This trope has been abused by Anime lately to the point you can't even tell why it exists anymore.

In my humble opinion, this trope shouldn't be evoked just for the sake of tasting the forbidden fruit but rather to show the character's mistrust in people who aren't blood-related. Controversial as it is, there are a lot of historical acts of it in real life.

Most of though has nothing to do with 'love'. Some eastern clans kept their 'bloodline purity' through marrying off siblings while others had their own political reasons to do so. Either way, there are rarely those who marry their sibling by choice.

But those who do are an example of what happens when you confuse 'familial love with romantic love' or just because the fact they are blood-related isn't found out in tragedies. Though most realistic people in these circumstances act appropriately.

Either they start their relationship from scratch or deal with the consequences if they have already started a physical relationship. Either way, nothing in real-life is as optimistic as this working out. Not unless there's a old governmental law in place.

I emphasise on 'ancient customs' since even the Egyptians found this normal. I could list the number of reasons a normal and rational individual would choose to curb-stomp any less-than-innocent feelings for their siblings as soon as they feel it.

However, the 'familial love turned romantic' is a subject much more interesting to me than a forced marriage or just not knowing the other party is blood related. That's because it takes certain qualities in the main character to evoke this trope.

Firstly, they must have a concrete cynical mindset towards others and overvalue their relationship with this sibling in particular. Whether the siblings is older or younger, girl or guy, they must have this sibling at the centre of their universe innocently.

After all, no good 'Sibling Complex' is anything like in Anime... Even if there was a person who got attracted to his sibling physically, their common sense would make them crush those thoughts.

The difference between those who confuse familial love with romantic love and a normal person is either how they obsessively put this sibling on a pedestal as if no one can beat them, or how they seek true 'understanding' in their life partner.

Most siblings have lived with each other from childhood and are openly honest with each other to a fault. There are, if not full aware of each other's strengths and weaknesses, are still the kind of people who would never judge their sibling outwardly. All you need in a life partner is right there if twisted the right way, the only thing left is a motive. Why would the character pursue a sibling?

They can either be immature like a teen, or it could be circumstances that make them act. What I am trying to say that a 'Sibling Complex' works backwards compared to a regular relationship.

You've already known your sibling for most of your life, you are already certain about the things you can and cannot do, now all that's needed is the incident that makes them turn this 'romantic'.

Saying that there are a lot of ways for you to write about their familial love turning romantic isn't true at all. After all, why wouldn't the character be content on their relationship with their sibling being innocent? You HAVE to give a good reason for this.

If not, you risk turning your character into a guy who only thinks with his lower half. What good is there for character of such nature? The best way to avoid this is making circumstances force his hand.

I don't mean societal wise like forcing them to hook up because of traditions. You can do that but you'll miss the chance of adding social development which affected the character's heart and mind.

Perhaps the character was bullied all their life and only found solace in their sibling, perhaps there was once incident that deeply rooted into the character's heart and made their thoughts messy.

In the end of the day, you must be able to show an emotional reason for them to evoke this trope.

Moving on:

The second quality the character needs is some self-awareness, they need to understand the consequences of their actions and just how their actions are seen by others. The self-conscious protagonist tends to make their sibling suspicious as their previously innocent demeanour gets covered by a mask they put up. The sibling will then become inquisitive and find out the truth.

It's just depraved to not add the character struggling inwardly as even this sibling of theirs might not respond to their 'romantic affection' in a positive way. It would be tragic for their relationship to break due to him acting on his toxic thoughts.

In the rare case that the sibling returns the character's romantic affection, they are placed in a worse state than Romeo and Juliet. They are bound by blood and know of the forbidden fruit, yet they they still desire it regardless of the world around them. Though love between siblings is a sin, can you create circumstances in your story to justify it?

You probably CAN do it. It won't come off as a bad piece of work that gives out the wrong messages if you are self-aware about this trope, admit that this trope cannot be evoked by a rational and logical main character, and make it more than about the romantic aspect of 'sibling love'. Though you can cater to a niche audience, a regular romance would be much more of a intriguing option if there's nothing else going for the story other than this.

This is a story I worked on ages ago that has been refined and edited by adding foreshadowing to events while also simplifying the power system better than before. This story can be considered a prequel to An Adventure Beyond Greatness as it takes place years prior to the events of that story.

Short Synopsis:
After retiring from the battlefield, my life became empty and lifeless. The regrets of my past haunt me in my sleep. Then a change occurred, a King from another world summoned me to fight for his kingdom, but I died even before I could give him my answer. Now, after a fake God allowed me to reincarnate (albeit imperfectly) with my memories intact, into a world filled with magic and swords.

Long Synopsis:
This is about a flawed protagonist who only knew to rely on others and not socialise who gets a second chance to change himself in order to live the life he aimed for in his past life. The narrator isn’t exactly trustworthy since it is purely in his bias perspective while other perspectives given by others fill in the blanks that he either leaves out or twists to suit the situation.

The story itself can be considered a parody of Isekai’s classic tropes which are given a sense of reality as time goes by. As there exists no ‘Demon Lord’, there is also no black and white, only characters opinions and counter-opinions throughout the story.

Alas, Stupid Bird is always a stupid bird, you can't judge his actions with the thinking of normal people. It was just an illusion, but he actually regarded it as the second chance and time travel. The way his mind worked was exactly like some teenager who suffered Chuunibyou after reading a lot of rebirth novels. Could it be that this guy secretly downloaded some novels using his computer?

"Then… how about just dating for the sake of being a musician and a director? Experiencing romance will give you inspiration in making romance films and romantic songs." Aiden says.
"Nah. Other people's experiences are enough for me for inspiration. Have you heard some of my songs, man? They're romantic. Even if you didn't, people who love country love them." Tayaw shrugs.
"Okay. How about making a romantic film?" Aiden asks.
"uh.. September Ninth?" Tayaw says.
"Nope… I remember clearly you saying that 'September Ninth' was not a romantic film." Aiden says, barely suppressing his smugness at trapping Tayaw in his own words.
"Well, whatever… I'm not planning on making a romantic film soon anyway. I'm just saying. I'm romantic enough by myself." Tayaw throws back a ridiculous reply.
*laughter* The audience find the double entendre amusing.
"I mean. I think that other men too are romantic enough by themselves." Tayaw adds *groan* *laughter* getting more reaction from the crowd, the ladies disgusted, the men are amused.
"Are you sure we're still talking about romance?" Aiden says, riding on Tayaw's joke.
"Psh. Yeah I'm talking about romance! Tell me, Aiden. Who do you think is more romantic? Men or women?" Tayaw asks.
Aiden's face freezes, familiar with the feeling of the path things will take once Tayaw starts asking questions back.
"Well. I think women." Aiden says, in caution.
"OBJECTION!" Tayaw slams the couch's arm, startling Aiden.
Then *groan* *ooohhh* the audience are caught off-guard by Tayaw's reaction.
"Jesus Christ. What was that?" Aiden says, catching his breath.
"I'm sorry. I just get so passionate sometimes." Tayaw says, playfully.
*laughter in the audience*
"Okay. How was I wrong then?" Aiden says.
"I'm not saying you're wrong. I just disagree, based on what I've seen. First of all, why do you think you're right?" Tayaw asks back.
Aiden rubs his eyebrows, preparing for another round of chaos.
"I don't know really. They're more caring? They consume romantic books and movies more." Aiden says, as rational as he can.
"Caring. True. Romance fiction consumption? True too. But I still disagree. I associate romance with love. And dare I say AS WELL, men love women more than women love men." Tayaw says.
*OOOHHH* *APPLAUSE* the crowd becomes divided at that.
"PUhah! W-what are you talking about?" Aiden's voice raises in laughter at Tayaw's ridiculous claim.  
"Let's talk about love songs. How do you know if a love song is written by a male or a female songwriter?" Tayaw asks.
"Hmm. I don't know?" Aiden says.
"Another question, and please answer honestly, do you prefer songs by male singers or female singers?" Tayaw asks again.
"I guess male singers' songs. I especially like 'I Only Want You' by Summer Alaska." Aiden says.  
"Hmm. Good song, right?" Tayaw says, approving of Aiden's taste in music.
"What does this have to do with your first question?" Aiden asks.
" 'hmm~ I'll be the mountain you can stand on, be the hand you can hold, when you get old…'" Tayaw sings a line of the song. 
"That is written by a man. A romantic man." Tayaw says.
"Man, of course. Summer Alaska is a rock band of guys." Aiden says.
"yeah. But the subject, the idea. Male songwriters write more about sacrifice for a woman. They sing stuff like 'I'll climb a mountain for you' 'I'll leave my job for you' 'I'll catch a bullet for you'. Right?" Tayaw says.
"Yeah… Yeah, that makes sense." Aiden nods.
"How about female songwriters? 'Put your arms around me' 'Take my breath away' 'Take a chance on me'… Familiar, man?" Tayaw says.
"Uhuh… I see it…" Aiden immediately realizes what Tayaw is saying.
"Yes! While men write songs on how to GIVE GIVE GIVE their love for a girl, women write songs that WANT WANT WANT. IT'S UNFAIR! I have to give you something before you give something back? THAT's not love! That's being a child!" Tayaw says with fake anger.
*laughter*
"Girl, why do I have to climb mountains to make me love you? Why not chase me, too? I'm tired! Why do I have to catch a bullet for you? I'll be dead! You selfish asshole!" Tayaw continues riffing.
*laughter* *applause*
"Oh! OH! Another thing! How about sad love songs? Men write songs on how it's their fault, that they should have worked harder to love, that they're sorry, over and over and over again. How about women's love songs? They just talk about how they feel!
"Ooh. 'I feel hurt'. Ooh. 'I wish you heart break'. They rarely apologize man! ARE YOU A QUEEN? ARE YOU A SAINT? ARE YOU JESUS? What about ME? What about MY FEELINGS?!" Tayaw continues his comparisons in exaggerated passion.
*LAUGHTER* *WHOOO* *APPLAUSE* At this point, Aiden and the audience are almost unanimously clamoring in laughter, not because the comparisons are outrageously funny, but because Tayaw's passionate delivery.  
"Alright. Calm down, Isaac. I hear you." Aiden says, knowing that Tayaw is joking, but his words are effective in calming down the room again.
"It's unfair, you know?" Tayaw says, wiping his fake tears under his huge sunglasses amusing the crowd more.
Aiden seeing this, can only give up leading the show and instead act as an assistant for Tayaw's jokes and an arbiter.  
"I know. I know buddy. But those are just songs." Aiden says in fake consolation.
"BUT NOT JUST SONGS! IT's everywhere in the movies! Why do I have to chase a girl in an airport? Why do I have to make a spectacle just to propose? No, dude. If a girl sees how I love her, then she shouldn't make me go through all that stuff that might break my wallet or send me to jail." Tayaw starts once again.
*OOHH* *LAUGHTER* the men audience are riled up once again.
"That's just in the movies, buddy. It's not like that in real life." Aiden says in fake assurance. *laughter*.
"I know. But in real life, I think men love women more than the other way around though." Tayaw says. *ooohhh* "What makes you say that? My wife and I love each other equally." Aiden says. *oohhh*
"Good for you… But… I mean…" Tayaw takes a deep breath.
"Look. Say, in a relationship, a SERIOUS one, what happens after a break-up? If I may ask, what happened when one of your past relationships ended?" Tayaw asks.
Aiden hesitates in answering but because he does not want to block Tayaw's flow, he obliges.
"20 or so years ago. I was in a relationship with a girl I met in college. We dated for three years but after graduation, it didn't work out." Aiden starts.
"A month after we broke up. I saw her with a new guy walking along ***** Boulevard and they were holding hands." Aiden says.
"I bet you were still dealing with the break-up?" Tayaw asks.
"Yes and it was miserable. BUT that's just me, and her. My thing doesn't apply to everybody." Aiden says.
"Yeah. Your story doesn't prove my point, of course. But, you're not the only man I know who had the same experience. According to what I've seen, and from the men I've made friends with, a man will take months, even years to recover. A lady will take what? Half? A fraction of the time a man does to move on. I therefore conclude that men love women more than the other way around." Tayaw says.
*WHOO* *BOOO* The crowd is now divided, *LAUGHTER* but find Tayaw's rambling amusing too as there is some truth to it.  
"Here's another thing I noticed. No, I really tried my best looking this up… In a young marriage, like a couple in their 30s or 40s… when a spouse dies, what happens?" Tayaw asks Aiden.
"… I don't even wanna know." Aiden says, dodging the question this time as the subject seems heavier.
"If the wife dies, the man would mourn, which is a given. After that, what happens?Half the time, they re-marry, half the time, they would never re-marry ever again. The stuff that belonged to their wife would bring back memories and the man would have a hard time throwing her stuff away. Right?" Tayaw asks.
"That kinda covers it, yes." Aiden says.
"What happens if the husband dies?" Tayaw asks again.
"The same, I guess?" Aiden says.
"Yes. But there's a small and important difference…" Tayaw says, pausing for three seconds to build up suspense which is effective as *murmur* the audience is brewing in anticipation.
"… there'd be … PUHAHA!" Before Tayaw can even conclude his comparisons, he bursts out laughter.
*Laughter* Aiden and the audience laugh with Tayaw too, but mixed with it, some nervousness.
"There'd be… Puhhhh.." Tayaw bursts out again.
"Man… I can't finish the joke. I'm sorry. *giggle* It's kinda messed up." Tayaw says.
*Laughter* The audience this time laugh in relief.
"Come on. You already set it up that long, what were you gonna say?" Aiden is curious.
"I was gonna say. If a young husband dies in a marriage, his widow will start a garage sale right after his funeral." Tayaw delivers finally. *OOOHHH* *GROAAANN* *giggles* The audience members are shocked but somehow cannot stop themselves from seeing the humor in the dark joke.
"Yeah. The guitar, his video game console, his signed baseball, his signed jersey. I wouldn't be surprised if she sold them for $20 each." Tayaw stretches his joke.
*LAUGHTER in the audience*
"PUHAHAhhaa. OHHH my GOD! Man, you're crazy!" Aiden loses it.
"I kinda am~! I told you I didn't want to say it. Now the pedestrians of Los Angeles are all shocked." Tayaw says.
"EUGHH..Jesus Christ. Let's cut this short to commercial break before you say something worse." Aiden shakes his head.
"That would be best." Tayw nods, feeling great at playing the room's emotions. The producers also sigh in relief, very unsure if they can even air the episode.

"We're back with more of Isaac."
*APPLAUSE* The taping continues after a short break.
"We have a ten or so minutes left. Is there anything you want to talk about? I mean, when you're the guest, we really don't prepare, so we just have to go all the way in winging it." Aiden says.
"Hnn. I don't really know what else to talk about." Tayaw says, wanting Aiden to lead the interview this time.
"Well, is there anything else you're up to?" Aiden asks.
"Nothing really. I've spent a few months making a film and I think I need a break. Also, it's been a while since I released my first album, '18' and my country album 'On the Road' so I think it's time for me to write new songs again. I have to release an album called '19' while I'm still, you know, 19." Tayaw casually promotes his album and his future one.
"While I'd really LOVE to see more of your stuff, there's no rush for you. You're young with plenty of energy, but you also shouldn't work yourself so hard." Aiden says.
"Yeah. Maybe I should travel too. Is there a place you can recommend?" Tayaw asks.
"Ever been to Europe? Italy's a nice place." Aiden recommends having grown up with Italian-Americans.
"Ahh.. Ho passato un sacco di tempo in Italia gia." Tayaw says. (any Italian readers? SOrry. It's google translate.)
"…" This silences the studio.
"I don't know what you said, but I'm guessing you're skipping Italy?" Aiden says. "Yeah. Either way, I might decide to travel." Tayaw nods.  
"Mmm. By the way, you were so happy talking about singing in Grand Country Opera, but how come didn't play for us tonight?" Aiden asks.
*groan* The audience express their disappointment as they realize what they have missed out on.
"Well, I thought if I wanna play again for the show, I really wanna collaborate again with Da Bellum Burning folks, but because I only had yesterday as a heads up, I had no time to work something out with them." Tayaw tips his hat to the members of the house band.  
"Dude. We have a guitar and a drummer. You have all you need." Shaheed says with his mic, which he only uses for singing.
*applause* The audience love the idea followed by "SING! SING! SING!" an urging chanting.
"Alright." Tayaw, not wanting to disappoint the audience, stands up and walks towards the band with light steps.
*applause* the audience is pleased to see Tayaw happily oblige to their request.

Over the next few weeks, I began opening myself up a lot more, I was terribly nervous but within a short period I realized, people never hated me, I just thought they did. The only reason for that being, of course, I didn't know my own self. Opening myself up to people made me realize there are all types of people, some who are possessive, some who aren't, some who are expressive while the other set of people are as cold as a rock. Every one of us had a shield, being a loner was mine. I honestly felt a flurry of emotions when a newfound friend invited me to hang out with the group after school. I soon ended up making various friends, all different and unique. Somewhere in the whole rush, I forgot about quality over quantity. What assured me the most was the fact that she didn't influence all this. It wasn't her; it was me who did all this, all on my own.
The annual concert period was the most eye-opening period of my time, the school was stressful but felt like a challenge now. I used to stay back for dance practice, hang out with a small group of people after that, being a silent spectator who chipped in a few comments usually received well but then sometimes with an awkward silence until someone broke the ice.
This was a massive improvement. I then used to walk you back just to talk a bit, somedays you used to walk to my colony, wait and talk for a bit and leave. Either way, it was just purely amazing and I had what was one of the best periods of my life then. However, I was at a point where I was unsure if I liked you, I thought that all thee normal encounters were numbing my romantic instincts towards you.
I often wonder, what is love, is it just another cheesy movie dialogue or is it not half as weighted as we make it seem and it is just another everyday thing. It may be neither, it may not be real, I've never seen it and I have never seen anyone close to me go through it either. I used to think about whether it is something that I will ever experience. Maybe love is just an attachment to something, it is only a feeling after all. Maybe it's the trust in someone to be there for you when you're at rock bottom. Maybe it's you thinking about someone at all times or perhaps only when you're sad or happy wishing they were with you to share the happiness or to console you. Perhaps romantic love it isn't a real thing, my handful of friends never experienced absolute romantic love and the only time I knew of it was in movies or books. I theorized that romantic love is nothing but platonic love mixed with attraction. I was so proud of this theory for it applied aptly in everyone's lives and most people I told this to never disagreed. 
 I knew one thing, it's as natural as it gets and the fact that you can never force it upon yourself. I get angry at others for saying I love you so easily and to so many people, but who am I to get angry when I can't even say it to the ones close to me unless I am feeling emotional. I always feel scared of that word. What could it possibly be, is it a commitment? If I love someone is it forever? Can it disappear or can it only be suppressed? Whatever it was, thinking about it just scared my sometimes-nihilistic self. I looked at it from the grand scale and thought about how I was so eager for love but what is so special about this feeling.
The annual concert was really fun, we pulled off a somewhat success, people made fun of me for having what is agreeably the worst dance in the group, but who was to care, I had the most beautiful partner.  We just became closer but then we both were very comfortable where we were, it wasn't flirty but filled with unexpected romantic moments leaving both of us to blush. Even with all this, I was just growing more unsure of whether I liked you romantically but that was fine, I was happy where I was.

Written from the first person point of view, this is my ideal high school romantic endeavor. Using the typical loner archetype as the male lead and the popular girl as the love interest this is a drama-free, peaceful take at romance and high school.

True Relationships are difficult to build nowadays than they were built before.Most people get into relationships and Invest most of their time in the relationships only to find out in the end that all the efforts they invested wasn't at all worth it and they've ended up loosing much more than what they anticipated to gain.This is sad, painful and brings much more frustrations in life. In the end these experiences build people that are very hard to trust other people and thus making it even more difficult for them to trust and Experience true love. This difficulty of one finding a true relationship that he/she invest himself/Herself in is due to the fact that the world is dynamic and hence constantly changing in different aspects and especially the social aspects for Instance it was much easier to get a woman a man can call a wife just by going straight to the female's parents decently and directly propose then the female's parents would then decide whether the man is good or not good for their daughter. This system had its drawbacks but still brought simplicity when it came to relationships and Love. The elders and the societies of the past believed that one doesn't need to love first for him/her to be in a relationship and what belied That Love and Feelings develop eventually as people keep being together. This is to a certain degree true and some people may completely agree with me in this aspect. Romantic feelings that come about instantly almost always stem from physical attraction or other superficial characteristics, since you have not yet had time to learn about the individual's personality or character. Over time, these feelings can evolve into love based on other traits, such as shared interests, values and goals. Romantic feelings that develop over time may follow a similar path. For example, platonic friends may develop romantic feelings after spending time together and realizing they are a good match. Regardless of how long it takes for romantic feelings to develop, love -- as opposed to lust or infatuation -- almost always develops over time.

After the commencement of the System that everyone has the rights to do particular things,The Relationships and Love aspect has become a very tight ship and it has been very difficult for most people to get true relationships and True Love and some of them are almost entirely loosing the Hope of ever finding True love and true Relationships. Just as one about to give up on the Aspect of love and relationships This book is about to give you the secrets behind relationships and the tracks that one would follow to true Relationships and True love and therefore giving Him/her the Chance to experience Love and happiness again and in the end sing the melodies of true Love.
