he definitely did but the qiaos(both 2 qiao family) at least brought him power and money while the Zhao family couldn't really give him the power a crown prince needed(since they mostly only have an empty title of Duke without military power) plus the fact that the crown princess gave birth to a son for him(which means additional points for him as a crown prince) so all in all it's worth it for him to choose his wife. Besides if a crown prince/emperor/king is capable & powerful he wouldn't need to marry many women just so he could accumulate political power, he also wouldn't be afraid of his wife's maternal family (even if they have military or political power). p.s I've read the raw/mtl of this novel so I know for sure that the Zhao family here are actually powerless that they couldn't help prince Huai that's why Crown prince isn't afraid of them.

a concubine trying to offend a legal wife from a different branch is certainly idiotic,if she's also a legal wife she has some rights to at least go toe to toe against a legal wife/sis-in-law because it's not disgraceful.

Qingqing doesn't have much worry about her children in the beastmen world since each children (except anan) of her there are strong and independent already,her children there doesn't have much to learned except what their fathers learned(being strong). In the side story anan's life will be discussed and anan seems to be the most pitiful among her qingqing'' kids .
