I think the intention the author is trying to convey is that now that the unending one has less territory it needs to defend it is harder to remove him from his entrenched position. kind of like if an ancient empire only had one fortress remaining and they concentrated all the remaining forces on it. yeah they don't have a lot of territory but it's going to be really hard to take that last fort

it isn't useless. even though the person who uses this has to take a month off making the efficiency seem like it is a 1:1 ratio. they gain something valuable, 1 month of time. sure they can not build qi during this time but they can use it to do other things. for example if you could double your income and only work 6 months in the year instead of working 12 months for your current income, wouldn't you do it? time is the most valuable currency in the world and it is the hardest one to recover once spent

Though she sounded noble, to Ves she sounded just as selfish as any other bastard. While he wasn't pleased with her demand, he already accepted this outcome. The only way he could trust her to cover for him was if she had a vested interest in doing so. Divulging some secrets to her was an acceptable price to pay as long as she did not divulge what she learned.
