"I'm fine... I am ok." I reapetedly told myself to the point that the pain went away completely. I tried to see where I was now, 'Huh, I'm still in the same room?" I thought to myself while looking around. "Well at least they let me off the bed," I touch the wall and hesitated from the cold, I pulled myself up off the ground and waltzed to the door. It was wedged out of its place and jammed halfway into the mirror/window. Limping through the door. 'I might not feel pain but I still can have injuries.' I look left to see a long long hallway with a door close to the side I look at a sign and can't understand what it means the door was also left ajar and dripping with blood. I walk into the room and a chill enters my spine as I gasp and try to calm myself before the pain comes back. The room was covered in corpses and blood the walls had guns and knives and body armor covered in blood, I grab a rustic looking knife from all the blood and the only gun that still functions was a single shot 9mm pistol. I limp my way through the door. The place looked like it was built like a maze. I run my fingers along the wall to keep my balance as I walked in a half sneaking/limping waltz.

A lone girl was playing a new VRMMO when suddenly something went terribly wrong.

She watched as pieces of images of her niece formed in the blaze.

Hellenia Azreal was currently fighting a beast with only her wit and sword. Her rogiae stood at the side of the battle watching with distaste la.

Yerga chuckled lowly, seeing her work pay off in the flames. She rubbed her now healed hands together vigorously. "I told you not to piss me off woman, you'll be dead soon and your soul will be mine."

She tossed her staff into the fire waiting for chaos to begin.

"Are you ready?" Cage called. He was nervous. Which was unusual for him. But that day was the exception to the rule. He wanted everything to be perfect. He glanced at his phone and tried to control the urge to check it for the hundredth time. It was time and he was freaking out. 
He had to get it together. He should have given her more warning but he hadn't. This felt so much more than the first red carpet he had walked on.
Katherine was in the bathroom, getting ready. He had bought a dress he thought would look lovely on her and taken Angelina and Lily's help to get the measurements perfect. It wasn't a grand dress that cost a fortune. Instead, he bought something Katherine could wear later if she wanted. They had talked about the wedding and she had raised the concern about how expensive and wasteful wedding dresses were. In that light, he went with her wishes and bought a pleasant, flowy dress in a style she liked. 
The bouquet was chosen by Lily, too, as she knew what Katherine liked. Henrick was in charge of everything else. Everyone had flown into the city and booked the small venue promptly without Katherine noticing anything. 
"Done!" she screamed as she came out. She turned to him, showing him the back. "Zip me up," she said with a coy smile. 
"Are you trying to rouse the beast in me?" he asked, gulping. They didn't have time for that. And he looked so beautiful that it would be blasphemous to ruin it. 
"The zipper goes down to my butt. I can't reach all of it," she admitted. She wriggled her butt to make a point and laughed. Cage chuckled and zipped the dress up slowly, suddenly realizing that it was happening. 
The dress fit perfectly. 
"You didn't specify the accessories, so I improvised." She bit her lip and looked in the mirror. "I look like I will walk down the aisle at any moment."
Cage pressed back the laugh and patted her back. "What accessories did you wear?" he asked. He had arranged for his mother to bring all the necessary things but didn't give them to Katherine lest she caught wind of his plan.
"I wore this old earring that was passed down from my grandmother, This hairpin that I borrowed from Angelina, the ring I bought off the internet, and this hairpin, too. They look good together and go with the dress. What do you think?"
Cage looked her over, not noticing the main point.
"You look amazing," he complicated. "Now, let's go!" he said, pulling on her hand. She smirked behind his back. 
"Hold your horses. Are we catching a train or is your pant on fire?" she teased. She didn't protest as he pulled her along. 
"My pant is on fire," he admitted. They drove in silence. After months, Cage drove himself. Stephen was at the venue making sure no paparazzi or reporters had caught wind of the situation.
Katherine didn't ask questions and let Cage have his moment. She rolled her eyes internally when he opened the door for her and extended his hand. She grabbed it and was pulled out immediately. 
They went through the front door of a cozy home and exited through the backyard. At this point, Katherine was slightly confused. 
'Where is the venue?' she thought. But when she saw the backyard, she gasped. No, it was not the people present who surprised her... she had expected that... but the decoration. 
On one side, a long table was placed. It was covered by white sheets and the chairs looked rustic and so on point with the house. The fairy lights placed overhead caught her attention and she felt tears prickle. 
She felt like a teenage girl who had the dream room come to life. 
On the other side, a little stage was made and chairs of the same rustic variety placed for their benefit. 
"Surprise!" Angelina shouted. 
Katherine looked at them meaningfully. "You didn't do a good job of hiding this from me. I am shocked by how beautiful everything is, though!" She really was. 
"You knew?" Cage yelled. 
Katherine turned to him with a sheepish expression. "Yes. Angelina and Lily asking me about any changes in size. Dad creepily grumbling about an upcoming plane trip that I wasn't invited to. And you and Stephen running around and evading my questions. I figured."
"It could have been a number of things, you know?" Lily countered. 
"The white dress was a giveaway," she shrugged. "And do you really think this would be a good idea if I wasn't informed that I was getting married? What would you guys do if I turned into a bridezilla?" Cage's face went pale. 
"I love everything," she reassured. "Now, let's get married."
The others found out that she had followed tradition in picking out her accessories. Some were pleased, others shook their head at how stupid Cage was. 
The small wedding was full of tears and joyful laughter. 
Her father even made some comments about how Cage hadn't asked for his permission first. If he weren't afraid that Katherine would elope, he would have fought tooth and nail to keep her unmarried.
At the end of the day, Katherine looked around and saw the people she loved most. She danced and sang. She drank wine. She had just gained a new family. A wonderful new family. 
And a man she would hold hands with until her hair turned grey and her bones disintegrated to ash.

She thought she heard him sniff her hair and his lips lightly grazed her ears as he whispered. "Don't miss the show because of me, little girl." 

Her eyes flickered back to the couple in the car, and she let out a whimper as she saw the man pull at the woman's hair, baring her beck to him, inviting his mouth to lick and suck. She felt ‘him’ close the gap between them, his hard body pressed up against hers, his arms tightly holding her. There was no mistaking what she felt on her lower back and she closed her eyes in delight.

Momonga sat on a chair and looked at the mirror before him. The roughly one meter wide mirror did not reflect Momonga's face, but a patch of grass. The mirror was like a television set, showing images of a distant plain.


The grass of the plains swayed in the wind, proving it was not a still image.


As time passed, the sun slowly rose, its light banishing the darkness that covered the plains. This pastoral scene, almost poetic in its beauty, was a stark difference from the former location of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, the desolate world of Helheim.


Momonga reached out to the mirror and swiped his hand right. The mirror's image changed.


This was a Mirror of Remote Viewing.


This was a magic item used to display an image of a specific region. It was a very useful item for player-killers, or player-killer-killers. However, there were low level spells which occluded information-gathering spells that could hide people from the mirror's eyes. In addition, it was easy for users to be counterattacked by offensive barriers, so it was an average item at best.


However, for the present circumstances, an item which could show the outside world was a very useful item indeed.


Momonga enjoyed the movie-like quality of the grass within the mirror as the image changed.


"It would seem that I can move the image with a wave of the hand. That way, I won't have to keep looking at the same spot."


The scenery and the angles with which it was viewed changed within the floating mirror. Although he had made several mistakes so far, Momonga kept changing his gestures to alter the landscape within the mirror, hoping that he would find someone. However, up till now, he had not found any intelligent beings — for instance, humans.


He repeated the same simple gestures over and over again, but all the images he got were the same: plains. Momonga was starting to get bored, so he looked at the other person in the room.


"What's wrong, Momonga-sama? I stand ready to heed your every command."


"No, there's nothing, Sebas."


Sebas was the other person in the room. He might have been smiling, but his words seemed to hold some kind of subtext. Although Sebas was absolutely loyal to him, he had objected to Momonga's excursion to the surface without bringing his followers along.


Indeed, just after Momonga returned from the surface, Sebas had accosted and lectured him.


Momonga said what was on his heart.


"What will I do with him…"


Being with Sebas made Momonga think of his guildmate Touch Me. After all, Touch Me-san was the one who had designed Sebas.


Still, he didn't have to make him so similar to himself. Even the way Sebas gets angry reminds me of him.


After grumbling in his heart, Momonga looked back to the mirror.


Momonga's plan was to teach Demiurge the hard-learned lessons of how to control the magic mirror. This was what Momonga had meant when he spoke to Demiurge about another security net.


Although it would have been simpler to leave this task to his subordinates, Momonga wanted to handle this task personally. The truth was that he wanted to use his can-do working attitude to inspire and gain the respect of his subordinates. Therefore he could not be seen to give up halfway. Still, why can't I switch to a higher vantage point? If only there were a manual… With these thoughts in mind, Momonga went about the painstaking work of figuring the mirror's controls out by boring, repetitive trial and error.


He did not know how long it had been.


It might have only been a while, but so far his work had not borne fruit, and he could not help but feel like this was all a waste of time.


Momonga casually waved his hand with a vacant expression, and his field of vision suddenly expanded.


"Oh!"


Surprise, delight, pride, Momonga's exclamation was filled with all of these. At his wit's end, he made a random gesture and the screen suddenly did as he wanted. This was a cry of joy one would expect out of a programmer who had pulled eight hour's worth of overtime.


Cheering and clapping answered him. The source of these two sounds was Sebas.


"Congratulations, Momonga-sama. Your servant Sebas stands in awe of your prowess."


Granted, this was the fruit of extensive trial and error, so you don't need to go that far. Momonga thought that, but when he saw that Sebas looked quite happy, he decided to humbly accept the butler's praise.


"Thank you, Sebas. Although I apologize for making you accompany me for so long."
What are you saying? Staying by your side and obeying your orders is the reason for a butler's existence, Momonga-sama. There is no need to thank or apologize to me… although, it is true that this process took quite some time. Momonga-sama, would you like to take a break?"


"No, there is no need for that. Undead like myself are not affected by negative statuses like fatigue. If you're tired, you may go and rest."


"Thank you for your kindness, but it would be unthinkable for a butler to rest while his master worked. With the aid of magic items, I am not affected by fatigue either. Please allow me to stay by your side until the end, Momonga-sama."


Momonga realised one thing from his conversations with the NPCs; namely, they casually used game terms in their speech. For instance, skills, job classes, items, levels, negative statuses, and so on. If he could use game terms with them in an unironic way, it might be easier to give them orders.


After agreeing to Sebas's request, he continued studying the ways to control the mirror. Finally he discovered a method to adjust the height of his viewpoint.


Momonga smiled in satisfaction, and began looking for a populated area.


Finally, an image of something like a village appeared on the mirror.


It was located roughly ten kilometers south of Nazarick. There was a forest nearby, and wheat fields surrounded a settlement. It appeared to be a rustic farming village. By the looks of things, the village itself was not very developed.


As Momonga zoomed in on the village, he felt that something was amiss.


"...Are they holding a festival?"


People were running in and out of their houses this early in the morning. They looked panicked.


"No, that is not a festival."


That steely voice came from Sebas, who was watching the display with a keen look in his eye as he stood beside Momonga.


There was an undercurrent of disgust in Sebas's stern words. As Momonga enlarged the image, he too furrowed his nonexistent brows.


Fully armored knights were swinging their longswords at the villagers, who were dressed in rough clothes.


It was a massacre.


A villager fell with every swing of a knight's sword. The villagers could not resist them, and could only run away. The knights pursued and killed the fleeing villagers. There were horses eating the grain in the field. Those horses must have belonged to the knights.


"Cheh!"


Momonga scoffed, intending to change the image. This village had no value to him. If he could extract more information from it, perhaps he might have a reason to save them. But as things stood, there was no reason to save this village.


He should abandon them.


Momonga was taken aback by how he could make such a heartless decision. A cruel slaughter was occurring before his eyes, but the only thing he could think of was the good of Nazarick. There was nothing like pity, anger, or worry, basic human emotions anyone should have.


It felt like he was watching a TV show about animals and insects, where the strong ate the weak.


Could it be that as one of the undead, he no longer considered himself part of humanity?


No, how could that be?


Momonga struggled to find an excuse to justify his thinking.


He was not an agent of justice.


He was level one hundred, but like he had told Mare, this world's commoners might well be level one hundred as well. Therefore, he could not tread blindly into this unknown world. Although it looked like the knights were conducting a one-sided slaughter of the villagers, there might be other reasons at work here which he did not know about. Reasons like "illness, judgement, setting an example," and others like them kept appearing in his mind. And if he stepped in and defeated the knights, he might earn the ire of the country they belonged to.

After announcing it will be discontinuing all service, the internet game ‘Yggdrasil’ shut down… That was the plan, but for some reason, the player character did not log out some time after the server was closed. NPCs start to become sentient. A normal youth who loves gaming in the real world seemed to have been transported into an alternate world along with his guild, becoming the strongest mage with the appearance of a skeleton, Momonga. He leads his guild ‘Ainz Ooal Gown’ towards an unprecedented legendary fantasy adventure!

   
    I blinked my open to pale grey ceiling, looking at the cracks and bumps on it. I sighed to the emptiness of my studio apartment. I got up from my bed, feeling the grogginess weigh me down. I slept in only my boxers and the cold air air nipped at me as I walked to the bathroom. I opened the cabinet behind my mirror and grabbed my toothbrush and sloppy squeezed some toothpaste onto it. I placed the brush in my mouth and studied my face in the mirror. My black color bone-length hair laid messily on my head, the bed head still defined. My eyes were droopy and there were dark circles under my blue eyes, the dark circles did not compliment my tan skin. I studied the rest of my body, I was decently muscular, I had more abs then biceps, but I was still strong. I stood at 6 foot 2 inches at 25 years old and I wore thin circular glasses, I worked as an editor at The New York Times building. I didn't work on the main floor where all the big things happened, just one of the editing floors.
    I walked out of the bathroom and grabbed some slacks,a white button up, my brown dress shoes and some black socks. I slipped on my pants, socks and shoes and then my white tank top that I wore under my button up. I put on my glasses that were on my nightstand, grabbed my phone,wallet and keys and slipped them in my pocket then grabbed my coat and dashed out the door. I headed out the building and into New York's harsh winter chill. I shivered as the cold breeze hit my face, brrrr. I grabbed my gloves from my pocket and pulled them on and buttoned my coat up. I walked down the street in the direction of work building and I'd stop at my favorite little bakery and coffee shop.
    I pushed the shop door open, sounding the little bell above it.
    "Hi, welcome!" The cute boy behind the register called out with a bright smile, making eye contact with me for a second. I saw that kid almost everyday, he worked here full time. For being a small shop they got a lot of business, the shop was owned by a man and his family. The shop had a sort of rustic but polished look. I got in line and looked around the noisy shop, there were people at tables, children enjoying the pastries and chattering from every direction. As I got closer to line, I heard the child in front of me asking their mom for a muffin. I couldn't tell exactly what the mother said but she said something about not spending too much money. As they got to the register, the child stared at the glass, his eyes gleaming for the blueberry muffin.
    "Here you go, little guy." The boy behind the register said while handing the muffin to the little boy. The boy's eyes widened with excitement and he took the muffin in his hand.
    "On the house." The boy behind the counter said with a smile. The woman replied with a thank you and took off. I walked towards the counter and I was distracted by my thoughts.
    "The usual?" The cute boy asked me. He knew me because I came so often but we didn't know each other's names.
    "Oh...yes please but can you add a pumpkin muffin?" I asked feeling the blush grow on me, I always felt girly asking for sweets. I looked up and saw how his smile widened even more.
    "Sure thing, the usual Americano and a pumpkin muffin." He said as he pressed my order into the register.
    "$8.54 is your total." I handed him my card,my blush still showing.
    "Um...can I ask your name? I just come here so often and I always see you so I thought we could get to know each other maybe?" I saw as his smile loosened a little,I think I caught him off guard but he replied.
    " My name is Oliver." He said, his big smile back in place. He handed me my card and I smiled back.
    "My name is Eli." His green eyes sparkled as he grabbed my coffee and muffin.
    "Well Eli, it was nice meeting you, enjoy you coffee and muffin." I smiled as I looked down to get my muffin and on his arm showed a dark purple bruise, I studied it for a second. My face looking perplexed, I looked back up at him, going back to my relaxed look.
    "Nice meeting you too, have a good day." I said back to him and I turned around and headed out the door, the bell announcing my departure.
