This isn't really poetry as I thought it turn out like. But its all made by me

I took A Disabilities in Literature course when I was an undergraduate student. The purpose of the course was to redefine what disability is and what it isn't. Disability Studies has impacted me and has inspired me to write a collection of poetry that coincide with Magical Realism, and reveal how the issues that humans and society have created negatively affect others. The poetry relates to culture, stereotypes, gender roles, mental illnesses, family issues, age, and old tales. This collection dives deep into how traditional and modern views and habits scapegoat others into following and believing what is practiced.

Now I understand that this is a platform for novels and what not. The thing is I’m not to good at Writing novels. So instead of novels I wrote some poetry. Hope you enjoy.

I HATE POETRY

Or rather, I hate how we're supposed to do poetry. Like a lab rat, structured and naive. Writing about things we don't even fully understand ourselves. Oh, what hypocrisy. I don't even fully understand why I'm writing this right now, with a movie playing in the background trying to drown my problems with distractions. Such sweet distractions. But that's another story. 

Now, where were we? Ah yes! Poetry.

Well, think about it, how do you see poetry? Nay, what do you see when you hear the word poetry? I'd bet a hundred dollars (No, not really) that the image in your mind goes a lot like this; a structured composition of rhyming words formed in couplets or quatrains or whatever it is you prefer, a few mismatched words found from the deepest parts of the dictionary- thesaurus, whatever. 

It doesn't matter. 

The point is, they're all the same. All those words and rhymes and rhythm are all the same. It may be from different writers, from different experiences, emotions and all that bull-trap, (sorry, I'm trying to minimize my curses) people spin from nowhere just to tell themselves; "Hey, this is unique." or, "Hey, this is different", "This is original.", "This is mine." Well sorry to burst your bubble, but none of it is true.

There is nothing unique in this world, nor is it ever going to be different nor will it ever be yours. 

None of it is yours. 

Let's face it, people write poetry for what? Leisure? Personal use? Ha! That's the lamest excuse I've ever heard, personal use. Whatcha gonna use it on? Some kind of reference? An autobiography? Like anyone is going to care. No one ever cares unless you're already dead or dying or famous. I think I might have accidentally quoted someone on that. 

Point is, there is no point. 

In living. In dying. And on anything in between.

And that's why we write; to be heard, to leave a mark. To try to be someone unique, someone inspiring. Or to be famous, whatever floats your boat. But in the end, what we really want... is to matter. May it be to a whole bunch of strangers applauding and asking for autographs, or to just one person that went out of the noose because of your work. 

Because of you. 

And I think that's enough to hold on. To keep on writing. Till my last breath.

(But I still hate poetry) 

"'Literary works flow overseas, if one wants to compose poetry and drink wine, they will stopover at the west gate again?' Seems like this Lu Yuan truly has some real ability."
"Hehe, grandpa's judgment wouldn't be wrong. If I say he is talented, it means that he is!"
"Grandpa, matching a couplet cannot mean anything. It can only prove that he isn't an ignorant and incompetent person. There are so many people here, are they not all people of talent?"
"Hehe, I know your judgment is very high. Have you heard of [Für Elise] before? That was created by him."
"I've been immersed in ancient poetry these few days, I've not heard of that yet."
"If you are free, you should listen to it. The melody of Für Elise has already been entered into the teaching books. After you listen to it, you will know why grandpa regards this young man so highly."

On the second level, Grandpa Chen looked to be in vigorous health. He looked at his granddaughter while shaking his head and sighing in his heart.
This granddaughter was good in many aspects. Her talent and ability were high too.
But her brain must have been damaged.
What kind of man would have the talent so high that it reached the requirements she was looking for?

This time, the Poetry Exchange was split into two factions.
The classical poetry society and modern poetry society.
Ever since ancient times, they had always scorn each other.
The modern poetry supporters felt that classical poetry supporters were too inflexible and kept adhering to old ideas. They only knew how to follow the old ways and were lacking in new ideas.
The classical poetry supporters felt that modern poetry supporters had forgotten their foundations. The poems they wrote contained no depth, and in recent times, no one in the modern poetry society was overflowing with talent. Hence, the content of their poems was simply sentimental nonsense.
These two factions would always clash with each other in the Poetry Exchange every year, comparing their poems. Everyone hoped that the faction they supported could suppress the other. However, they both had an equal share of limelight every year and the difference was truly minimal. Basically, they were in a tie...
After all, regardless of classical poetry or modern poetry, they had never been compared to see which was better in history. They were all poems. Only the talent of poets was being compared.
Maybe it was because those who could enter the Poetry Exchange were all students ranking at the top of various universities. Their accomplishments in literature were naturally outstanding. Hence, when the judges gave out the points, the score would always hover around the 9-point mark. It was very rare for there to be a lower or higher score given. The winner of each year also won barely by 0.xx+ points. It was impossible for there to be a situation of absolute crushing dominance.
Hence, in such a situation, even the number of talents in each faction was something the two factions wanted to compete about.
Lu Yuan managed to match an extremely difficult couplet. In the eyes of people of this faction, he was a rare talent!
If Lu Yuan hadn't been dragged to the west gate by Li Dongqiang, he most probably would have been sitting at the classical poetry side, eating fruits and idling away his time. If that happened, he would occasionally glance at the people and clap a little for the atmosphere, waiting for the exchange to be peacefully finished. But now...
The situation wasn't too good.

Lu Yuan ran to the toilet, and he subconsciously searched in his pocket.
His disappointment continued to ferment.
He wanted to hide in the toilet and would only come out when the Poetry Exchange was about to be concluded. It could be considered that he had 'finished enduring' today.
However, he didn't know which bro was it that had diarrhea. In the toilet, sounds of firecrackers popping kept ringing out. The sound was one thing, but the smell was so pungent that those who smelled it would instantly feel like vomiting.
How could Lu Yuan, who was not smoking, endure such a thing? He finally cursed 'MMP' in his heart and speechlessly ran out of the toilet.

What is Dark Poetry?
"Dark poetry is the use of dark and often negative themes in a poetic manner. Instaed of writing about such topic matters in a diary or story format, the writer has turned it into verse. Writers, however, are from a variety of backgrounds and dwell on a range of themes.
Dark poetry can take all forms, from small structured haiku to long-form verse. They can use traditional meter as well as employ rhyming methods. Dark poetry is not about style or structure, but it is about content and Aristotle's emotions.
These emotions can be both positive and negative. The poetry used in dark poetry can be both, and the darkness can come from within as well as being imposed on the protagonist from without. These emotions do not have to be violent. The horror spectrum of dark poetry may lean towards scares and gore, but a large portion of poetry has another connotation for the word 'dark.' "

Not just 'Old Liang Recites Poetry,' I think you can produce a show called 'Old Liang and the World.' Just with your knowledge and exposure, you are sure to be popular!"

That was blatant cheating!
Liu Mingxin shrugged his shoulders helplessly. "See it now? You're courting death if you're trying to compete with Dali. I've known him for quite a while now. I try to avoid any direct confrontation with him and will be glad if he doesn't look for me." 
Liang Yifeng had not come to his senses. He mumbled, "I… I saw it… Okay… I'll heed your advice this time…"
As they spoke, a young man's voice came from behind. "Hey, isn't this Liu Mingxin and Liang Yifeng? You two actually came?"
Liu Mingxin turned his head to see a man dressed in clothes which brands he could not identify. But they must cost a lot. He was smiling and had a red birthmark in the middle of his forehead. Looking like Erlang Shen with his third seeing eye, he smiled as he said, "I was wondering who it was. It turns out to be brother Mu Zixiao. Hehe. I heard you came to the capital city. Why didn't you look for me?"
Mu Zixiao laughed. "Haha, that can be easily arranged. East's Mingxin, West's Zixiao, South's Yifeng, North's Dali, it seems everyone is here today. That's really rare. Old Liang, why are you here? I thought you would be in bed with some female star."
Liang Yifeng laughed and said, "I came to take a look as I was curious. I didn't think it would be a rewarding day, haha. Oh yes, Zixiao, shouldn't you be training in Modo? What made you come all the way here? Don't tell me, is it because of Hong Dali?"

Stroking his chin, he mumbles to himself, "I just need to squander 200 billion yuan more to exchange for the blueprint of the core technology, Engine Destruction, found in the strongest humanoid mecha weapon, Neo Granzon. Looks like I'll have to work harder!"

Arriving at his house, their god knocked on the door and said hello.

 While lowering his face, Doni said in a very small voice.

 "No, no, why don't you" replied Doni (With a scared face while shaking his right hand)

 Dewa's mother stared at Dewa sharply like a bird that wanted to prey on her prey then said
 "Wa" Said his mother Dewa
 "What is it mom?" Asked Dewa to his mother
 Then Dewa invited Indri and her colleagues into her house.
 "Come in, let's go" Invite Dewa to Indri and his friends
 However, when they stepped their feet his mother god intervened them then said
 "Eh.  "Wait, answer your mother's question first, why is that face?" His mother said Dewa
 "It's okay, ma'am," answered Dewa while walking towards the living room
 Then when he sat on the sofa in the living room of Dewa's house, he saw Indri, his mother and two friends still outside, so he said.
 "Eh.  How come you guys are still out here coming in "Invite God to them
 They entered the house of Dewa then approached him and sat on the sofa with him.  Because his mother is still worried about them because of his bruised face.
 So his mother approached him, Indri and his friends.  Then say
 "Eh.  Why can't you answer your question? "Dewa's mother asked them
 However, they still didn't answer it.  Then his mother asked Indri.

Fan Xian looked around. Finding no one else, he decided to sit down on a rock. He took the kettle offered by the old gardener and took a few gulps without any complaints. On a whim, he then began to chat with the gardener about planting flowers and plants. Since Fan Xian didn’t know anything about gardening, the gardener’s colorful descriptions proved to be rather novel. But he became a bit irritated after hearing too much. Fan Xian thought about leaving, but chose not to after thinking about the even more irritating poetry gathering. Instead, he sighed.
Hearing Fan Xian’s sigh, the gardener asked out of curiosity, "Young sir, what’s troubling you?"
"The royal manor is holding a poetry gathering. It’s very boring." Fan Xian blinked. To him, this gardener was but a servant. There was no way a mere servant would be interested in poetry.
As Fan Xian expected, the gardener nodded his head. "Composing poetry is for people with too much free time. You can’t make a living out of it. They really are a bunch of stupid pigs."
Fan Xian was taken aback for an instant, thinking, "Didn’t he just insult himself too?" He then changed his mind and let out a hearty laugh. "Stupid pigs indeed." He finally realized something. With a wave of his hand, they didn’t bring up poetry again.

After the poetry gathering ended, all the guests went back. As for what happened after that, nobody in the capital knew until the following day.
That night, King Jing’s household was having its usual dinner. The Crown Prince got ready to go to the Drunken Immortal Tavern to indulge himself, but was called back by the housekeeper. He sat uncomfortably at the dinner table and, along with his sister, waited to be reprimanded by their father. 
King Jing sat at the head of the table. Amazingly, he was that old gardener who was chatting with Fan Xian that afternoon in the garden. Looking at his ever-indulgent son, a wave of anger came over him. King Jing exploded. "You stupid pig! You waste all your days in those places!"
Crown Prince Li Hongcheng knew "stupid pig" was his father’s catchphrase. Without getting upset, he smiled sheepishly. "What has caused you to become so angry today?"
King Jing gave a "Humph" in reply and ceased his outburst. He then asked, "You held another one of those poetry gatherings today?"
Li Hongcheng was surprised for a moment and answered affirmatively with another sheepish smile. He knew his father wasn’t very fond of those scholarly events. But in order for him to gather talented scholars for the second prince, they were necessary. Unexpectedly, King Jing didn’t get angry. Instead, he asked, "During today’s poetry gathering, there was a kid wearing chestnut-colored clothes. Who was that?"
There were so many visitors, how could Li Hongcheng remember all of them?
King Jing frowned. After thinking about the boy’s notable features for a long time, he finally said, "He was very pretty, like a girl."
Li Hongcheng let out a chuckle. He knew whom his father was referring to. He answered immediately, "That must be the one from Fan Manor."
King Jing raised his eyebrows in surprise, revealing a trace of viciousness.  "What?" he shouted. "You mean that’s Fan Jian’s son? The one in Danzhou? I’ll be damned. To think he sired such a good-looking son, even though he himself isn’t much to look at!"
Princess Ruo Jia blushed in embarrassment as she listened to her father spew out profanity. But at the same time, she was curious. Just what kind of person was the man who was so revered by Ruoruo? Li Hongcheng looked at his father with some anger, thinking it was good that there were no servants around. However, he quickly changed his mind, as the servants should already be used to King Jing’s vocabulary. He quickly asked, "Why do you ask about him, father?"
"Why?" King Jing grunted a few times in annoyance. When he met the clueless Fan Xian that afternoon, he thought the boy looked familiar, but wasn’t able to recall anything. Fan Xian disliked the poetry gatherings, but he listened to King Jing talk about gardening for so long. For that, King Jing took a liking to the boy. But King Jing never expected that pretty boy would turn out to be Fan Jian’s son. As anger swelled up in his heart, he kept on going. "You should learn from him… What’s his name?"
"Fan Xian."
"You should learn from that Fan Xian. He may not have the proper pedigree, but he does have a good eye for things." King Jing continued to educate his son. "That Fan Xian could talk for hours with a gardener. And then there’s you, who puts so much attention on his own background. Li Hongcheng sat in Drunken Immortal Tavern with Miss Yuan Meng—the most popular entertainer in the capital—in his arms. But his mind was elsewhere, thinking chillingly about why his father had acted so differently today.

In return, Fan Xian hurriedly came down and sent them off with a smile. He also ordered a few guards to escort Ruoruo back.
Before Ruoruo got up to her sedan chair, she nodded towards Fan Xian, who knew "it" had been arranged properly. Suddenly feeling refreshed, he began to plan for that evening.
"Guo Baokun must be living in Shang Shu Manor. He goes to the palace once every three days. He claims to be a compiler, but in truth, he is the prince’s reading partner."
Something made Fan Xian frown. "The prince still needs a reading partner? How old is he?"
"The prince is the son of the empress. He is the third youngest among the royal siblings. He is eighteen."

Ever since that incident at the restaurant, Fan Xian was worried that Guo Baokun wouldn’t let things go and would be scheming. So he ordered Teng Zijing to gather some intelligence, including the places Guo Baokun often visited and the route he took to return home.
During today’s poetry gathering, that Guo fellow had made some barbed remarks. As kind as Fan Xian was, all he could do was keep a fake smile as anger burned deep inside him. Only now did Fan Xian realize that he had subconsciously ordered Teng Zijing to gather intelligence so that he could harass Guo, not because he was worried of being harassed himself.
