wood for sheep?

"WOOD IS HIGHLY RELATED TOWARDS LIFE. INSTEAD OF ALTERING YOUR DOMAIN TO ADD A THIRD SPECIALIZATION, YOU CAN CHOOSE TO LET THE FORMER SUBSUME THE LATTER. YOU WILL RETAIN ALL OF THE INSIGHTS AND ABILITIES YOU POSSESS AT THIS TIME, BUT YOU WILL MORE EASILY BE ABLE TO MASTER THE OTHER ASPECTS OF THE VERSATILE WOOD ELEMENT. DOING SO WILL CAUSE YOU TO FORSAKE SEVERAL OPPORTUNITIES TO MASTER THE TRUE MEANING OF LIFE."

The clash of domains, wills and faith had resulted in a lot of freaky phenomena that Ves did not want to explore too closely!

Skully begs the difference, but you have used that solution before as well.

This sounded as stupid as Ves capturing an old enemy like the Saint Jeremiah Gauge, putting him in a coma before stuffing him in the power reactor of the First Sword!

No you are young and stupid by the definition of ancient Tier 1's but they want to watch the show.

Or was it simply his own character flaws that encouraged him to throw much of his caution to the wind?

Looks like Ves is learning.

Ves still couldn't figure out what sort of criteria the heavenly authorities used to decide when to rain down lightning bolts, but he had triggered it enough times to estimate whether he was at risk of crossing the line.

He is not wrong. Ves does not deny this when pressed hard.

As Ves beheld the Dread Captain of the Dominion of Man, the powerful fleeter in question took a good look at the legendary Devil Tongue and all-around troublemaker of the mech industry.

No Ves. Some of your elders want to see you burn everything to the ground with your outlandish ideas.

"...I partially agree. I think you are aiming too young, though. I am barely more than 40 years old! You should at least set your sights on a more competent leader who is over a century old. I am so young and inexperienced that I come up with the most outlandish ideas from time to time. I do not think it is wise for the rest of you to become subjected to the products of my overactive imagination."

No, you are her child. You just hid your actions behind mantras (I am only a mech designer), probably like she did.

Ves felt incredibly ambivalent about her shameless and greedy behavior! A part of him could hardly believe she was his mother! They were nothing alike!

Poor Davute. You helped created a monster. This is why you play nice with those that help you.

"No problem. I will buy out this contract from Davute. I will tell my staff to make a call right away. We can probably complete this transaction within a day."

Hey, we can always make you permanent test subject if all else fails. How is that a possibility of Yuri is still human and has rights?

"You are not a mech." Professor Loban interjected. "Never think that you are a mech or an object. You are a human that has become fundamentally altered due to circumstances outside of your control. So long as you are still able to demonstrate that you have retained a measure of your humanity, we will always treat you as one of our own. Please feel at ease. We shall try our best to undo the transformation that has caused you to turn into this form, but if that is not possible… we would be more than willing to give you a new home in one of our safe and cozy experimental facilities…"

So the people that want this outcome showed up. That points well for Ves.

As a member of the Transhumanist Faction, he was more than willing to help Professor Larkinson by massaging his results.

This is why Ves keeps finding himself in bad situations.

"Screw the rules." The cat contemptuously said. "How dare the future dictate my actions? If anything, it is my right to shape the future! The actions of a single individual have eventually led to my ultimate ascension. I am curious… if I bestow my assistance to seemingly ordinary mech pilot such as yourself, will I be able to replicate his contribution to society? It is worth exploring. Besides, I hate cosmopolitans. Helping you may cause them to suffer a setback. That is another reason I want to intervene."

That shows you how much the association cares about Ves personally

"You do not have to erase all of your works, Ves. We do not have any strong objections towards the pieces titled 'Filicide" and 'The Sentencing of a War Criminal'. You are free to keep them up if you wish."

The Gloria that we all know to hate.

"THAT DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY APPROACHED THE THRESHOLD OF A GRAND WORK! THIS IS TOO SOON! YOU ARE STILL A SENIOR! HOW DID YOU DO IT, VES?!"

Looks like Ves has to upgrade his unit of useless sending again.

"Of course not. I bought them for myself." His wife responded. "I know your tastes. Your gift is much more practical."
