I think the only mention of spaceships was the one that destroyed Atlantis. All the other transfers between worlds happend by teleportation. Also the whole thing with the infernal hunt and the different levels of hell sound more like different realms instead of just civilisations that occupy different areas of space and are at war.

I think this book is really awesome. Legion20 manages to keep his cast of characters relevant. They develop beside the main protagonist/s and don't just fade into nothingness or irrelevance because they can't logically keep up with his OPness. All too often the side characters won't be mentioned again because writing a believable development for them is either too hard or unwanted (Protagonist has to develop way faster/stronger/smarter than anyone else so naturally nobody can keep up). Just conjure some new ones with new personalities and let them interact with the main character. I find Legions20s worldbuilding way better and absolutly well done. It feels like an actual world that is living and breathing outside of the focused view of the protagonist as well. Stay safe and best of luck to your relative.
