I'm going off the assumption that you haven't read further than this. I can think of at least two big reasons they didn't get to him in time. 1. The Head Elder of the Wu Clan interfered with their attempts. We learn later on that he was attempting to usurp the position of Clan Head from Wu Jian's father. I can see him stopping them from interfering. He doesn't even need to fight them. This is a world based on China, where prestige and power mean more than life. All he'd need to do is mention how interfering in a fight would undermine Wu Youshi's position as clan head. 2. Wu Jian's father purposefully didn't interfere because he wanted Wu Jian to solve the issue on his own and was confident that he could. We already know that Wu Jian's dad was not interferring when Wu Jian was getting bullied because he wanted his son to toughen up. I can see this happening here. I'm sure Wu Youshi would save him if the situation became too dire, but he might not have thought it was life-threatening. The author has also stated in previous chapters that sequelae can prevent cultivators from moving further in their cultivation. Being rescued by his father may have made Wu Jian form a mental sequelae that blocked his ability to progress, whereas overcoming the situation on his own could boost his confidence and make progressing easier once he came of age. These are my two thoughts regarding the subject.

This is the first review I've ever written for a web novel, but I felt like this one deserved it. Since I like highlighting the good things about a story first, I'm gonna do that here. Perhaps the greatest aspect of this story is its ability to draw me in. I read a lot (almost as much as I write), and it's very rare for me to be so captivated by a story that I stay up late to read it, but that's what happened here. I stayed up late several nights in a row to finish reading every chapter of this story. The author has the talent that a good storyteller should have to draw readers in and keep them reading until they have bags under their eyes. I also really liked the characters. William is interesting. He's arrogant, narcissistic, and loves attention, but he's also kind, strong, and willing to go to great lengths to protect the people he loves. His positive personality attributes prevent him from becoming a sociopath, which is what many Chinese protagonists end up feeling like. I can really appreciate how far William goes for the women in his harem and hope to see him continue putting their happiness before anything else. Now for the constructive criticism. Perhaps the most annoying thing I found about this series was the Author Notes scattered between the pages. They pulled me right out of my reading, destroying not only the story's pacing but also my immersion. If you want to have an A/N, save it for after each chapter so those who don't want to read it can skip it. While I like all the girls in William's harem, I do wish they played a larger role. Right now, it feels like their purpose is primarily eye candy. They have done a few things to help William in his time of need, but because they haven't done anything outside of those few instances, it feels like they only become useful when the plot demands it. Ashe saved his Soul of Consciousness but hasn't done much else, Estelle and Wendy haven't really done anything to help and have all but vanished for the last hundred chapters, Princess Sidonie also hasn't done a whole lot either, and while Chiffon played a role during the fight with Belial, she hasn't done much else beyond that. I would love to see them getting more time to shine and show off what they can do. It would be really cool if, for instance, Sidonie built a spy network across the Central Continent that she uses to keep track of William's enemies. Put these girls and their unique talents to use so they can grow beyond just being William's harem. The last thing I noticed were the contradictions I found within the plot. I remember the chapter where William's Sea of Consciousness shattered because of the Demon Worm and how Gavin could only come down haphazardly, and yet a few hundred chapters later, David comes down to Hestia when Eve is about to be kidnapped by a goose to save her. We learn at this moment that gods can descend from the heavens 3 times to rescue their disciples. So, why did Gavin not come down to rescue William before things got so bad that his soul literally shattered? It makes no sense if he could descend 3 times. While I do have criticisms about this story, I believe that it is ultimately very entertaining, and I'm happy I read it. Now I just need to wait for more updates.
