its not a misunderstanding tho, demons showed up at his house so he prepares to defend himself against demons, demon attacks him at the church so he defeats it, demon kills like 30 humans and tortures mysterious winged creature. hes not wrong for wanting to kill them, they were technically going to save asia but that doesnt make them good guys
Whoever did this clearly had something against either this creature or the species as a whole, either that or it was just that special sort of twisted monster that got its kicks out of pain and suffering. Regardless, such a monster was far too dangerous to let roam free if THIS is what it would do so easily.

never learned any mythology in school for me, closest we came was the reference to neptune/poseidon in shakespear's macbeth for year 12 english.
