you also got to think though that he is in the body of a child. So his brain is not fully developed. The parts of the brain that regulate emotions, decision making, and risk assessment are really just beginning to develop along with a large amount of stress hormones being released due to beginning puberty is probably not going to allow someone to fully behave as an adult.

not necessarily, it depends on if he meant 50% profit or 50% of the total price that it would be sold for. If it's the profit one then it would not be a loss because profit is the difference between the cost of production and the selling price. Also even if it is 50% of the total selling price that would just mean they would have to raise the price to make sure that the shop owner still makes a profit he finds amenable. which the second option is not super realistic like you said, depending on the cost of labor and materials and the income of the inhabitants of the town. however they could also have traveling merchants that routinely travel through that they hope to sell to that could take it to a city that they could jack the price up for rich nobles or merchants for their own gain.
