that's not how that works, the Mpemba effect doesn't work like that. It is only sometimes that hot water cools faster and not in this case. In this case the steam would have a higher surface area and would freeze if the cold area also was large, but it would turn into snow. The more likely scenario and believable would be that the golem cracked due to thermal shock. this really breaks the one out of the story. but except for this, pretty good so far.
Most people do not know this, but hot water turns cold quicker than lukewarm water. Using this logic, and speeding up the process with magic, the hot steam created by the impact of my [Water Ball] with the burning Rock Golem was frozen at a fast rate.
