How would the thunder brick TVs, phones, and routers? Only damage I know that thunder can cause is ruptured eardrums. Is this the pokemon universe?
Unfortunately, the thunder was too strong and too close. A lightning rod wasn't omnipotent, and the thunder had damaged at least 50 TVs, nearly 100 wired phones, and routers around the tube building.

Lightning not thunder.
"F*ck, the TV is smoking. The thunder is too strong!"

It was more of a rhetorical question. From what I remember about the paragraph(s) I was commenting on, they seemed to be mistranslating lightning into thunder. Hence my comment. If I was to reply seriously to you though, thunder is the sound caused by lightning (it's nothing more than an acoustic shock wave). Technically speaking, it would be a pressure blast wave that causes any physical damage (which would be at a close range). To elaborate more in depth, when lightning strikes there is a pressure blast wave caused by the superheating of the air around the lightning channel (which travels at supersonic speeds). Said supersonic blast wave decays and then transforms into thunder (the sound). Someone can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong with what I said.
