For Ves, the visit reminded him that the states in the Komodo Star Sector meant nothing to the MTA. As far as they were concerned, the conflicts between the states resembled toddlers fighting over a favored toy.

Still, even the MTA and CFA had their limits. Even though they made a lot of strides in binding the fractured human states together, they never attempted to unite all of humanity into a single galactic empire.

History had shown that such a cause often ended with disaster. Nowadays, the galaxy was big enough to accomodate all kinds of rulers and states. The existences of countless kingdoms, republics, federations, alliances and more attested to the diversity of their race.

After touring a couple more aquatic mechs and other curiosities, the tourists shuttled back to the Nautilus. The final leg of the holiday consisted of a three-long visit to Cava City, the party capital of Moira's Paradise.

The tour organizers offered a lot of options for the passengers to choose. Some preferred to visit the city's seedy gambling dens while others preferred the city's fantastic art scene.

Raella wanted to attend a high-profile aquatic mech duel tournament. Ves on the other hand wanted to find some inspiration by paying a visit to the city's many museums.

"Cava City isn't safe. We shouldn't split up."

"Oh, come on Ves, why do you have to visit those boring museums? If you want to admire some artwork, why don't you look them up from your terminal?"

"A projection is no substitute for the real thing."

"That's what artsy design folk like you would say. To me, it makes no difference!"

They argued a bit but Ves had the upper hand since he paid all the bills. Ves only relented a bit by promising to spend one day at the arena before going off to the museums and art galleries.

"As far as I'm concerned, you're wasting your time." Raella remarked with a touch of spite in her tone.

"Culture is never a waste of time." Ves replied as he registered their plans to the tour operators. They'd receive their priority tickets within the hour. "It takes a lot of creativity to come up with a good design. They don't fall off the sky like apples from a tree."

A mech designer had to come up with something creative in order to make a splash in the market. Many of his rivals forgot about this rule and published generic designs that competed in the same saturated market segments. They'd never be able to beat the mainstream models that have gone through countless rounds of optimization.

As the Nautilus traversed along the bottom of the ocean, Ves considered whether he'd benefit from spending his DP. He eyed his Status and his stagnant Attributes and considered whether to invest in candies that upgraded his Creativity.

With a stockpile of over 100,000 DP, Ves had the points to spare. He decided to upgrade his Creativity first. Right now, Ves merely wished to improve his capability to appreciate art.

Ves checked whether his Privacy Shield still worked before purchasing a bunch of candies. "Come on, System, give me the candies!"

The difference between a Creativity score of 1.0 and 1.9 quickly became apparent. His mind bloomed with possibilities. Ves found it difficult to hold his focus as his senses ceaselessly stimulated his imagination.

Things ceased to become things.

They became something more.

For example, when Ves looked at a half-empty glass of water sitting on the table, his mind started to go off a tangent about its origins. The glass possessed an exquisite design, but Ves could tell it had been mass produced.

He imagined some dirty factory on some rusted planet that had pumped out these glasses on the cheap. His mind made up the tragic backstories of the handful of workers whose job entailed looking after the bots that did the actual work and cleaning up after their messes if they screwed up.

Even the water itself sent his mind into a wild story about how some primordial comet traversed the stars for billions of years before it fell into Moira's Paradise. The Nautilus of the Deep sucked up some of the fallen comet's water molecules out of pure coincidence.

"I've got to get a grip on my mind!" Ves clenched his teeth as he attempted to stop his overactive imagination. "My mind works for me, not the other way around!"

In the end, Ves had to employ his considerable concentration to force his imagination back. He maintained his highly focused state throughout the day until his imagination started to relent.

"That could have been dangerous for me." Ves wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Maybe I should show more consideration for balancing my attributes."

If he didn't possess a strong concentration, then he might have gotten lost in his own world. Ves never imagined that upgrading his Creativity could lead to such a dangerous result.

"The mind is a sensitive domain. I should be more prudent about it. I should stop swallowing all of the candies at once at the very least."

He'd become too complacent of its relatively mild effects. The candies appeared trivial compared to gene boosts that came with very strong side effects.

The ordeal forced him to pause his plans to upgrade his other Skills and Attributes. He had a sense that his imagination still needed to be tamed. Right now, Ves felt as if he birthed an uncontrollable monster in his mind. Without a leash, it could wreak havoc with his mentality.

For the rest of the day, Ves rested in his cabin, only coming out for meals and such. Meanwhile, the Nautilus continued her journey to Cava City without stop. By the time Ves recovered sufficiently to leave his cabin, the cruise ship reached her destination.

"The city looks huge." Raella uttered as she stared out from the observation deck.

"Millions of people live and work in Cava City. Of course it's huge."

Massive transparent domes littered the bottom of the Vermillion Sea. The domes kept the water out from the man-made construction contained inside. If Cava City faced a threat, the domes could even be covered by armored shutters made out of bulk exotic alloys.

To make their surroundings more attractive, Cava City spent a lot of effort in transforming its surroundings. Powerful lights illuminated the strange and colorful marine flora around the domes. Aesthetically pleasing fish and other marine life made their homes among these alien plants.

Despite the immense pressure at this depth, the plants and fish swayed leisurely along the currents. All the biodiversity gave Cava City the impression of an underwater kingdom.

The Nautilus arrived at a bustling port that hosted many other ships. Once the ship established a connection with the structure, the passengers entered the city in a figurative horde.

Ves entered the city with Raella and Lucky in tow. This time, his cat got to enjoy the sights as well. His cat purred with pleasure once Ves brought him out of the familiar confines of the Nautilus.

Mindful of his security, he also brought along a pair of guards. The cruise organization maintained a partnership with a local security firm that regularly hired out its guards to the passengers of the Nautilus. Ves had to pay an extra fee to get some piece of mind.

Once they stepped out into the nearest dome, they looked around and admired the dynamic structure and the lights flashing from their surface.

"It's so wild here. I like it!" Raella grinned.

"Strange. There's no mechs in sight."

"That's because mechs are prohibited from operating inside the domes." A nearby tourist responded to Ves. "Think of how much damage a rogue mech can do. If they're powerful enough, they can even crack the dome above our heads!"

Ves and Raella shuddered a bit at the thought. Ves had it worse as his overactive imagination started to spark a very vivid image of what a catastrophe a cracked dome could be.

"I guess that makes a lot of sense."

Even though they constantly faced the risk of a malfunctioning dome, Ves still felt safer in Cava City. The lack of mechs meant that Ves still had a fighting chance if another incident occurred.

One of their guards flagged an aircar. Once they hopped inside, the car brought them to their first destination. The car entered an underground passage filled to the brim with other vehicles and leisurely passed underneath a dozen domes before reaching the busiest one.

"Welcome to Cava City's mech district!" An invisible transmitter greeted the new arrivals as they stepped out from their aircars. "Enjoy your stay but be mindful of the rules!"

Several flashing warning signs posted at the exit the of the parking area emphasized the rules again.

The rules basically boiled down to one thing: no active mechs allowed on the streets.

"Do people break these rules?" Ves asked his guards.

"It happens more often than you think, Mr. Larkinson. Emotions run high during some of the duels. Sometimes the mech athletes put themselves under debt in order to compete at the stage. If they lose, they stand to lose everything."

The explanation showcased the darker side to dueling scene. Raella shook her head in pity. "A lot of people don't realize how much credits it takes to run a dueling team. There's always kids entering the amateur circuit who think they can get by with their skills alone."

"What happens next?"

"They find out they're not as big of a deal as they thought. Some duelists are quicker to realize this lesson than others. Those who hold on to their delusions either have the skill to back up their confidence, or become ruined within a year."

After obtaining the Mech Designer System, Ves aims to create the greatest mechs in the galaxy!

I walked on, frustrated. If I was really in California then there was no way I could find my way back to the city. My best bet was to find a phone and call Dad to come and get me. Boy, would I like to see his face if I told him I was in Berkeley Hills, California. 

Suddenly, I came to two tunnel entrances. In the middle of them, there was a big cement door, gutting from the hillside. I started walking towards it. Maybe that's where I came out from. When I came closer, I saw two kids in armour in front of the entrance, guarding it. They wore a bizarre mix of plumed Roman helmets, breastplates, scabbards, blue jeans, purple T-shirts, and white athletic shoes. Hey, maybe they could confirm I was in Berkeley Hills, though I was pretty sure now that somehow I was.

The girl on the left had reddish-brown hair spilling out of her helmet in a braid. She reminded me of an overgrown ferret. The boy on the right was a tall, buff blonde dude who definitely looked like he was in the wrong part of California. 

As I approached them, the boy narrowed his eyes but he lowered his sword and let me in. He signalled to the girl who sighed and started to lead me into the tunnel silently.

The tunnel cut through solid rock, about the width and height of a school hallway. At first, it looked like a typical maintenance tunnel, with electric cables, warning signs, and fuse boxes on the walls, lightbulbs in wire cages along the ceiling. As I walked deeper into the hillside, the cement floor changed to tiled mosaic. The lights changed to reed torches, which burned but didn't smoke. A few hundred yards ahead, I saw a glimpse of daylight.

I kept walking until I reached the end of the tunnel. My jaw dropped open. The scenery was normal enough for Northern California-hills and plains and stretches of forests with a small river cutting across the perimeter but there was something else about it. Something older.

Then I noticed the architecture. In the center of the valley there was a small city of white marble buildings and red-tiled roofs. Some had huge pillars with golden gates and gardens, while others had domes like ancient museums. There were fountains and flowers everywhere and a huge Roman style coliseum shone in the sunlight next to a long oval arena.

The strangest part of the valley was that just across the river there seemed to be some sort of military camp. It was about a quarter mile square, with earthen ramparts on all four sides, the tops lined with sharpened spikes. Outside the walls ran a dry moat, that also had spikes. Wooden watchtowers rose at each corner, manned by people with oversized, mounted crossbows. Inside, there were dozens of kids, carrying weapons, polishing armor. I heard the clank of hammers somewhere and smelled meat cooking over a fire.

I reached the river. The current was fast but it didn't look too deep. I looked across to the other side, took my shoes of and stepped in.

It was much colder than I thought and the current was much stronger. I slowly started to walked across gingerly. I had nearly reached the other side when I slipped and fell in the ice cold river. Ferret-Girl offered me a hand. 
"You really need to be more careful,"she said,"if we were being chased a monster could've used that opportunity to attack you."
I looked at her. "Monsters?"
She frowned. "Haven't you seen them before?"
I opened my mouth to say no but the words stuck in my mouth as visions flashed in my head of the strange things I'd seen. Like when I was in the park with Percy and a strange man in a bowler hat came and asked for directions but under his hat there was only one glowing eye. No one believed us except Sally though thinking back, Dad did pale. 

Ferret-Girl gave a satisfied nod. "Come,"she said,"let's see if you're worthy of this camp."

Ok. So I lied about the longer chapters and writing once a week. This is also getting really hard to write because Reyna is not at Camp Jupiter yet so I'm not really sure on how to do things.

Every time the group shaved 1% of the giant mud ball's HP, it would release some of the mud to form Mud Pawns which is not a problem but a nuisance to the team. Even if they could kill the Mud Pawn in one shot with a magic skill, it would deviate from the damage that they are going to use for the giant floating mud ball. The party decided to prioritize the giant floating mud ball and try to dodge the incoming Mud Pawns because they did not even give experience even if they were defeated and have sluggish movements. After a few minutes of struggling, the party managed to finally reduce the giant floating mud ball's HP to 30%. The giant floating mud ball emitted a shock wave that knocked back all its attackers by a few meters when it started to condense into a smaller mud ball which is now only five meters in height.
Adrian's party tried to attack once again but was blocked by the Mud Pawns that numbered to 20. The Mud Pawns showed a behavior that they did not exhibit before which is they grouped up and protected the descending mud ball. Before the Mud Pawns would just charge recklessly but now they would even intercept Kanlaon's breath attack with their body which baffled the party.
" It's as if they are being commanded by a general or a commander." Adrian and Marlon simultaneously said.
The floating mud ball descended onto the ground and the Great Mud Golem revealed its new form.

Description: A golem made of the mud in the Silver Moores. The Silver Moore Banshee made this golem with her new found powers. As the golem was made with mud, it has high physical defense but low magical defense but after it condensed its monster core it was able to acquire average magical defense. Due to external influences, it was not able to fully condense its core thereby making it incomplete. It has acquired armor and a sword by condensing its magical powers to change the structure of the mud but due to being incomplete the armor and sword only exhibits the properties of steel.
The Great Mud Golem now transformed to a five meter tall Great Mud Knight Golem. It looks like a knight statue that are in museums buy made purely of mud. The armor and sword it has looks like mud but has smooth surfaces and detailed artistry that would put a master clay sculptor to shame. The party is once again faced with a difficult opponent because when Adrian tried detonating a spacemine that was near the Great Mud Knight Golem and was frowned at the damage he dealt.

Adrian's previous damage to it was in the ten thousands and now it was only in the thousands which was a big leap in magical defense considering Adrian has magic penetration. The party was ready for the Mud Knight Golem to attack them but it did not. Instead the Mud Knight was standing like a general in the battlefield and commanding the Mud Pawns audibly of course but it use hand gestures which was peculiar. Adrian tried attacking the Mud Knight but was shocked by the damage he dealt.

He ordered Kanlaon to launch its breath attack on it but Kanlaon only dealt five damage which was one damage per second of its breath attack. Adrian shared his finding with Marlon and asked him to attack the Mud Knight Golem but the result was the same but his epic skill Gaea's Blessing still did its percentage skill health damage. Adrian was thinking that it should be absurd that the Mud Knight would only be dealt percentage health damage. He was thinking while swatting the Mud Pawns away when Marlon suddenly spoke.
" I think for us to damage the Mud Knight, we should deal with the Mud Pawns first. Since it is protected by some kind of aura when it planted its sword in the ground."
Adrian nodded to Marlon's conclusion because it was a logical deduction and he trusts Marlon's judgement. Adrian then instructed Sirius to join Kanlaon in attacking the Mud Pawns that numbered to 19 since the party already killed the first one that spawned. It seemed that the Mud Pawns' defenses have increased because they could not kill it with one shot but with three to four hits. It was then that Adrian noticed that the Mud Pawns have the same kind of aura like that of the Mud Knight. It took a good thirty minutes to defeat all of the mud pawns because they would revive again once the Mud Pawns were struck down.
Adrian was visibly tired because his stamina was almost depleted. He was kneeling on the ground because of exhaustion when he heard Marlon's warning.
" Adrian watch out!"
Adrian was thinking why his best friend said that when he looked at the previous location of the Mud Knight and it was not there. He then saw the shadow of a sword aiming at his neck and he did not have time to evade. He crossed his arms to seemingly block the blow when the blow did not come. Instead, Sirius used his body to shield Adrian of the blow.

Adrian was shocked and used Assault Charge instinctively. The Mud Knight was pushed back because of the sudden attack to its head that toppled the five meter Mud Knight to the ground. Marlon then hurriedly cast Earth Tomb to pin the Mud Knight to the ground.
Skill: Earth Tomb
Tier: Uncommon
Effect: Forms earth spikes around the targeted area to trap it for five seconds. This skill does not deal damage. Boss monsters are only trapped for half the duration.

Adrian saw Sirius turn into white particles which saddened Adrian because that was the first time he lost a soulbound to battle. Kanlaon became enraged and his attacks became fiercer towards the Mud Knight and even Saena was visibly pissed because it was throwing a tantrum while flying but it only looked cute instead of menacing. Adrian almost lost his mind when he remembered he has a skill that he has never used before.
Skill: Rewind
Tier: Epic
Effect: Rewinds the time for a selected area with a circumference of 3 meters. All skills used and health loss or gained will be returned to the state it was 10 seconds before the spell was cast. Can revive fallen comrades to 10% health if used towards fallen allies and the allies must be revived within 3 seconds upon the allies death. Cannot be used to revive NPCs.

Cast time: Instant
Mana Cost: 1000 MP
Adrian took a mana potion to immediately refill his mana and cast Rewind. Adrian almost did not made it but was delighted when he saw the skill effect. The area was covered in a bubble with gears and clocks going backwards as if telling the time was being reversed. When Marlon saw the effect that even the terrain was returning to its former look he suddenly muttered.
" Isn't that skill too OP"
A few seconds later Sirius was standing once again in the area he was executed. Adrian flashed a smile and Sirius looked puzzled but soon sported a battle stance as if signalling his master that the battle is not yet over. Marlon immediately healed Sirius and restored about 40% of its missing health. Adrian seemed more determined in fighting the Mud Knight because he muttered.
" Let's end this."

The day started with the sound of birds chirping happily. The city began its usually procedure with the people preparing for another day of work. Shops opened one by one, workers sweeping the dust away to welcome their customers while chatting with their business neighbors, parents waking their children up for another day of school, whom only grumbled at sound. Though somewhere else in a quiet neighborhood, a young man was already up and about, ready for another day of learning. He wore his normal school uniform which consists of a white buttoned shirt tugged into his dark blue pants with his tie tightened perfectly around this collar. His blazer hung on the coat rack, next to his school shoes. Of course, he was just your average teen filled with ambition, dreams and a hatred for being woken up, but today was a little different. His class had a tour at one of the museums in the area, famous for its ancient artifacts and collection, as well as its fame for being one of the country's oldest museums yet. 




Atano Kazewara was a normal student living his normal life, playing with his friends, have hopes and dreams, studying find an unfulfilling job later on in the future, find a nice wife, have kids and hopefully not have a divorce that can result in his wife taking the kids and half of his property. Hearing this, you can tell he's a simple-minded child already, but think again! 

After one fateful day at his local museum, supernatural things started stirring up in his once normal life, leaving him haunted by pale ghosts, chased by a mutilated demon that's obsessed with his lower body, cornered by dead children that thinks he's their dad and kept asking why he took so long buying cigarettes, and other creepers. Fortunately, he met someone who knows how to deal with this catastrophe, but his business pitch was a little off; 

"Give me your life energy in exchange for protection then." 

"But wouldn't I still die?!" 

"Not if it's mouth to mouth."

And that's the start of the strangest event of Atano's life. With the hard twist of fate, he's bound to get used to his new life and accept his newly discovered love preferences.
