that and the version of Nolan in the comics is much colder than the one we see in the show. they both didn't want to kill Mark (show and comics) but while the show version was being depressed, the comics version immediately found another planet to conquer for Viltrum, in hopes that it would satisfy them enough to overlook earth... or his mission on it at least.
