I stood there in silence as it dawned on me that perhaps this was part of his plan all along. I thought about what he just said. Was he waiting for me to decide on becoming a killer? Was it some kind of hidden condition? The timing was too suspicious. That god, he was playing with me. Still, it would not change my decision. Nothing was going to stop me from living again. This new contract promised a good number of souls. For instance, if I killed only 10 people, I would receive 10 souls a month for the duration of my stay in the DC megaverse, but should I leave its confines, the soul delivery would cease. This was better than the previous one, in that how quickly I became powerful depended on me, or rather, what I was willing to do.
