I'm a little late to the party it would seem. That being said the revenge ark for me was too heavy nor a mine as you called it. Mainly it felt rushed and sloppy I understand why you want to make them feel regret or remorse, but the way you did it just made it seem easy and almost generic. Daisy was needed for character growth as you said mainly so John didn't become self-destructive. All in all I enjoyed the story some parts were a bit fast some parts were a bit slow.
