The next morning, Matt woke up earlier than Alexis. He didn't create any dreams that night to let her rest well. He did some morning stretches and entered the bathroom only to discover that everything was on the floor. Martha was lying in the tub looking slightly bloated with a satisfied expression. Matt wasn't sure what happened but started picking up all of their toiletries and putting them back where they were supposed to be. Martha woke up to the noise and realized what she did.

Matt didn't want to waste anymore time and entered the man's dream. The duration of his Dream Walking was directly related to his mental energy. Since his body was asleep, he couldn't use more than the energy that was already available to him. Matt entered the dream and he noticed the current one was very strange and abstract. There wasn't anything specific happening it was all just randomness. This wasn't unheard of; Matt was just used to more realistic dreams.

In these moments of simple bliss, Matt thought about how his life had been before and compared it to the life he wanted to have in the future. If he had the ability to return to his previous life, he would refuse. This was a realization that slightly surprised him. He had already fully accepted his life and made important connections. Although he missed his family, he couldn't abandon the family in this life either.

However, the other candidates talked amongst themselves. They noticed that Alexis hadn't even broken a sweat and was able to command them clearly without any signs of heavy breathing in her voice. Everyone else was pushed to their limits. They realized this was not an easy assignment and were even more determined. This was the position of acting-leader, it naturally wouldn't be so simple.
