yeah, I see it as constant flexing. you'll be fine holding a flex for a while, but you'll become tired later, their blood forces them to be flexing the entire time sunlight was gone, which then the exhaustion would kick in due to them relaxing. now they won't have a moment of respite due to magical means, therefore no weakness of being tired.
