I like that you used the Eye of Horus as their mark. in warhammer 40k it's the mark of insurrection against humanity and chaos so it's good to see it used in another way.
Suffice to say, the charm-like (totem?) Eye of Horus logo was imprinted in the minds of all those involved in the conflict and region, for good or for bad.

Eeh... all bears are dangerous but black bears are at the bottom of the bear totem pole. I've seen them chased away by cats. Grizzly or at least a brown bear cub would have been more fitting.
