according to the world economics forum 150'000 people die each day if we assume a population of 7.5 billion, then the deathrate is about 2*10^-3% the new world has about a deathrate of 6 times this. which for a supposedly post apocalyptic, dangeours world is quite tame so far. Given all the people have been put on dangerous hike in an unfamiliar environment with basically no starting tools, we can assume that the wilderness is even a bit safer than our own.
In only half a day, 12 had died. This undoubtedly gave a massive feeling of pressure to those who were still alive.

really wonder what a 'neural acid' is and why do they talk as if they knew. i only found one reference to the word in one paper and it does not seem to fit the topic
