His spirit should go up by .05 spirit per month. After 12 months, you would expect 0.6 spirit (12 * .05) but instead he only got 0.5 spirit in each year. (somewhere along the line, his rate decreased, though the author is a bit unspecific about how much his new average should be and how much worse it’ll get overtime)
Compared to three years ago, his spiritual power had increased by 1.5, an average increase of 0.5 per year. But in fact, three years ago, the average increase of 0.05 per month during those few months should have been 0.6 per year, but in reality, it was only 0.5.
