take care of this."
Xu Que stared at the cave mouth and strode forward with a smile. "I have a daring idea. Hee, hee, hee."
