Guns is maxed out. Explosives is at 20. For mines, I think you could just pick them up, from selecting the middle of the mine before it goes off. In SWOTOR, you needed one of your skills to be high enough to disarm certain types of mines. Besides, Karl disable the mine.

Welp, I say it's time to show them the money. Let them gawk at that. For those that did not understand the last two chapters, re-read them. He explains why he did not want them to investigate the town and see how he brainwashed AU Gwen. Given how those two were always bickering during the road trip with Grandpa Max. Which leads to the next segment. AU Grandpa Max has been MIA, which leads MC to believe he hasn't retired from being a Plumber in this timeline. Hence the lack of progression as most of the story takes place on the road.

Even if he can see it coming, being able to dodge it is another issue.

Interesting set up with the "out of office" bit; that gave me a good laugh. I also read that other fan fiction you mentioned. The dialouge the MC had with his system made it seem that he would have thought about it and bought a stabilzing agent or had the mutation affect his mother through the embilical cord but, oh well an opportunity not taken.

Drop the y from unity. Eating a unit (squad, platoon, company) worth of food was becoming expansive.
