well, i know that write a story or fan-fiction is a very difficult thing to do. In my opinion is better you rework it. I'm not saying that the story itself is bad, i liked it alot but if you fell burned by it, is better you change it because later on you may drop it. so in my opinion the best option is the 2º one but the 1º is good too, if you choose the 1º, you can change the world that the MC may go. In the end is your choice.
