My face feels really wet when I wake up. I open my eyes to find a slobbering wolf looking down at me. It licks me again and try to push it's face away but it seems to be futile. After the wolf has it's fun I finally am able to get up. I look up at the sky to see weirdly that there are two different colored suns in the sky. One looks relatively normal while the other is smaller and a dark red. Noticing the different suns it really sinks in that I'm in a different world. Now looking at the wolf it seems to be a lot bigger than usual it's about the same size as a car. I guess this world's animals are really built different. It seemed pretty docile so I decided to let sniff my hand assuming it was like a canine. Instead of sniffing my hand it put it's head underneath it, I guess asking to be petted so naturally I oblige.

The words spoke into my head slightly disorienting me. I take moment to collect myself and begin to formulate my questions.
"You're the system that I got from God right?"

[Yes, I was made to help the host in navigating this world as well as helping you to  repopulate the beast race.]

"Could you explain what exactly is included in the beast race." I wanted to know exactly what kind of creatures I'd be dealing with.

[Essentially, majority of the races that aren't human fall into the race of beast. Some examples ranging from kobolds to dragons. However, there are some exceptions such as slimes or demons.]

It would seem I have my work cut out for me. "Am I able to see information on creatures as well as myself."

It was kind of surprising that his level was 45 despite being only one year old. The most shocking discovery however was that its name was Cooter. In my previously life the name of my dog that died was Cooter. What made it even weirder is that the day I died was a year after my dog died. This can't just be a coincidence can it, the time matched up too perfectly.

Looking at my status I have two immediate questions. "What is size talking about? " I saw this on Cooter's status but didn't want to ask if it wasn't on mine.

That's a little weird but at the same time it kind of makes sense. Knowing the size will let me somewhat prepare before hand. "What is concealment hiding?" The other abilities made sense but concealment was active meaning it was hiding something but I couldn't tell what.

[Currently, Concealment - lvl.1 is hiding the host's tail and ears. In this world the low population of beasts and Demi-humans is due to the involvement of humans. If a beast or Demi-human is spotted by a human they will either be killed or captured as a slave. Mostly the ones that are turned into slaves are the females which is why the population is declining even further. After learning magic you will be able to activate this ability manually. This ability will passively turn off during sexual arousal.]

Letting the information soak in I plan my next move. All things aside my first priority is to find somewhere to sleep as well as something eat.
"Is there someplace nearby where I can eat and sleep," I ask the system in my head.

[To answer the first question for easier repopulation purposes God made it so that you do not need to eat to survive, however you will need to sleep to replenish your energy. For the second I suggest you to meet your first partner to begin repopulation sooner.]

God must really be stressed to put me so close to a beast race at the start. "So, what kind of beast race is it." I kinda hoped for a humanoid one to start with. It'd be lot easier to bang if we could communicate.

[Using detection you are able to find any beast or Demi-human location. However, for this situation I suggest letting your familiar take you there. It is likely that doing it this way will allow for an easier conversation with the Father]

I look at the wolf that was sitting down in front of me with it's tongue out and tail wagging. I take my right hand and put it on the side of his face and look him in the eyes. They were a deep blue like the ocean and were calm like. "Do you could take me to where you and your father live?" He licked my hand and turned his back to me to crouch. Somehow it seemed he understood me and wanted me to ride on top of him.

[Beast have no capability of speaking verbally, however, because he is your familiar as along as you give the intention he will understand what you mean.]

Confirming he understood I get on his back and he starts running to wherever his home is located.

It didnt take long for Minerva to return, covered with blood. I wondered what had happened out there, but strangely enough she wore a happy smile on her face as she waved at me. It seemed like she was dragging something behind her.

She roared happily as she drew closer. I looked behind her and she was dragging an animal with midnight black skin and two tails. It was a wolf three times the size of a normal one.

I shrieked I  shick and fear as I saw it.

"What is that!?"

"I found a doggy playing out alone. It looked delicious so I beat the doggy up."

"Eh!?"

I stared in shock as I looked at her.

"You did what now!?"

I tried to walk closer but I fell on my face, moaning.

[Alert! Alert! Stamina is too low! Attempting to move will have repercussions]

A screen popped up in front of me, saying this.

"Ugh... For... real?"

"Oi, Chicken. Are you ok?"

Minerva asked and came over to me. I tried to nod, but I couldn't so I looked at the wolf instead. Hopefully she would get what I was trying to say.

A status panel popped up on top of the wolf, saying

Timber wolf? Oh yeah, that's right. I'm in a fantasy world now.

"Oh I see. Chicken is hungry right?"

Minerva hissed right, then ripped open the stomach of the timber wolf with her bare hands. She took out a blood filled collection of various internal organs and placed them on the floor next to me.

Was she expecting me to actually eat that? No way. I felt like vomiting out my guts as I looked at the intestines she had placed in front of me.

"Eat."

She said, pointing to the intestines. I couldn't move or talk so I just looked at her.

I guess I would need to check my stamina stat. I didnt see something like that earlier. But without stamina i cant do anything. 

[Alert! Alert! Target's HP is running low. Target must consume a food substance to regain energy.]

Another screen showed up in front of my limp body.

Hey, Agent. What would happen if my hp dropped to 0?

I guess that was a really dumb question, huh. So I needed to eat this before i died, but i couldn't even move. It's like a cruel joke.

Minerva then hit her forehead like she just had a eureka moment.

"Minerva forgot. Chickens eat their food from other people's mouths."

She boldly said, then grabbed a chunk of the meat in front of me.

No no. You are definitely misinterpreting this situation. That's not my problem. I dont need you to chew food for me, I wanted to say all these things to her, but I couldn't. 

She put the meat in her mouth and begun chewing, then picked me up.

Oh no no no NOO!!

She forcefully opened up my beak and begun to feed me chewed food. It was a very disgusting and awkward moment for me and I felt like crying. 

I regained some energy and begun beating her cheeks, signalling for her to stop. She dropped me on the ground and swallowed the rest of the food she had.

"Are you ok?"

She asked, and I nodded. I shivered as I remembered what had just happened. She beamed with a smile and went over to the wolf. 

Suddenly, out of nowhere,

AH! How!? This is unbelievable. All I did was get fed chewed food, now look at this! It's like a video game now.

I was so surprised that I almost forgot about the horrifying experience I had just experienced. I looked at Minerva who was busily chowing down on the dead Timber wolf.

Then again, this new status screen was much like a video game. It was a bit easier to understand and it would seem like I had acquired some new stats. Like stamina, Intelligence and luck. Also, it looks like my Agility stat changed into speed and my MP was now 0!? Why?? Looks like I've also got a resistance stat, although its empty now. I wonder how to build resistances.

Maybe it's because I cant use mana yet. I let out a sigh, then looked at my skills. Two of my unique skills now had EX in front of them. Extra skills? Why is that?

And now it seems like i have a level. My level is 26 now. I was wondering what rank that might be. And it seems I can get stronger by increasing my XP. Yep, just like a video game.

Of all the things, the new skills were the least surprising. [Evolver] would give me the abilities of creatures I consumed, eh? I see. It also gives me experience points for creatures I consume. Meaning, I don't even need to fight monsters to get stronger?

Perception stat? It seems like this skill just gave me a new stat.

Wow, this is good. Still, I cant help but feel that it's all happening way too fast. Still, I wanted to test out my abilities as soon as possible, and the only way to do that was to go out and check it out. 

"Hey Minerva. Can I go hunting with you tomorrow?"

I asked. I wasn't stupid enough to think I could go out there alone and face no problems. Something could go wrong somewhere and I might end up dead. For that not to occur, I needed Minerva, who looked like a pro to help me out.

"Ok"

She shrugged then continued eating.

Bastian pulled out his sword from the Husk Wolf's mouth; even the mouth of this Husk Wolf can swallow half of its body, "That's terrible. "It was only at this time that he realized the enormous size of the Husk Wolf.

Leona, who realized this already had a bad feeling, she chanted a spell and made an ice needle wrapped around her and Bastian.
"We did it!" Bastian shouted excitedly as they managed to get past the Husk Wolf pack; he looked back and found that the Husk Wolves were just staring at him, "But this is strange, don't you think so?"

Right after Leona said that, all the Husk Wolves who had been quiet suddenly turned their heads upwards and let out a roar.
Hearing this roar, a loud sound was heard like something big was moving between the trees. "Watch out," Leona shouted.
Bastian has noticed something strange from earlier, but he is still hesitating. When Leona gives a warning, he immediately activates his swordsmen skill.
"Swordsman skill: 3rd Eye." By activating this skill, all Bastian's visibility is increased, like having a third eye. This gives certainty the ability to see fast objects slowly.
He saw a giant wolf; even this wolf's size could not be compared to the Husk Wolf that surrounded them.
This wolf came in front of him and was now running very fast from a distance. It was seen that every time it walked, a thorn came out of its body and stuck into the surrounding ground, causing the ground where the thorn was embedded to become hollow.

Yes, of course I noticed right away, at the very first run, I had noticed. Dad's wolf was the biggest, then Harvey's and mine, then Beta Lucas, his was long like ours but not as broad. Then Gamma Harry's, which wasn't much smaller either. Let me tell you, size matters.
I didn't know any female wolf even close to the size of mine.
Usually if a female wolf was warrior wolf sized, she was considered large, and in wolf form, being a big girl was a huge compliment. Okay, no, that's probably just me. I think the right thing to say to the other female wolves was how their eyes or fur was beautiful.
When I'm in my wolf form, I'm large and strong like any other male wolf. Because it turned out, I hadn't shrank after shifting, I was exactly as before, a teenage girl.
Size was relative. Next to Ben, I was tall and slender. Next to Harvey, I was petite.
Next to Dad, I was still a kid, nothing ever seemed to change with Dad. He was always big in my sight. But as a wolf, we were nearly matching in size.

"I'm big and strong now!" I boasted.
"Sometimes, young one, it's not about size. Have you ever thought, that being small could be an advantage too?" Dad wolf said.
Was this Dad's wolf talking? Because Dad had never called me anything but 'Sam' (or 'Samantha' if I were in trouble,) until now. Why was Dad wolf going into zen mode?
"I don't care, big is the best! When I'm big, I can protect everyone!" I told Dad.
But Dad wolf was staring up at the moon, "Even though your mother is small and sweet, when she is angry, I'm the one wandering outside in the snow."
Eh? Did Mum and Dad have a fight?
Then Dad looked at me, "Sometimes I wish you would also stay small and sweet and be the protected one."
Eh? I eyed him carefully. What was Dad talking about? When was I ever small and sweet?
I shook my large wolf head at him, "I'm always protected. I have you and Mum and Savy, I've got my Betas and Gammas, and lots of other wolves in the pack looking out for me. Plus I've always been lucky."
Dad seemed to be considering my words. And then he said, "Since you know this much, I will tell you more: the true strength of an Alpha isn't in the size of his wolf, but the power of his pack."
Hm, yes. Very zen...and by 'zen' I meant I'm sure it's deep and important but I had no idea what I'm supposed to do with those words.
"Let's go back, it's late and you have school tomorrow." Dad's wolf started off toward the house.
Oh yeah. School. I followed Dad's wolf to the tree line behind our house, found my clothes and changed quickly back... Or at least that was the plan. Butt naked I tried to get my underwear on quickly, but my hair got caught in the pantry hole when I put my leg through.
Ooof, I fell over on the snow. So cold.
"Sam?" It was Dad's voice.
{Alpha approaches}
"Stop! I'm still changing." I quickly said.
Silence.
I quickly pulled on my clothes... Of course my hair got into everything. In the end, I pulled it in a pony tail, twisted, let it rest on my shoulder, so it would stay out of the way. It only worked very slightly better than before.
Finally done, and now icy cold, I released the pent up frustration in a sigh, tried to readjust my clothes, gave up, and plodded back out to my dad's side. My bare feet were wet and cold and icy by now. Stupid hair. Was it going to grow out again evert time I shifted?
"Dad, can you cut my hair again?" I asked the moment I saw him.
He didn't even consider it, shaking his head as we walked up into the porch and into the house again, "You better ask your mum."

Back home it should have been the usual drill, but things started shifting. And I urm...might have been messing around where I shouldn't.

I had to miss a couple of school days this week due to my ah, long term bout of "anemia". It's been pretty intense at home. My alpha position was challenged, rogues burnt down our home, I rescued my first fight dog, discovered the Lorent's secret oracle, almost rescued my mate...and accidentally stumbled into my Alpha Dad's secret.

My worlds collide as some members from my pack come to my school to sell concert tickets. And when Grandpa Alpha shocked us all by dying, my dad's family comes together to pay their last respects at the Night Forest Pack.

It's February and the Vampire Queen is celebrating her birthday. Would Rebel's plan to escape work out? Meanwhile, I'm stuck in school dealing with high school drama, an evolving wolf, and a new human sister. In the Red Packlands, war nearly breaks out. It's the week of Valentine's Day, but I've got a highschool play, Lorent drama, Vampire slaying training, and an underground army to deal with first. And then warlock weather threw an extended snowstorm at us. The whole of Green Packlands goes into lockdown - but what about Valentine's Day?

Exams are a week away, and it feels like my time at Winderhill is really coming to a close. I'm trying to be a good student, but there are paparazzi camped outside my school, I ran with rogues (I'm shocked too), Maria just had to enter her dark cycle in school...My life is too exciting to study for exams.

It's exam week, but I've got far greater problems brewing at home. The prophecies are merging. River's stone had unlocked warlock trouble, the rogue king has moved in, and then there's Uncle Louis' economical problems... one at a time. Just let me survive Code Black and figure out what's going on at Heller's first, and I'm sure everything else will work out somehow.

(Somewhere in the Snowy Mountains of Vanaheim, thousands of years ago).
A man who would be mistaken for a half Giant due to his size walks through the deep wintered forest, following tracks of a large beast.
The man takes to one knee, examining the tracks and how they end abruptly. He uses his free hand, the other of which has a wooden spear befitting his size, and moves his hood off his head, exposing a head of golden blonde hair and two red eyes.
"This way" the man quietly says out loud, taking to his feet and jogging through the snow, wooden spear at the ready.
He continues to jog as he comes upon a cave. He picks up a rock and throws it in to hear how deep it goes, but instead, he hits something unsuspected.
A large wolf, the size of a Rhino, fur as black as night and eyes a burning crimson red, turns to face the large man at its lairs entrance, it snarls with the sound of a Demon. But, as it unravels ever so slightly more, it reveals a little girl, no older than seven and hair as jet black as the wolf she sleeps on.
"If you don't harm here, then you won't harm me," the man says as he begins to walk down into the cave, closer and closer to the beast who has his sister sleeping in its embrace.
The wolf doesn't attack the man. Instead, it sniffs him with curiosity.
The man raises his arm to meet the wolf, gliding down its neck and scratching it. The wolf enjoys.
"Now the real question, what is an Asgardian Wolf doing on Vanaheim?" the man asks himself out loud.
"*grunt* what's going on?" the little girl says as she wakes and rubs her eyes, noticing the man who gains a smile on his face.
"Sanguinius!" the little girl calls out as she launches from the embrace of the wolf to hug the large man.
"Listen here, little Princess, you can't be running off like that!" Sanguinius says
"Fenris protected me, and she is so warm!" Hela says as she backs away a few steps to look up at the tower of a man that is her older brother.
"Fenris, well if that's what you wa.," Sanguinius says as he is interrupted by a noise outside and some distance away.
Fenris also seems to be aware of what caused Sanguinius to divert his attention.
"You stay here with Fenris, I'm going to go do something," Sanguinius says as he gets to his feet and grabs the makeshift wooden spear by the entrance.
"CAN I COME!!" Hela asks as she loves the idea of coming on a hunt.
Sanguinius thinks for a moment.
"You stay on the wolfs back," Sanguinius says as he pats the side of Fenris, making her quickly stand up. Placing Hela on and nodding to the wolf who seems to understand what the Asgardian Prince is thinking.
Sanguinius takes to the woods, running at speeds that would baffle those even with enhanced capabilities.
"THIS WAY!" Sanguinius says as he takes a sharp turn and continues to run up a narrow path that only gives him an inch on each side of him. Fenris can fit through but takes some time to do so.
"A Pack of Carnadons!" Sanguinius says quietly to himself.

Ren, Lara, and Hilda went to the adventurers guild to pick up a subjugation quest. Since those quests were straight forward and for Ren's party pretty easy to do. All they needed to do in a subjugation quest was to kill all the monsters that are specified in the quest. 

The quest they took was to kill all the Arcadia Wolves near the town. It would seem that a lot of merchants have been attacked by these wolf pack, and only some survive. The number of wolves weren't specified, but it is believed that there was an Arcane Arcadia wolf in the pack. This was an Arcadia wolf that could use magic, making it an A level threat. The quest was only available for A rank parties, which Ren's was not. 

Still Ren had a little talk with Nezzard who gave them special permission to accept this quest. The one who handed out the quest were the people from the merchants guild. Obviously they didn't like the idea of their products being broken down by wolves, since that doesn't make for good business. On a side note, the deaths of their companions, members of the guild weren't worth much, since they were low leveled merchants.

Also since the quest was handed by the merchants guild, the rewards were very generous. Actually some adventurers have tried to do the subjugation quest already because of said rewards, but failed miserably. Three parties have been disbanded due to the death of members, and heavy injuries. These three parties were made of B rank adventurers and headed out together, but in the end they weren't able to win, since they lacked preparation. Still they were the reason why the quest got upgraded from a B rank quest to an A rank quest. 

In the first report made by the survivors from merchants guild it was stated that there was a pack of Arcadia wolves. A pack of Arcadia wolves was only a B level threat, but after the failed attempt of the three parties, the quest got updated. It was now an A rank quest, due to the presence of the Arcane Arcadia wolf.

The merchants guild that made the quest with limited information, needed to pay up for the lacking information regarding the quest. Due to that mistake in information three parties made up of B rank adventurers were now out of commission. Of course they payed for that mistake, but like all merchants they payed up using only the bare minimum. Still because of this mistake none of the adventurers in town would accept the quest, even though the reward money had doubled. 

Now that Ren, and company acquired the necessary information regarding the quest, they started to plan for the upcoming quest.

"So what are Arcadia wolves, and how are they different from regular wolves?" Ren who has zero intelligence regarding the monsters of this world, asked Hilda, since Lara was equally clueless.

"Arcadia wolves, are obviously different from regular wolves, since they are categorized as monsters, while regular wolves are animals. Regarding the difference between monsters and animals, I can't give an answer to that since even I'm not sure about the difference. So if you want to learn more about that, you need to ask a scholar. So back to the difference between an Arcadia wolf and a regular wolf. An Arcadia wolf is three times the size of a regular wolf, by this size alone it could eat a human child whole. Aside from their size, all of their physical capabilities are of course higher than a regular wolf. What makes the Arcadia wolf special from other monsters, is that each wolf is a B rank threat, and they are always in a pack of seven and above. Usually if a monster is this strong it wouldn't be helping other monsters in a mutual manner." 

"I see, so then what's so special about the Arcane arcadia wolf?"

"An Arcane Arcadia wolf, is a higher level monster. It's an Arcadia wolf that could use magic. This monster has the same basic characteristics of an Arcadia wolf, except for its horn that could be seen sprouting from its forehead. This monster is classified as an A class threat, coupled with the pack of normal Arcadia wolves, the overall assessment of this threat, is a top A rank threat nearing S rank. Usually the guild master who is an S rank adventurer would have dealt with this, but as you know our guild master is a lazy loser." 

'Heh, these seems like it's going to be a nice fight. I think I'll be able to use the new techniques I acquired.' Hilda once again saw Ren smiling that vicious smile of his. It was obvious that the battle freak was getting excited at the prospect of fighting such strong opponents. 

"So Ren, how are we going to prepare for this quest?" Hilda asked, even though she was pretty sure she knew what Ren will say. That smile of his, was basically the answer. 

"Huh, the wolves are near the town, it's just a short trip so no need to prepare for food supplies. The difficulty of killing them is... Hey Hilda compared to the King Drake I fought before how strong are the wolves?" 

"Well technically based on strength alone, even the Arcane Arcadia wolf, won't be able to match up to the King Drake. But unlike the King Drake these monsters specialize in cooperation. Their overall threat level aren't the same, the king Drake would be able to kill them all by flying in the sky and raining down flames. The only reason the King Drake would win is because it could fly, but take that away then the Arcadia wolves, with Arcane Arcadia wolf would win." 

Hilda tried her very best to emphasize that the threat of the Arcadia wolves wasn't a simple one. She wanted Ren to act a bit more cautiously especially after what happened with the Elder Lich. But as if he didn't understand what she said, it looked like Ren simply got even more excited. 

"I need to buy some new equipment for this quest, after that let's head out." Hilda was surprised to hear Ren say this. She was so sure that he would just say, no need for preparations let's head out. Even Lara was surprised by what Ren said.

The strongest Demon Lord dies and reincarnates as a human.

The wolf starts full-on growling.
"Eiliah. What is happening?" Demetri asks me and I shoot him a confused look.
"I just arrived. How am I supposed to know?" I look at the rest. Linda is also a vet along with Demetri and Zack is an assistant. They all shrug while Linda looks scared.
The wolf moves and I avert my attention away from Demetri. 
"No, wait! Don't move or you'll hurt yourself," I crouch down, but still keep a distance. 
He whimpers and his piercing green eyes catch my golden brown ones. His fur is pitch black and his size is just bigger than a Dire wolf and he has more fur than a Samoyed dog. 
I offer a soft smile to see if he will see me as a threat, bet he starts crying and whining.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I know you're hurt, that's why I want to help," I keep my voice soft while holding the emotions in my eyes. 
"No, seriously. What is happening? I thought I was going to die at this rate, but as soon as you arrive he turns into a puppy," Demetri tries to joke, but I just gaze at the wolf. I hear snickering from  Zack, though.
The wolf continues crying and lowers his head, almost like he is cowering.
I cock my head to the side and give my eyes a gentle glint with kindness. Shifting a bit closer, like a baby crouching, I lower my own head but don't break eye contact. Communication is key, especially through the eyes in my opinion.
"Are you crazy? Stop," Zack tries to intervene, and before I have to start the whole process over again, Demetri silences him with a 'shh'.
Luckily, Demetri has the brain to know that if I do anything too sudden, the wolf can hurt me while being this close. 
Ignoring Zack, I shuffle a little closer, leaving a good meter between me and the wolf. He releases a loud sigh and slumps into a lying position. I refrain from gasping upon seeing the large wound taking up his whole side.
"Hand me the calming injection, please," I whisper as soft as I can and the next moment I feel the piece in my outstretched hand. 
I desperately search for a good weak spot. My eyes land on his hind legs, which is conveniently close to me. It's far away from the injury to not cause sudden pain and injections are unnoticeable if you do it the right way.
With my left hand, I pet the spot, the wolf jerking away, but relaxing again under my touch. With my right hand, I inject him while still petting him, making it seem like I'm not poking him with a needle. My hands move quickly and gently, to get it over and done with. 
I back away slowly, but I'm stopped in my tracks with a grumbling noise. My eyes shoot up and connect with the wolf's ones. He has lifted his head and is busy growling at me, staring me down. 
"Step away, Eiliah," Demetri whispers from somewhere behind me. I nod my head in understanding but take my sweet time backing up to avoid frightening the wolf with sudden movements.
"He should feel drowsy in a minute," I whisper as I reach the group of vets. We all stare at each other, thinking about the next move.
"Zack, get the car," Demetri fires in Zack's direction and the wolf is starting to bare his teeth.
Zack doesn't argue and launches himself towards the direction of the Jeep. Linda is frozen to the spot and I drag her back behind me. My right arm is pulling Demetri back, while my left is pushing Linda behind me. 
My eyes never leave the wolf's green ones as he is trying to move closer. I give him a pleading look, trying to hide the small fear in my eyes. 
I stop moving and relax my muscles, holding the gaze. He starts crying again, almost like a puppy looking for attention. 
Before I could do anything about it, I hear the struggle of the Jeep trying to catch some speed on the rocky ground. 
Linda yelps and jumps into shotgun while Zack is still parking the car in reverse. It takes him a minute to get the right angle in front of the wolf.
The wolf's eyes start drooping along with his body and we take this as our chance to carry him into the back of the Jeep that's caged off. Zack opens the door to the side and gets ready behind the wolf.
"I'll take his head to prevent snapping or straining. Zack, you take the shoulders and the chest. Demetri, you take the behind and stomach. Linda is freaking out, rightfully so, so be careful not to swing his legs too much, since she isn't here to help," I inform the two men as we each take our position. I wiggle my hands under his head and cradle the wolf, the other two get in their positions as well.
"It's okay, buddy. In thirty minutes you will be sleeping on a comfy bed, okay," I reassured the whining wolf in my arms. His head is taking the space in my arms like a lion's head, but with thinner features. I've held a lion's head once when I had the privilege as a vet to help the sanctuary transfer an injured lion.
"Okay. Ready?" Demetri checks with us. 
"One, two, three," Zack rushes the count and we stumble a bit with the wolf's weight and size. He doesn't stop crying, the pain only getting worse even with the shot I gave him. 
Demetri turns with Zack's guidance and places that half of the wolf in the car. Zack grunts as he shoves the wolf's entire weight into the back. I lay his head to the side and get ready to jump in.
"Are you crazy?" Zack repeats himself from a few minutes ago, this time I catch his expression. 
"You really want to leave him in here, in a cage while feeling a little woozy and in a bumpy ride. You're mental if you think you can get away with it a wolf his size," I raise my eyebrow, completing the look with a grimacing smile. To be honest, yes, it was an excuse for me to avoid Zack's complaining and the cramped space. The Jeep doesn't have backseats as to make the cage bigger, so only three people can fit in the front.
"Fine, your funeral," Zack scoffs and stomps away. Demetri helps me hoist myself up into the boot of the large Jeep. 
"Our animal whisperer did it again," Demetri winks and chuckles at his own words.
I roll my eyes at the nickname and let a smile slip. Demetri closes the door and I get into a sitting position by the wolf's stomach, the only open space. 
His entire body barely fits in this place and I start to worry about the operation room's size. Yes, we rescue the bears that are hunted, Brown bears, decent sized ones. It feels like he noticed my panic because he begins to stare me down. 
He whimpers again and I'm lost.
"What do you want me to do, huh? Does it hurt that bad?" I inspect the injury and my eyes grow wide when I see his condition. 
The light in the back lights up when the Jeep starts moving, making realise what I saw in the dark woods didn't show anything.
Blood is still gushing out, resulting in a pool of blood surrounding me. There are three clear slashes that ripped his skin, the form is paw-like. I also see some sort of Aconitum in between his hair and blood.  
I reach out and slide the small metal window open. 
"Hurry!" I warn the others.
"What's wrong?" Linda has horror written all over her face. 
"We're gonna lose him. Why didn't you even think to mention the state he is in?" I question Demetri directly. 
"I did-" I cut him off.
"No. All you said was 'he is hurt'. What happened to 'he is dying'? To top it off, he is covered in wolfsbane!" 
"Well, if you're not so slow-paced, maybe you could've been here earlier," he mocks back at me and I grow furious.
"Well, if you weren't so vague about the situation, maybe I would've known to hurl my ass over here!" I don't let him respond and slam the window shut. I see the latch moving, so I lock the window from the inside. 
"Oh, come on," Demetri pounds on the window a few times, but then stops. 
That's when I feel a rumbling from beside me and I turn around in confusion.
I catch the wolf's eyes and almost scream when he tries flying himself at me. 
His size obviously got rid of the calming shot, now he's a mixture of cries and whimpers while simultaneously trying to get on top of me. It's been no more than ten minutes and he is already up and moving around.
Now I'm completely lost. That was supposed to be a strong shot, a shot to make him calm and sleepy for at least a few hours. A shot that knocked the bears out for an hour or two.
When I notice we are slowing down, I know Linda will jump out at the reception to handle the owner of the property. And maybe some few extra cops. 
The jeep speeds up again turning onto a paved road. The ride isn't as shaky anymore and I notice the wolf is getting into a stance. 
Before I can calm him down or protect myself, he leaps.
