She's been waiting for months at this point.

Even now, she's reading a newspaper, a habit she picked up the day after he left. She's looking at the international section of the paper, looking out for key words such as "captured" or "killed".

Aside from the new habit, she's been living life the same way she always has. She continues to work at her father's bakery. She's effectively taken his place at the shop, but also in the community as a whole.

Now she's the new savior of the community. After risking her life to stop an invasion, the townspeople herald her as they herald the dragonslayer. Even as she was in the hospital, they sang praises of her daily. She's deserving of it, but she's too occupied with her single worry to acknowledge it.

Today is a bit unusual for her, though. As she's been reading the newspaper during her break, she's been eyeing this wagon that came into town recently. It's a bulky thing, pulled by two horses. It's reminiscent of the wagon that took her beloved away.

The wagon is clearly distracting her. She reads one line of text, then she glances at the wagon. A line, a glance. A line, a glance. A line, a glance. A line--

She gets up.

She walks over to the wagon.

A short conversation about its goods and pricing is exchanged with the owner.

When she finds out that he's a traveling blacksmith, she gives a sarcastic remark.

And yet she still wants to buy a shortsword. Not something to fight with, but as decoration. Maybe even a gift.

The owner recommends that she take a look at his wares, bringing them out one-by-one.

So I, the apprentice, bring out a shortsword.

I hand it over and she studies it. However, the session only takes a few seconds.

She pauses.

She looks up and sees my goofy smile.

Her shaking hands drop the sword.

Tears well up in her eyes.

She covers her mouth.

I step down from the wagon and hug her.

She hugs me back.

"Edrick!"

"Wendy."

It was a mistake of mine to take the long route. I don't care where in the world I am, just as long as I'm with her.

"Every tactic has its own distinct feel to it as if a unique signature, and given time, one can always tell one tactic from another. For example, the Tactics of Vayu focused on offense; therefore, it feels more belligerent than any other tactics. The Tactics of the Enchantress, on the other hand, are elusive and unpredictable, while the bright flames of the Tactics of the Blaze of the House Lie are also unmistakable. Like I said before, only the Tactics of the Deva King from the House Dower would have the same level of depth that could conceal its unique signature as that used by Einherjar Wannabe. 
“That being said, I am confident that this Einherjar Wannabe did not use the Tactics of the Deva King. The Dower's tactics require perfect execution of even the smallest movements. However, this boy's footsteps were rather careless... I know it sounds crazy, but I felt like the tactics used by Einherjar Wannabe, whatever it is, seemed even to surpass the Tactics of the Deva King."
As the apprentice to the House Li, Ma Xiaoru was more qualified than anyone else to comment on the matter of tactics since she was trained to do so by experts. However, even Ma Xiaoru couldn't think of any tactics that would rival the prowess of that used by Einherjar Wannabe.
Many tactics might be able to yield the similar degree of intensity as that used by Einherjar Wannabe. However, no tactics — including the Tactics of the Enchantress that was praised for its elusiveness and deception — could have concealed its unique signature. The mysterious tactics had the all-encompass nature that made it feel like an agglomeration of many drastically different tactics. 
"I don't think he was as powerful as you think." Samantha sank her body back into the soft cushions and said, "He is not bad though, we should keep our eyes on him."
Ma Xiaoru smiled knowingly. The PA system was the main line of business of the DREAM corp., and despite the hefty profit margin, the government and the military had taken up a huge amount of resources at DREAM's expense, which had inevitably driven the cost of operation skyrocketing. In order to increase its revenue from the domestic market, DREAM and Samantha understood that they would need one or two superstars in the public leagues to drive up the sales, but all of their attempts so far had failed. DREAM was not the first one to seek a legend as epic as the Blade Warriors. Many before them had tried and had nothing to show for it in the end.
The origin of the Blade Warriors, the once living God, were the most mysterious riddle in the history of humankind. His influence was on par with the old gods such as Jesus and the Buddha as they were considered the new god of the interstellar age.
Many recent researchers had voiced their doubts about the feats purportedly accomplished by the Blade Warrior, just like the ancient scientists that had questioned Jesus's miracles. However, the abundance of evidence had quickly silenced them. The Blade Warrior was worshiped among all human races. Even the Kaedeians who used to be at odds with the Earthling had given up their arms due to their reverence toward the Blade Warrior. The fearsome female fighters of the Kaedeians had believed that the Blade Warrior was the only "God", the master of the universe. Their long-lasting reverence had continued even till present-day.
  
Wang Tong had enjoyed the fight as he had learned something new: the Butterfly Dash. He found out that while executing the Butterfly Dash, his GN nodes had moved differently than when he had attempted the Fist of the Racing Tiger. He conceded that he had made the right decision to not confined his matches with only the TPA fighters, what happened today had proven to him that regardless of IPA or TPA, a good fight would always be a good fight.
Wang Tong could not bear the loud cheers and scream of the audiences, so he didn't dawdle at the virtual cafe and left as soon as he had paid the terminal service fee.
While walking on the street, Wang Tong suddenly remembered that he had some shopping to do. Instead of going to a department store, the frugal student went to a squalid store and picked up a T-shirt on sale for only fifty credits.
Worried that Zhou Sisi might be waiting for him, Wang Tong darted home but right before he had arrived at his dorm, he remembered that he had forgotten to buy the bed sheet.
Wang Tong's jaw almost dropped as soon as he stepped into his dorm. Everything was neatly packed and arranged; the air in the room had a clean and fresh scent and a promise of comfortableness. "Is… this my room?" Wang Tong marveled, wondering if he had gone into someone else's room.
He then saw his bed, covered in a clean blue bed sheet; it was decorated with a blue kitty in the middle. Wang Tong thought that the bed sheet would definitely look cute and lovely in a girl's room.
Seeing Wang Tong standing at the door, Zhou Sisi asked, "Sifu, is everything the way you wanted?"
More than satisfied, Wang Tong smiled joyfully, "How much is the bed sheet?"
"It's nothing, think of it as a gift from your apprentice!" Zhou Sisi grinned slyly.
Wang Tong said nothing. He figured that Zhou Sisi was indeed indebted with him since he did not intend to teach her for free.
"Thank you! Well, I guess that I could teach you a thing or two that I have learned. But, it would be up to you to learn as much as you can. Another thing, our pact should remain a secret, so don't call me Sifu in front of everyone. Are we good?"
"You bet!" 
Wang Tong smiled warily. Although he was not sure what this relationship would develop into, he was relieved that he could finally say goodbye to boredom with this playful student by his side.
"Shall we celebrate?" Zhou Sisi exclaimed.
"Celebrate?"
"Yes, don't you want to? You really need to get out of this room and have some fun. Haven't you heard of 'study hard, party hard'? I can help you with your classes later as well. I assure you that my support would be as good as any top student."
Zhou Sisi was very confident with her understanding in all the subjects, plus, she wanted to challenge Ma Xiaoru and to prove that she could do as good a job as a spoiled princess.

The virtual cafes in all corners of Shangjin were packed with players who were waiting impatiently for the release of DREAM's official video analysis. They didn't have to wait long as DREAM had smelled profit in the air and therefore had cranked up their workload.
Although Solitary Snow had lost the fight, no one had understood how.
"Boss, the IM had reached 3500... it's close to the playoffs of official IPA tournament."

Everyone was pleasantly surprised since no one had thought that an ordinary fight could have attracted that much attention.
"Excellent, well done everyone!"
Cameron studied the IM chart. The line indicating the IM reading had risen steadily since the beginning of the fight and plateaued around 3500. Cameron and everyone in the office wagered that this would be the final rating of the match.
Cameron was pleased by the astonishing reading; he was confident that this fight would give his team more bargaining chip at the table negotiating with prospective show sponsors.
Suddenly, the line on the chart wiggled up and down, increasing its amplitude by the second, and in a blink of eyes, it raised again and breached the 3500 point threshold.
"Boss, it's 3600 now... Gosh! It went up so quickly!"
"Gee, this is unbelievable!"
Everyone in the office stood up in immense tension and bafflement. 
"3750!"
The chart seemed to slow down slightly, but before anyone had noticed it slowing down, it up-ticked again and reached 3800.
People in the control room looked at each other in disbelief. They knew that the reading of 3800 meant that it was as popular as a semi-final of an official tournament.

A few months went by in what seemed to be a blink of an eye. Kenshin barely registered them passing as the weather kept somewhat the same, although with a few minor alterations. His schedule changed drastically from what he'd started out with a few weeks back, and kept changing every week, there was so much to learn, so much to explore and discover. But, he kept to the instructions in the book series 'Practical theory of chakra', there was no need to reinvent the wheel, after all. Rather satisfied with his progress, Kenshin had gone about finding out just where in the timeline of Naruto he'd been dropped, a rather daunting task, if he'd say so himself. For although he'd watched some of the series, he was not exactly a fan of it and much of the episodes laid to this day unseen, he cursed himself every single day for not spending a few more hours of his life on television as a kid, and his parents just as much for their strict 'tv schedule. Scratching his leg where he laid reading a book, the sun being filtered by a large tree, the wind lacing through his hair gently was just the icing on the cake to make this moment one of the most cherished ones to date, even though the book in his hands had nothing to do with leisure reading. It seemed, somehow, that reading tomes of knowledge was his new way of leisure reading, somewhat giving him an identify complex. He figured it had something to do with having no internet, in his old life he'd look something up on wikipedia if he wondered about it, here, he had to either ask a busy teacher or read enough about the subject to somehow piece the puzzle together by his lonesome. Ooh, how he missed the convenience of modern technology, but at the same time he recognized how it limited him, gave him an excuse to be lazy when he shouldn't be.
'No matter' he thought while standing up, stretching and hearing his back pop into place. 'I've long since adapted to this lifestyle, and even though I am starting to get somewhat bored, there is really nothing to take my attention off of my goal' he thought with a smile on his face, seeing a buxumous female waking by, staring at her out of sheer habit he finished his thought-chain in an unexpected, but not unwelcome direction '... At least not yet, hue hue' 
Smiling to himself, imagining the direction his life would take in the future, he set of for the academy at a run, on the way there he remembers his age and sigh in annoyance at being woken up from his unintentional daydream. 'I've got a long way to go still' he considers, flipping down from a roof, his body having evolved enough to withstand such an impact by now. Nodding to himself and feeling decidedly awesome, he heads toward the academy gatees at a slow pace. He'd already 'finished' the theoretical aspect of the academy, they kept having to move him up in class every other week and decided to let him self-study somewhere along the line, saving themselves the hassle. Now he only had physical classes with his peers and although he weren't anything in particular when it came to sheer strength, nor speed, his stamina outstripped his peers by far already. He liked it this way, gave him an excuse to not graduate too early, something that would give him less time to work on his fundamentals and more serving a village he really had no kinship with. He knew it might be boring, but graduating and having access to better jutsu and more freedom didn't really change his fundamental strength. He thought while scoffing to himself, his expression then changed drastically 'In the first place, when did strength become what i sought to achieve? To the point of willingly giving up my own freedom to achieve it?' Relaxing his expression, he continued this train of thought 'I've never had a purpose before, it is.. Kind of nice' Smiling to himself, he stopped moving 'But, this presents a conundrum of me burning out somewhere along the line, i need to be free to pursue other activities when that day eventually comes' Nodding to himself, he decided to graduate within the year. 
At this time he'd already arrived within the academy, a small smile of resolution playing on his face. As he only needed to attend physical classes now, like taijutsu, jutsu, evasion, detection, trapmaking. Anything which had to do with muscle memory or strength in general. It stood to reason that this day were the same, but, not everything follows reason in this world, certainly not this assassination classroom. 
Standing at the front, portraying an eager expression while gossiping with Akira and Bakura about certain topics, like Hoshi's balding head, they snickers was heard through an otherwise noisy atmosphere. "Quiet down class!" a dissatisfied expression filled his face as his words were drowned by out by other noises and otherwise completely ignored "QUIET DOWN!" he shouted with a 'big head jutsu'. Yes, it turns out this jutsu weren't exclusive to Iruka, being invented by an annoyed genjutsu master some decades ago to keep the otherwise rowdy and unruly children in line. It worked exceptionally well - that was, until they noticed it were the only thing that worked after a while. Damage already done, they kept the act up until today, becoming a staple in the arsenal of every teacher in Konoha. 
Smiling in satisfaction, Hoshi did a head-count before starting the morning warm ups, that done, he adopted an unusually serious expression and the children, perceptive little fuckers as they are immediately picked up on it, mimicking him, it was rather cute.
"Students, you've done admirably so far, but, it's time for your first survival exercise" Murmur and mutterings spread through the crowd, earning another big head jutsu.
"If you've already heard, or knew about this, good!" Some students looked proud "But, shut up while I explain to the rest!" Proud faces turned constipated, earning a chuckle from both Kenshin and Hoshi, something the child-genius earned himself an extra glance for. 
"As second years you should have gained reasonable survival skills by now, so it's time for a midterm test to test your capabilities in practice - as well as giving you some well deserved experience." There were some cheers at the survival experience being phrased as a gift, instantly stifled by a sharp look from their teacher "You're that eager, eh? Let's see how long this energy carries over to the actual exercise" Earning some nervous chuckles from the soon to be miserable students. 
"Alright! Follow me!" Hoshi shouted then took of at an reasonable phase, reasonable for a ninja, the rest of the class scrambled to catch up, almost tripping over their short legs in the process. After a few minutes of travel they all arrived outside a large forest with crates of different objects. "Alright, you're all probably confused" the class' facial expressions were all the confirmation he needed before he continued his one sided conversation "You will take one of these talismans each" he says while pointing at an crate "This is an free-for-all, the goal is to gain as many talismans as you can manage, at any cost" His gaze travels through the student body, students who were already sizing eachother up, trying to find the weak link. "There are a few rules, however" the students tensed, drinking in the information delivered by their teacher. Hoshi takes a deep breath before holding up a finger "1. No killling - You are all future comrades in arms, there is no reason to go overboard. In fact, if there is any kills today I'll personally hunt the perpetrator down and kill him myself" He says with a glare giving no chance for any opposition, another finger goes up "The same goes for rule number two, no crippling injuries. You take an eye, you lose an eye" The students gulped at the harsh words and tone of their once energetic and bright teacher. "Rule number three -" he says in a fashion remiscient of the last two, stretching another finger towards the class. Kenshin sweatdropped at the serious atmosphere, not expecting this so early into his stay at the academy "No weapon used against your fellow classmates" he says while kicking the lid of a crate, revealing shiny black kunai. "Number 4 - Keep the talisman on you at all times. If you lose it we will know and you will be disqualified" 
Hoshi claps his hands together, "Alright! You're going to surivive in the forest for 48 hours, your parents have already been notified." Some children made faces of realization while patting their pouches "The top three in this test will have achieved part of the requirement for early graduation, along with getting some added benefits from us teachers - Like personal instructions or a jutsu outside the academy three" Excited muttering were heard and Hoshi seemed satisfied with the receptions. Kenshin felt cold at how easily these people pitted children against eachother in a mock battle, even with the securities taken along with some excitement at trying himself against others - No matter their age. When the noise mostly died down Hoshi went on to speak again "Any questions?" A bland child by the name of .. Kenshin was not sure, but he knew it started on Ryo.. raised his hand "Speak, Ryoumaru" The bland child, now named Ryoumaru spoke in an equally monotone voice "Are poisons considered weapons?" Hoshi put on an considering expression before deciding that "No, as long as they don't break the first two rules you're fine" He says with a glimmer in his eye. Ryomaru only nods in response. Kenshin felt sweat pour down his back in response to the innocent question, 'It's always the quiet ones' he thinks with a shudder, vowing to to underestimate a single classmate. As altough his ability for abstract thought might be higher, his experience were the same, if not lower than his classmates.
"Alright!" He claps his hands loudly "Any more questions?" meeting complete silence he proceeds "Good! Pick three kunai and a talisman, then stand in a line before the forest, spread yourself as wide as you want. Noone is allowed to attack anyone within the first 10 minutes." Kenshin went over to the crate of kunai, shaking his head when he noticed their bad condition and wondering if they can cut anything at all. Picking three modrately good ones anyways, and a few which could be considered scrap as extras. He had an distinct feeling that Hoshi was aware of him bending the rules a bit, but let it slide for some imperceptible reason. Scrambling over to get a talisman, Kenshin heaved a sigh of relief when Hoshi said nothing about the stolent kunai.
If Hoshi knew what went through Kenshins head he'd laugh himself silly, thinking these kids really saw him as some kind of omniscient god.
Lining up with the other kids in the forest line, he stood out looking a few year younger than the others, making him an easy target. For altough Kenshin had shown great ability in academics and chakra control, his abilites in tailjutsu had always been lacking.
Inspecting the solemn children, looking ready for war, Hoshi let his mouth curve upwards in amusement for the first time that day. Quckly wiping the expression off his face, he saw the last of the bath putting their finishing touches upon their equipment. Folding his hands across his chest he shouted loudly "Ready!" A few crouched low in preparation of jumping off "Set" The excitement in the air was almost tangible "G….! Wait a moment" At least two thirds of the children fell over in literal faceplants as they stumbled over their own feet. Turning around to glare at him balefully, Kenshin included. The teacher couldnt help but chuckle a little at their expressions before unceremoniously shouting "Go!"
And they were off.

A dreary sould transmigrates to the world of Naruto after a drug overdose. There he's immediately tried by the forces of nature before finding shelter in a Ninja village. He'll either prosper or die forgotten in the shadows of history.

"Hey little man."

Liem greeted. "How was first day of school? Did you make any friends?"

"Hi Uncle Liem. And yes, I made a lot of friends. But the one I liked the most was Caleb. He said he liked jets, just like me."

Liya left the two of them chatting, going up to the other room connected to her brother's office. It was a kitchen and Liem had it made specifically for when Liya and Jacob visited.

I guess we'd be here for lunch from now on. She thought. She then started cooking curry (Jacob's favorite) and stir-fried veggies.

When the dishes were done, she called them over so they can eat.

"Your cooking keeps getting better." Liem praised.

She smiled, "I have a reason to keep improving." while looking gently at Jacob.

Liya opened up her plan to start her own company, occasionally wiping Jacob's lips.

Liem practically had the same reaction as Gabe. "Wow, that's ingenious. Sign me up. But we're lacking in funds."

She nodded. "Yes. We need to partner up with an investment firm. The bigger, the better."

"Visani Corps."

Liya was astounded. "Brother, I did say that bigger is better, but I wasn't really pertaining to the #1 company in the country. They might not even entertain us, what more collaborating."

Visani Corps was the leading company in the country and was included in the top 5 in the world. If it was Fain Group, which was in the top 10 nationwide, then there was quite a chance to be noticed. But if it was a proposal made by just 3 persons, even if one of them was the CEO of Fain Group himself, the probability of being noticed was almost non-existent.

Axel Visani, the current CEO, was even harder to get an appointment with. He mostly kept to himself. No issues, no scandals. Not even a single picture. But Liya remembered from her past life there was once a rumor in their circle that Axel Visani was a cold-hearted devil, ruthless to his enemies, and hated women. Still, women flocked to his side because he's got the brains, money, and more importantly, (according to them), he was very handsome and had the perfect body.

"I'll talk to gramps. Maybe he can approach the elder Visani and convince his grandson. They used to be quite close, if I remember correctly."

"I don't think it'll work. But there's no harm in trying. I'll be compiling a list of other firms just in case."

When they all finished eating, Liem went back to work (as usual) while Liya and Jacob went home.

The two stayed in the living room. Jacob took his afternoon nap while Liya started to work on the list. An hour later when Jacob has already woken up, Liya was still not done. He didn't wanna to bother his mommy so he just turned on the tv, chose a Science channel, and took his mommy's college Math book.

Dinner time was nearing and Liya was only halfway done. When she looked up from her laptop, she saw Jacob reading her old Math book and on the tv was some Physics thingy she didn't understand.

When she changed the channel to a cartoon one, Jacob looked up from his book. "Why'd you change the channel Mommy?"

Liya raised a brow, "Don't you like this show?" while she sat down beside him.

"I used to. But now I prefer watching on the other channel. I learned about Thermodynamics."

Liya obviously didn't believe him but it was amusing. "Baby, you're 3. How could you understand such complex topics when you don't even know basic Algebra?"

"But I know Algebra, Mommy. Look! I learned it from your book." He said while pointing at the book.

Liya noticed then that the page he was on was already near the end. Astonished and confused, she asked, "What time did you start reading this book?"

He didn't know what it was about and why his mommy's face looked funny but he answered anyway. "When I woke up. I think that was around 3 p.m. Mommy."

"And you read it all from the beginning?"

"Yes."

"Did you understand anything?"

"I understood it all Mommy." Why is mommy acting like something unbelievable just happened?

Liya stood up, took a pen and paper and searched for a random calculus question online. She wrote down the problem and gave the paper to Jacob.

"Can you solve this for me sweetie?"

Nodding, Jacob took the pen and paper from his mommy and started scribbling. Liya's eyes grew wider as each second ticked.

He gave the paper back to her when he was done, curious why his mommy gave him a math problem all of a sudden.

Liya compared Jacob's answer to the one online and found that they were exactly the same, even the solutions were alike. Her eyes were wide open while she grabbed both of his cheeks. She tried to say something, but her mouth only opened and closed, for a good while.

She stood up, went to her room and called Liem. The call was answered on the 4th ring.

"Jacobmightbeagenius." Liya rambled, not noticing she said it very quickly due to shock.

"What?"

Liya took a sharp breath in. "I said, Jacob might be a genius." Taking another one, she continued. "He watched a science channel and he just read most of the contents of my college Math book! He freaking started at 3 p.m. and now he's telling me he understands Thermodynamics and he just solved a god-damned calculus problem. He was reading and watching at the same time, Liem. And he says he learned both!"

Liya stopped cursing since she had Jacob but right now, she didn't give a shit.

"Calm down Liya. Isn't this a good news though? Why are you so worked up?" She could hear him lightly laughing on the other line.

"It was quite shocking okay?! It got me freaked out! I kind of noticed Jacob was ahead of kids his age but I didn't think it'd be this waaaaay ahead. This is clearly going overboard. I'm just…..worried." She mumbled the last line lowly.

"Hey, why don't we go to the University tomorrow after lunch and get him tested out? I'll call Lloyd to cancel all my appointments for tomorrow afternoon."

Liya sighed while giving a small resigned laugh. "Okay. I'll go check on him now. I literally just walked out on him after he solved the problem to call you."

"See you guys tomorrow."

Liya hang up and went back to the living room, only to find Jacob reading the rest of the book with the science channel on.

Having been through something as unbelievable as being reborn, it mattered not even the tiniest bit to her how it happened. Only one thing was on her mind:

She had her baby back.

The little bun has been watching his mom. "Where's Daddy's morning kiss?" Jacob asked.

Axel quickly seconded. "Uhuh, where's mine?"

Liya giggled to their antics. Jacob was innocently clueless while the other one was shameless. She walked up to Axel and kissed his cheek, but at the last moment he turned to her, resulting to their lips touching.

"Mmhh, what a good morning indeed." Axel commented. Liya just giggled again.

"Hey, that's not fair." The two saw Jacob pouting. Why did he only get a kiss on the cheek?

"Jacob, you should only kiss someone's lips if you want to marry the person. So from now on, Mommy's lips only belong to me. Understand?" Axel explained to the little child, his tone was serious but his eyes contained mirth.

"So fast?" Dudian slightly frowned. He put away the chip and card reader at the back of the small dark cabinet. Dudian put on a coat and opened the door. Dudian saw Neuss waiting by the door: "I'm feeling sick today. Help me get there." 

    "Are you uncomfortable?" Neuss was shocked as he said in a hurry: "Master, if you feel unwell I'll immediately call the doctor..."

    Dudian winked at him and raised his arm. 

    Neuss suddenly came to understand what Dudian meant and caught his arm to help him. However there were doubts in his heart. 

    Dudian felt a strange smell as he went down the stais. He saw an officer sitting in the living room and waiting for him. He had three silver medals on his shoulder and seemed to be around forty years old. 

    The man heard the movements on the stais and looked up to see Dudian who was helped by Neuss. He rose form his chair: "Greetings master Dean." 

    Dudian gentle coughed: "Hello. Are you responsible for my protection?"

    "I'm the captain of the escort team. My task it to protect you safety and I hope that you will cooperate with us and don't make any dangerous moves." The man replied.

    Dudian sat down on chair next to him and motion him to sit: "How many people in the team?" 

    Reid replied: "We have 20 people in the team. Master Dean please rest assured that all those are the elite of the elite and top talents in their areas. They would be able to block hundreds of people and can protect your life."

    Dudian nodded: "Did they come too?"

    Reid shook his head: "They are waiting for us. I'm here to pick you up."

    Dudian lightly coughed: "My body feels a bit uncomfortable since yesterday. I think its because of the continuous rains. Perhaps I have caught a cold. Is it possible that we go to the battlefield after my body feels a bit better?"

    Reid nodded. He has long been aware that Dudian's body seemed to be in poor health. He said: "Of course! Master Dean should stay at home and rest. Do you need doctor? I can call one from the military." 

    "No need." Dudian replied: "I should be able to recover soon. There is war going on and the doctors are very valuable to the military. Let them take care of the wounded soldiers in the front line. They are the ones who needs to be taken care of."

    There was a trace of respect in Reid's eyes: "Master Dean is same as in the rumors. You are kind! Don't worry and notife us whenever you are ready to leave. But I personally think that Master Dean shouldn't be involved in war in the battlefield. It's too dangerous. Although we can protect you but a little slip won't just result as a  loss to the Temple but to all of us!"

    Dudian lightly coughed: "You are too kind!"

    "It's nothing." Reid shook his head.

    Dudian commanded a servant to send off Reid after a moment. Afterwards he went to upstairs and told to Neuss: "Make sure that informants stations at the front line transmit the informtion frequently. We must be the first ones to grasp the news in case the golden wall falls." 

    "Yes."

    Another day passed.

    The headlines of the morning newspapers were all about situation in the golden wall. The golden wall was dilapidated and crumbling. The barbarians were able to break through from 6 locations but were surrounded by the soldiers. However the situation was not optimistic. 

   There were news about Dudian's new concept. Additionally there were information that introduced steam rifles and their production process. 

    Legendary level weapon.

    This introduction caused high expectation from countless civilians and nobles. Especially in this tense war there was a need for such a weapon that could shift the tide. 

    In addition, there were news about establishment of the second line of defense by the Red River. It was reported that few generals died while preparing the defense line. 

    Dudian went back to the bed after reading the morning news. He was reading a book related to the history of the giant wall of the Silvia. He could sense the sounds of conversation spoken by the servants. From time to time he would hear shouts coming off from the entrance of the castle. He leaned from the bedside window to look at the gate where a large group of people stood by. Most of them were civilians while there were few nobles. 

    They were cheering and encouraging him in comparison to the previous curses. 

    Since the publication of the news the people who had come to curse at him had left and disappeared. But instead a large number of people had come over to cheer him on. The servants were surprised and felt happy because of such a change. 

    Dudian wasn't surprised but felt disturbed. His reading was affected by their shouts. 

    Dudian got a letter from Neuss at ten o'clock in the morning. 

    It was information that was sent from the front line. Dudian check it as his eyes narrowed. He said to Neuss: "Notify military that I want to join the battle." 

    Neuss's face slightly changed. Previously Dudian had told him that he would set off the moment golden wall collapses. Obviously the military couldn't hold onto the golden wall because of attacks by the barbarians in the rainy weather! 

    "Yes!" Neuss turned and left.

    Dudian skimmed trhough the secret report. He looked up as his brows slightly wrinkled. Dudian whispered: "Both of you... Don't let me down..." He took out a match from the drawer of the desk by his bed. He lit and burned the secret report and made sure that ashes were left. He took of the quilt and went out of the bed. He put on the silver armor that he had prepared in advance. There was a sword on his waist and his bow and arrows were in his shoulders. He chekced himself once more as he stood in front of the mirror. 

   He had handsome facial features. His posture was straight and he looked full of vigor just like a good knight.

    Dudian was quite satisfied with his appearance as he held onto the helmed and opened the door. The endless sounds of clanking metal echoed as he moved down the stairs. 

    Servants were surprised to see him wearing such a armor. Some of the young girl maids blushed but didn't dare to look at his eyes. 

    "Master Dean. Are you setting off??"Jake almost stumbled as he went towards Dudian. 

    Dudian nodded slightly and patted his shoulder: "Old patriarch will be in your care."

    "Yes, yes." Jake replied. Dudian was full of majesty in his eyes after he had become a master. 

    Dudian nodded as he called the servant to bring his raincoat. He put it over his armor like a cloak. 

    "Master, your carriage is ready." A maid reported.

    Dudian said: "I'm going to war! I don't need a carriage but a fierce horse!"

    "Yes, young master." The maid replied and left in hurry.


Catastrophe erupted, it was the end of the world.

NAPAHILOT ng sentido si Sage. Kanina pa masakit ang ulo niya. Marahil ay baka dahil sa kulang sa tulog. He wasn't able to sleep well last night. It was already five in the morning nang dalawin siya ng antok. Dalawang oras lang ang itinulog niya. He needed to wake up early in the morning as there was a scheduled script reading for this day. He just didn't know how he would initiate a conversation with her na hindi siya makakaramdam ng pagkailang.

    Caleb, his co-star, nudged him with his elbow and mouthed 'It's your turn' to him. Napatingin siya sa mga kasama niya. They were all looking at him, waiting for him to read his line.

    "Oh, sorry," aniya. Probably because he was spacing out, he didn't notice that Ariana was already done reading her line.

    "Are you alright, Sage?" it was the Director. "Parang kanina ka pa wala sa sarili. Don't tell me you're already tired?"

    He shook his head. "No, sorry. I just didn't get enough sleep that's why," he explained.

    The director just nodded her head. Ibinalik niya ang tingin sa script ang binasa ang linya niya. It was Caleb's turn after him. He glanced at his wristwatch. It was already 6 in the evening and the script reading was still on going. Kaunti na lang din ang ilang scene na hindi pa nila nababasa pero duda pa din siya na maaga siyang makakarating ng bahay.

    He excused himself and told them that he needed to use the washroom. Mas lalong tumitindi ang sakit ng ulo niya. He wanted to get home as soon as possible. And besides, he was sure Gianna was waiting for him. This time he didn't want her to think that he was still avoiding her. He saw how deeply hurt she was when he started avoiding her and acted cold towards her. But just like what he told her, he just didn't know how to face her after that night.

    Kinuha niya ang phone sa pocket at chineck kung may message galing sa kababata. He sighed when there was no message from her.     Naihilamos niya ang palad sa mukha. 'Don't smile at me like that if you don't mean it', sa isip-isip niya. He remembered how Gianna had been forcing a smile on her face this past few days. Had she already forgotten what he told her? That he could tell if something was bothering her just by her smile. So why needed to put that facade? If she was hurt then she should just... He sighed in exasperation and raked his fingers through his hair.

    Hindi niya alam kung bakit pero bakit parang nasasaktan din siya? Was it because he couldn't stand seeing that painful expression on her face? Nalilito siya. It was true he had feelings for her but that was before. Marahil ay dahil sa kaibigan niya ito kaya siya nagkakaganito. It couldn't be because he still had lingering feelings for her. He'd be damned if that was the case. He needed to message Gianna and tell her that he would be late. He wouldn't want to create another misunderstanding between them again.

    His phone rang. Kaagad niyang kinuha sa bulsa ang phone niya only to get dismayed seeing Hunter's name on the screen. He pressed the answer button. "Yes, hello?"

    "Are you already at home?"

    "Wala pa. Hindi pa tapos ang script reading. Pero malapit na din naman kaming matapos. Why?"

    He heard him sigh on the other line. "Nothing. I just want to consult you on something."

    "You sound like you are in big trouble," he said, a soft chuckle escaped his lips. "Why, don't tell me may nabuntis ka?" he joked.

    "No, that's not it!" mabilis naman nitong pagtutol.

    Natawa siya. "We're almost done anyway. Kung maswerte ako at hindi masyadong trapik ngayon ay baka makabalik ako ng maaga. If it is something important then wait for me at my place. Gianna is there to keep you accompany habang wala pa ako. Just be nice to her," he reminded him. Alam niyang parang aso't pusa ang dalawa pag nagkasama. Ang makitang magkasundo ang dalawa ay isang suntok sa buwan.

    Hunter groaned. "Really, Sage? You're asking for something impossible. You know how I hate—"

    He cut him off. "Yes, yes, I know that. As clear as crystal. But you could still try it. And oh, please don't break any stuff there."

    "What? And why would I break your things?"

    He could already imagine him scowling at him right now. Hindi niya alam kung bakit kung magsungit ito ay daig pa nito ang babaeng may dalaw. "Nothing. Just keep in mind what I said to you. Anyway, kailangan ko ng bumalik. Ilang minuto na akong nawala. Tatawagan na lang kita mamaya," he said and ended up the call. Sa pagmamadali niyang makabalik ay nawala sa isip niya ang balak na i-text si Gianna. 

“You killed me. And it was not only my heart you broke into pieces, you tore me apart.”

Para sa pag-ibig ano ba ang kaya mong gawin? For Gianna, she would fight for her love no matter who gets hurt in the process. After all, mas nauna niyang nakilala si Sage, her childhood friend. Mas nauna siyang mahalin ito. Kaya naman labis siyang nasaktan nang malaman niya na may kasintahan na pala ito. Bumalik siya ng Pilipinas to win him back. She would do everything to make his heart waver. She wanted him and only him. And if it’s not him, then no one could ever replace him in her heart.

Pero paano na lang kung may gustong humadlang sa plano niya? Si Hunter Jade Ruiz—pinsan ng kababata niya. If she was determined to take back Sage, ganun din kadeterminado si Hunter na hadlangan siya.

“If you don't want to get devoured by this monster then you better not do anything that will piss me off," he warned her.

As if to imply her thoughts of 'What crap are you talking about', her face was dyed in the colours of pure astonishment.

- Right now, we can only believe.
That must've come across as irresponsible. However, there was no other choice. This was the best plan I could come up with, and it also happened to be the only way to lead this event towards the correct conclusion.
I abruptly recalled what the 1863rd turn's Han Su-Yeong had told me.
⸢"I believe in the characters I've created. That's all."⸥
I could just about understand where she was coming from now. And that's why I replied like this.
- I thought that I can only believe in these people who were like teachers to me – these individuals that I had read about.
I trusted the 'Ways of Survival'. Not the author responsible, no, but the characters that appeared within its pages.

Yi Hyeon-Seong nodded. Uriel then slowly turned her head towards me. Her irises were burning brightly just like the corona of the sun.

Against that gaze seemingly testing my righteousness, I subconsciously swallowed back my saliva and nodded my head.

It was then Jeong Hui-Won standing nearby flinched a little. Technically, though, it wasn't her but probably Uriel, instead.
I was getting a somewhat-ominous vibe here.
What the 'Living Flame' said next was completely out of my expectations, though.

The expression on the 999th turn's Yi Ji-Hye was rather complicated. I realised why they stood around looking at each other for such a long time the moment I saw her face.
They weren't agitated simply because this world just so happened to be their home planet.
[[Are you aware of the events that took place in our world-line?]]
I hesitated on what to say. This wasn't something that I could explain away easily. Instead of my lacking communication skills, though, my Fables began speaking up in my stead.

[Fable, 'Demon King of Salvation', has begun its storytelling.]

A portion of the Fables I possessed travelled towards the beings from the 999th turn via the tip of my hand.

[Fable, 'One Who Opposes the Miracle', has begun its storytelling.]

[Fable, 'One Who Hunted the King of Disasters', has begun its storytelling.]

I observed them reading my Fables. Diverse, colourful expressions filled their faces. It was quite clear what overlapped with my Fable while they were reading it.
….Did I also make such an expression while reading the 'Ways of Survival' for the first time?
That was something I'd never find out.
[[….But, how could such a thing....]]
It was around then that an unexpected event occurred; the Status of the 999th turn's Uriel, reading my Fable silently until then, travelled over the Fable itself and invaded into the sea of my consciousness.
As if, she wanted to find out the origin of my existence.

[Exclusive skill, 'The 4th Wall', is activating!]

Just as I expected, the 'Wall' made a move as the blinding sparks danced in the air.

['The 4th Wall' is glaring at the 'Living Flame'!]

The Living Flame's left hand was deflected away as if being rejected, a faint trace of burn marks visible on her skin. She looked at me in pure shock, then the faint hints of understanding began permeating in the lights of her eyes.
[[I see. So, that's how it was. You are....]] Her voice sounded even more surprised compared to when she was reading my memories. [[The last fragment of the 'Final Wall', is it... Is that why the 'Secretive Plotter' was so obsessed over you?]]

A gob-smacking heat storm began condensing with the 999th turn's Uriel as its centre. Salty air circulated around my nose as the seawater evaporated into the rushing winds.
I reflexively cried out at this outrageous transformation of Status.
"Yu Jung-Hyeok!!"
At the same time, he stepped up before me and cut down the rushing hot air with his [Dark Heavenly Demon Sword]. However, the heat still managed to cook the backs of his hands.
His breathing became irregular. The [Disconnected Film Theory]'s effect had almost run its course.

The 999th turn's Great Fables were activating simultaneously. For some reason, even the 999th turn's Yi Hyeon-Seong didn't try to stop Uriel.

While listening to her true voice, I realised what her intentions were.
A story nobody supported. Even then, she wished to see the end of this particular scenario.

The reason why she wanted to continue on with this scenario wasn't because she agreed with the Constellations, nor did she want to side with <Star Stream>.
[[Show me your 'Conclusion'. Prove it to me that your group can reach an end different from any other world-lines.]]
Stars in the skies were looking at us. Stars that had been watching this story for a very long time. I imagined those countless starlights, and then, end of all the worlds waiting beyond that.
I imagined the end of this story, the one I'd been building up to for a long time.
"Kim Dok-Ja!"
The waves of heat completely filled up my view. The [Hellfire] of the 999th turn's Uriel, intermingling with the odour of burning sulphur, created the tsunami wave of lava. It was the moving wall of enormous Status capable of immediately melting everything that it touched.
The victory would be decided with one attack.
Block that, and we'd emerge as the victors.
"Focus your Great Fables, everyone!"
Petty tricks were rendered useless in the face of a calamity. My companions helped me with the mobilisation of the Great Fables, rather than focusing on their own specialities.
Shin Yu-Seung, Yi Gil-Yeong, and even Yu Sang-Ah, too – everyone raised their hands up in the air and added their share of the Great Fables.

[Great Fable, 'Season of Light and Darkness', has begun its storytelling!]

Accompanying the noises of the heavens splitting apart, the roars of the Apocalypse Dragon could be heard. Right next second, yet another loud howl exploded out from Han Su-Yeong's direction.

Two Archangels were working together with Jeong Hui-Won. Her [Judge's Sword] raised up high was now cutting down the tsunami wave.

This time, I startled the person wrapped up in his magazine, Fang Yuke. He stared at my angry face and said, "If a girl has a bad temper she won't be able to marry." He didn't wait for me to reply before he went back to his reading again.

The train finally thundered forward. I couldn't come up with anything to say so I grabbed a copy of Soulmate [5]. I flipped through a few pages and felt extremely bored. I didn't have anything to say but I tried to say something anyways, "Fang Yuke, how did you get into Peking University?"

Fang Yuke didn't lift his head, and continued to twirl the pen, "I was always first in school so this is normal."

"Oh. It's so fortunate that I somehow also tested in, otherwise you would be the only person who made it in from the whole town. Then, you would be so lonely! Hehe." I laughed, but in actuality, my wound had been ripped open again and sprinkled with salt.

Throughout the whole train ride, I lonesomely sent short texts, looked through Soulmate, and ate chicken feet. I had nothing else to do. On the other hand, Fang Yuke acted like a statue who sat opposite me, reading his magazine. If it wasn't for his twirling pen, I would have suspected he wasn't a living creature. In the end, I became drowsy, lay on the small table, and fell asleep. Within my haze, I was woken up by Fang Yuke, "Hey, you can go to the berth to sleep." I wiped away the saliva on my mouth, and trudged to the back, I didn't even take off my shoes, I just lay on the berth not conscious of anything else. When I woke up, Fang Yuke who was opposite me was reading again. What a nerd.

After more than ten hours had passed, the train finally reached its stop.

I laughed, "We aren't the same. You guys look at Peking University like you've seen your family. When you were born it was already determined that you will be  a Peking University student, and you don't have any feelings for it. I am not the same. I am a stalk of grass that was married into this wealthy family. I don't know if other wealthy people are regretful.
