This is going well if you can manage the power creep. I would dial back the power growth a bit and start getting into plot

It provides many protections for the people within it to be different but it does not offer any power to unify the people and establish a somewhat common belief/moral structure. Thats what you believe but its not what people believe. People compared religions and found that Christianity was better for multiple reasons(race wasn't tied to the religion for one).
