I'd assume they would want to get people hooked first with free chapters. at least thats how they got me for most of my novels. I'm definitely less likely to start reading a novel if the first chapter is paid, but maybe their statistics suggest otherwise.

Is the author still alive? maybe he made enough money, and no longer cares. oh well, was fun while it lasted. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on the privileged chapters.

pretty good. I am enjoying the story, but the releases are coming out slow. maybe im just impatient. not impatient enough to pay around 80 bucks for privilege access though, which is just highway robbery on webnovel's part.
