I swear if someone pulls an uno reverse card--

Because in that moment, she wanted nothing more than to see the girl she loved.

I can feel the huge sense of disappointment leaking from the 2 comments below me

Meanwhile, in Kanako's mind, she had a different thought. "I wouldn't mind still holding her hand, but… something about it just feels different from before." Holding the hand of someone who had feelings for her felt like it would be wrong. "If I took her hand without returning her feelings, wouldn't that just be shallow?" Kanako thought. And so she didn't, leading Haruna to further believe more distance had formed between them.

Well you can't really blame her ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As Haruna watched her go, she felt happy that things had gone better than she had thought they would. Unfortunately, that conversation had done little to get rid of the doubt in her mind. Akio was no longer an obstacle, but Haruna couldn't help but think that somehow, Kanako had grown more distant from her.

Sí, lágrima él aparte, giro su por dentro afuera!

"He tricked you?" Haruna said, anger boiling inside her. Kanako meekly nodded. It was true that Haruna wanted Kanako to choose her, but she still knew how much Kanako loved Akio. She was sure Kanako would be feeling pretty hurt from something like the boy she was in love with lying to her about his own feelings. "What the hell…" Haruna muttered. "I should go track that idiot down and knock some sense into him." Going to stand up, Haruna rose to do just that, but she was stopped.

Well this is infuriating

Later on during lunch led to another awkward encounter. This time, Kanako had tried to approach Haruna. She still felt less than prepared, but after how she had acted in the morning, Kanako thought she should at least try to start the conversation. "Um, H-Haruna?" she said shyly. When Haruna saw her so suddenly, she froze up. The words left her mind and Haruna could feel the sweat building on her forehead. "S-So, uh, I was thinking that maybe we could-" Before Kanako could say "talk during lunch," Haruna cut her off. "Sorry, I gotta go," she said quickly before dashing off. "Maybe we shouldn't talk today after all," Kanako thought dejectedly. As it turned out, neither girl was quite prepared to hear what the other had to say.

Could Haruna say the same about Kanako? Obviously their relationship was different from the Wakabayashi sisters, but childhood friends weren't that far off. Knowing each other for as long as they have, could Haruna honestly say she wanted Kanako to be happy, even if that meant being with Akio? "...I can't," she decided. No matter how much she tried, there was no way she could think that. Haruna wanted Kanako to be happy, but she wanted the girl to be happy with HER, not Akio. It was a totally selfish thought, but from the bottom of her heart, that was what Haruna wanted.

Hehe 😊

"I am— from now on," Lou winked, while igniting the engine to start. "Especially now— that I have you to make meaningful memories with."

Smooth, I'll be taking notes of this from now on. I'm sure I'll learn a lot from this, right Louchie? 😊

That gif is cursed

Now, it was different. It was as if her heart was dead. There was no skip. There was no giddiness. The only feeling, if you could even call it that, was nothingness. Whatever small amount of denial Kanako had had left was wiped out when the final nail in the coffin was driven in. It was true. Her feelings for Akio were gone.

Indeed, but I think you have to be the dumbest broad out there to even stoop down to this level.

It wasn't until Michi's final outburst that she saw what she was sure was the truth: Kanako was replacing her. Haruna, who Kanako had grown up with, would take the title of best friend away from her, leaving Michi with nothing. It also answered a question she had had. Why did Kanako take Haruna's side? Simply put, it was because that was who she had chosen.

This makes me feel kind of icky, it's like she's only choosing Haruna because the girl confessed to her.

With Haruna's confession, it led Kanako to wonder if Haruna could really be that person for her. Haruna said she loved Kanako. Those words had clearly been spoken with a lot of weight. Objectively speaking (or as objective as feelings could be), it made perfect sense for Kanako to turn to Haruna now. But, for as easy as she lost her affections for Akio, the same could not be said for gaining affection for another. The heart simply did not switch that easily… didn't it?

We can finally breathe a little better. OoksDooks is going to get excited once he reads this part.

Frustrating ain't it?

"Huh?" Kanako thought. She remembered what she had said yesterday. That they were no longer friends. That she hated him. For the most part, she had meant those things, but that didn't completely erase the longing she felt for...

Sure, I added you.

In all the time Kanako had known Mayu, this was the most she had ever heard the girl speak. And, it felt like the longer she spoke, the more compelled Kanako was by her words. "I think, because of those experiences I've had, it helped me to really think about Endo-san's feelings," Mayu said. "When I first heard about them, it shocked me completely. A girl falling in love with another girl was something I had never heard of before. I had always been told love was something between a man and a woman. Endo-san's feelings conflicted strongly against what I knew. Even now, it feels difficult to fully accept a situation like that... but, I think, now that I've thought about it a lot, I can at least understand how Endo-san has feelings for you, another girl."
