ATHENA MALFOY SULLENLY MADE HER WAY TO PROFESSOR MCGONAGALL'S OFFICE, NOTHING EXCEPT GLOOM ON HER MIND. These days, she felt empty and gloomy. Something had to be wrong, because had she been sane she would 'not' have gotten Potter and Black out of trouble, earning herself 'two' detentions in one day.

'But why do I hate them?'

For half a second the question flashed across her mind, before she shook her head defiantly, stubbornly refusing to listen to it.

'No, no, don't start liking those two now!'

Finally, she stopped at Professor McGonagall's office door, and held up a hand to knock.

But at just the first knock, the door was opened, and a stern looking McGonagall was sitting at her desk. She had opened the door with magic.

Athena spotted James Potter leaning against the wall at the other side of the room and Sirius Black eating a sweet candy stick from dessert sitting on one of the desks, and judging by McGonagall's constant sharp glances, he had been like that before Athena had arrived.

As to how those two troublemakers were always early for detention was beyond her.

For a few seconds, Athena stared at James, then to Sirius, and the three just glanced at each other awkwardly before McGonagall spoke.

"Miss Malfoy, Mr Potter and Black, as your detention, you will have to read the entire Hogwart's rules on civility, yes all two hundred pages," she added at James's incredulous look, "and then after you will need to answer these twenty pages of questions regarding the book once you're done. If you're not done by the end of this detention, see me next week. Now all of you take a seat."

There was only one other desk in the room, besides McGonagall's, which was off limits.

Athena blinked at her, then looked at the desk that Sirius was sitting on. The desk itself was long enough to hold three students, if you were comfortable with being less than thirty centimetres apart.

"I–" Athena's mouth opened and closed but no sound came out. Sirius scowled for a fraction of a second before getting off the desk and sitting down on the bench. James went to sit beside him.

McGonagall turned to Athena expectantly. "Well?"

Athena sighed and went to take the last seat available, which was beside James.

Three copies of the Hogwarts rules books appeared in front of each of them, and twenty question filled papers with them.

"I'll return in two hours. Make sure to finish those and think about your childishness."

And then she left the room, closing the door behind her. Of course she locked the door, so they couldn't run out and ditch their detention.

An awkward silence like never before fell upon the room as soon as the door was shut.

Athena shakily reached and opened the rules book to the 'Civility' chapter and silently started reading.

But she couldn't focus on the page. An overwhelming sense of gloom was preventing her from doing so.

'Why do you hate them?'

'Why do you hate them?'

'Do you?'

'Do you hate him or is it just a facade?'

By then, Athena was trying to keep the tears under control, because she could not afford to start crying in front of Potter and Black. She bit her lip hard and shut her eyes lightly, trying to focus on her detention and on the rule book.

And the worst part was that she had no idea why she wanted to cry.

But emptiness overtook her again, and guilt to add to the pain.

Suddenly Athena started to taste blood. Immediately, she stopped biting her lip and got up to get a tissue from McGonagall's desk.

Athena's breaths came out shallow, and the same haunting sentence repeated over and over again in her mind.

'He doesn't deserve to be hated.'

'Do you really hate him?'

'Why do you hate them?'

'Are you feigning hate right now?'

"NO!" Athena shouted, slamming her fist onto McGonagall's desk, before remembering that she was still in the same room as her two worst enemies and still had a bleeding lip.

"What?" Potter looked up from the Hogwarts rule book, a bored expression on his face.

"I hardly think that's any of your business, Potter," Athena bit out harshly.

"Well gee, it's no wonder you and McKinnon argue so much. You snap at anyone who tries to care," Potter pushed his copy of the Hogwarts' rules book off his desk.

"I'm sorry, did I hear that right?" Athena asked sarcastically. "Since when did you 'care' for anything other than Lily?!"

"Well you're sure one to talk. What were you playing at today?" Sirius got up and narrowed his eyes at Athena.

"W-what are you talking about?" Athena tried to look annoyed and disbelieving, but she was terrible at purposely lying.

"Oh come on, don't play dumb with us, Malfoy. Why did you do it?"

Athena couldn't find a way around the question without coming out as suspicious.

Suddenly she felt a sharp pain coming from her heart. 'Physically.'

By instinct, her hand flew to the place above her heart.

But the pain was gone just as fast as it had started.

"So?"

Sirius's voice snapped her back to reality, and in a flash, Athena had a cold expression on.

"So what?"

It happened so fast Athena didn't have time to react–Sirius had advanced forward and Athena and backed away and felt her knees touch something solid. McGonagall's desk.

Athena put her hands on it to steady herself so she didn't fall backwards somehow, despite that being highly unlikely.

Inches apart, Athena looked up at a glaring Sirius Black. She narrowed her eyes at him, eyes flashing with defiance.

But the more she stared at him, the more guilt she got building up inside her. She hated it. But she couldn't dismiss it easily.

"What?"

But at the moment the door was shot open and within seconds Sirius had backed away and Athena was in a stance that quite literally said 'heyIaminnocentbutreallynotbecauseIlooksosuspiciousrightnow.'

Well at least she didn't look like she was just cornered against Professor McGonagall's desk.

"Well, it hasn't been two hours yet. But pray tell what on earth are you all doing? Miss Malfoy, Mr Black?"

"Nothing," Athena beat the other two to saying it. "Nothing at all. Just a minor disagreement."

'Just a bit of guilt, topped with pain and emptiness. Only a little pain and guilt.'

McGonagall told them to go finish their papers, and this time she didn't leave the room, she sat at her desk, correcting essays and homework.

James and Sirius finished all twenty pages of the worksheets, but Athena was only able to do six and part of the seventh by the end of the detention. So she was to see McGonagall again the day after her other detention.

'Just great. Detention is the last thing I want to be doing,' Athena thought bitterly as she left McGonagall's office two and a half hours later.

'And it's all because my stupid mind chose to take the blame for Potter and Black's prank.'

But she couldn't quite show the same amount of hatred in her thoughts at the mention of their names as usual.

Sighing in frustration, she ran her fingers through her hair roughly.

'What is wrong with me?!'

The Malfoy family is known for being apart of the Sacred Twenty Eight and always being Sorted into Slytherin, as we learn from Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. But what if he was wrong?

He was.

Not many acknowledged the fact that Lucius Malfoy had two younger sisters, Athena Luna Malfoy and Cassandra Aries Malfoy.

The two sisters grew apart; Cassandra was dumped at an Orphanage when she was five, and had a poorly placed memory charm on her, and had all records of her even existing vanished. No one is sure how Abraxas and Luna Malfoy were able to get everyone to forget about her, not even Cassandra.

Cassandra grows up as Kendall Brooke in a Muggle Orphanage, with a major memory problem, while Athena and Lucius are raised at Malfoy Manor, to grow up to be the pureblood supremacists the Malfoy family is notorious for being.

But then again, Athena never really liked upholding tradition...

This is the story of the three Malfoy siblings, how one was forgotten and remembered, and how the other two broke apart.

"Hold on a second, Mia. Before we leave let's make sure everything is settled here", said Finn. Since he was still standing in the ring next to Lenox, Finn thought this was a good time to establish everything clearly. He would be leaving the Village soon, so he wanted to make sure he would leave everything in good hands.

"This fight was supposed to decide who would become leader. Things happened differently, so, I propose that Lenox should take the post. Since this has been very informal, I understand if there is any disagreement with this decision.", said Finn.

Everyone nodded in agreement. However, a man called Joseph still had a couple of comments to voice.

"I agree with Lenox becoming leader. Although the process was informal, I think it's a good decision as long as you are supportive of it, Finn. However, I think that a structure should be established in our Village for selecting the future Village leaders." said Joseph. 

Joseph continued elaborating, "honestly, it could be anything as long as the majority agrees. It can be a duel, a vote between our families, or perhaps a successor can be chosen by the leader himself."

After hearing this, Finn and the rest of the people were quite pleased. Finn's father, Regis was a great leader. Many liked him and he was always able to improve the overall mood of everyone in the Village, however, Regis never took much time to establish rules that would be followed even after he was gone. 

Finn answered, "Yes! Joseph, I think that's a great idea. In fact, let's resolve it right now since everyone is here. Everyone, please share your opinions!"

"The most logical and civil way is to do things by voting", said Aldren. "Although today's fight did go smoothly, I don't believe it will create a good environment in the Village. After all, we're all allies here."

After hearing Aldren speak, many people started voicing similar opinions, all in support with what Aldren had just said. 

There was a lot of support for establishing a voting system, which pleased Finn. Finn liked fighting, but he didn't think that duels were a good indication for choosing a leader. "A leader should have wisdom", thought Finn. Finn had read many books that talked about Earth before the calamity happened. This was why he was pleased to see people supporting the voting system, a system that would propose and establish civility and order in the Village, just as he had read in his books. 

Regardless of Finn's support of the voting system, he also knew that this world was different from the world he once read about. Although it seemed barbaric, raw strength would soon become an important factor in their society, like in three years when they would have to fight the beasts. 

But before Finn could come up with a solution to his problem, Lenox voiced his own opinions. 

"Family, believe or not, strength is how the world works now. Let's not run away from this, let's embrace it. We need to promote strength, wisdom is long gone in this world". Although it was not for the same reasons as Lenox, Finn also believed that a simple voting system wouldn't be enough.  

"It takes more than muscles to lead, you know? It's about wisdom, I think that's why we all liked Regis, not cause he looked strong.", said Mia's mother. "yeah, I think I agree with her".

"Please. We need strength moving forward, I'm telling you!", said Lenox. But unfortunately for him, everyone disagreed annoyingly.

Finn, seeing Lenox get in an uncomfortable and sticky situation decided to step in, even though he was enjoying watching Lenox dig his own grave. "I think we need to arrive at a compromise. A system where we can have a representation of strength and wisdom. I think those two virtues will be necessary in the future." 

Finn was about to continue speaking and propose his plan, but he was suddenly interrupted by Aldren. "Finn, I think I've thought of something good." 

"We have the Village leader. That position has always been in charge of maintaining order and civility within the Village. Personally, I think that position does not need strength and is best decided through a vote. That way we can choose the person we think has the most wisdom to make the important decisions. However, we still need strength in our Village. Why? Because we don't know when this mythical force that protects us, will decide to stop protecting us." Although Aldren did know when the animals would attack, he didn't wish to scare anyone since he thought it would bring chaos and panic to the Village. 

"So how will we establish power?", Aldren continued speaking, "I propose we make a new position, The Village Champion. This position refers to the strongest warrior in our Village. The Village Champion is in charge of protecting the Village in an event where it needs protection and teaching people how to become stronger. What do you guys think?

"I'm glad I didn't voice my opinion. Damn, he's clever." thought Finn with a smile on his face. Similarly to how Finn felt, the Villager's hearing Aldren's speech strongly agreed with him. 

For the first time, Goran spoke up, "I agree Aldren, that's a great idea." Although Goran didn't say much, everyone valued his words. His brief opinion actually influenced many people to agree. 

Afterwards, several people voiced their opinions and everyone ended up agreeing, including Lenox. 

"Alright, so who's going to be the Village Champion?", asked Joseph. "Will we have another duel?"

Following Joseph's questions, everyone had a disoriented look on their faces as they looked at one person. Everyone was looking at Lenox, and they all thought the same thing. Seeing what was happening, Finn voiced everyone's feelings. "Lenox...why don't you become Village Champion? Clearly you admire strength and power. Plus, if I'm to be honest you don't seem like the wise and civil type.", Finn said with the most innocent face he could muster. 

Lenox, surprisingly, took it quite well and answered immediately. "I'll be the Village Champion, it's an honor. But if I'm the Champion, who's gonna be the leader?" Lenox viewed this as a position of even greater honor, which is why he had no problem with the change. It declared that he was the strongest. At least, that's how he thought of it in order to quell the humiliation of having lost to Finn moments ago.  

"I thought you'd ask", said Finn with a smug face. "I propose we make Joseph the Village leader."

Planet Earth went through great change. Continents moved around and completely reshaped Earth’s layout. Animals mutated, becoming incredibly powerful blood-thirsty creatures, and attacked cities in waves. 

The cities that failed to defends themselves were destroyed and branded as “restricted zones”. The cities that survived the waves of mutated animals were the ones that were able to harness the same foreign power that mutated the animals, giving birth to abilities. The cities that survived the calamity, eventually learned why everything happened...but the select few that survived in the restricted area didn’t. 

Finn Ragon, a 16-year old boy clueless to what happened to Planet Earth, is curious to know how and why everything happened.

While Negary was in the Flame world, his temperament was always very aggressive, humans were no different from pieces of bread in his eyes, food to be consumed.

As such, whenever humans looked at him, they would feel the sense of primal fear that originated from their instincts, an extreme sense of discomfort and danger of having each and every cell in their body dominated by another. His existence itself was a provocation to their wits and reason.

But that was because everything was a lot more transparent in that world. The principle of the weak being prey to the strong was a lot more obvious, and having strength also meant having a great sense of charm and charisma. It was for this reason that most people chose to pledge their allegiance to Negary rather than the alternatives.

Although the nature of worshipping the strong had not changed, it had been clothed with a layer of so-called 'civility'. Towards the primal fear that Negary inflicted on them, the people here felt rejection instead of acceptance, unable to cope with the barbaric power that he exuded.

This was a different environment with different customs and rules. In this place, the perception of 'humanity' was strong, people sympathized with the weak, and being weak was actually an advantage to be used in reasoning, therefore, Negary would need to adjust himself accordingly.

Currently, Negary's aggressiveness has been restrained. He was simply reading a magazine with a gentle smile on his face, his every movement was extremely well-coordinated, giving off a sense of warmth and closeness similar to that of the gentle spring breeze.

If someone looked at him, he would quickly notice and smile back. This extreme charm and charisma caused the faces of the female staff members here to flush red, even the male staff members would feel a sense of proud accomplishment as they received his smile, the same feeling that they had after being praised by their boss for a job well done.

Clearly, he was a suspect who was escorted back to be investigated, even wearing special handcuffs on his wrists, but as he sat in the D.E.R division's office, it actually felt like this entire place belonged to him instead.

This caused the two men, Xiao Ba Fu and Zhang Zi Jie, to feel terrified. As they occasionally glanced at the person who was in the middle of reading, the thought that they had made a mistake and had caught the wrong person would even flash in their minds.

After regaining their senses, their sense of deep-seated fear would deepen, convincing them that this person was definitely not human.

If they hadn't seen the three people who had become literal living bags of bones as well as the fear in their eyes at the time, they would have likely been conquered by this person's charm as well.

Negary looked up, put down the magazine in his hand and looked at the capable-looking woman in front of him.

"Please come with me, mister traveller from another world" Seven said calmly without being disturbed by his charms.

〖 As you wish, ma'am 〗Negary stood up and followed Seven into the office.

"We meet at last; I had thought that you would keep remaining in hiding" Chang Xia loudly declared as they met and looked straight at Negary.

〖 Please forgive a traveller's sense of hesitation as he arrives at an unfamiliar place 〗Negary answered indifferently with a smile.

"I certainly haven't seen any hesitation in you thus far" Chang Xia replied with a smirk.

However, Negary simply smiled back without a care. In truth, even if those two D.E.R division's people hadn't arrived at the scene, Negary would have still 'turned himself in'.

Unlike the Flame world that was still in the Middle Ages, this Disaster world was governed by law and order, a criminal would never be accepted by society, thus making it inconvenient for Negary's future actions.

"On day X, month Y, year ZZ, you killed a citizen of our country by the name of Xu Ming, residing in the 6th domain, Area 14, 101st Street. Do you admit this?" Chang Xia slammed the table and asked straight.

Looking at the furious Chang Xia, Negary felt several lines of sight locked closely onto him from various locations. He would face a barrage of simultaneous attacks as soon as he made any sudden movements.

〖 Back then, I was in a critical state as I entered this new world. In a state of unconsciousness with my survival instincts, I did kill a person. I admit that 〗Negary's expression perfectly showed regret.
〖 Of course, if you are able to keep his body intact, I can resurrect him 〗as soon as Negary's words came out, he could sense the heavy breathing of several people.

Negary smiled softly. Despite being dressed in the cloak of 'civility', the nature of humans was still as transparent as ever: to survive and reproduce.

To a certain extent, reproduction could be considered a part of 'survival' as well.

As soon as Negary threw the bargaining chip of 'resurrection' onto the table, he was sure that he would be convicted, but the punishment could be mitigated or even exempted.

As for whether or not Negary actually had the ability to resurrect people, that depended on this world's level of knowledge. Despite having the power of Disaster Authority, this world's understanding of the soul was pathetically little. All Negary would have to do was compile a fake secondary soul, infuse that into the other party's body, then use germs to reactivate the body and create the effect of 'resurrection'.

〖 If the time of death wasn't too long ago and the body remained intact, as long as I have access to a few personal artifacts of the deceased, I am able to resurrect them. There might be some left-over side effects, but they will have indeed been resurrected 〗Negary's tone was very natural, as if he was simply stating a commonly accepted fact.

Coupled with Negary's extreme sense of charisma, his words were very convincing.

"Enough! This isn't time for you to flaunt your abilities" Chang Xia's expression was cold. From the very start, he didn't have much hope of being able to actually punish Negary, and as soon as the other party mentioned 'resurrection', his hope had only gotten even slimmer.

Being a member of this system, he knew exactly how dirty it actually was. He himself had also done things that would warrant him the death penalty many times over, for example, killing a civilian who blocked Fang Ze's path, as well as many other things that had crossed far over the line.

In the eyes of the upper echelons, benefit was valued above all else. Never mind the death of a civilian or a bit of inner-city chaos, even the death of the [Medical Malpractice] Authority Holder didn't mean a single thing to them.

"You've also implanted those germs into the bodies of our citizens, making me believe that you might be trying to spread a plague. Additionally, you're suspected to be encouraging Luo Fu, Zuo Yu Xiao and the others to disrupt public order, as well as being behind the murder of Zhao Shi Chang, while also causing damage to civilians and public property"

〖 I can give an explanation to each of those charges 〗 Negary replied with a calm tone that wasn't too fast or too slow: 〖 You can think of the germs implanted in their bodies as a gift. The human body has its limits, a lot of which those germs can make up for due to their characteristics 〗
〖 The germs that I gifted them have the effects of extending their lifespans, curing and preventing them from various diseases, as well as granting them the power you call Disasforce 〗Negary put down another bargaining chip.

As soon as Chang Xia heard him, he understood that it was hopeless to try and punish the person in front of him.

He was pleading guilty to his charges, but so what if he was? With the bargaining chips he had just handed over, the punishments given out to him would be the same as no punishment at all.

"I hope your mouth will be just as skillful as it is now when you're in front of the Disaster Management court" Chang Xia regained his senses and coldly replied.

Within the darkness, he was harmoniously chanting, he was smiling, as he knows he would finally become one with his God.
And all of this started with a remnant soul that was deceived into travelling to a different world and had his Protagonist Aura stolen.

The Greengrass family has always been known for their relative neutrality, which makes the family's summer party one of the few social events to bring together all the families of the wizarding world regardless of their political ideals.
Although the room is divided into two distinct groups, you can see some people traveling between the two. Some, however, avoid mixing together as if the other group was a carrier of venereal disease, notably the Potters and the Malfoys.
The youngest copying the behavior of their parents, two very distinct groups had also formed. Taking advantage of one of the rare privileges offered by belonging to a neutral family, I decide to change the mood for once and head for Potter's group. They don't seem happy to see me.
"Good evening, gentlemen, ladies. How's your vacation going so far?" A little civility to break the ice and take the temperature.
"How about you go over there to see if I'm there, Bones." And Ron is still true to himself.
"Ronald, we are at a social event, I know you don't mind the concept but there is a minimum of decorum to respect, including the politeness of greeting me back even if you don't like me."
"Good evening to you too, Mr. Bones. We were just having a conversation about how you couldn't help but make a fuss during the Four House Cup handover." At least Potter is playing along. I wish he understood why I did it in the end, but hey, I can't really expect it from a boy of almost twelve.
"Understand me, if we had been in a hero school, I would have been the first to give you an award for your performance. Unfortunately, we are enrolled in a witchcraft school with very specific internal rules. I was not able to leave breaches of the rule give the cup to Gryffindor when the other houses have worked so hard all year to be ahead of you on the leaderboards. " Touched and flowed.

"Only half, we love you very much little brother, but you are not worth that much in gift wrap"
"Billywig dust," I said, pretending to cough up my sleeve.
I move away with Fred and George under the reproving gaze of Ron that I see hasten to go tell his mother of my friendship with his two brothers. Oh, how you are going to suffer when they find out that you have cafe, I wouldn't like to be in your place my poor piggy.
I discuss banality with the two brothers then we come to our respective plans for the future. They already have plans to open their joke shops. It's a shame that the brightest minds in the wizarding world limit their abilities to mere pranks, but hey that's their life. If they had ever set out to create real inventions, they could have completely transformed the world.
I eventually find some members of Slytherin that I spend the evening with, Daphe and Draco are the only ones I know among them. Although Crabb and Goyle are there, I don't think they likes me, Draco behaves differently when I'm around and I know seeing their boss hanging out with me makes them angry. On the other hand, I completely understand Draco, to whom the absence of neurons from these two must be causing quite a headache.
I ended up inviting Daphne to dance out of boredom and also because she keeps sending me insistent glances whenever a couple of dancers pass by. Her face lit up when I offered her a slow.
"You really wanted me to invite you at this point."

Now that's a pretty big lie, my mom forced me to practice learning several evening dances for this ball, but a little false modesty can be fun. Daphne's face turns bright red, I may have gone a little too far.
The slow ends with a bow of thanks from the dancers. Many adults look at us with a slightly mocking smile, they are just jealous because they know that my danse partner will become a beautiful young woman in a not-so-distant future.

Mountain God Li opened his beak and picked up the old man, raising his head and swallowing him completely. After, he flapped his wings, transforming into a beam of red light and disappearing into the distance. 
Qin Mu was stunned. When he watched the god and the old man engage in small talk, he had really believed that there was such a rule that one was to serve the mountain god when they were of old age. Thus, he wasn't able to stop him in time. 
He followed behind Mountain God Li. Mountain God Li had flown for several thousand miles before he retracted his wings and landed at a divine mountain. He turned his head around abruptly, and only then did he notice Qin Mu. He hurriedly exclaimed, "Senior Brother, I pay my respects to you!"
Qin Mu nodded his head gently. "Mountain God Li, I watched you eat someone just now, yet he seemed to have enjoyed your conversation with him. What's the reason behind this?" 
Mountain God Li laughed. "Is Senior Brother a foreigner? No wonder you are unaware of the rules here. Our heavens of the south are a place of civility and etiquette, it's where Celestial Venerable Huo teaches. The gods of Southern Heaven live in harmony and peace with the tens of thousands of races in the world. The mortals ask for things from us, such as good weather and plentiful harvests, but we also need to eat. Thus, a rule like this was set. Any normal mortal who has reached the age of 60 will be considered a dead man and will be required to go to the temple and become an offering to the gods." 
Qin Mu questioned, "This was laid down by Celestial Venerable Huo?"
Mountain God Li replied, "Yes. Southern Heaven is a land of civility. We are unlike Western Heaven and Northern Heaven. They are so barbaric. We are also better off than Eastern Heaven."
Qin Mu questioned again, "What about divine arts practitioners? Human divine arts practitioners can live for up to 800 years."
"If a divine arts practitioner fails to become a god after 700 years, he has to enter the temple to worship the gods."
Mountain God Li smiled and said, "If one becomes a god, they become our equal and our brother. It's just that there are few divine arts practitioners in my territory, so I can only eat them once every half a year. Brother, you come at an inopportune time. Qin Mu asked, "What if that man said no? Do you not eat them if they reject?"
Mountain God Li smiled and said, "Brother, your naivete makes you cute! It's merely a formality to ask. We eat them even if we get rejected."
The dragon qilin couldn't help but ask, "What about human gods? Will human gods tolerate you eating their people?"
Mountain God Li smiled and said, "Brother, human gods aren't humans! How high up are gods? Wouldn't one become a laughing stock if others knew that they still thought of themself as a human after becoming a god? Divine arts practitioners train hard for their entire life to become a god high up! If you told human gods that they were still humans, they would be angry and curse at you!"
Qin Mu's murderous intent was triggered before dissipating instantly.
It was the case of Southern Heaven. Killing Mountain God Li wouldn't make a difference.

Qin Mu saw many sects in his tour there. They were sects built by the gods of Southern Heaven. They were nearly identical to those of Eternal Peace in the past.
However, the past sects of Eternal Peace had stood in great numbers. They also controlled normal people's fortunes, lives, deaths, and the conquest of nations to steal land.
However, the sects there loved and respected each other to the point that they never fought.
The peacefulness there was akin to a pool of stagnant water.
Normal people remained that way for their entire lives. The same for their descendants. They never had any chance of making a name for themselves!
Any ambitions, ideals, or research into divine arts to benefit the people were illusions!
Besides, nobody thought that way. Nobody did that.
It was a world so peaceful that it became suffocating.
Qin Mu was solemn. Celestial Venerable Huo seemed to have sheltered the people of Southern Heaven, but in reality, what he did was get the humans there to accept a set fate with no way to free themselves!
He came to a god city, which had a statue of Celestial Venerable Huo erected. It was tall and majestic and had a wheel of fire made from bronze behind its head.
Celestial Venerable Huo's gaze on the statue seemed deep and far. He gazed into the distance in a wise and strong manner.
There were many disciples of Celestial Venerable Huo there. They were teaching their own disciples, imparting the traditional divine treasure and celestial palace system in an orderly fashion, without any changes.
However, when a disciple presented any doubts, they would be reprimanded harshly and even beaten. They would be judged by those around them too.
The divine arts of Celestial Venerable Huo's disciples were nearly identical. Their divine weapons were nearly identical too. Even their clothing was nearly identical.
They wore the same clothes and had the same hairstyles and facial hair. They were full of smiles when meeting people, and they said similar greetings and followed similar formalities.
Qin Mu clenched his fists and went by Celestial Venerable Huo's statue. His robes flew about like a large flag, making a lot of noise in the process.

The tall and majestic statue of Celestial Venerable Huo suddenly collapsed and melted. It became molten bronze, which had devilish flames on it!
Celestial Venerable Huo's disciples hurried over to try and extinguish the devilish fire. Some of them were extremely strong practitioners that reached the Jade Capital Realm and the Numinous Sky Realm.
Celestial Venerable Huo was specialized in fire divine arts. The paths, skills, and divine arts he passed down largely related to fire too. His disciples' attainments in that path were so extraordinary that they became well known in the celestial heavens! 
Yet, none of them knew what to do against the devilish flames. They couldn't extinguish the flames at all.
"Get Big Brother!"
The masses panicked and called out, "Get Big Brother, quickly!"
Suddenly, an emperor's awe filled the city. An Emperor's Throne being dressed almost exactly like Celestial Venerable Huo flew out. He went on top of the flames and utilized his divine art to suppress it while hollering, "Extinguish!"

The flames burnt on, brightening the face of the Emperor's Throne being. He was visibly embarrassed.
Qin Mu was nearby and watched this scene coldly. He hated him, for he wanted him to get better. He remarked, "He doesn't know how to adapt because he hasn't learned to before. Celestial Venerable Huo nurtured a pile of garbage!"

Rosaline eyed her plate, letting silence linger between her and Sierra. Drake would be disappointed with her if she didn't at least try to swallow the burden of befriending Sierra. Rosaline sighed. She didn't want to disappoint Drake.
"My apologies, Sierra. Drake likes you and Kyle. I won't have him angry with me for the way I'm treating you. Besides, I need another woman in this house that I can speak with other than Jeanette. Even though she's cared for our family all my life, she lacks sensitivity when it comes to matters of the heart. Can we start over?"
"I am willing to." Sierra exhaled. Her somber mood brightened a little. She relaxed and took a sip of orange juice from a crystal goblet.
Rosaline smiled weakly. "Drake would like you to attend the ball. So, you must come. You owe him that much, don't you?"
"Actually, Drake has been kind enough to free me from any debts to him, but if he wants me to attend, then I will," Sierra conceded.
"Good. It's settled. I told Drake I would help you become more familiar with our customs. My advice may help you adjust. The people attending this party are ruthless, and they'll eat you up like vultures if given a chance. I hope to teach you a few things. First, about this. Can you tell me about this table setting? It is imperative to know the difference between buttering knives, salad forks, and soup spoons when a meal is served. Last night during dinner, you didn't seem to know the difference," Rosaline said pointedly.
"Well, I don't know how table settings should look." Sierra fidgeted in her chair.
Rosaline gaped, realizing her task of readying Sierra might prove to be as daunting as challenging.?
"First lesson. Never eat quickly or stuff your mouth. Never make noises while you are eating." Rosaline continued in one breath.
"Never eat so much of one portion that you attract attention, as some people do with butter or cheese. Never hesitate to take the last piece of cake; there is probably more."

"That was lesson one?" Sierra gasped.
Amused, Rosaline lectured with a twinkle in her eye. "Remember, boisterous talking and laughing prove that you are of lower station. Never stare at people, which is also evidence of poor manners. When you make an entrance into any room, you should not walk too quickly. It is ungraceful," Rosaline stressed. "And you must know how to sweep your dress so that you do not become entangled in the fabric. You must never lose your balance, fall over, or trip on your gown. Shall we practice?"
Sierra listened to Rosaline's every word and demonstration as the morning hours stretched long into the afternoon. 
She didn't think she could possibly hold all the information inside her head and wished she had a quill, ink, and stationery to take notes. "How do you know so much?" Sierra asked, finally.
"All debutantes attending a finishing school, are made to study the Rules of Civility and Decent Behaviour, Rules of Etiquette and Home Culture, and Hill's Manual of Social and Business Forms, sensibly written books about the proper etiquette that New Orleans Society adheres to. I ran away from debutante school three times to Newhaven to be free of it all and ride horses all day, but I did learn something while there," Rosaline giggled.?
Sierra succumbed to laughter. Following these arduous rules of etiquette seemed pointless and unnatural. It was no wonder Rosaline had fled debutante school.
"It may all sound ridiculous to you, but it is all essential."
"And all too exhausting," Sierra remarked, wondering how she would remember every detail tomorrow night. Interwoven with all the drollery that Rosaline was teaching her, there was a healthy dose of common sense one must have.?
"Thank you for the lessons, Rosaline," Sierra said, although her entire body felt limp with exhaustion. Rosaline certainly knew how to sap the strength out of her.?
"You're very welcome." Rosaline curtsied.
Sierra cleared her throat. "You know, Kyle's not so bad once you get to know him. You might like him. He shares your passion for riding. I, for one, have never felt comfortable on a horse." Sierra shook her head, conveying her dislike for riding.
Rosaline fiddled with the necklace she was wearing. What if there was common ground between her and Kyle? Kyle had no manners and acted as if he were raised in the wild. But despite all of her misgivings, she could try to see him as his loving sister did. Rosaline did acknowledge to herself that she did feel a peculiar excitement in Kyle's presence. Although she quickly discounted that the feeling was mutual. 
Kyle was one of the first men Rosaline had met who didn't show any interest in her. He didn't seem to care if she existed one way or another. First impressions were often right, she told herself. Better to consider Kyle an oaf and have nothing to do with him.
"Come, Sierra, let's go upstairs and rummage through your closet to see what you might wear to the ball." Rosaline dismissed any further thoughts of Kyle.
Rosaline's response or lack thereof concerning Kyle was not what Sierra had hoped for, but she decided it was best to let the matter rest.
Rosaline's eyes lit up upon entering Sierra's room. "Splendid,this is one of my favorite rooms in the house, other than the one I chose for myself."?
Sierra watched Rosaline as she approached the enormous walk-in closet. Seeing it not a quarter-full, Rosaline turned to Sierra, alarm flashing across her face.
"Is this all you've brought with you?" Rosaline asked, searching through the limited selection of clothing that dangled before her.
Sierra nodded.
"Oh, these dresses will never do." Rosaline shook her head. She looked Sierra up and down.?
"We don't have time to go into the city today to find the proper dress for you. It will be evening soon, and tomorrow it will take most of the day to ready ourselves." Rosaline sighed her frustration.
"Why will it take so long? For the stage, I can prepare," Sierra clipped her words. She mentally chastised herself. Rosaline wouldn't like hearing about her past frolicking around in a saloon in Jadesville.
Like a cat that caught the canary, Rosaline pressed Sierra. "For the stage, you could prepare what?"
Sierra cleared her throat. "For staging myself as a lady of Society, I can prepare quickly enough."
"Don't see it as a stage performance. You must become this Society lady. This ball is the first event of many for you. Now, let's see, you and I are about the same size."?
Rosaline held her hands up into the air as if she were making a clay mold of Sierra. Sierra was a bit bustier, curvier, and a few inches taller.
"I may have something for you yet." Rosaline grabbed Sierra's hands and dragged her out of the bedroom, along the hall and down the staircase.
"Where are we going?" Sierra followed with haste.
"We are going to my room, of course. I have dresses that I have not worn that still need alterations, but many of them might be a perfect fit for you. We must find Jeanette so that she can help us. Don't let me forget to remind her to have your measurements sent to my seamstress in the city right away. You are going to need a suitable wardrobe if you wish to be acceptable here."
Sierra slightly shivered while smiling at Rosaline. She didn't know if she was going to be here long enough to become acceptable, but she would not insult Rosaline by telling her this.

"Very good, Kyle, Ryan, your classmate is apologizing sincerely, what should you do?" Mr. Tran was trying to encourage civility between the two. Everyone knew what triggered Ryan. 
It was good, from his perspective that Kyle was trying to apologize. Ryan wasn't as impressed. Every time he got into a tight spot he liked to push his button on this point. 
"Sure, no problem, I accept your apology," Ryan said with a stiff smile. 
The way Kyle interacted with the four students he hurt versus how he interacted with Ryan showed everyone one thing. 
Kyle was someone who would own up to his mistakes, but if you wronged him he would sink his teeth into you and not let go. 
They all knew Ryan was putting on a show for Mr. Tran so they didn't take his apology seriously. 
The boys shook the hands of each other but Kyle didn't let go.
"Is that enough?" he asked.
"Just a couple of more seconds," Gramps said.
"Hey, can you let go of my hand?" Ryan asked.
"What are you afraid of? I'm just trying to show you how sincere I am," Kyle said.
"Okay, you can let go now," Gramps said. Kyle; let go immediately and sat down at his desk. Ryan wasn't sure if he should be upset or exasperated. He gave a huff and returned to his seat. 
"Hey, Gramps, what was all of that about?"
"I don't want to say anything, but I might have a special reward for you if you can win against Ryan," he said mysteriously.
"What are my chances?" he asked.
"It'll be hard if you don't plan out things carefully. Just having Lemonjello's abilities are going to make him a tough opponent. 
If I were you, I'd be worried," Gramps was laughing as the sound slowly faded away.  
Kyle knew Gramps was right, the quantity and the quality of Ryan's powers would make him an almost unstoppable opponent. 
He thought when he came back taking care of Ryan would be as easy as flipping his hand over. He was a little disappointed, but at the same time, he always wanted to compete with Ryan fairly. 
If he could be a fully prepared and super-powered Ryan then the accomplishment of beating him would be unbelievably valuable. Just thinking about it made him excited. 
A glowing flame burned in his eyes as he began to make plans for the battle.

The nearly two weeks of time seemed to pass in almost an instant, like reading from one line to the next in a book. 
At the end of the school day on Thursday; the entire school turned out to watch the fight between Kyle and Ryan. 
Over the last several days; the principal did some investigating and determined there wasn't enough evidence to accuse Ryan of stealing the powers of others. 
However, there was enough evidence so that everyone, including the principal, knew what Ryan was doing. Ryan was finally exposed to the two-faced bully that he was. 
He was no longer allowed to come to school without wearing special gloves that could be used to steal others' powers.  
No one looked at Ryan the same. Even the teachers would accidentally reveal their feelings about this boy from time to time. He felt like an outcast now. He now understood what he did to others.
Instead of causing him to repent for his past actions; it caused a burned hatred fro Kyle to grow. Every time he thought about Kyle and what he did to him; his anger would run out of control.
The two boys faced off against one another in the battle arena.
"I'm going to destroy you! I'll crush you like a bug, G-Hawk!" Ryan spat. He was wearing his Red Ace costume. It was pretty straight forward. 
It was an utterly red costume with white trim, with a black letter 'A' inside a white spade on his chest. A small domino mask sat on his face.
Kyle's G-Hawk costume was also red, but it was dark red. It had a blue cape, blue gloves, and boots, a cape clasp with a letter 'H' in the center, plus a letter "G' on each shoulder. He wore a red mask. 
"I would be really impressed if you could crush me, Red Ace," Kyle said.
"I guess we'll just have to see who crushes who," Ryan said. 
Coach Calligan dressed as a referee in a white and black shirt and black pants stepped into the battle ring. 
"Today, we have Red Ace and G-Hawk in a grudge match. The rules are simple, the winner is the one who knocks out his opponent, causes him to concede the fight, or forces him out of the arena. 
No hitting below the belt, eye-gouging, or other malicious attacks. You must not kill your opponent. This is a fight between classmates, not mortal enemies. If you understand the rules please tell me," Coach said.
Both boys nodded and grunted their understanding. 
"Good, then, FIGHT!"

It's not so easy to make it as a superhero these days. In the golden age of heroes, it didn't matter what kind of ability you had. 

If you had an ability, dressed up in bright colors, and came up with a crazy name; you had it made. You were a hero. 
The world isn't so simple anymore. Kyle Kane is finding life as a teenage superhero to be worse than a pimple on prom night. 

Eliminated from his team and forced into normal classes, Kyle's F class powers have doomed him to harassment and mediocrity.  Then one day, he gets a cranky message from a system. "I'm your system, congratulations, blah blah blah."

The atmosphere and tension inside Shitu shrine was almost palpable. The top brass were holed up in an emergency meeting. This meeting was proving taxing taking into account the mounting tensions outside of Shitu shrine, between Mariani and Lekuta villages.

Following the extra ordinary head scribe meeting that lasted hours, several rules were passed down. All grudges and internal scuffles were henceforth banned within the shrine. Shitu shrine prided itself in bringing together the most promising talents of the two communities and making warriors out of them.

Any clashes apart from normal training would be treated with extreme prejudice and any and all participants involved would be shamefully disqualified and be labelled outcasts from Shitu and from both communities as well.

The extremity of the new rules produced the intended deterrence immediately. 

The next day the heavily bandaged Johari Tembo and Moseti Kalibari were summoned to the Supreme Head Scribes yard. A move that surprised all as that particular yard was strictly off limits to initiates and scribes alike. Only the respected head scribes enjoyed access to this revered yard but they too had to be summoned. 

It was unknown the kind of discussion that took place but afterwards the two rivals maintained a level of civility and distance.

It was in this atmosphere that the young warriors completed the last phase of weapons training. After many moons and sunrises the young warriors slowly but surely perfected the art of the spear and sword as well as training in the bow and arrow. 

On the last day of training, the proud young warriors lined up before the three head scribes who inspected each and every one of them with satisfied expressions.

D.Day Arrived.

*Inside Supreme Head Scribe Ole Gatu's Yard.  
The large quiet yard that was usually devoid of people was in full capacity today. For many it was their first time to step into the great esteemed elders premises. The pathways and scenery inside was pristine and quiet. 

At the very top sat Ole Gatu on his large majestic oak seat looking down at everyone and everything. Next to him his three trusted head scribes sat solemnly, below them their deputies and further below sat the various scribes in charge of day to day proceedings of Shitu Shrine. 

Ahead of them was a large spectacular stage set up for the final warrior ceremony that would culminate the long arduous warrior training that had taken many months of hard work and input from the entire shrine as well as the young warriors.

On the far right of the stage was a large rack of weapons. The refined steel from the warrior spears and swords gleamed and glinted with unusual sharpness. On the far left of the stage, all the participating young warriors stood proudly. They wore fervent looks of excitement and pride. Their eyes shone with ambition and anticipation.

It had been nothing but hard sweat and pain for them to be standing there today and each of them held onto their lofty warrior dreams and hopes. 

All these would come true this very day. This was what they had been working towards ever since they first stepped into Shitu shrine. Head scribe Ole Gatu turned and nodded towards head scribe Kondobia and the sturdy mountain of a man got up and walked towards the final stage to begin the long awaited proceedings.

"This is the final stage of your warrior training. On this very stage you will bring forth all that you have learnt so far as warriors. Depending on your performances you will be officially ranked and bestowed upon warriorship." His voice boomed striking deep the hearts of the young warriors.

"This final ceremony is straight forward. Each of you will face a warrior scribe on this stage. You are allowed to choose your preferred weapons from the weapons rack on your left."

"Your goal is today future warriors is to engage your opponents in fierce battle. Your opponents will show you no mercy."

Head scribe Kondobia held out his muscular arm to display a medium sized hemp rope that had two knots tied on it.

"This will be your timer. When you step up on this stage, this fire resistant Kholi thorn tree hemp rope will be lit and it will slowly burn upon this happening."

"Anyone who is defeated before this Kholi thorntree rope has burned up to its first knot will be deemed a failure. Anyone who is able to hold out until it burns through to its first knot shall have passed the first stage."

"Here you will be given a choice, to either continue with the fight or to stop at this point. Anyone who continues and holds out until the second knot shall have passed the second stage."

"All who reach the second phase and still wish to continue will be given a chance to do so as well."

"Any questions!" Head scribe Kondobia's huge voice explained the final ceremony and asked curtly. His stern gaze passed through the young warrior ranks. Although he had asked the question at the end, it was unerringly obvious that he would not entertain any questions.

This was the final warrior ceremony after all and non-sensical queries would not be tolerated. Pleased by the complete silence the young warriors displayed he continued.

"Of course those of you who are able to incapacitate their opponents will receive the highest qualification."

"These capable individuals will be left behind for the ultimate warrior ceremony under the guidance of our supreme head scribe." The head scribe ignored the obvious change the last piece of information had brought about in the young warriors faces.

"Alright! Lets get on with it. You shall enter the stage according to the numbers which were previously handed out to you as you entered."

"Remember this is what you all have been training so hard for!"

"You will get no second chances."

"Show us what a warrior is made of!" Head scribe Kondobia concluded and walked back to his seat.

"Let the final warrior ceremony begin."

The atmosphere and tension inside Shitu shrine was almost palpable. The top brass were holed up in an emergency meeting. This meeting was proving taxing taking into account the mounting tensions outside of Shitu shrine, between Mariani and Lekuta villages. 

Following the extra ordinary head scribe meeting that lasted hours, several rules were passed down. All grudges and internal scuffles were henceforth banned within the shrine. Shitu shrine prided itself in bringing together the most promising talents of the two communities and making warriors out of them. 

Any clashes apart from normal training would be treated with extreme prejudice and any and all participants involved would be shamefully disqualified and be labelled outcasts from Shitu and from both communities as well. 

The extremity of the new rules produced the intended deterrence immediately. 

The next day the heavily bandaged Johari Tembo and Moseti Kalibari were summoned to the Supreme Head Scribes yard. A move that surprised all as that particular yard was strictly off limits to initiates and scribes alike. Only the respected head scribes enjoyed access to this revered yard but they too had to be summoned. 

It was unknown the kind of discussion that took place but afterwards the two rivals maintained a level of civility and distance. 

It was in this atmosphere that the young warriors completed the last phase of weapons training. After many moons and sunrises the young warriors slowly but surely perfected the art of the spear and sword as well as training in the bow and arrow. 

On the last day of training, the proud young warriors lined up before the three head scribes who inspected each and every one of them with satisfied expressions.
